And there it is.
That is less than a pound. Fluctuations can easily be that large, and it is only a 0.2 lb gain for this month. This is totally within the normal kind of fluctuation, fluid (and other stuff!) retention, muscle gain, and all kinds of other variables. Hang in there! Keep experimenting with small things, and the scale will begin to reflect the changes eventually.
@PlaneMonkey I was picturing you post-hockey game, resisting the snacks and telling us all about it. What a genius move! You are now staying in the 180s, we won't let you go back up
I am hungry a lot of the time too, and some days it feels like a power. Other days it feels bad, and then I know I need to watch out not to overdo it in raising the calories a bit to keep it on the good side. I do need a nighttime snack sometimes or I wake up at some ridiculous pre-dawn hour too hungry to go back to sleep. I love this meal priority for pre-logging!conleywoods wrote: »When I plan my macros for the day I plan in order of meal importance: dinner, late night snack, after work snack, lunch and finally breakfast. I make little tweaks to get the numbers as close as possible. Since everything is planned I tend to stick to my planned evening snacks. I love to have sweet potato waffle fries from my airfryer with chicken. I also like crackers with avocado and berries.
I have a long sit-down meeting today, it is raining out, and I have a feeling that steps will be day-off style. I'll do my Pilates and practicing, and bike tonight, but the steps will be low for sure. I'm glad to have this meeting, though - getting a project hopefully completely planned, the grant writing just about done, the budget done, and all that fun stuff. Then if we get the funding, we'll be ready to roll! It feels good to have a couple of music projects for the fall, that's for sure.
@YinxFed I'm so glad your workshop went well! It is great to stretch and do new things, even if there is a bit of stage fright beforehand. WTG!
@ashleycarole86 and @bowens1973 happy golfing today. Say hi to Lloyd for me and wave to my daughter if you drive near Wainwright3 -
@PlaneMonkey I draw the line at hot soup in the summer! But congrats on your loss - you are on the downtrend now, girl!
@KellyBgetsfit echoing what others have said, don't get derailed by this frustrating weigh-in. the human body is a complicated instrument. you know you felt good about your eating this week so keep at it!
@ashleycarole86 if I recall, you were close to the top of your maintenance range 1-2 weeks ago; seems like you found the sweet zone! way to go
@YinxFed reading your post gave me like immediate second-hand nervousness but of course it turned out well!
I woke up super early today, like before 6am, and tried to just get back to sleep but was plagued by weird dreams. Rainy day here today but I am going to try to sneak in a walk now while it appears quiet. I got a new pair of leggings from Amazon yesterday that are very soft and comfortable - disappointed I had to size up but glad to be in something that actually fits. My only hesitation is that I'm sure this material will pill quickly between the thighs/chub rub - but they were super cheap and that happens with all my pants eventually (thank you, thighs the size of France).
I also woke up with Cheezits on the brain and the first inklings of a binge. But I had my normal breakfast and brushed my teeth and I'm leaning into how sore I feel from yesterday's workout. I'm catching up with a friend tonight who knows about my struggles with food and I know I would feel so sad and pitiful if I had binged before chatting with her. So we are moving on from those thoughts, brain! Hush.

With all my visitors recently, I tried to keep up with reading everyone's posts, but I don't always have time to respond. Someone had asked earlier about the hormone in fat, I know that fat cells carry and release extra estrogen in the body. It also releases leptin, a hormone that decreases hunger. However, in people with obesity, their body isn't as sensitive to that hormone, so it doesn't control their hunger.
Update for me....my poison ivy has returned with a vengence after stopping prednisone 😥 I am back on a different steroid for a week and if it returns after that, I will be referred to an immunologist. I haven't had poison ivy in 10 years and never had it this bad! My goal is to track all of my food this week and enforce my calorie limit. This will be my 3rd week on steroids and I just can't let it be an excuse to over eat.3 -
Activity, Self-care and Strength are the three areas I am working on this week.

Well! This has been a good day for many -- we are looking quite green this week! I did not have as good a day as I thought I might, but it was still productive and interesting if not healthy and active. My meeting to work on a promising project was inspiring. We spent quite a long time discussing all aspects of the work, the grant writing, the budget (ugh) and we made great progress. It is clear we are going to seriously enjoy working together. I then came home and wrote more, ate, and ended up not exercising in order to write even more. Sorry @Kali225 ! I did not hit all the checkmarks today at all - but tomorrow will go better I am sure!
Friday is the big day for weigh-ins - get ready to go!

Small rebound on the scale this morning so I am doubling down to make sure I drink enough water today. We're all out of our favourite zero calorie iced tea water enhancer and it really affects how much water I drink.3

Happy Friday!
Thanks for the good wishes for OH; he's still unwell but not as bad as on Monday. Went for a walk with a friend last night which was nice, then had pelvic health physio. I thought I might've gone backwards a bit but ultimately she was able to give a more intensive treatment than in previous sessions so good progress.
I'm feeling progressively worse over the course of the day, somebody suggested it could be hay fever, but I might do another Covid test later - was negative last night.
Later I have to pick up some medication from the vet, and I think I'll detour to the allotment on the way back to try and do an hour or so whilst the sun is shining. I also have the supermarket shop to do so I'll get that out of the way today just in case I end up isolating. Over the weekend, I will finish the last little bits in our bedroom so it's ready for carpeting, and hopefully spend some time at the allotment but otherwise I'm taking it easy.
For now I'm going to grab a sandwich before my last meeting of the day.2 -
I thought I checked in yesterday. Well, I read posts but guess I never posted.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE LOVELY BIRTHDAY WISHES! It was a nice day with a swim with friends and dinner with a beautiful view of the river. I had crab cakes, spinach, and garlic mashed potatoes. It was scrumptious! The best part was that the crab cakes were all crab and not breading. I was super tired and full so we never had cake and I went to bed at 10pm, way early for me.
We did each have a slice yesterday after dinner. Buying a half cake was perfect.
Today has been really good for me nutrition wise. Don’t know what has come over me. My macros and nutrition are good. @jugar I’d like to weigh in tomorrow to see if I can get a better number. Today was a small gain.
It was so good to read everyone’s posts. So proud of you all. Just checking in makes a difference.
@DD265 Hope you can dodge covid and Hope OH turns the corner soon. You are a productive one, but do take time to rest if you feel your body needs it.
@ashleycarole86 Wishing you a great golf day and how nice to finish it off with a restorative weekend at the camper. Hope your mom is doing better.
@KellyBgetsfit You’ve got this! Don’t let that little blip derail you. What Kristi said, if you feel good about your week, ignore that piece of equipment.
@jugar So exciting for you to have your planning meeting for your project go so well. That must feel great after the long hiatus.
@PlaneMonkey You are rocking it lately. I picture you as Strong Louisa from Encanto moving those stones building those biceps. 💪🏼
@YinxFed Glad your presentation went well. I bet you are so good at what you do. 😊
@Kali225 Great job controlling your urge to binge. You can do this! We’ve seen you. Keep up the good work.
@lauren_989 Thanks for the hormone info. At my age, I wonder if there is any estrogen left anywhere in my body. The drop in levels sure does change the body.
Well, I need to get rid of two of those 5 pound hunks of fat before summer is over. I will keep visualizing their grossness.
Better stop here. My little one would like my attention.4 -

I am still feeling this cold. It is significantly better but it has really settled in my sinuses. My teeth really hurt from the pressure. Every time I drive away from home down the mountain my ears won't pop for hours! Silly stuff but it's driving me crazy. I'm taking the day off from logging and just eating what I like today 😌 Tonight is date night and I think pizza or calzones are on the list.
I have always wanted a sauna and it doesn't look like I will be getting the real deal any time soon. Especially with everything costing so much lately. So I ordered a far infared sauna blanket which is kinda like a sleeping bag. My first one arrived and it had a rag in it. It was left in by accident when they wiped it off coming off the factory line. This one is fine and cleaned up no problem but the company sent me a second brand new one and a few accessories for free. Now we have two so my husband and I are going to try them out together tonight. I'm hoping they become a nice relaxing routine for us. I surprised my husband with it and I wasn't sure if he was going to like them or give me the you're so weird look. Luckily he was excited when the first one came and wanted to order another one. So it all worked out thanks to a random rag!7 -
@conleywoods you would have a laugh at our sauna! It is a little building separate from the house - in fact it is made from the trees that we cut down to build our house. It was milled here, and then turned in to a small building next to the pond. There is a wood storage space/dressing room first, then you go up a couple of steps into the sauna itself. It is just a concrete floor, cedar walls and ceiling, and an old wood stove we got from someone getting rid of it. It works great! My OH built two levels of benches on each side, and it is simple but does the job. I love the sound of your sauna blanket things, though - even simpler! Let us know how it feels.4

@jugar I would love to see pictures of your sauna some day! Before my husband and I got married he made a sweat hut for us. It had a sand floor and a short little tee pee on top with a little vent in the top. We would build a fire near by and heat rocks in the fire. Then we moved the rocks into a pit in the middle of the hut. It was pretty fun. One time my husband decided to try mint on the rocks. They slowly started smoking. His mom asked if anyone else's eyes were burning...yep! EVERYONE OUT! We have cedar trees, a saw mill and an old stove! Sounds like I just need some cement and I'm good to go!4
-
@conleywoods let me know how you like those sauna blankets! It sounds amazing, and my husband would love it, too!
On a positive note for today, I actually tracked every meal 😊 I may have gone 150 calories above my goal for the day, but not outrageous. It was a beautiful evening, so my husband and I were able to go for a walk after dinner.4 -
I went to bed last night thinking I would come on here today and request to sit on the sidelines for the month. But I'm not. I can't promise that I'll be able to participate more - but I will try to get on to read all you inspiring people's posts. And I woke up feeling like maybe I can turn to healthier food - veggies, and make that old soup recipe that really worked for me in days past.4

Hey @jugar, I will be taking a break from weighing this month. Will get back to it from July. Thanks3

I can't remember my pw I think it was 182.6
Cw is 181.
I am happy with it, it was 100 % me and not some fluke cause I didn't eat alot the day prior...
I can do this...

I'm thinking I might need to drop out for a while. I don't need the extra guilt this is causing me over gaining weight beyond the self-loathing I already carry7 -
Hey all! I was MIA on Friday - the trip to Lloydminster was a whirlwind! I was passenger to a coworker on the drive up, so I didn't want to be on my phone, and same coming home. And then when we were there, there was zero down time!
Had a blast, drank too much on Thursday, had a snack or two I didn't need, but overall it was a great time.
Last night on the way home rather than go back to Airdrie my coworker dropped me in Red Deer where Brad met me, we had supper and a walk in the park, and then he whisked me away to the trailer. He had a campfire all set up ready to go (not his favorite thing to do but he knows I like it), some wine... it was a nice night.
One week till we leave for Vegas so I'm focused on having a good week since I'll be out of my routine again then for over a week.4 -
@PlaneMonkey Awesome weigh in and great overall work. Enjoy the feeling! You are doing so well.
@YinxFed Glad the workshop went well.. those nerves can be rattling. The feeling of relief when it's over and it went well can't be beat. I agree with @Kali225 ... I felt second hand nerves as I read that. The feeling is the worst!
@kellie_erin I think @jugar will likely mention the support team instead if you don't want to weigh in but you're willing to stick around with us. We love having you here and hope you'll consider staying. Guilt on the scale is not a motivating feeling at all.3 -

I was down more yesterday 🙄 Do you all weigh in daily or weekly? I have been doing daily, so I can see trends throughout the week, but sometimes these fluctuations mess with my head. Although when I used to weigh weekly, I would tend to eat some sweets and more food after my weigh in because I had a whole week before the next one. 🤷🏼♀️3 -

Great weigh-in this week - sorry it felt disappointing but keep up great work!
I weigh daily. I like having the data, but you do have to disconnect from feeling emotion around the daily results. I track my average weight along with it so I know I'm headed in the right direction even with the daily fluctuations.
Sometimes a big fluctuation UP happens on my one weekly weigh-in day, so if I hadn't been tracking during the week to see the days I was down, I might feel more frustrated. So, that's what ultimately convinced me to start weighing daily.
Ultimately, either method works in my opinion - just depends on what helps you more mentally along your journey.
Have a great week ahead!3 -

Kellie, please consider not dropping out. Give your self-loathing the boot. Forgive yourself and let go of the guilt. We are all here to support you!4 -
I traveled Friday from Boston to NY which is typically around a 4 hour drive. If I time it right, it can be a little under. Unfortunately, about halfway through Connecticut I hit traffic that didn't end.... ever. It took about 5.5 hours total and was totally exhausting/disastrous. My foot wasn't super happy either since my driving foot is the semi-injured one. By the time I finally got out of the car, my knees were feeling it too!
Suffice to say, the rest of my eating was "meh" for the day, including going out to dinner to get the birthday festivities for my mom started. I just wasn't up to logging the details and today is the actual party, so unlikely to track tonight either. @jugar going to be some blanks on the tracker for me as well! Weekends are tough. I am going to try to do yoga or a workout now before I shower and get party ready but we've got more decorating and food prep to do too! Sheesh.
Hoping the drive back Sunday is more pleasant so I can start the week on a stronger foot.3
