Good morning fellow Shapeshifters. Yesterday turned out to have more activity than expected. After my HITT workout, dh mentioning bicycling out across the bridge to look for shoes. I was hesitant at first since I hadn't take the bike out on a longer ride before and wasn't sure if I was up to it, but we ending up going after all. Let's just say I was very tired when we got back.
Total bike ride: 14 miles.
Total shoes: 2 pairs, plus a pair of sandals for me. I managed to stick everything in my paniere.4 -

The wind has picked up over night so it's not as smokey here as it was on Tuesday. Alberta still has a Provincial state of emergency, There are currently 92 active wildfires, 27 of the wildfires are classified as out of control, 15 are being held, and the rest are under control as of this morning!6 -

Craig and I went for a walk yesterday afternoon. The trail we hit yesterday is part of Dr. Pillow park which is a long skinny green belt along a small creek. My son surprised us by wanting to go along. (His ankle is continue to improve daily, but he still has a bit of a limp.) Turns out, he wanted to scope out fishing spots.
We walked a whole lot farther that I had planned, but sometimes I forget that I'm not as heavy and its easier to walk. This little guy is the only wildlife we saw yesterday.
I picked my first tomato yesterday, our container garden is doing well this year and I may wind up with more tomatoes and peppers than we can eat.
@jessicakrall - hope you get to feeling better

Today started out well as I tackled the front yard with a close shave and weed eating - it looks really nice! The plan was to get all chores out of the way before noon so I would have time to art with my daughter.
The guy next door shortly after lunch built a bonfire of garbage and old lumber high into the air, next to the woods, doused it with gasoline and set it on fire and then he says, "I left to use the restroom" -- I'm next to seven miles of forest and we're getting into the dry season. The forest is on beach sand basically so it dries out quickly + Scotch broom burns like accelerant. Holy moly, the whole thing goes out of control. Flames are 20-30ft in the air, embers are floating into my yard all the way over to the shop. It's spreading out in four directions really quickly.
My daughter walked over and said, "I just kept seeing more and more firetrucks and emergency personnel" ... So this fellow set this fire, left the gas can beside it and did not have a faucet or water hook up. Fire department was able to extinguish it but gees, that could have been so bad....
My other neighbors were super nice to me today though and so supportive. The trees in the backyard are 70ft+ tall, and man, I don't want to see that kind of fire up close I tell you. I'm stressed out and I didn't get to paint. Meh!! Stress.

@TexanMom8152 Thank you! Isn't it amazing how much of a difference weight loss makes for something as simple as walking? I also remember when I just started, I would be in serious pain after 30 minutes. I am so glad I am not in that position anymore. Your plants look very healthy!
@Armygirlarmyof1 No worries, I hope you can find some time for yourself as well.
@Itadakimasu7 Wow, that guy should have gotten a big fine at the least! Sounds super scary and what a waste of resources he caused by being a poophead.4 -
Good morning Shape Shifters. Another busy day with my mom. We did a morning walk of around 9 kilometers total. There wasn't a lot to see again sadly, except for a tree pipit and a small copper butterfly. After we rested a while at home, we walked into town because there was a ceramics market with a lot of artists displaying and selling their work. They charged 5 euros a person to even enter! I would have just gone home again, but my mom said it was fine so she paid for us. It was super busy and just a slow moving slog past all the stands. I wasn't a big fan, but at least I got even more steps I guess.
In the evening I set up a squirrel feeder. I still had some wooden posts left over, so I put 2 in the ground and hung up the box. Because of some dumb mistake that it took me 5 minutes to notice, I had a lot of trouble getting the second screw in and I drilled a hole in my thumb, lol. It isn't too bad or painful. I mostly felt really stupid! But the feeder is up and it looks nice, so mission eventually accomplished. I was really tired and a bit sore by the end of today. Thankfully this morning it is much better. Happy stepping everyone4 -

This week was a super busy one with tons of appts and driving around. My biggest accomplishment was tracking my food every day, plus not having a sweet breakfast at all. Didn't go to the gym or run at all but that will change today.
@shapeshifters wow so many comments to catch up on, it's been great to read and hear how you're all doing. sending rainy thoughts to wildfires in my neighbouring province. hope you can still enjoy your long weekend. congrats to everyone who made progress on their goals this week.4 -
@Cyncia85 Good morning,
we had a grass fire yesterday that is about 45mins away from where I live, but they got it under control.
The closest wild fire in Forested area is 2hours away from where I live. Most of the big ones are up North, over 10 hours away from where I live. I'm not in immediate danger, just the smoke is really bad, and I feel for those who are living in that area.5 -
I have lost some momentum on the weight loss front. I'll do better today!
Just good frequencies today - all the best vibes!
I have planned my first formal training run of the year today. I'm trying out the Galloway (run/walk interval) app. I've been doing Sean Vigue Yoga (YouTube) every morning and meditating, kitten assisted. Our local trail is blooming!

My upward trend continues. I overate last weekend (but did much better with limiting junk food consumption at the Ed Sheeran concert on Saturday than I normally do on concerts). I've also decided to work on a habit to not eat candy. I've been stressed with work lately, and we have a large stockpile of candy and unhealthy snacks at work, as well as some candy at home for the kids. If I let myself grab a few jelly beans or Reese's minis, I tend to keep coming back for the sugar rush.
To focus on an NSV, I no longer avoid logging my meals and snacks, even on bad days. In fact, since I started working with my weightlifting coach in August I've logged every day. He advised to just handle the food and measurements logging like a scientist and to succumb to feelings of guilt. I can then focus on adjusting my foods throughout the day if I had a cheat meal, or focus on doing better the next day. Removing the guilt aspect has really helped me.

@bearchested i'm in the same boat when it comes to candy, i just can't have it around me so I can imagine how hard it is at work. i find a few raisins can sometimes hit the spot.
i'm also logging everything and not stressing about it. this week you'll see a bag of doritos, a tim hortons drink, 2 tim bits and a mcdonalds cheeseburger in my diary. logging it all helps me choose better during the rest of the day, like having an apple before bed rather than another handful of crackers.3 -

My fitbit died last week and I had no idea how many calories I was burning every day, so I pretty much fell off the wagon in terms of logging, and hoped my physically active job would carry me through this week. No loss, but no gain, so I guess it's a wash. Just received the replacement Fitbit yesterday, so I'll try to get back on the horse. I find logging so tedious, it's easy for me to let it slide.
I spent the day planting flowers at work, up to 21,290 steps so far today, so it's a decent start, I suppose.6 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. Another big walking day with my mom. We went to the visitors center/butterfly garden. It is too early for a lot of flowers, but we still saw fun things. My mom has always wanted to walk the path that goes straight through the open fields of the park. I knew it would be too far for me if I started walking from home, so I did the first 2,5 kilometers on my bike, parked it and then walked with my mom. That still left around 5,5 kilometers one way, so I did almost 11 total. Let's just say that the rest of the day I mostly spent as a couch potato. It also got really hot walking through the open area on the way home, so I am totally never doing that again on foot. It is much nicer to bike through. Some pictures under the spoiler. Happy Saturday everyone5
