@micki48 Congrats on the sale of the NC house. With your son living there it's nice it went quickly so he didn't have to keep it in constant "showing ready" mode. Fingers crossed he gets one of those jobs, that will be a relief for you I'm sure.
Yesterday I did squeeze in 10 minutes of weights and a 10 minute climb ride on the Peloton. I also had two meals out. Eek! Today is a quiet day around the house, so I'll get on the bike for a longer ride.
The cold and wintery weather is not releasing us yet... we did get out for a quick walk as well but it's on the borderline for my little dog. We'll hopefully do the same today.5 -

Thanks Ashley! He was sure busy keeping himself busy getting out of the house during the showings! Thank you for the job good wishes!! I will take any and all good vibes that he secures a job in the coming week or so. Then to figure out all the other pieces. Removing all stuff from the house, new apartment, a car that needs to be moved with someone. On top of that my daughter and family will be moving into their new house in about two weeks. There is sickness in this house (my granddaughter has a fever and cough, my daughter is feeling nauseous). Too much to do for anyone to be sick.
My hips have been killing me today. I have been doing some stretching but probably not enough. My Pilates membership lapsed accidentally after I had a credit card breach. I need to renew. My body is missing it. I also should take a short walk and see if that helps.
I need to put my life on one of those divided plates to keep things in order and moving smoothly. lol So many things to think about, but I have to prioritize me too. I know we all have busy lives that we have to navigate. How do you do it? Today, I will be sure to drink my water, eat a healthy meal, and take a short walk.
@ashleycarole86 Steps for the week...

We just set the clocks ahead so it will be lighter when I get home from work. Hopefully I can increase the low step days Mon, Wed, Fri when I am not going to the gym.
I have been using the lose it app for tracking and if you don't have premium, it doesn't give you too much info about the food you are eating (just overall calories, fats, carbs, and proteins). I was curious how much sodium I was eating because I tend to get thirsty at night. So yesterday I tracked in mfp and omg!! We did eat out one meal (I got a BLT and then we bring it home and so I had some veggies on the side instead of fries or chips), but yesterday I ate 4,400 mg of sodium 😯 That's more than double what I should eat in a day. I have started looking at the nutrition label on my foods and it's surpising how much sodium is in pasta sauce! I tend to stay away from canned soups because I know those are high in salt.
So I'm toying with the idea of going premium on mfp or lose it. Do any of you have the premium options and which do you prefer?2 -
Well I just saw that mfp is $80 for a year and lose it is $20 for a year, so that may influence my decision some 😂4

I feel like that teeny drop was hard fought for this week! The scale was actually up 3 lbs most of the week so this may be the beginning of woosh, we will see.
This week felt like it was impossible to plan anything - things were popping up everyday that threw a wrench in the works. So yesterday I did some reflecting and decided to focus on water, eating more protein, and ramping workouts up. I can adjust to whatwver life or qork things pop-up and still drink water and eat peotein. I may not workout when I planned but I can push myself when I do.
Yesterday I did all 3 rounds of a tabata workout from Burpee Girl for the first time! I'd only been able to do 2 rounds before.
Hopefully I can check-in more this week!5 -

@adrimango
I think the way you handled your week is exactly what I'm trying to focus on and I feel like it answers @micki48 as well
Sometimes when things get busy and the best laid plans get disrupted it feels like throwing in the towel on all the good choices is the answer because meeting all the goals feels overwhelming
That's when you need to pause on expectations. We all know doing something is better than nothing. And often we are more critical of our choices that we should be.
There are things that aren't where I want them now, but that doesn't mean I can't do everything I can to move the needle in the right direction.
And most importantly, I'm really trying to focus on turning my mentality around quickly when I suffer a setback so I'm not beating myself up for a long period of time5 -
@micki48 don't forget our fave Pilates app has a free 14-day program starting tomorrow! So even if you don't get paid up again, you can get started. They are putting the emphasis on stress relief, and 15 minutes max, I think. Lots of breath work along with. It sounds like it would be a great thing for you to do
@lauren_989 In the free MFP app I get sodium and lots of other things in there. I have never paid for premium, and it is there when I click the "nutrition" thing at the bottom of the diary page, under exercise. I hope you have it too! I know there are some differences with what is free in different locations. But yeah, you have to watch out for the crazy sodium amounts in some things
@ashleycarole86 you are spot on about managing expectations and giving up when life happens. As it does. Remember the No Zero Days - as long as you do one thing for "tomorrow you" every day, and thank "yesterday you" for what you did the day before, you are not just doing zero for yourself. You are moving the needle! Hugs flying your way too
I'm getting the tracking and eating back on course, and checking off more stuff on the habit tracker again. I let things slide last week while travelling, but it is going better now. It is kind of like a joke that is funny no matter how many times you hear it, or a song that just makes you feel great every time - no matter how many times you get back to healthier eating and exercise, it feels wonderful. It doesn't have to be perfect, but getting even to the edges of the "good zone" is lovely.7 -

@micki48 wow you have it all going on!
I have worked hard to lower my expectations of myself and to not be self critical when things aren't getting done (still a WIP!). Key things here are "I'd like to do this" or "it'd be nice for this to happen" rather than "I need to do that". If the pressures are external - so in your example you will probably have a deadline for clearing the house - then I accept that things are going to be rough for a while but try to plan in some respite too. I will simplify or drop other commitments to focus on the primary thing, and try to make it easier to do those commitments I'm keeping. For example, I now keep a pair of trainers on the treadmill because we concluded walking in my UGG boots probably wasn't ideal.
I also go back to basics; drinking water is often a good one. It's not difficult to take a 1L water bottle around with me; I can drink 2-4 a day, but being 1L they don't need filling up that often. I have two 1L bottles, so I could have the second in the fridge ready to go, and a 500ml bottle, which I can take if I don't want the weight of the big one and that fits in my handbag.4 -
Yesterday was quite relaxed; OH was on a day shift, so I read for a while in bed, did some admin tasks, and then went to the allotment in the afternoon. I've got the main bed dug over for the garlic, which will also have onions and leeks, and started on the second, which will include tomatoes and basil. We've got quite a lot of garlic to plant out! In the evening, we went to TGI Fridays on my whim, really enjoyed both the 'date' and the food.
Back at work today, and have some chores plus little jobs I'd like to get done. OH is out for a meal after his shift, so I have some curry from the freezer and I'm looking forward to more me-time. He's working late shifts the next two days, so that's three evenings on the bounce. I've got my eye on the 'office' to do list; will see what I can get crossed off.4 -

I completed week 1/14 on my NRC with my long run being a 5k. I know it felt harder than it should've because I haven't ran in nearly 6 months, but it's a little disheartening that it was that tough. I should still be happy that I ran the whole thing, especially considering that my joints/muscles/energy are really variable from day to day. It's just hard to see people I know go from 0-to-marathon in a very short period of time and I'm struggling to do a couple of miles at the pace of dial-up internet.
I think too much ruminating is bad for me overall so this is going to be a reset week maybe with a focus on yoga and getting back into my daily reiki (plus the 3 runs). We'll see if I can get back to normal.
@DD265 Really? That goes to show that we all have a different approach Personally, when I start thinking too much about options, my cravings/emotions are prone to take over. However, if I have something ready to go and packed or at least planned, it's a LOT easier for me to say 'no' to whatever my brain is fixated on and go with the option that will help my body the most.

@DD265 @micki48
Great advice on reframing things to "I'd like to do that". That helps me too... if I get too "I must, I have to.." I start feeling like a scolded child and the inner rebel wants to push back!
However, I do have some lofty goals and they require discipline. So the other thing I've been doing lately when I'm feeling so time crunched is prioritizing them. I think about all the things I want to do that day to be successful, and then I rank them. For example, I'll usually put my walk with my dog first (which helps with steps!) because I don't want her to miss that. Then, it may be exercise, or lunch prep, or something like that. That way, if I time out, I at least put my efforts in the things that were most important that day. It does require understanding within yourself that you won't get to it all, but in the spirit of "no zero days", it allows you to start chipping away at some. Often I find I get more done than I thought I would just by being kind to myself!6 -
@MoonlitMuse you did well to run a full 5K after 6 months off. I get the frustration, but that's a great achievement.MoonlitMuse wrote: »@DD265 Really? I was a little surprised too! I think it may be because we're trying to avoid restriction per se as I have a history of binge eating disorder. I've decided to go part-way with it though and come up with short lists of 3-6 snack and lunch options that live inside the cupboard door. There's one taped there already but it isn't tailored to my likes/dislikes.
@ashleycarole86 prioritising can be so hard because we feel like we should be doing All. The. Things. Each morning I look over my to do list (I have scheduled and recurring tasks), decide what can be skipped, delegated or delayed, and then I look over the non-time critical lists to see if there's anything I feel like trying to include in my day.
Today's list is going so-so; I've not been able to change the bed as every time I've tried, the cat has been sleeping on it! He's still there (oh to be a cat) so I am going to get on the treadmill for 30 mins before dinner and get that out of the way. I decided not to try creating a get-up-at-6am routine the week before we go on holiday, which means I'm still mostly doing evening exercise.6 -
I just received a notification that my Tabata class on Wednesday is cancelled as the school gym won't be available this week, and this is also the week that I have no hockey game. I'm going to have to make up my own exercise this week and make sure I don't just sit on the couch every evening. there's not even much snow in the forecast to reckon with so I'm going to have to get creative with my own motivation. This is always a tough one for me, I am Inertia! I will stay at rest any chance I get. Everyone who has that motivation to get off the couch and move intentionally is my hero. Maybe I will have to check out that Pilates trial you mentioned @jugar. It's been awhile.
I did manage to sign up for Pickleball starting in April!! very excited to try that out.4 -

@MoonlitMuse I have a german shepard and we have so much snow here in Alberta - she loves the cold so I have no excuse not to go out walking.
@micki48 Wow what a week. I can't imagine house shopping and the pressure. Hope the second interview goes well for you son.
I've been stressing and overthinking this week which has led me to snack at night and not make good choices the last 4 days. I gave myself a good talk and got up early to workout which always changes my mood and sets me off in a good direction.
I'm so glad it's March but not finding the weather is changing the way I want it. It's still cold here. At least the days are getting longer and there's more sunlight8 -
@cleaneater80 Yes the amount of snow we have here in Alberta and the severity of the cold that's been sticking around has got me feeling the same!!
I'm happy the 10 day forecast is looking warmer than it was but there's still a long way to go until it starts to feel spring like around here eh?4 -

@PlaneMonkey "I am inertia" - oh yes! So line up a few videos to work out with. Even if you don't like them, your Tabata class will be back on next week New tag line needed, though. "I am initiative!" (at least once a day?) You go girl!4

Albertans! You have until April 13th to ameliorate that weather problem. I'm coming to visit and hope to ride my horse every day April 14-24, so get on it!5 -

@jugar Yes, you are so right about our favorite Pilates program. I rejoined for a year. Yesterday I did my first workout in a very long time. I have been doing some of the exercises I learned on my own hoping that my hip would feel better and it has helped (so do NSAIDS). I really enjoyed the breathwork routine after the pilates routine. It really did engergize. Glad I did it.
I actually just finished logging my food so far today. Yay for future me. Taking a break from looking for a house constantly feels great. I did see a cute one "coming soon" that popped into my notifications today. Near my daughter, cute bungalow style I love. We'll see.
There are some wild snowflurries here with big gusts of wind. We took the littles out for a bit but are probably done for the day. It is now nap time, but not really. LOL. Half of our class is out sick and I'm afraid I may have picked up the cough when a little guy coughed right on me when I was bent down zipping his coat. Such is life in PreK.
Still meaning to catch up on everyone's news soon. I'm getting closer to a routine. Hope you are all well.

Happy snow to everyone having some today You know how much I love the stuff... We are somewhat to the north of the worst of it, but snow fell all night and is still lightly coming down. More due tonight. Of course, I am sharing my snow joy in hopes it is infectious for those of you who find it a drag - I'll be out there a lot for the next little while.
@micki48 I'm so glad to hear you are taking some good breaths, some time for yourself, and some measure of quiet. Hit some Simeon Walker on YouTube or just any music source you have, although the videos are beautiful. It is simple music, but I find it a great way to have some moments of calm. https://www.youtube.com/@SimeonWalkerMusic/videos6 -
Day started off well but longer tenure staff member gave his notice today as he got another opportunity. I have been wanting to self-soothe with all the wrong things. I have been feeling on the verge of a series of bad decisions but so far so good.8
