Wow awesome job team!!
Finally checking in - going to recommit this week to daily check-ins here. just have to put it on the to-do list and I will be compelled to check it off.
Quick update from me - I have had a few better days in a row. Don't want to count my chickens early but I am feeling better mentally, too. Although Friday was a real curveball at the new job and it will mean a tough week this week. And I leave for North Carolina thursday night - I have so many weekend trips and visitors ahead of me which is just so hard when trying to lose weight. But not impossible!
Also, I built my bed and 2 bedside tables this weekend! And I am totally in love with my new rug. I'll share some before/after pics once I am done decorating (probably in November).

Hello, So glad to be on the leader board this week! The weekend has been okayish for food. Not great but not so bad either. Went to a BBQ and I don't know why but I just can't slow my self down food wise at those. Workouts were a success for the weekend. I even tried a yoga with Adrienne video and really liked it. We started getting the firewood put in the wood shed. My husband and I finally got the infrared sauna blankets out. We did a short session thinking we needed to build up but probably should have just gone for the normal time. My workout clothes are already set up in the gym and I have all 5 of the families lunches packed! Ready for Monday but wish it wasn't here so quickly!5

Monday? We're coming for you - with some of our best
@CarolAnnM2 - excused and recovering from hip replacement. Hope all is going well!

@MoonlitMuse
Have a great Monday!3 -
Tackling some incredible hills in San Francisco. It was pretty neat walking by these narrow multimillion dollar jewel box houses. It was rainy and breezy, but I persevered. I splurged today and had a bowl of clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf. And.. got take out from a trendy dimsum place. But, it was a killer hill work out there and back to the hotel. I thought about taking the trolley, but the wait in line was as long as the walk back! I am going to wait till Wednesday to weigh myself. Assess the damage!

@jugar I don’t want to be excused, unless it’s for the Team.
Weigh in Day: MONDAY
PW: 200.8
CW: 203.8
😃 💃🏼 I am quite happy with this because my new hip weighs anywhere from 3 - 5 lbs and the bone removed weighs a little less (forgot to ask the surgeon exactly how much mine weighed).
This is my new starting point for Journey to Hip Number 2 - 203.8 - which I expect to get within 3-4 months. My goal for Journey to Hip Number 2 is 40 pounds and it starts today.9 -

I am not getting my workouts in. I am struggling with 5am wakeup. Today, my alarm went off, but I was so tired, I just stayed in bed for 45 minutes. I slept for less then 6 hours, but I didn't fall back asleep so I should have just myself get up. I like how I feel after I workout. I like how I look when I am working out. I need to figure out how to get in workouts and sleep8

@ashleycarole86 major correction!!! I meant 12 min mile pace which is NOT 12 mph!!! That would be 5mph. Lol.4

Woohoo! Glad the new hip is IN and there you are already planning hard for the next one. You are going to be another @bowens1973 I made things all nice by changing your weight for last week and dividing up the new hip weight. Now you're on track for hitting your new goal3 -
@KellyBgetsfit yikes - 6 hours is certainly not enough sleep! Absolutely no shame in shutting down the alarm and staying in bed. I know those workouts feel great afterwards, but so does sleep. Some HIIT style workouts are pretty short - maybe you can work one of those in a little envelope of time sometime during the day. I hope you find a plan so that you can feel good two ways instead of just one!4

Awesome! Thank you @jugar2

Quick check in. Hope everyone is hanging in there. @CarolAnnM2 So glad you are doing well and already planning for the next hip. You go, girl.
Today was busy at school -- ahem "on the farm". That's our theme this week. It was a busy day and just finished a virtual Back to School Night.
Need to go log my food and drink some water. My steps are done. Love to you all. Hope everyone gets some good sleep.5 -
Today was back to work after such a great vacation! I take on my new responsibilities at work now as the lady who retired left while I was on holidays so I now have new direct reports, new tasks, and no guidance! Deep breaths.
Got through the day and even squeezed in a walk with Brad at lunch before he hit the road for work. After work I cooked a simple supper for my Mom and I, and now I'm watching the Bills. I took my dog out for another quick walk at half time and I plan to hit the Peloton after the game. Hopefully I can get it all done and still get to bed at a reasonable time!

@Kali225 Can't wait for the decorating pics! I've tried swimming laps for exercise before and I can't stick with it for long... glad you like it. Is access to a pool an easy option for you?
@micki48 I think you should add a strong step showing to your success! Good consistency you've been showing.. keep it up!
@conleywoods This sentence "We started getting the firewood put in the wood shed. My husband and I finally got the infrared sauna blankets out" gave me such fall vibes. It's that time and you make it sound delicious!!
@bobagurl2017 Ah San Fran, how lovely! I haven't been there in so long... your steps are always so impressive and it's nice to hear your adventures by foot are taking you by some fun places!
@CarolAnnM2 You are so badass!! Neat about the hip weight - didn't realize the difference. Love that you have your goal set for hip 2 and I have no doubt you'll reach it!
@KellyBgetsfit I agree with @jugar - it can be a tough call between sleep and exercise and I know what you mean about how good exercise makes you feel but lack of sleep just makes everything suck too. Think you made the right choice.

Phew - just finished my bike trip through an episode of something exciting enough for me to pile on an extra couple of miles. Time for a shower!
Reminder first - weigh-ins due through Tuesday:

The weekend wasn’t great! We went to the fair on Sunday, fun times and good food 😁 today has been a good day for food and exercise!!5

Good morning waistaways!
First- I need a pass on weighing in this week. I did test negative and now I'm at Disney! I'm making decent meal choices, but lots of alcohol lol, so who knows what my weight will do this week, and I didn't bring my scale.
Second- the performance! All the girls were so good, coming off the pole in splits, doing wild spins, so I felt a little self conscious when we moved to the fitness room for chair routines.
But the second my song came on (1 2 step by Ciara) the room erupted in cheers and everyone in the crowd sang along. One of the girls was recording me with my phone, and the founder of the gym was watching from a spot on the floor behind me, and I could see that some of my dance puns made her laugh, so that was great.
(For example, when Ciara says "swing it over here" I was swinging my hips side to side to bump the floor, or when I was just doing hand motions sitting on top of the chair being missy Elliot and she says "sophisticated fun" I squatted down on the chair to twerk, lol)
I did perform a perfect chair dive, so that much went well.
I accidentally kicked the chair over in the middle of the routine, but bless everyone in the room, no one did anything different, just kept cheering. A girl behind me's eyes got real big, but didn't say anything, and the crowd in general was very supportive.
So it was a good time! I wasn't as good as most of the other performers, but my song had such a different feel from the rest of the songs (generally slow, sexy, grindy) that I think everyone in the crowd really got into my song choice itself and had a good time.
So that was performance! I'm glad I did it, and equally glad it's over. Since I cought covid from the gym, I'm wondering how many people got it from there when I did, so it will be interesting to go back next week and ask around.
Have a great day, everyone!8 -
@jugar can I please switch my weigh in day to Fridays? My hockey league just swapped our games from Mondays to Thursday nights and I really like the advantage that amount of sweating and skating gives my weigh in the next day. 😉

Here's my weigh in:
PW - 238.8
CW - 237.4
CarolAnn2 said "my new hip weighs anywhere from 3 - 5 lbs." I never thought about what the device weighed. I have had replacements on both right and left. Life is so much better with them. 😊

Tuesday Weigh-in

Winds have shifted. It's like I can feel my brain in these big swings - when I can commit to the plan and then when it switches off and I cannot get back on the horse for weeks at a time. Frustrating overall. Trying to ride this wave into my favorite season. Would love to feel a little more comfy in jeans and sweaters a few weeks from now.
@micki48 I'm all for being optimistic about my running future but I think we can safely put a 5 minute mile in the "not gonna happen" column
@ashleycarole86 my new apartment building has an indoor pool open 6am-10pm all year long. You can reserve a time slot too outside "free swim" hours and so far I have always had the place to myself around 6-7pm. I did 10 laps freestyle, 10 laps breast stroke, 10 laps backstroke, and 4 laps elementary backstroke + 5 min treading water. I was always a fish as a kid so I think this could be a game-changer.
@CarolAnnM2 you are kicking hips and taking names, girl! Quite inspiring.
Having a good day myself - up early to jog & walk, and get a lower body barre workout in before catching the train to work. Planning to walk briefly at lunch, too. And yoga near bedtime to help me wind down and fall right asleep, I hope. I have to put my phone down sooner when I get into bed.

@Kali225 You are killing it! So inspiring to hear where you are right now. I'm so happy for you. Having a pool available to you and liking seems like a great combination. Keep it up.
@CupcakeCrusoe Congratulations on your performance! So happy for you. You are brave and inspiring. Nice that you tested negative to be able to take your trip. Around my work lately, there are lots of people testing positive.
@ashleycarole86 I have no doubt that you will do great with your new responsibilities at work. I hope they recognize all that you do there.
I have 5 children sleeping currently and 11 trying to rest quietly with quiet bags. LOL It's not bad, but wouldn't say quiet. They really are a good class. I've hear lots of "it's hard" lately and I keep telling them, they can do hard things. I guess we could all use that thought in our heads. I know I can/should. Got to go confiscate a "quiet bag" that's not being used quietly.5 -
I have been thinking about "quiet bags" all afternoon! Thanks for the mental fodder @micki48 And yes, the thought that we can do hard things is one of the best.
@Kali225 and @JEB03253 - great job! Wonderful progress this past week. Keep it up!
We're getting a heat pump system installed over the next 2 days, so it is going to be kind of wild around here. Luckily, I have to leave tomorrow afternoon for the first session for our wool project. I'm sure it will be interesting - a fibre artist friend, my electronic music collaborator and I will have the first meeting with a group of half recent immigrant and half local resident women in Valcourt, Québec. Over the next 8 weeks, they will create a work out of wool, and we sound people will record the sessions and then build a piece that will be integrated into the final wool sculpture via tiny speakers and controllers. It sure beats watching people install heat systems! I enjoy being part of the compositional process without having to be THE composer. There are more hybrid kinds of collaborative creation than there used to be, and I think it is a good thing.
Today was a low movement day, but I did manage a tough Pilates workout and my daily practice session. Tomorrow, back on the bike.
I hope everyone is getting through work days, planning, sticking with planning, and generally being fabulous humans. I know you are!

Agreed! I love being in the pool at work. It’s one of my favorite places to move with joy!
I have 5 children sleeping currently and 11 trying to rest quietly with quiet bags. LOL It's not bad, but wouldn't say quiet. They really are a good class…”they can do hard things”. I guess we could all use that thought in our heads…
Amen! I love podcasts with women who talk about doing hard things. It’s definitely reassuring.
I’m on a roll sleeping better this week and starting to feel more centered. Yay!
My work has a big shindig tomorrow afternoon and then our yearly department “play time together” on Thursday afternoon. One would think having them further apart would make sense but, nope!
Well, nigh night!
More soon.
Xoxo

@CarolAnnM2 So thrilled to hear you are doing well and ready to prep for surgery on that second hip!
@jugar Your project with the wool sounds so fun and unique! Will you post pictures? I'd love to hear it too but not sure if that will work.
@micki48 At my preschool I offer this lovely service to my teachers. I will show up at nap time and take non nappers away to my therapy gym for OT for half an hour! I had no idea how popular this would be. Next year our team will list slots for our no naps club and take bribes.
I am doing good this week. Hitting my macros and getting those 5 AM workouts in. I'm definitely feeling more tired in the mornings and I really have to be strict about my bed time 😴 This morning I laid in bed for a few minutes debating whether to get up. I can hear the guinea pigs zooming around in their cage which is in my workout room. Curiosity got the best of me and I had to get in there and see what they were up to.5 -
@CupcakeCrusoe
Wow, what an experience! Thanks for sharing - sounds like you crushed it. Glad it was a room of supportive people (as it should be). Have a blast at Disney!
@micki48 Thanks for the kind words... finding it hard not to feel mega overwhelmed. Trying to take it easy on myself but I always expect a lot of me so these transitions are hard.
Lots of talk of sleep and bedtimes in the group lately. I just cannot get myself to bed on time, and it stresses me out! Although i just looked at my last week and my total average sleep was 7 hours and 46 minutes, so it's not bad.. I know a lot of that is vacation though and it starts to dwindle to 6.5-7 hours... I want to be in bed more but I'm just not getting there!
I did a Peloton workout again tonight, second night it a row. It's a hard week in the program and I felt it (but it felt good!) Happy to be back in the swing of things.

Just looking for your week 2 exercise if you have it! Don't want to miss you2 -
Today has been a other great day!! I did great with food, worked out, went for a walk, and my son and I are still doing our sit-ups nightly!5
