I’m so tired. Almost there. Just get through this week. Food has been tough. We are in the grabbing whatever food we can stage of packing moving. I’ve had a chicken panini, Greek salad, and Burger King. I had a medium fry but found I could not eat them all. That’s a win. My appetite is definitely smaller.
Need to work on more water. That might wake me up.
Your step numbers are FABULOUS!!!!!4 -

He lives being the center of attention and everyone feeling sorry for him. Ge really has it up too. Today he got his 34 staples removed finally. Then there's my upcoming cataract surgery. My eye surgery had to be postponed for his and my eyes are bothering me like crazy. Of course it is kitten season so I've been helping some of the moms and bottle feeding some of the newborns. My garden is a lost cause this year. Oh well. Anyway, so very sorry for not being a better member.
Oh my goodness! You are amazing to get through all that. You will be so thrilled when you get your eye surgery. It is so much fun to see better after one of those. Maybe, just maybe, you'll get a couple of days off to recover You deserve it.3 -

@Natroushka thoughts are with you in this busy season and we are routing for you.
@IDebraK you are doing so well. I've don't track food either but thinking it's something I should slowly start doing. My excersize is great but diet and some habits need to be focused on.
Can't believe it's the end of April already love the longer days of sunshine5 -
@jugar @cleaneater80 Thank you for the kind words!2

Happy...Tuesday everyone! Sorry I'm a day late on my weigh-in, I try to do it empty stomached but forgot and totally ate breakfast/coffee on my way in to work.

Last week wasn't great in terms of physical activity. I did try to do something most days, but that pulled muscle started radiating and giving me issues. THAT is feeling better now, but I've been feeling more joint pain for the past few days, particularly in an unusual spot in my right knee. Gods....what I would give to actually feel my age This week I'm going to focus on biking, yoga, and seeing if I can hit another 10k on Sunday. I don't know what's wrong but I just can't seem to find the motivation to hit the weights hard like I used to. I'm not sure if taking a break is going to eventually help or make it worse.
Monday: 6912 steps + 30mins strength + 30 mins yoga
Tuesday: 5265 steps
Wednesday: 5669 steps + 46mins strength
Thursday: 5719 steps + 31mins strength + 52 mins yoga
Friday: 5874 steps
Saturday: 8388 steps
Sunday: 4325 steps
On the personal front....I don't keep you guys abreast of everything but I feel the need for a bit of a sounding board. Here's the clif notes version of things- My dad (65) had his first hip replacement about 15 years ago and they told him that he'd need the other side done eventually just because of how his bones are shaped. Well, for the past almost-year, he's been trying to get that scheduled, only to have it cancelled TWICE because people didn't feel comfortable doing it. He's been cleared by the cardiologist AGAIN and re-reschuled for 8/30 (Originally supposed to by 2/23). He's bone on bone and in so much pain. It's a truly frustrating process
- We're in the process of selling our other house. When we moved out to MT in 2020, we weren't sure what we were going to do with our house in OH so we just kept it. Well, we finally decided it's time to part with it. The offers came in instantly and over-list, so we're happy. Closing is supposed to be May 10th, fingers crossed that it all going according to plan
- My son is finishing his junior year and now we have to start thinking about things like ACT/SAT, scholarship applications, etc. My coworker said that there are a ton of resources/opportunities/guidance for kids BUT I think it's for public school only. He's been going to the University of Missouri K-12 academy since freshman year, so I'm worried that we'll be on our own in navigating everything
- I was recently invited to be a speaker at the Nutrition/Diabetes conference in Billings this June, so I have to prepare a presentation on Fad Diets and Glycemic Control.
- The Front range yoga fest is going to be happening right after that conference, so I may be teaching at that again (fingers crossed). If not teaching, it's a total weekend of self care and sooooo many yoga classes. It was very healing last year
- Not relevant but I'm excited about it - I just got 2 out of the 3 new tarot decks I've ordered! My reading has become a lot deeper since I've been picking up my decks every day
@CupcakeCrusoe OMG, I LOVE That you're implementing the 30 challenge! Isn't it amazing how much more we vary our diets when we're not just relying on the same foods over and over?7 -
Good afternoon WaistAways!
I'm back in the 173s, but I've been dipping into the post-easter chocolates a little too much at night, haha. Tonight, gym and back to basics!
@ashleycarole86 pelefondo sounds like a great motivating tool- like training for a race when you're running. How is using one peleton and one not-peleton bike working out for y'all?
@jugar safe travels!
@IDebraK I think your method is a great way to transition into maintenance.
@micki48 food around a move is always tough- but leaving fries alone is a huge win, for me at least!
@Natroushka oh man, bottle-feeding kitten season is all-consuming, don't fret. You've got so much going on!
@MoonlitMuse wow, that's so much great (and some a little scary!) stuff you have going on! And yeah, not only the variety for the 30/week, but also it's helping me keep calories in check, for the most part, which is a great added bonus. And thinking about it makes me prep a little more strictly, which is great for adherence. I'm happy I'm doing it so far.
Have a great day, everyone!5 -
Hi WA's you have a new member joining your amazing team for May .. Please welcome @honeygldchelly6

@honeygldchelly Welcome to the group. This is a bunch of absolutely amazing and wonderful people!4

Hi everyone! I’m so happy to start the May challenge. Thank you for letting me join the group~
My name’s Chelly, I just turned 27, and I work at a dental lab (ik, sounds super fun lol). I have struggled with my weight for God knows how long, but I also didn’t like working out although i was in dance & cheerleading & color guard, and I definitely loved eating until i was beyond stuffed but once I became an adult, things kinda flipped and often i would get too busy to remember to eat (sounds wild, ik), and somehow gained a lot more weight (i’m guessing bc my body wanted to store what little i was eating).
After my first dr’s visit in a while, i was told a few things that i knew but was very unhappy with so I decided to treat my body better. I had a lot of free time as I decided to go back to college to finish my last year and wasn’t able to work sooooo I was doing well at the beginning of last year — lost about 15lbs in 4mo. But then, I got sick and gained that back plus way more. I’m currently at my heaviest (242.6lbs) and I’ll be honest, this is terrifying for me. I’ve been trying to get back into consistently working out/exercising but I would like to push myself harder.
Overall, my goal is just to get into “normal” bmi, and to stay consistent throughout the month.6 -
@CupcakeCrusoe
So we actually got a second Peloton, but just the basic model.
It turned into a bit of a saga, because our hack (where we weren't going to log the second Peloton in and we were just going to ride it on the app didn't work).
We were super frustrated and initiated a return but in the end we weighed our other options and decided to keep it and get a second membership.
It's motivating - I have rode more since it came than I have in a while. I will feel compelled to stay on top of the group rides (Brad and I at once) just to make it pay.
Welcome @honeygldchelly ... looking forward to getting to know you and your journey. Thanks for the intro.. you have come to the right place for support.
@MoonlitMuse That's a lot of different life stuff going on all at once. Brad got his first hip replacement at age 47 and I know he'll need it again in the future... I watched him suffer before the first one with that bone on bone pain so my heart really goes out to what your dad is going through.. hopefully the surgery goes ahead in August because another delay won't be good.
Tomorrow morning Brad and I are up bright and early to catch a flight together to Manitoba.. he is going for work and I took the opportunity to visit my Dad. Brad will be able to join us for some of the time as well.6 -
Good morning WaistAways (well it's morning here in the UK!)
Welcome @honeygldchelly , I am new here too, (well I was on here a couple of years ago but just returned!) - it was a great place for support back then and I can see it's still very active so I am sure you'll find some wonderful company here.
I'm working on consistency with my new plan, I've been going for about 2 weeks now but I'm already struggling and had a bit of a binge the other day (we had too many crackers in the house and I just had two and then kept going, ended up having about 10 with dip!)
Apart from that I was doing really well and am trying not to let it set me back. I did log it all as well which was hard to do.
Today is my day off so I'm planning on doing some exercise, maybe some strength training and a walk down by the beach. I'm also focussing on making myself decent and filling breakfast rather than grabbing a quick bowl of cereal - anyone have any good breakfast suggestions, ideally high protein?
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy day!
Jess x5 -
Good morning WaistAways!
172.6 today, coming down from the mysterious water spike earlier this week.
The gym was good last night, although it's hard on school nights to come home so late. Oh well.
@honeygldchelly welcome! sounds like you're ready to do this.
@ashleycarole86 I've definitely heard a lot of people say that peleton (and the classes, especially) are very motivating for them.
@spyro88 my go-to high protein breakfast right now is overnight oats made with nonfat greek yogurt- the yogurt has a lot of protein, and the oats base allows me to top it with different things on different days for some variety. My overnight oats base is .3 c rolled oats, .5 c greek yogurt, and .25 c almond milk for each day.
Have a great day, everyone!7 -

Akkk! I got home this morning finally, and then opening my computer after dinner, I saw that the message I thought I had posted this morning did not post! I hate it when the button does not work the first time and you don't notice...
In any case - Welcome to you @honeygldchelly and @CheCheLMT ! I look forward to getting to know you through the month of May, and hopefully beyond. Some of us have been here for ages! I hope you will find the team helpful and inspiring. Be sure to ask any questions you have any time.

Enjoy your trip to Manitoba @ashleycarole86 and @bowens1973 - I was sorry not to be able to get somewhere to meet you during my trip to Alberta, but we were crazy busy. We managed to cram in 2 birthday parties, 2 breathing workshops for soldiers (we had a blast!), I rode my horse every day, bought a beautiful used saddle, and the usual non-stop gabbing.
I'm going to hit that Post Reply button like I mean it this time6 -
@jugar I am away from a scale right now and will weigh in Friday. I will be back to my normal Wednesdays next week.4

I can't seem to stay on track at all, the last couple of weeks. Between work stress, home stress, PMS, and now a (very mild) concussion... the only thing that has stuck from my dietician sessions is muesli for breakfast.
Not sure whether to try and force it, or let my body/mind get through this phase however they need to. Problem is, with every 'phase', I seem to come out at a higher weight which means I have more to lose when I am able to make the healthier choices.6 -
I've been feeling very blah lately, I think I am battleing a bit of depression, but I don't know. Just in a funk...
Anyway, Last weeks and this weeks weigh in weren't good, at all...
With my mental funk, comes me trying to make myself feel better with food...
So yesterdays weight was
180.4
Yup an almost 4lb gain in 2 weeks...

I had a big overnight whoosh, I was 148.4 yesterday, so this is a bit of a shock! I think this is thanks to feeling a bit dehydrated today as much as anything, but also I have been consistent with starting the day with a brisk 1 hour walk, which I really think helps get my metabolism fired up. I'm doing much better at logging my food and staying in a deficit, although admittedly I was over yesterday. I'm expecting this weight to go back up a bit, so I won't be surprised if I get a gain next week, but I'll do my best to minimise it.6 -

I'm glad to find this morning that I did not put on weight while out in Alberta, but I still am slightly over the top of my maintenance range, dangit. So I'm working on those motivators too. It doesn't end, but it is worth it. Grab the rope! We're all pulling together!
5 -
@jugar So inspirational when someone can go away and not put on weight. Way to go! I'm glad you had a fun and jam packed time in Alberta. To be honest, we were so busy too that I'm not sure it would have worked out regardless. Hopefully next time though... miss your face!!
Brad is at work in Minnedosa and I'm hanging out with my dad. Snuck down to the hotel gym and used the treadmill to do a 30 minute Peloton run. I really like doing those classes when I have access to a treadmill. After a fairly sedentary day yesterday, this felt good. It's not even noon and I've already got more steps today than I did yesterday.
@39flavours way to go girl.. love to see you hitting your stride
@DD265 that's a tough dilemma for sure. I forget the concussion story (if there was one?) but I hope you're okay.. those are no joke.5 -
Hi friends!! Quick check in. Been super busy with packing. Saturday and Sunday are the move days. The weather is not looking great but oh well. Onward we go anyway. Hope everyone is doing well. I'll check back in when I can. My weight is up a tiny bit and was down too, so we shall see tomorrow.4
