Good morning Shape Shifters. I am going to see how long I can keep up 20k steps a day. So far I am at 5 days in a row. It doesn't really feel that hard to do honestly. Probably because I have a lot of free time (basically every day is free time). I try to step a lot the first half of the day so that I will be at 14k in hour 14:00. Then I only need to do 1k steps every hour until I go to bed. It seems to work well.
Friday I went to the vet with Tinus for his yearly vaccination. She briefly looked him over, and he is all healthy. Though I did notice he started to limp again about a week ago. So far it is very minor so I will give it some time unless it gets worse again. But he is a happy cat. Later in the day I got a package from amazon with new fitbit bands (thanks again for the tip Jess). My band broke again on Thursday; this time the bits holding the metal clasp ripped. I did superglue that so I could use it until the new ones arrived the next day. I love my new bands! They are so much softer and more comfortable than the stiff and sweaty original bands. They also change the look of the watch a lot. Instead of bulky, I think it is cute now. I got a set of 3 for only 18 euros so I am really happy with them. Saturday was a pretty boring day. I just did laundry and got some groceries.
Yesterday morning I spotted a new bird in my tiny willow tree. I was really excited so I texted my mom about it. Half an hour later I got a phonecall from her partner to tell me that my aunt had passed away early that morning. I could hear my mom crying in the background; she was too upset to inform people herself. I haven't talked to her yet (she will call me today) but what I know so far is that my aunt fell the night before. She got a bleed in her brain that they were unable to get under control and that just kept getting worse. It is a little strange to think she didn't pass from her illess, but from something like a fall. Though if she wasn't sick, she probably wouldn't have fallen in the first place. We knew she wasn't going to get better; they were mostly buying her time. Makes me wonder if this was the better way to go though. For my aunt maybe. She has been really depressed and crying most of the day because she knew she was at the end of her life. I hope she is in a better place. Sorry to end on a such a depressing note. I am fine. I really liked my aunt, but we weren't close, so I just feel bad for the people who were.
I will share some pictures from the garden so we have something to enjoy as well. A small copper butterfly, a tiny frog I found behind my backdoor (I moved it to a safer spot in the back of the garden), a cute blue tit and the 'new' bird; a common chiffchaff. Take care everyone

@jessicakrall8, Hi Jess! Now that I'm recording more regularly, is it best to just report new steps, rather than running totals? (I think I missed out of the August challenge due to inconsistency.)
Thanks! (Carole)

Hi Carole @Walela617 ! Yes, please only report new steps...anything you re-report, I have to double check, so a long list takes a lot of time to double check. Thanks for caring enough to ask...I appreciate it very much! Great stepping you're doing!! Can't wait to hear about your Walk coming up! I love those!

@pupowl Very sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing...may your memories of her make you smile...and may you find peace when you think of her no longer in pain.
Glad you like the new bands...you got a great deal! I'm keeping my eye out for a good set of sheets for you...then I'll figure out how to get them to you somehow!! Queen size or what?

@nancyinmo, just curious but do you live in Missouri? If so, where?2
-
@Armygirlarmyof1 I currently live in Springfield, MO. Native New Yorker, but relocated here in 2000 due to my husband’s job (he’s a professor at MSU). We both just retired and are planning a move back East next year. Are you from around these parts?3

@Susanna527 Thank you very much.
@Yukie_OP Glad you liked the pictures!
@jessicakrall8 Thank you! Please don't worry about the bedsheets. Summer is over now, so I have like 10 months to figure something out. It will be fine! You are very sweet to offer though, but I am sure I will find something.3 -
Step Count
9/11 5,775 Sunday was a pretty lazy day. We went to a bbq and I ate way too much (ribs, potato salad, baked beans....you get the picture). Not to mention the wine. Gonna work on upping the step count this week.

Congratulations @nancyinmo! That’s the kind of news we love to hear! Thanks for sharing your success story — very motivating!
@Pupowl — 🤩 A ‘clean sweep’ on the step challenge! Congratulations to all the ShapeShifters who compete in the monthly step challenge. Every one of you who participated beat me!! 😂🤣😂
It’s a good reminder to all of us — working hard to improve ourselves each day — that to ‘win’, we have to enter the arena! Stay strong 💪 everyone and keep marching forward.2
