@MoonlitMuse
I downloaded the Mealime app to take a peek - thanks!
@bowens1973 does all of the cooking in the house so I'll have to see what he thinks.
Cheap me doesn't want to pay for the nutritional info and lazy me doesn't want to build recipes to find out. I'd say this is actually why we usually keep meals super simple or do pre-built kits that are predetermined calorie counts. Any tips to getting over that?3 -

I agree @carlsoda eating more than needed *does indeed* catch up with us! Sigh.
All I can do is move some more, keep my water up, guilt-trip less, and stop whingeing about what I did or didn't do.
@ashleycarole86 your thumb issue sounds like "trigger finger/thumb" which is when the tendon is inflamed. some causes: overuse, arthritis, or diabetes. Have an Orthopod check it out. Trigger fingers can be surgically released or injected with an anti-inflammatory & pain-relieving cocktail. In the interim, I highly recommend wearing a thumb splint (only at night or you'll push against it all day and make things worse). This will help the tendon relax a bit.
As far as the how to shift your thoughts about Mealime (or anything else for that matter), it sounds like you got caught in the "condemnation prior to investigation" loop. See if you can take a step to the side and try something different for 3 months. One can do *anything* for 90-days. If it doesn't live up to your hopes (or the company's promise), go back to the thing you're doing now. What's the worst that can happen? Nothing.
@PlaneMonkey A suggestion that came to mind when I read about your self-sabotage and inner critic (saying judgmental words like, "crutch") is try the "CTFD" method. It stands for "Calm the F-Down" and will reassure you that whichever path you choose, you'll be fine. This *isn't* a FOOT RACE. It's your life. I'm glad you're living it with such honesty with all of us on this team! Please, keep coming back. If you're feeling burned out, put on your Sorting Hat and ask what change you need in this chapter of your life. Focus on a solution. That always feels better than pointing fingers at that little self in the mirror, filled with self-recriminations and shame. ("Take my advice...I'm not using it!")
@jugar I used to like scapes and trout leaves...until garlic in general upset my stomach too much. It's lovely to walk around the woods and scavenge yummy edibles. Thank goodness the sun is out in force today! I'm going outside now to repot some pansies, sweep the porch, and generally tidy up some of this living space. If only I could find my magic wand for the *indoor* areas at the same time! It didn't help that OH was out sick for the past 2 days. Not covid, fortunately, but still an annoying cough. My sleep will improve once they're back at work (6 p.m.-2:30 a.m.). Off I go!
Have a great day everyone. Let's set up a zoom soon!

Hi friends! It has been awhile. I needed to take a break to focus on my stress level. I have been doing daily meditations and trying to walk more. I want to get back into Barre this week because I felt my best when I was doing that a few days a week. I think the scale is down a little since the end of March, but I have only checked did twice and have not been recording my weight.
@jugar can I stay on support, but still post my weekly weigh instead? With 3 weeks left to summer, my summer goal is maintained, since I gain ever summer.
@ashleycarole86 Can I rejoin the step team and post this past weeks steps tomorrow, Sunday, like I used to? I have actually been getting a lot of steps, but when summer comes, I usually see decrease.6 -
MoonlitMuse wrote: »@DD265 What are your feelings on being discharged from your RD? How many appointments did you have with her? I'm kind of sitting here scratching my head because you're motivated and absorbing what she's teaching. I really only discharge people if they consistently miss appointments. I definitely don't get rid of the ones who actually WANT to work on things
It was a bit of a surprise but the more we discussed it, the more sense it made. We had 6 appointments (on a monthly basis) and I basically haven't lost any weight in that 6 months, not that weight loss is the only goal. If I'd asked to stay on she would've kept going, but I agree with her that I need support in other areas, namely mental health so that it's easier to follow our healthy nutrition protocol most of the time. I was paying £80 a session, so the cost does stack up and I think that was part of her motivation; to not be charging people unnecessarily.6 -

Great to hear from you Kelly! You can absolutely stay on support and weigh in. Getting back to the exercise you like is a good idea too - if Barre felt great when you were doing it, then go for it!5 -
It has been a very weird day. I enjoyed the sunshine, planting my salad garden, pruning blueberries, and listening to birds. But my brother died this afternoon.
@EvMakesChanges (my sister) and I are a bit in shock. His health was not tip-top, but this was very sudden and unexpected. Of course, it will be hardest on our mom, who is 92. Our dad has severe dementia and will not understand, so we will leave him in peace and not tell him. It feels weird, but we are a close family and we'll help each other. My daughter has already been a great help talking through all the feelings. I wish my mom lived closer - she'll need a lot of shoulders to lean on.
I still want to stick with my exercise and steps, though. They help through all the feelings. @ashleycarole86 maybe we are partners for the challenge this week?

@jugar @EvMakesChanges
So sorry to hear of the unexpected passing of your brother. I know with your dad there is a lot going on already. Thinking of you two and glad you have good family support
And yea, let's partner up and make some magic with our feet @jugar
Absolutely @KellyBgetsfit .. glad to have your steps back on the team
Also @EvMakesChanges you're right there was nothing to lose about trying Mealime.. I am a classic overthinker but I showed Brad (our house's meal planner) and he was so excited and gladly paid the $3 for full access. So thanks for the nudge to try @MoonlitMuse suggestion4 -
Anyone else want to do this week’s step challenge and be partners??3

@jugar @EvMakesChanges So very sorry about your brother. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.2

Steps
@ashleycarole86 here are my steps
A gain this week, but I'm ok with it as I have made some positive changes. I tracked my food for some of the week, but I need to get better. I did meal prep though so I'm pleased with that. I just need to say no to the additional snacks. I have been trying out intermittent fasting, and I am enjoying it so far. I do need to play around with the timings though to find what works. I am happy with my steps this week, and I did additional exercise (21DF/C25K) 6/7 days. I also met my water goal for the week which was 1l.
This week I want to continue with week 3 of 21DF, increase my water intake to 2l, and log everything I eat.
@jugar @EvMakesChanges I am so sorry to hear about your brother. Thinking of you and your family.
@DianaGetsFit512 Can I be your partner for the step challenge?
Good luck this week everyone!

Starting super fresh here
I don't even remember previous weight.
Current weight: 132.4
I missed last week's weigh in. I apologize for that. Hopefully, I'm getting things in a better place. I know I've been super sporadic with posting, but I feel like I'm in a better place now, or at least on a better track.
My kitchen has been torn apart for months. The microwave died a while back. Then, we heard noises in the attic. We were sure it was squirrels, so we called a wildlife exterminator. They trap and release. Turns out, it was roof rats. They don't do rats. You have to have an exterminating (like bugs) people for that. $1300 to Terminix to get rid of them turned into a 6 month fight. Not only would they not come out and do the regular service as contracted, it was a fight to get my money back.
I finally got my money back. Rat problem is "fixed." (Not by Terminix). New appliances delivered yesterday. Kitchen is put back together.
We've been eating out forever, or it feels like it anyway. Not the best choices. I am limited anyway with a gluten free diet.
The new stove is also an air fryer, so I'm thrilled about that! I can have a cook day again now that I have a microwave to reheat.
So, again, my apologies for being a spaz, but this has been been a battle in more ways than one.
Oh! And work has been crazy. One person on LOA and another quit. I'm a floater, so I cover when people are out. I've been in two stores for about a month now.
I'll post steps next week. I wore a dead Fitbit all day yesterday. Full charge now....

Hey gang - back again!
So this weekend is Coronation weekend, and communities up and down the country are putting on parties and events to celebrate King Charles III's coronation; including my little town of Bewdley. The whole town is putting on a range of family events in celebration this weekend.
My choir was invited to perform. One of my friends came to support me and she took this snap of us.
We had a lot of fun - all the more so because the sun came out.
Back later with more stuff.

Great job on Week 1, everyone! We did well with good steady steps. Keep those going!
I did a good job on my first day back to step tracking. I took a good long walk and it was windy enough to keep the black flies from being pests. When I got back to the house, there was a pileated woodpecker hanging around - I always love it when those great but shy birds allow themselves to be seen and not just heard. They are pretty spectacular.
I also did a good kettlebell workout today. I'm keeping in mind that exercise in times of hard emotional times is the best remedy. I have seen it called "mental floss" recently, and that is a good catchy term that will get me going when needed. It isn't just about physical health, and that is good to remember.
Keep well!4 -

The last 24 hours have been the strangest in my life. I suppose losing a sibling does that to everyone. I’m sure I can speak for the two of us remaining (@jugar) that your kind thoughts and prayers are much appreciated. Although he and I weren’t as close as our amazing sister (@jugar), it’s still unsettling to be left so suddenly.
I ate small amounts of comfort food today but managed to have reasonable quantities. I baked sweet potatoes but will probably save one for tomorrow, since they don’t go particularly well with homemade spinach-pita-pizzas!
We’ve had a nice time outside feeding a small bonfire while we ate. My OH and younger daughter were here to keep me company, which was lovely. Oh, for desert I made a quick version of banana cream pie complete with a layer of powdered peanuts, cocoa powder, and fresh banana slices. I know - gagging coming from the house of my sister! She’s always hated bananas! Tbh, I’ve never made one before. I wonder if it was a tribute to our brother? Perhaps.
Time to go in. It’s about to rain according to my Apple Watch.
Be well.
