Made it home! I had stopped for a pizza lunch on the way (could not resist...) but then got home in time to pick a huge batch of assorted baby lettuces, arugula, basil, and have a big salad for dinner. I just love eating a salad 5 minutes after picking it! It will feel good to sleep in my own bed tonight

Thanks!5 -
Donated blood today and they say no strenuous exercise for 6-8 hours on their website, but the lady who did my needle said "all day".
I had planned to ride tonight but I do at times feel wiped from the blood donation and figured there was no reason to push it.
So, Brad is up cycling away, and I made dinner and lunches and so on.
The rain has stopped but it's still pretty windy. My dog could use a stretch around the block so I'll likely pop out there before I head up to bed to cap off my 10,000 steps.
My weight is hovering at the low end of my maintenance range which is sort of by design pre-Vegas. We'll see where it lands tomorrow.
I am still at a calorie goal of maintenance - 10% but I've had about 6 days over that this month. Overall my weight is still trending down but with vacations and such for the summer I think eating at this small deficit will probably be a good offset for the days I exceed maintenance.
Playing around and getting data, anyway...4 -
@conleywoods
I know before you had asked about some before and after photos and I said I'd put some together when I got to maintenance. Well, I am not super great about documenting that sort of thing but Brad and I found a few from early 2020 (about a year before I got started) and then a few from lately.
Before:
After:
I've had a lot of customer events and such lately and some people not recognizing me. I always think that's funny but I suppose as I look at these photos I can see a bit of where they're coming from. When you're in it and you see you every day it feels like a slow grind and I sort of forgot where I was... (funny trick of the mind, I think!)

I didn't let my scale disappointment derail me. I worked out for 50 minutes, logged, came in under and almost hit my macros. If I stay consistent, hopefully the scale will eventually catch up.
@jugar and @evMakesChanges i am glad you ladies had a quick catch up. 💕
@ashleycarole86 I read your first post and thought, wow, you are so leveled headed about it all. Small deficit so you can indulge on vacation...what I great strategy. Then, your photos, wow, honey, you have totally transformed your life!!! And you are doing it in such a healthy way. I am so very proud of you. You an amazing.7 -
@ashleycarole86 wow!! Your transformation is amazing! I know it took a lot of hard work! I always find before and after photos very inspirational. Congrats!5
-
@ashleycarole86 that photo of you at what looks like a wine tasting with the window and plant behind you looks like it could be a stock photo online used by advertisers. The lighting is perfect and you look to be in perfect health. Model Ready!
It took a photo of myself at my larger size to make me realize what the world saw me as so the transformation going the other way can slip past your notice as well until you're confronted with it. I had to submit a new photo for my work ID card and it made me realize that the old photo they had was from 70lbs ago. Glad that's changed. Now to keep the momentum....1 -

Way to go Kelly! Sounds like a great strategy. Glad you had such a great day. Thanks for the kind words (and @lauren_989 too!)
This group is weaved into the fibre of my being now!

@MoonlitMuse I'm sorry about your Grandad, and the crappy week. Look after yourself!
@ashleycarole86 those photos are really inspiring. I think we all know how much effort you put in, but seeing it is incredible.
I'm almost back to 100%... bit worse this morning but I think the pollen count is up and down. I haven't bothered testing for covid again as it wouldn't really change anything. Work has been crazy busy - I have more than made up the hour I took off earlier in the week - and isn't showing many signs of letting up. At home things haven't really changed either. I didn't manage to get a call in to the carpet fitter today because I was so busy at work, but I plan to spend tomorrow afternoon (I cancelled my vacation in the morning to accommodate meetings) tidying/cleaning so the house feels back in order.
Yesterday OH brought back some tomato and cucumber plants from his tutor, but I'm not ready to put them in the ground! My glass green house is in pieces on the decking - I collected it from FB marketplace on Saturday, thankfully! - and the ground at the allotment is not prepared but I have two small plastic ones I could use, if I got some growbags for the tomatoes. Still got the broccoli and single cucumber plant from a few weeks ago that aren't in the ground either.
Here's a question for anybody who feels like answering...
The carpet is very pale, the ceiling is white, the blinds are white, the furniture/bedding are white, the lampshade is white, the curtains (which I don't have) will be white, and the walls are this colour:
Those brushed stainless steel curtain poles, or white ones? I can't decide!
ETA - the first photo is just one coat, it's solid now!3 -
No change for me unfortunately 😞2

Super hoping I can make it through a week in Vegas without too much gain... Thankfully I have a few days of canoeing as soon as I return. Perhaps I'll drink some unfiltered river water to ensure the loss. Inadvisable? Perhaps... But super competitive.
Speaking of which, @Jugar, can I be excused from next week's weigh in? I won't have access to a scale for about a week and a half - don't pay any attention is @ashleycarole86 posts - I think she's arranged for a scale to be delivered to the riverbank.5 -
@DD265 glad you are feeling better! I actually like the brushed steel rods as opposed to more white. Could you also find brushed steel lamps to go with the white lamp shades? Then the light fixture + curtain rods would complement each other vs there only being 1 non-white detail. I LOVE that wall color, also! Big, big fan of dark greens.
@MoonlitMuse you had a tough week! And honestly a small gain as a result. Sorry about your grandpa, but glad you went allll out at the yoga fest.
@ashleycarole86 WOW! Just wow. I am so inspired by these pictures. I really need to kick my own butt over here.3 -
@ashleycarole86 Those are amazing before and after pictures! You look totally different and no wonder people don't recognize you. You should feel a lot of pride in what you have accomplished.3
-
@DD265 I also like the brushed steel curtain rods.
I have had a great week of tracking all my food! Now off to orange theory!6 -

Definitely the stainless steel curtain rods. Curtains will brighten the green especially if some bots of floral orange are included. That green is lovely and deep and will certainly need a wee pop of colour for gentle de-emphasis. Perhaps a small accent blanket could have the same bit of floral accents to tie the room together?
Have fun!4 -
That should’ve been “bits of orange”, not “bots”.2

You're in a good spot for your vacation in Vegas - between a couple of weeks of good losses and a few days of canoeing! I think you'll be able to skip the giardia and other powerful weight loss agents to be found in that water
Don't tell Ashley, but you're excused for next week!5 -
Sounds like some great actions out there - the inspiration from @ashleycarole86 's photos is fabulous! I'm so glad you posted them
What an accomplishment.
@lauren_989 a strong week of logging all the food! And off to orangetheory - it took me quite a while to figure out what that was. I finally looked it up - looks like quite a program. I'd love to hear how it works for you, what it's like and all the scoop. Finding a class, place, program, or whatever it takes to get moving and stick with it is fantastic.
I have some more moving to do for today - off to it!2 -
@MoonlitMuse So sorry about your granpa❤ Sending hugs to you during this difficult time. Glad your yoga weekend went well. Hopefully you will have a better week coming up.
@DD265 I agree with the brushed steel. It looks like your door handle is also brushed steel. That will nicely tie all those little details together. I love the wall color. I always like kitchens that have the lower cabinets painted that color and white cabinets on top with gold handles.
Well we finally said goodbye to our little guinea pig. Darn it. The vet has a rabbit with the same dental issue and she said we would need to complete monthly teeth trimming at the vets office for life. He also looked to have some neurological issues too. He was just to fragile to tolerate such invasive medical care. I don't think I made it to work a single day this week with any eye makeup left on my face. Miss that little guy.
Since I really needed a distraction this week , I used all of my extra time for my masters. I am literally hours away from finishing my last assignment and finishing my semester 6 weeks early. This will really clear my plate for summer. I plan to focus on my health journey a ton in the next 11 weeks.4 -
@conleywoods - so sorry to hear about your little guinea pig. It is hard to see the critters suffer, but I think you made the right decision not putting him through the stress of frequent treatments.
Congratulations on your last assignment and having a great summer free of course work - well planned and executed!

@DD265 I am also team brushed steel. It will pop against the white and green and match the door handle. It's going to look great.
@bowens1973 don't drink the water! It's not worth it!! Lol
@conleywoods so sad about the little critter. He had a good life although shorter than you had hoped. It's amazing how they can creep right into your heart so deep. ♥️1 -
@DD265 Looks like I'm joining the majority but I'm another vote for brushed steel!
@lauren_989 Way to go tracking every bite!!
@conleywoods So so sorry to hear about your guinea pig. Hard news for the family today... thinking of you.
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement! We truly have such a lovely group here. I know for those that know me in person one of the aspects that magnified the transformation aspect was the fact that 99% of my weight loss happened during COVID when I really wasn't seeing anyone. No other time in life could that happen and I could have such a dramatic reveal - usually you see the change slowly a day at a time so that lessens the surprise aspect.
I did quite a bit of walking today - once a month I have a catch up with each member of my team and today two of the guys and I had ours - we walked (and drank coffee) so it was easy to hit my steps from that perspective. So much so that I didn't get my dog out tonight. I will make sure she gets an extra good walk tomorrow, it's very rare I skip one....
In bed now to ensure I get another night of 7+ hours sleep. I've gotten this a couple nights in a row now and it feels good. Work is busy as I wrap up for Vegas so I need all the brain power I can get!
I had no reason not to ride tonight other than we timed out for both of us to get on and tomorrow being a work from home day, I don't mind getting up early to ride first. I may still ride at night - still trying to ride ahead for my program and it's not helping to be skipping days!

Yesterday after all my pendulum swings I was still holding steady at the same weight as last week so some careful tracking and à but if extra effort at Hockey and I have the 3rd week in the green I wanted. Very happy!
Next week we play a double header so I will try to make good choices this weekend (there's a new restaurant that opened at the end of my street that we will be trying out) and not sabotage myself for 4 weeks in the green!3 -

Feels good to get back to this decade. Let’s hope my extra exercise in FL will be a positive thing. I’ll need an extension for next week, unless I get back to my scale before Sunday morning.6 -
Happy Friday!
I was very relieved to see the number on the scale this morning was not too shocking - yesterday was bad, but it came right back off after 1 perfect day, so I'm holding the line at the same as last week. I'd still like to drop a bit closer to the centre of my maintenance range by the end of this month, though. Things are just a tad snugI'm going to get back on my actual outdoor bike soon - haven't used it in ages (I like walking better), but I think it would be good to have another option sometimes. Luckily, my son is an ace bike mechanic and my bike lives at his house.
Off to tackle the ever endless to-do list5 -
Thanks all, going with the existing brushed steel poles! The light fitting itself will match, and the other fittings in the room are chrome, but it's all silver-toned.
@EvMakesChanges I like the idea of an accent colour, just not sure which yet! Plan is to have the green and white in, then see what it needs/what we find. Pewter, pink, purple and turquoise are all potential options. I think gold would've been gorgeous but the rest of the house is silver-based and it was easier to keep it all matching. I'm not a fan of 'mixing metals' or repeating bold colours - orange is the main accent colour in the office.
@conleywoods I'm really sorry about your little guinea pig. Nature feels so unfair sometimes.
I've pretty much stuck to my calorie goal this week which feels impressive considering I was under the weather for a lot of it. I am catching up on some admin now - finished work only 15 minutes late which is commendable given I had 3.5 hours of meetings in 4.5 hours this morning. It was productive, at least, and I don't particularly miss the morning I would've had off.
Once this admin is done, I'm going to start on some chores. I'd like to go down to the allotment (it's my last day of isolation but I shouldn't run in to anybody) but it's really warm, so I'm going to leave that until after dinner, which is a breaded chicken fillet and salad.
Food tomorrow might be a bit trickier as we're out at the event and there's the food one as well as the gardening. Food stalls these days seem to be really OTT brownies or sausage rolls, when I prefer simpler ones, so hopefully I won't be too tempted!5 -
@jugar I know I said I wasn't weighing in this week. I assumed it wasn't going to be a loss after a hard week but I did great.

@jugar OrangeTheory Fitness is the gym that I go to. It's 100% classes so you don't go and work out on your own. The classes vary from 45 minute weight/resistance training, to 60 minute and 90 minute classes with cardio (treadmill, bike, or elliptical), rowing, and resistance training. There is a coach who tells you what to do, makes sure you have correct form, and there is loud music playing. You have a heart rate monitor and you get "splat" points based on the number of minutes you are in the orange or red zone (which is >84% max heart rate). The goal is 12 or more splats per class. It is HIIT based training.
I had been going to a "normal" gym for years. I would try to find resistance training programs online to follow and do the treadmill or elliptical but I never felt like I pushed myself. I have never sweat as much as I do at orange theory! You still get what you put into the workouts, but tracking my heart rate and trying to reach my 12 splat points has really gotten me to push myself!
I have been going there since the end of December and can tell a huge difference in my endurance and strength. If only I had tracked my calories and ate right since December, I would have lost a lot more weight! One step at a time though and now my daily goal is to focus on tracking and staying at my calorie limit.
Today I am about 150 calories over, but we unexpectedly lost power with a crazy thunderstorm, so we couldn't cook what we planned. We ended up going out to eat, but I got a grilled chicken salad 😊 Hopefully the power will be back on soon...2 hours and counting...5 -

The crazy thunderstorms are around here too - in and out of internet and power. I love that you are going to the orangetheory classes - it is much easier to push into those big zones when with others. It is so much harder to do alone! But you're right, even when pushing hard in the gym, if you don't also track the food and eat well, it is hard to take off the weight. It all goes together - good point!
OK gang! Heading into the last day for Week 3. Recruiting for next month is beginning on Sunday, so if you have any friends who might benefit from this kind of team, be sure to invite them! I'll share the link for the sign-up on Saturday, but you can also let me know by pm. We could handle a couple of new people, so your help is always appreciated.
Thanks!2
