That rock garden doesn't sound easy to clean, PAV. Maybe a heavy duty shop vac?1

Girl has 25 kg of tilapia in the freezer now! Had a 10% points on fish plus tilapia was on sale at the pre inflation prices. .. and other than the points I got back the previously available stock of points has become fish instead of Halloween candy😹2

The Sergeant and I walked for thirty minutes this morning! He pulled a lot at the start but he is learning that he gets there just fine and without being all choked if he slows down a tad to human speeds.
What I want to do is to get him a membership to the dog park downtown; it's close to where I drop Boyfriend off for work, and a couple times a week it would do him no harm to ride downtown to drop Boyfriend off, and then go and run at the park for a while before we went home.2 -
Man, it rained today here in Athens. While the temp went down a tad, the combination of heat and moisture was absolutely brutal, I had to shower three times today...
At least I managed to get some groceries for the week at my farmers market (we got one coming in the neighborhood every Monday, and another somewhat close on Firdays). There was a good deal in apricots (they are coming out of season now), so I grabbed some.
I really love August because two of my favorite fruits are coming in season. Figs and grapes! Figs are still a little pricey right now, but managed to grab a couple of kgs of white grapes for starters.
Also, got me a bunch of Okra to make an olive stew, I will have to let them out to dry for a couple of days tho first (and the rain didn't help today)!
Lastly, got a haircut.
Not sure about the result (had to change barbers since my regular is on vacation lol), but it's hair! It will grow back..sooner or later!3 -
Oh, and purslane! Was lucky to find some this time around (the guy that tends to have it comes and goes as he pleases, twas a month till I last saw him in the market), So this is officially purslane-tomato salad week!2

Lookin good. You do have spectacularly amazing green eyes!2

My day started with the gym. I had hoped to walk outside but it was terribly humid. It’s finally down in the low 90s and upper 80s after three months. And rain - thunderstorms and daily rain this week. The plants and trees are very happy. As with everything is bigger in Texas we now have flash flooding. But I’m enjoying the dark skies, lack of sun and the lovely sounds of rain on the roof.3

Did a second walk and that one may have been too much for my feet. I am probably going to sit down now until bedtime. Ow.2

Congratulations, PAV. I'm sure the furry one is pleased with this too
(This was a message I wrote quite a while ago I can't even remember what it was in response to but I think it might have something to do with buying fish rather than Halloween candy)2 -
I'm glad it's cooling off for you Yooly - though it doesn't sound very cool 🔥
Now I have to go Google purslane...🙂1 -
Me too. I know purslane as a hardy low growing flowering plant. A landscape plant. But I guess like dandelions, purslane can be eaten? I don’t know of any sold here as edible.
Just got our cable tv, WiFi and electric power back on after three hours. Storm damage I guess from the latest downpour. No matter how well insulated the house, you feel the lack of air conditioning quickly. Mercifully it was only about 90 outside and getting dark but the humidity is impossible. I can’t imagine how the previous generations survived without AC!1 -
Have been maintaining weight as per doctor's orders--staying between 150 and 151 lbs until I finish my radiation 9/6. Chemo starts 9/21 after my trip to Phoenix for my singing competition, and I have been guaranteed to lose my hair, so today was wig shopping day and I am pretty pleased with the one I chose!

It’s so good to see you’re doing well and that you’re going to Phoenix for the competition. 🎉 The wig is a winner. Looks terrific and will get you through some less than stellar days. Sometimes looking good is pretty important too,
And congratulations on keeping your weight goals through the course of radiation!2 -
Looking pretty great, Wisewoman. You are such an inspiration. Holding down the fort (weight) no matter what. Good for you.2
-
Looks terrific actually and very glad to hear your heading to the competition!2
-
I am back once again….hopefully I am staying!….I will catch up with everyone soon…I have been out of commission with superficial blood clots in my left calf….but I am ok!3
-
Goodness Connie- hope you’re doing better. Do come back and join us again.2
-
That sounds frightening, Connie. How are you feeling?2
-
Connie? What Laurie said!0

It’s been almost two weeks and it is better than it was but very slow healing….the ER made the wrong diagnosis so thank goodness for my regular doctor who sent me for an ultra sound on my leg…the ER had even prescribed an antibiotic for me that I didn’t need….it was such a strong med it would have cured any disease known to man!…I am trying to keep my leg elevated as much as I can but it is slow going….
Glad so many of you are still here and keeping at it!….1 -
Sounds horrendous Connie - thank goodness for your regular doctor! Blood clots are no joke...

@jenniferelizabethwiseman the wig looks amazing! And kudos to you for still going on your singing trip. A positive mindset can make such a difference to one's recovery, so you're doing great. And well done, too, for maintaining your weight under such stressful circumstances! You're an inspiration!4

So today is my 75th birthday! It all seems to have gone by so fast. And how the heck did I get so old?
I’m off to San Antonio with hubby today to meet a friend - former student I mentored. She’s here on business and I haven’t seen her in years.
Several good reason to celebrate today without cake 🎂.3 -
Whoop whoop! Happy birthday Yooly! You certainly have the mental flexibility of someone considerably younger, which bodes well for a fun and interesting older age! Have a blast in San Antonio! And don't turn down cake if it's offered - just have a small slice!2
-
Good thing I have some mental flexibility because the other parts are getting creaky and cranky. At least the brain seems to be working okay - so far. 🥹1

Happy Birthday!1

Happy birthday Yooly!! Enjoy your trip!1

I'm reeling a bit this morning after receiving some bad news from my sister last night. Her bile duct cancer is inoperable as it's metastasized throughout her whole liver, gall bladder and lymph nodes. There is no viable tissue left in her liver, so regeneration is out of the question, as is surgical intervention or even liver transplantation. The cancer is too far advanced for a transplant to be considered. She's opted for aggressive chemo to try to arrest the spread, but it's not a cure and best case prognosis is 18 months, with very unpleasant symptoms to contend with as the liver shuts down completely. It's knocked me for six, to tell the truth... and given me so much to ponder over and think about. She has such a hard path ahead of her, with no happy ending. I had a sleepless night thinking about what I'd want to do with my life if I only had 18 months left at most...boy, it really does make you think...5

Have a great day you mental gymnast, Yooly! Maybe a new outfit in lieu of cake?!1
