Hi, I'm, Darlene - 62, married 36 years this year. I have one grown daughter (29) and one pup (Monty the Golden Doodle). My husband and I retired in 2020, but Hubby decided to go back to work in January. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to work on "Me" for a change and decided to get healthy, loss weight, exercise, and give up some bad habits. I started my weight loss journey by completing a The Airline Trail - a linear trail that runs through Connecticut. I did a little at a time, 62 miles in and out; lost 9 pounds. Then continued walking every day, and started my next goal to get 2,023 fitbit miles in 2023. I'm almost 1/2 way there and hit the 900 milestone last week. When I started this journey I was 227 pounds, now down to 194.2 (prior to Memorial Day weekend). Started a couple challenges to keep me motivated and accountable and saw this one so decided to give it a try. Looking forward to getting started.4

@sleepygirl79 Wow four birthdays in two weeks is a lot! Here I thought two and Mother’s Day was bad. I don’t like working out in a lot of heat either.
@megnolia82 Look forward to seeing you more often!
@trooworld I did have fun with my neighbor but I know I at least have a hangover today and she had more than me! Could you start the laundry and be back before it gets that musty smell from waiting to go in the dryer? I know your day is over now but maybe there’s a way to do both. I think we need some sort of challenge soon.
@DJill68 Oh my goodness, prayers for your FIL, I know that’s scary for all of you.
@ddainiak Welcome to Mission Slimpossibles Darlene! Wow what an awesome goal with the miles, you’ve done amazing with pounds too! I’m glad you’re here, this is the only group I’ve stuck with for my entire time and I hope you love it as much as I do.
Hi everyone! I’m waiting to hear if I’m starting seeds tomorrow. Had a mellow day, my neighbor and I had a little much alcohol last night and I came home and ate popcorn even though I’d just had cheesecake. I slept in and worked out then got dressed and spent time in the yard and went to Grocery Outlet, it was the mellow kind of day I needed after the last two. My neighbor had a computer she’s been trying to get rid of so I brought it home, being older I’m hoping it’s less likely to have issues and I’m so grateful and excited to get it going. Have some wonky plants in the garden but still should get a decent harvest this year, maybe it’s from my lack of being consistent in watering and care the last few weeks. I’m going to make skinnytaste’s black bean sweet potato bowls tomorrow, I love that recipe as it’s so easy to swap things around according to what I have and the spices on the potatoes is awesome. Have a great Tuesday!

@trooworld not my bday. Between Mothers Day and Father’s Day, I have my son, hubby’s, mom, dad, SIL bday, plus my anniversary. Bank account is low and cake calories are high.
@ddainiak welcome to our group
Well the kids shared their germs and I have a nasty head cold. Tried Nettie pot and meds, but that didn’t help. Funny enough, I cleared a little when I took the dog for a walk. Maybe all the humidity. If the mosquitoes wouldn’t eat me, I could sleep outside tonight. On a plus, appetite is down and I don’t have to go to work.3 -
I'm in, something I struggle with - drink 48+ oz glasses of clear water daily.1

@ddainiak - Hi Darlene, welcome! I also had a "Walk The Year" goal and have walked the year in miles for 2020, 2021, and 2022. This year I decided not to push so hard, but I could still make if I step it up a bit. But I'll probably just do my 5 miles/day which will leave me a bit short. You have done a great job of losing weight since you started on this quest, way to go!
@trooworld - Count me in on the 4th of July Challenge. My goal is to do Some strength training every day. Anything more than zero, right? Sometimes when I attempt these challenges, I pick too difficult of a goal and I fail right away. If I pick something that I already do every day anyway (like walking, or tracking food), then it's not a challenge. Strength training is always a challenge for me because I just plain don't like it, so I find an excuse. But if I make it a challenge to do something, anything, even one quick set of squats, then I can't make an excuse. SO I'm in. And I'm doing one quick set of squats right now, Day One 🏋️♀️ Done✔️

Congrats to everyone on our leaderboard and welcome to our newbies! Quick check in~
@trooworld – FIP stands for F’ing Illinois People. Now don’t get me wrong…I’m glad they travel in hordes and spend all their money here, but they drive like freaking idiots and you can’t find parking anywhere.
I will join in on the 4th of July Challenge with walking 20 minutes every day. I know my ankle can handle it, so I need to make it happen!
I had a fantastic long weekend spending time with Miss SophieShe’s such a doll. I am so thankful that I get so much time with her. I went down to my son’s on Friday afternoon, then when I came back Sunday evening, my son & family came back to my house and stayed through Monday. Gotta share a photo of my little Squeaks with her daddy!
Now it’s time for some meal planning/prepping since I’m pretty sure Hunter’s going to be going into labor by the end of the week. She lost her mucus plug and is having semi-regular contractions. So exciting!!!

I went to the dentist today and got my permenate crowns on my back two teeth, good thing to because another piece broke off the temporary one. Life is pretty good I have no complaints. I'm building a garden contest room in my game, its slow going I just don't have any ideas. We are celebrating 15 years, strange to be playing a game that long. I was there on the very first day they opened. I have a lot of tests to get done, they just added a bone density test.
I have been hungrier lately and actually thought I should have gained weight last week. It's weird, I'm hungry after dessert time about 10pm at night. I'm not eating just battling hunger. I've been really good so tonight I get a piece of chocolate.
Hugs to all and congrats to the leaders on the leaderboard.2 -
@sleepygirl79 Oh no I hope you feel better soon! Maybe it’s the sun helping?
@trooworld The suspense on the challenge is killing me, can’t wait to read it! Glad the walk was nice! How are the dogs doing together, are things getting better with fighting? Oh I like the challenge, I’ll have to decide on which area to choose!
@ddainiak You got this, put a stack of magazines by the toilet for all that water going through you!
@micaroo4 Strength training is a great July goal, you’ll be able to tell a difference by then so it will motivate you to keep going.
@DebJB30 Welcome to Mission Slimpossibles Deb!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Walking is about to go down, great goal! Oh my Sophie is so adorable, I’m glad you get in good time with her too! Love the father and daughter picture. Wow praying for Hunter, exciting week!
@FushiaKat Glad to hear maintenance is going so well, you’re doing amazing!
Hi friends! Started the day off slow but got my workout in and work done and made my meal. I’m definitely in on the challenge, I think it’s going to be food-related since that’s where I’m struggling plus I may not be able to keep up my workouts for some of that time but I don’t want to discuss it or I’ll get mad again. I’ll save it for all the letters I’m firing off complaining about my pain clinic. I did my “depressed and need comfort” popcorn with cheese on it last night so it’s time to get my act together again. I’ll be starting seeds at the greenhouse tomorrow. I was hoping to get back to the farm but with both my nephews graduating (5th and 8th grade) and a piano recital I won’t be able to for awhile. Have a great Wednesday!

🎉 Congrats to our leaderboard makers and those who also had a loss this week🎉
I read messages and will come back after a while to do catch up.
Just want to check in.
July Challenge: I need to do the water 💦 drinking. It’s my most challenging.
Ive had some emotional moments this week, calories have been ok but choices not so great. My steps have been miserable the last couple days. So bad my friend (linked to my fitness) checked on me. Went to bed with a headache and woke up to it.
BUT, I’m determined to get myself on track. Cheer me on please! I’m so proud that I have been with you all since December. 21.2 lbs down with you all. I appreciate all the support. Thank you!!!2 -
Feeling human again, so I need to get back to walking. I’ve done zero exercise for 2 weeks! It’s like I’m starting from square one again. Anyone ever tried Thrive? I have about 6 days worth so gonna give it a shot. I lost 50lbs on it several years ago. I just can’t afford it these days. I need the energy because I am feeling so lazy!
FIL is about the same. Found out that cancer has metastasized regionally. We find out the treatment plan next week. (if any) Please pray that I can keep him healthy till the end of August! We found his first son through ancestry.com. He hasn’t seen him since he was a baby when his ex wife moved away with him. (62 years ago). We have a family reunion planned in August. Going to meet the family he never knew he had. Everyone seems excited about it.
Hope everyone has a great day!4 -
Day 2: 10 squats and 10 biceps curls with light weights. Something.3

@Bemybestby60 Great choice on after dinner munching!
@AmbersWay I’m sorry to hear about that headache, hoping it’s starting to go away. You got this, keep up the great work!
@trooworld That seems unfair you can’t hang out during the work party because you have too much work to do, I hope you’re able to hang out a bit longer than planned!
@DJill68 Prayers for your FIL, that sounds like an incredible meeting coming up in August! What’s Thrive, Thrive Market? Sorry if I sound stupid, I Googled it and a lot of different businesses came up.
@micaroo4 Way to go, two great exercises to pick!
Hi team! I did arm strength and stretching then went to the greenhouse and started a bunch of stuff (lettuce, sunflowers, watermelon, butternut squash, delicata squash, and cucumbers) then stopped at the farm to drop off the seeds, everything’s looking great there and a lot of squash and zucchini are ready to be harvested. Worked most of the day and did some mulching and caught up with a few people. I think for my July 4th challenge I’m going to focus on using proper body mechanics. Have a great Thursday!

@trooworld I hope you got your project in and had time to enjoy the party.
@DJill68 prayers for your Fil. Glad you’re doing better now.
@micaroo4 congrats on doing strength training. I started at 1 kg weights and giggled at the idea but they wore my arms out. Before this recent sickness I was up to 4kg. I may go back to 2 now and work my way back up. I’m cheering for you.
@Katmary71 you did amazing at the farm. Great calorie burn. I wanted to tell you I shared Sydney vids with friends, thank you again.

I did WI in today to see how things are going. I’m down .4 and that was a surprise. I hope this is a good sign I may start losing again. It definitely gives me some pep.
Kids and furry family are all doing well. My son got a surprise award for being batch leader (his 3rd year) at a ceremony he attended. Thankfully one of my daughters friends is also in med at his uni and caught a video of it for us. I’m so proud of him. A FB memory popped up the other day of us discussing my health issues (botched surgery and the crisis that ensued) and he said, had that not happened he may not have chose medicine. I pray he takes everything he learned from caring for me, how I was mistreated and how I almost didn’t make it and uses it to be the best doctor ever. Ok I’m an emotional mess and will stop here. Thanks for reading. I’m just so proud of my children.
In other news, it’s getting hot and I’m meeting a new friend of a friend tomorrow and that should be great fun.
Have a great day everyone 💐3 -
Hi, been reading all the posts, but not posting myself. Not much going on, and I just keep on struggling with the same issues with my health/weight. Can be pretty much summed up by saying "I can't get my act together".
Got back to exercise this week. Finally tracked a whole day and stayed under calories yesterday.
Thanks for starting a challenge- I needed one.
My goal is to be mindful of hunger vs desire to eat. It's something I've fallen out of practice with and would like to get better at it again.

May 10 weigh-in was 186 lbs
May 17 weigh-in is 187 lbs
May 24 weigh-in is 193 lbs
May 31 weigh-in is 187.5 lbs
A summary of my month of May. Gaining 5 lbs overnight is not unusual unfortunately losing 5lbs overnight is not so easy. I have always known my eating habits are governed by my emotions. I have to ask myself why and understand the triggers. blood pressure ✔️ ✅️ ☑️2 -

I'll take it! Honest tracking and a little exercise seems to be working....a long way to go but I'm moving in the right direction!7 -
Good morning Slims.
I know it has been awhile since my last check in. I re injured my hamstring and sleep has been non existent this last couple of weeks. I was hanging on by a thread with tracking and eating but last night I went totally off the rails😞. Today is a new day and new month and a good time to start again. I promise once I don’t ache so bad and can can get some sleep I will get back to checking in in a more regular basis6 -
For the July challenge, I would like to go outside for at least 30 minutes per day. If left to my druthers I would just stay inside the house in my climate-controlled environment. Being outside is good for me and its good for the yard too.4

Popping in to say that if Byron doesn't make his exit by next Wednesday, Hunter is scheduled to be induced that evening

Hi team, love seeing all the new posts! I'm about to leave for a board meeting at Dairy Queen and wanted to drop in and say hi first. I did leg strength and stretching then had my permanent bridge put in and went to Trader Joe's. I had a meeting with the charity president that fell through but we still have the board meeting, I'll be over by about 500 calories but better than 1000 if I got fries and chicken strips too! I helped our vice president who is also the garden club vice president get a last-minute speaker, we have a group called The Petal Connection that grows (at the food bank farm) and makes bouquets and takes them to retirement homes and hospitals for people and the grower and I chat a lot at the farm, he's a horticulturalist and figured he'd be full of great flower advice for the garden club. I have said that's the coolest club I've ever been in, right? OK gotta get my stuff and run, have an awesome Friday if I don't drop back in later!

I'm ashamed to be posting this weight gain. Last week I did so well with eating and did great with steps.
This week, with the long weekend and everything I'm in shambles, again.
It's a brand new week and I need to remember that I have done this before and I can do this, again.
On a more positive note. Here's a little cuteness for all of you.

@DJill68 sorry to hear about your FIL’s cancer. Though the family reunion sounds like something he would keep fighting for. That will be so exciting for him.
@Cornanda I get what you say about getting your act together. I have days I’m doing well and other days I want to eat a bag of chips and wash it down with giant slurpee. Focus on what you are doing well and make small changes as you can.
Well last bday done for about a month or more. Sunday weigh in will be the truth, but I feel I was well behaved. Haven’t done any running for awhile. I had that cold this week-it’s still lingering in my chest now, and now we are in a heat wave. I am not too comfortable running in 30C/90F weather in my poor shape. It cooled down nicely tonight but it is too late to go now. Manitoba weather is so bipolar.
Signed my oldest up for driver’s ed yesterday, but he won’t start until late fall. It’s a gong show to register around here so you have to be quick. I’m excited for him, but sad my oldest is growing up, which means I’m getting older too. I like to think of myself as one of the cooler moms though 😁. I can lay down the slang with the teens. Low-key no cap. I be bussin’. Haha!3
