Happy Wednesday!
I'm excited to be getting a haircut today (yes, I know I need to get out more...) but sad that my favourite bulk store is closing at the end of the month. There is another branch of the same store, but it is not as close, so I will sorely miss it. I really hate buying plastic, so I fill everything up at this place from vanilla extract to oils, spices, you name it - even a concentrate for almond milk so I can make my own at home. I will stock up today - everything is on sale so I think it will be a good time for deals. Sadly, they opened this new store just before the pandemic started, and they have not had the numbers they need to stay. I wish they'd give it a few more months, but...
I had a great exercise day yesterday, so I'll try again today! I'll be back in the maintenance range for 2 weeks, and will try to stay closer to the middle of my range. I feel for you @ashleycarole86 - it is so much fun to eat all kinds of great food, but you'll get back on track fast, I'm sure.
Enjoy your day, team!6 -
So yesterday wasn't great, I finished the ice cream.... Anyway, at least it's all gone now right ! I did my Scale Back class, and I am not a fan, it's kinda group zoom meeting, and it's an hour long, I honestly did not enjoy it.
Thank for all the advice, I'm not against anti-depressants at all. I've done them in the past when needed. I just hate that I can't get myself out of this funk. I honestly think it has to do with my husband being gone most of the week, and me being by myself. I haven't been by myself for more than a night for 28 years. Now it's 4 days in a row, every week. Sure I go to work, but once I get home, I sit in front of the TV and eat... I have house stuff to do, but I don't do it. I could read, I could exercise, but I don't do it... I don't know... This is going to go on for the rest of the summer into the fall, so I gotta do something, I can't sit home and pout anymore...
I can't really go out, because I feel bad leaving the dogs, they already stay home all day by themselves. So I gotta do something at home... I just don't know what...

You know the exercise will help lift the blah feeling. You know it will do more than just about anything else you can do while pouting at home. Today or tomorrow pre-plan your food for the time you arrive at home, and then put on an exercise video, or only allow yourself the first 30-45 minutes of TV viewing to happen if you are also on the treadmill, exercise bike, or whatever else equipment you might have. Or just marching in place - boring but better than sitting. "I don't do it" isn't you - it is the slump talking. Tell that slump to take a hike for an hour. Being alone is hard, but we're there with you cheering like maniacs the first day you get in here and tell us you did it. Maniacs.6 -
@Gidgitgoescrazy That sounds really hard to have your husband gone a lot when you are use to being together. My husband and I are together a lot and I know we would really struggle with that as well. Maybe you could set up a routine that you check a few things off the list for the evening and then enjoy a phone call or zoom with your husband. Even starting small like 5 minutes of tidying up the living room and then build from there. Maybe just self care stuff. I hope you can get out of your funk. Cut yourself some slack, that's a huge life change. I know I would definitely be sad, pouting and in a funk if my husband were gone for work a bunch.
@DD265 Great job on realizing you were starting to binge and slowing it down. I'm really proud of you for working on this issue and getting help. Sounds like this process has been very insightful.
@ashleycarole86 I think it is so awesome how you are getting your exercise in on vacation and wearing your clothes with confidence! I have no doubt you will be back on track after the trip. I think Vegas would be a hard trip to not over eat on. It's basically set up to promote overindulgence every where you look. Enjoy and you will no doubt bounce back after the trip.
@Kali225 Hope your interview went well!
@jugar The store closing is a real bummer. When you live a ways from shopping, even 15 minutes farther can just feel too far. Enjoy your hair cut! If it makes you feel better, the guys at my house won't even leave the mountain for hair cuts anymore. I'm the official mountain barber whether I like it or not😁
I had an indulgent weekend. My husband and I stayed at a hotel and went to fine dining restaurant. It was great and we ate way to much. We both agreed we hadn't eaten that much since Thanksgiving. My body is definitely not loving the rich food so taking a few days to get back to normal. We had a cocktail and it was tasty but I know alcohol doesn't make my body very happy.
I'm back on track since this Monday with food and exercise. I really need to get to the grocery store. I am back to working on my target heart rate zone for exercise. My watch some how got stuck and showed my heart rate at 51% so I was working harder and harder with no change! I restarted my heart rate track and it shot up to 87%! Phew, problem solved!4 -
Thanks @ashleycarole86 and @conleywoods - I think the interview yesterday went pretty well, but the job overall might not be the fit I/they were looking for, so I won't be shocked if I don't hear from them. I am much more excited and nervous about an interview I have tomorrow. This is the second round with this company and it's a case style interview, which I don't have a lot of practice with, thus major nerves. Doing as much prep as I can the last few days. I am much more interested in this job than the one yesterday.
However, if it doesn't work out, I heard back from 2 more applications that I will be moving forward in the process (one will be an interview Friday afternoon, other undecided) so I am not at square one if I mess up the case!
Decided to try for a little jog today in my walk and it felt good to get the extra calories and the HR up - but wow, is chub rub real. I wear out so many leggings. Which doesn't feel as good but that's why I gotta get back to jogging! My foot felt okay afterwards. Hoping I can rejoin the step team soon.
I love making playlists on Spotify for the seasons. My Summer 2022 list is in full swing. What's a song that really makes you feel like summertime?3 -
I'm not late this week yay! No change in the weight department, it's my birthday today so I guess it's good that I'm not having to weigh myself tomorrow haha6

Hi! That's a cute bear.
Happy birthday @AshenMoon!
@ashleycarole86 I'm one of those people who packs exercise clothes when they go on vacation and they never leave the suitcase. Your amount of exercise will more than compensate for minor indulgences. This is a once in a lifetime type of experience, right? Get the most out of the opportunity, you have the tools already in place to get back on track after. I'm mean, seriously, you're burning calories just from the heat!

My go to is 'Sun is Up' by INNA. My old Crossfit gym had that in the playlist for our 7am Bootcamp class. It always pumped me up and cheered me up.
I survived both of my hockey games tonight with only a minor overdose of caffeine. I once again forgot to start my watch for one of the games so I can't really compare which one was harder. SOMEDAY I will remember....
Hoping for a nice number on the scale tomorrow. I saw one I hadn't seen in a over a decade on Tuesday but yesterday the pendulum swung back up. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. I think I might have 4 weeks in the green. 🤞
@Gidgitgoescrazy what's the plank status post-surgery? I wrote the quote you said about 'I won't get stronger by crying over it' on a card and taped it to my office wall. It helps me refocus when I'm frustrated. Progress over perfection. I hope you find something to fill your evenings with that makes you happy.5 -
Here I am still not getting it together. My husband rocked my world in an unwanted way this afternoon. He wanted me to measure his waist. (He has put on some weight too) Then I stupidly wrapped that measuring tape around me and saw a number I’ve never seen!!! Even at a higher weight!!!! My hip/belly was at 50 inches! I could not believe it, yet I did. I’ve never seen that and now I’m sad/mad at me. I know it’s true because I can see/feel the weight I’ve put on. I don’t like the way I feel. So many challenges, but they are not going away. Hurumph!😔😩😢 Must get it together.
I bought a new pair of sneakers today with a coupon I had for my birthday month. Tomorrow I will find a new route to walk. This not walking can’t go on. We have been taking walks. I just need a good walk from my new home too. Something I can easily get out and do regularly.
My good friend just did a 60 hour fast and is doing keto. Don’t think that’s for me, but it got me thinking about cutting back on carbs. I’ve got to do something. I need a fitness boot camp if I’m going to be in a class of 4 year olds come September!
@Gidgitgoescrazy Hugs to you. Having your husband away 4 days must be quite the adjustment. It would be for me as well.
@Kali225 Good luck with all the interviews. I know you will find just what you are looking for. Let us know how it goes.
@CarolAnnM2 HELLO!! 👋🏼
@conleywoods I love your workout room. And I’ll say it again, I love how you and your husband make time together doing fun and special things a priority.
@ashleycarole86 LV sounds great! Glad you’re having fun and getting in those remarkable step counts. I know you’ll get right back on it when you return home.
@jugar Sorry to hear about your favorite store closing. That’s always a bummer. Hopefully you got some great deals and stocked up.
@AshenMoon HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!! 🥳🎂🎉
@DD265 Good job controlling the binge. Hope you liked the movie. Glad you and hubby are feeling well again.
So, time for me to get some sleep. Tomorrow I weigh, measure, walk, log, drink 💦 ( I did get a new bottle that helps me drink more water. It flows more easily 🤷🏻♀️)
🙂6 -
@AshenMoon Happy Birthday 🎂 Hope you have a wonderful day!
@PlaneMonkey I am also guilty of not starting my watch or just leaving it at home 😅 Glad hockey went well!
@CarolAnnM2 Hello and love the little bear!
@Kali225 So nice to have so many options for the job search. Fingers crossed you find the right job.
@micki48 You will definitely be moving a ton in your 4 year old preschool room! There's a reason a lot of the preschool teachers I work with wear yoga pants most days! Good luck getting a routine going.
I still need to go grocery shopping and it kind of messed up my food today. I made good choices but I just ran out of time to eat and am about 50g short on protien. We went to the lake to help set up and clean the dock, do some boat work and launch the boat. It took longer than we thought so I missed my snack at 2:30. Dinner was late and then it was too late and I just couldn't eat my evening snack. My husband and I had massages today at 3:00 today. Felt great but contributed to the weird schedule. No exercise today. Tomorrow I am up early for CPR training. I really don't want to go. I think I have had a CPR card since I was 12 or 13. With a renewal every 2 years I am just over taking CPR. Something tells me that will not be the case and I can plan on taking it about a dozen more times in my career 🙃 At least it's only a half day and then I will get to the grocery store!2 -
Good morning. made some changes this past week - I've at LEAST been logging in and reading all your posts and getting some inspiration. The stress eating hasn't been resolved - in habit tracker, I'd put that I'd go out and weed when I was heading for the fridge - I'd have an amazing garden by now if I'd actually got that habit to stick. But I did make my veg soup and have other good ingredients in the fridge. All for now.5

I'm not surprised. We had an indulgent weekend and I have been slacking since. We leave for vacation on Sunday. I will pack my workout clothes...let's see if I use them!
@jugar I will need to be excused next week. We will be traveling and I won't have a scale.4 -
Sorry I went AWOL and did not post the nagging last night - I'm sure you are all bereft! Our power went out at around 5 and just came back on a few minutes ago. Wind. The Hydro Québec grid is getting wimpy, I swear.
In any case, the only weigh-ins expected for today are @ashleycarole86 (who could certainly take an EXC week while on the road ) and @PlaneMonkey . I hope you're hitting that 4th week in the green! So far our first person to do that this month is @CarolAnnM2 - fantastic 6 pounds gone this month. Hello indeed!
@micki48 it is good to "hear" your voice. I think you'll be able to shrink that dreaded number over the next two months and be more ready for your little charges. New walking shoes and routes are a great start. Getting on the mat with Pilates - we do that together, right? And yes, cutting down some of those carbs can make a big difference, even though you love to bake and take care of all your people with delicious goodies. You can do those small changes
OK - off and running.6 -
@PlaneMonkey as for the plank status, there isn't one. I have not even tried one.
I am feeling better, this is going to sound weird, but I think just admitting what is bothering me, and making me feel down, has made me feel better. Maybe I just had to throw it into the universe, and the universe will fix it for me !
Last night was good, I was within calories, and I didn't snack. I also didn't get home till an hour past my normal time because I had the drs appt. He wouldn't put me on any new meds, as I had scheduled the appt for a check up - so it was a preventative appt, and we aren't allowed to discuss any new issues... (SO STUPID !!! ) anyway, I have a new appt to discuss that and weightloss on July 5th.
My youngest son was supposed to come home, well we were supposed to go visit him, but it's alot cheaper to fly one person home, than 3 people, and rent a car to visit him, although I do really want to see where he is living, he will be there probably his whole Air Force career, so hopefully prices will be more reasonable in a year. Anyway, he was going to come home July 8th, but now he has to have his wisdom teeth removed July 13th - so it's up in the air now...
Today after work, I am going to my old, old job to help them straighten out their books, apparently the lady they hired after me, wasn't doing what she was supposed to do, and hadn't reconciled anything for over a year, and didn't put any labor costs in at all.. So I have to analyze everything and come up with a game plan to fix it. I LOVE stuff like this... I always thought it would be really fun to have a company where I went to small construction companies and helped them with their books. I love the part of figuring it out, and making everything pretty. I just don't really care for the day to day minutia work... lol.
Okay, I've rambled enough.. Have a great day !

Tiny tiny green loss. I'll take it.
@Gidgitgoescrazy your Dr isn't being nice. That's annoying. But I agree that putting it out to the universe and just admitting aloud your struggles takes a lot of the pressure off and helps the mood. Glad you're feeling better.
Enjoy your vacation @KellyBgetsfit!
@jugar we have been having rolling intermittent blackouts, sometimes for an hour, sometimes for just a few seconds, but multiple times a day. A lot of it is the remaining lower priority cleanup from last month's derecho storm. The broken trees that weren't on the lines after that storm are now falling in the subsequent wind squalls. C'est fatiguant!5 -
Do I need to do anything to register for July? I know I haven't been super active, but the accountability is helping and I'd like to continue.2

@jugar
Just heading for the airport now. I will weigh in tomorrow instead. Thanks!3 -
Good Morning WA's ... You have a new member joining your awesome team ... Please welcome @robinhardysmall2

Welcome to our little family @robinhardysmall .. looking forward to getting to know you!!1

Welcome! @robinhardysmall0
-
so maybe I need to do this every morning before I start my eating day....try on a pair of jeans I used to fit into last year. Ugh...just home from work and getting into garden gear...grabbed the wrong pair of jeans!! grrr....5
-
@jugar you reminded me I also really need a haircut. Putting that on the Saturday list!
@CarolAnnM2 HELLO! love the pic.
@robinhardysmall welcome!
@eggfreak I may join you on that idea - putting my bathing suit on first thing in the morning each day? I had taken out a dress in January to hang on my door as a reminder through the year but obviously that wasn't enough!
@ashleycarole86 you are brave for bumping the weigh-in to the day after you get home from vacay! But I bet you'll be surprised, with all that walking and machine workouts...
@micki48 you are hanging in there! get a walk in, first thing in the morning - that's the ticket for me. just make the time and get out there.
I think my interview went pretty well! It seemed like good feedback at the end. Fingers crossed I hear from the recruiter tomorrow or Monday about next steps...
I have a new favorite workout on FitOn - Lower Body Barre. All bodyweight, 20 min, and it reminded me so much of ballet class. I miss dancing so much, so this felt great and was great for calories. Got the HR up immediately.5 -
@eggfreak and @Kali225 you Boston area people have great ideas! Putting on those jeans, a bathing suit, or leaving some bit of inspirational clothing around is seriously effective! I had this little jeans dress hanging front and centre for a long time, and it feels great every single time I put it on.

Apologies Ive been MIA! I've been still researching diet and it looks like I will be adapting to a ketogenic lifestyle. There is a fat adaptation phase where you gain weight initially before you start losing weight. How long it takes for each individual person's body to start using fat as an energy source varies. I'm not sure how to proceed with the group during this transition. Please let me know what you think. TIA!2 -
@jugar I’m focused! Green is my favourite color.4
