weighed in yesterday and it was 175.3...just shows the variation a day makes and to just take the weekly weigh ins as a general guidance, not to derail. But I did log everything yesterday and so I'll just take it as inspiration!7 -
Did not do well yesterday, but not horrible either...
Today is a new day.
Oh I found out my Health insurance gives us a Noom subscription for free...

I couldn't keep hold of my happy mindset, but I still tried really hard to have a healthier day yesterday including a run before work. About 8.30pm I gave in to my craving for chocolate, though I probably had what the dietician would consider 2 portions (as that is what was left) so not terrible. Had hoped my weight would be down, but 2 good days don't outweigh the other 5, and the increased exercise can also increase water retention of course.
Today I'm just trying get through - very tired. Have my dietician appointment this afternoon.7 -
Evening all!
Had something weird happen today at work. All of a sudden my thumb froze in a locked position tucked into my hand. It felt like I had no control over it.. like it was paralyzed for a minute. Finally it freed itself... but then it has felt weak ever since. I have had some tingling and numbness in the hand and arm.
Brad thought maybe carpal tunnel type stuff? I have no clue.. it was weird. Needless to say, I'll be watching it.
Taking it easy tonight.. tired.9 -

That sounds scary - hand massage and rest is in order! Then if you want a good hand/wrist stretch and strengthen series that has saved me from carpal tunnel and other RSI as a flutist, let me know! But not yet if there is inflammation.4 -

I've been diving down a rabbithole thinking I have undiagnosed adult ADHD. Lists of symptoms and the experiences of friends recently diagnosed is making me question lots of stuff about myself. It's good in a way to increase my understanding but I'm also mentally using it as a crutch that I can't move past until I get to see my doctor to get answers and possible medications which won't be until June.
I'm feeling burnout, which is strange in a way since I've only been back at work 4 days so far, but the stress of everything in my home life is just piling up and I'm on overload.
I'm even sick of playing hockey!
Something has gotta change. I'm nearing day 1000 in my streak on MFP and with this team, and I have made zero concrete progress towards my end goal since around day 230. Yes, I did choose to 'maintain' for several months but I thought I was ready to commit to making those final changes to get to the end zone and it's just been one excuse after the other.
I get it, Life has events, they will continue to pop up and intervene with all of our best laid plans.
Those solid habits of not filling a second plate at the buffet - even if it's overpriced and I want to 'get my moneys worth' is important. Drinking enough water even though I might have to do the peepee dance during part of my commute home from the office is important. Planning the food shopping when I'm not hungry so I make responsible choices instead of buying everything in sight that triggers a craving is VERY important.
I am capable of all of these things occasionally. I need to find a way to do them consistently.
I have to remind myself of the team mantras that come back around every so often...
Progress over perfection.
No zero days
Turn the volume up on the voices in my head saying I don't need to open that cupboard, there's nothing in there for me.
I will find a way to quiet my mind, and it will begin with stopping the sabotaging revenge bedtime procrastination that I'm currently doing, and going to sleep!
Thank you team for being the wonderful people you are.
See you in the morning. 🤗

It's a step in the right direction
I'm having some up and down days, yesterday I tried very hard to not go over my calorie allowance and am glad it paid off even if it's a fairly small loss this week.
My job is unstable at the moment and I might be made redundant at the end of June. Adding that to fertility treatments and being in and out of clinic appointments constantly, I sometimes feel like a little ball of stress at the moment!
I have a busy day at work today and a job interview but after that I am going to relax and enjoy the long bank holiday coronation weekend!
Hope everyone has a great day/ weekend8 -

Hi everyone, I haven’t been on the group in months. Sorry for the late check in.
My name is Grace, I am a pharmacist, 31, I live with my younger sister and we both struggle to keep our weight down. During the pandemic, I gained 20-30kg. I am trying to loose it now. I am going to be starting 1200 kcals today and see how I get on.
I do well while I am with the group, it’s the only thing that helps me consistently loose weight. I am very happy to be back. I would prefer Sunday weigh-ins. Thank you for having me8 -

I’m not sure if my scale is dying, or my floors are wildly uneven, but I weighed myself in one spot, and it said I gained 7 lbs, and then in another spot, that I lost 10 lbs. I am going to try this spot where I weighed myself this morning next week and see what’s going on. This weight felt the most realistic given how much I’ve exercised this week and how I’ve tracked my food.
All in all, an OK week food wise. It’ll be TOM for me next week, and I know now that I tend to get that “bottomless pit” feeling the week prior, which was Wednesday and yesterday for me. It’s very common I guess for your appetite to increase during that week, and I need to look for some tricks. Maybe I’ll try this dill pickle trick! 😉
Tonight I am going out for tacos with friends so I’m very excited about that, this weekend we’ll continue to do some overhauling of our backyard, and then Sunday my niece has a school concert and we have a friend running a 10k near us so we’re going to grab brunch with them after they finish their race.
I’m traveling for work on Monday and Tuesday and I’m packing my gym clothes to ensure I get my workouts in. Based on when my train leaves on Monday, I don’t think I’ll be able to get the workout done in the morning, but it’ll feel good after all that travel to get it done later in the day. All I need is a good set of dumbbells and I’ll be ready to go!5 -

@wishfuljune my scale reacts that way when it's time to change the battery! I also have an exact set place in my bedroom that I put the scale as my floors are also uneven and wobbly leading to inconsistent results if I'm not meticulous to put it back on the same floorboard. So silly!
@graceojo999 Welcome back! The consistency of checking in with the group, even though I don't post often is what's helped me through my journey to maintain the weightloss for longer than I ever have without rebounding. If I didn't have the voices of the team in my head as I made food choices then I would definitely have made poorer decisions.
@spyro88 job uncertainty is horrible for stress. hugs to you.
@ashleycarole86 I hope your hand gets back to normal soon!! that's scary. Opposable thumbs is what separates us from the animals, lol. Gotta keep those going!7 -
@PlaneMonkey ! We you and hear you. It's dark down in that hole I know you're going to hit that first day with aplomb, no bedtime revenge procrastination, no cupboard raiding, and hopefully plenty of calming deep breaths and some sunshine. You're here! Grabbing the rope and climbing out.
A few years ago, I played a concert from a very angry, frustrated, and dark place. I chose every piece in the program to reflect on those feelings, and some that helped me find the path out. I read a lot, and one quote (from where I do not recall!) really stuck with me - "anger gives us power, disquiet keeps us moving". Working on and performing those pieces helped me to find the power without the destructive stress, just the joy in strength and the catharsis of playing some seriously powerful expressions of it. They helped me channel the disquiet into movement out of the dark places. Sorting out the power and motion from the bad parts was helpful. Your long post reminds me of that, and I'm in need of getting unstuck right now too. I have been wandering slowly off track for the past few months, but feeling more hopeful right now. You are such a powerful person! The feelings are powerful too - so never hesitate to come in here to throw down the tangles and see how they might be useful. Hang in there!
@graceojo999 welcome back! I know you come and go, and I hope you stay a while and start to feel better again. 1200 kcal might be a bit on the low side! Where you are starting, you could eat more than that and still lose. It might be less rapid, but then it is much easier to stick with it and to avoid rebounds.
@spyro88 good luck with the interview!
All right - I have to get down to things. Too much sitting lately! But I lost the couple of pounds I put on while travelling, I'm over the tiredness, am not drinking any alcohol this month, and feel some good energy starting. Have a great day!7 -
TGIF - I hope everyone has a good weekend planned.
Seems there's a few of us struggling at the moment and I hope things start improving across the board.
I had what turned out to be my last dietician appointment yesterday. I wasn't planning on it being the last, but we agreed that I have the skills now and it's mental health support that I need. I really don't have the bandwidth to go off and do CBT, meditate etc, so I'm thinking of talking to the doctor about medication to create some space. We ended on a positive note, realising that what felt like binges to me really haven't been that bad (the ones I've tracked anyway) and that overall, my nutrition has really improved.
I've surprised myself by feeling like batch cooking this weekend (helps that the weather forecast is rubbish!), so I'm looking at adding a couple of extra dishes to the meal plan for that. We'll have a Hello Fresh (meal prep service) delivery for 6 meals next week, to get us back in the cook-from-scratch mindset too. Baby steps.

@DD265
Brad and I are back on HelloFresh as well. Takes the guess work out of meal planning and I love that it's delicious and that they have so many different options.
One of the things I hate most is the lack of planning and then the impulse dinner choice. I tend to feel so negative about that and then I make poor choices. So as much as we can have good pre-planned meals, the better.6 -

@DD265 What are your feelings on being discharged from your RD? How many appointments did you have with her? I'm kind of sitting here scratching my head because you're motivated and absorbing what she's teaching. I really only discharge people if they consistently miss appointments. I definitely don't get rid of the ones who actually WANT to work on things
@ashleycarole86 If you want something that takes the guesswork out of what to eat, is cheaper, but may require some more effort on your part (trade off for the money savings), try the Mealime app! It was created by dietitians, is SUPER customizable, and is the only thing I use! Despite being a dietitian, I loathe meal planning, but this legit takes a few taps and my week is planning, shopping list made, etc.! It's a total lifesaver8
