@ashleycarole86 and @bowens1973 must be working those bikes hard today! Imagine us all there waving back

@ashleycarole86 @bowens1973 I hope the heat didn't cause too many problems. Congrats on the effort, you are both commendable.
Sylvia @eggfreak that's a beautiful poem and a good thought to hold onto whilst you deal with your surroundings. Thoughts are with you

@healthygirlintransit Welcome back and thanks for the intro! It sounds like you are returning to the team with new wisdom and a great sense of self-compassion. We all need to cultivate that - even though we are working on change, it is never helpful to throw ourselves under the bus if something goes off kilter, and certainly never helps to put taking care of ourselves last. I'm looking forward to seeing your journey.
Time for the daily update - here are all the weigh-ins due through Monday:

Good luck @ashleycarole86 @bowens1973! I hope your race went well and that the heat wasn’t too bad.
Yesterday was a chores day. I mowed the front lawn for my first time ever before it got too hot out. I enjoy summer, but this humidity for the past couple of weeks has been terrible. We have also had a lot of rain lately, which is good since we didn’t have a lot during the springtime. Also did a ton of laundry, vacuumed, and ironed my clothes yesterday. Still more to do around the house; that is the one downside of having more space.
Our apple tree in our backyard is starting to grow apples, but I don’t think the branches can fully support the weight, so my husband and I are going to look up how we can support the tree as it grows. The tree was already planted here when we bought our home, and this is our first time with a yard, so we have a lot of things to still learn.
For workouts for the week, I just was not feeling a workout this morning, so I’ll see how I feel after work. I plan on doing a spin class on Friday morning, and a circuit training workout on Saturday morning. The other 3 days I want to train, I’ll keep going with Sydney’s workouts. I think Wednesday or Thursday would be a good rest day so long as I do a workout today. Plenty of time left!3 -
Hi all, sorry my intro is late. I'm Katie, 35, living in the UK with my husband and our cats. I gained weight in my early 20s, and haven't managed to lose it despite trying various things. I've been on a journey of self discovery, and after working with a dietician for 6 months I am comfortable with what I want to do for my health. Unfortunately, work has been kicking my butt and I don't have the bandwidth to do much else; it's pure survival mode around here right now.
When I'm not in the thick of it, I enjoy weightlifting and I have an allotment. I've just made a final harvest of strawberries, the first of French beans and my chilli peppers. My plants are finally establishing after a cold/wet April-May followed by a heatwave/drought in June. Alas, so are the weeds!
My sole aim for this week is to eat my breakfast. I've been making it at say 8am, then still have a bowl full of muesli come 11am because I've been too busy.5 -
Weigh in Day: MONDAY
PW: 183.3
CW: 184.53 -
Quick post to log my activity this last week. Weigh-in tomorrow
Sunday, July 2nd - 6,843 steps
Monday, July 3rd - 9,368 steps, 1 hour spin, 1 hour CrossFit
Tuesday, July 4th (my birthday) - 8,344 steps, 1 hour walk/gentle hike with the hubby and dogs, 30 minutes spin
Wednesday, July 5th - 5,045 steps (didn't reach my step goal this day, but also over celebrated the day before and didn't feel well), 30 minutes of walking
Thursday, July 6th - 8,990 steps, 50 minutes CrossFit, 30 minutes of walking
Friday, July 7th - 6,446 steps (donated blood mid-day, wiped me out the rest of the day), 60 minutes spin, 15 minutes of walking
Saturday, July 8th - 12,107 steps, 83 minutes of "sport" ... *kitten* and Bocce
This last week was odd and hard. Birthday, holiday, and schedule all out of whack. I'm not sure if I lost any weight and I feel like if I did, it's from the blood donation. ... I can say that I am very excited to get back on a normal schedule this week. I am a lot more successful with a routine. Does anyone else feel this way?

No where near the green this week but not letting it get in my head - only going forwards. Happy Monday4 -
Happy Monday All!
I'm so sorry I've been MIA the past few weeks. I've been completely out of sorts and just anti-social, anti-accountability, anti-everything. Hopefully the funk has passed and I did get some weights...I'm just not super happy about them.
6/26: 144.7
7/3: 147

I've really been struggling with just all motivation to do much of anything. I'm going to try to get out of that rut with creating a structured plan again, so we'll see how it goes. It appears that there's a fine line between my 'killin' it' mode and complete and utter burnout. For the rest of the month, I'll be trying to revamp my approach to stop this reoccurring cycle. Wish me luck on that.
On the flip side of things, where my physical motivation has waned, my creativity is up. I've been coming up with a bunch of ideas for my wellness coaching thing. Right now I'm in the planning and creating just for kicks, but eventually want to take the leap into creating an LLC to have something outside of my day job. I'm leaning into the flow state right now because I know that there will be an ebb in this energy eventually as well.3 -

@MoonlitMuse Welcome back - it is great to see you again. I'm sorry you've been having a rough go of things for a while, but you're here now. Hopefully we can help you keep on the good side of the burn-out line There's a balance point out there somewhere - sometimes elusive, for sure!1

Losing weight from a blood donation is pretty desperate! I know that feeling well
LOL. I am not counting on losing weight this week because of the holiday, fewer workouts, lots of eating out and desserts to celebrate. I was just saying if I did lose weight, I would most likely attribute it to the blood donation. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I feel the same way about routines. I have a couple breakfasts and lunches that I rotate. Dinners tend to have more options, but typically similar ones. I have gotten into a great gym routine and feel great afterwards. For me it's the food routine I can easily fall out of. My work is literally right next to Publix. Just about any craving can be satisfied there. Lol
Welcome back @MoonlitMuse!2 -
Ready for Tuesday? Here we go:
@lauren_989
@MaddawgMadsen
and I have a question for
@strong_fit_ells and @graceojo999 - you have been very consistent with your weigh-ins for the last few weeks, but always late! Would you like to change your day to Thursday or Friday? That way might be easier for you. Let me know!1 -
@jugar, could I please have this week off. Everything has happened in a flurry in that I have found an aged care placement for Dad and now have this weekend to get the room looking homey before moving Dad in on Monday.2

Can I have some recommendations please? On-demand virtual Yoga training for somebody who hates Yoga...3

@DD265 if you hate yoga, why do it? Just a curiosity question. I highly dislike yoga myself, and I tried several in person classes along with yoga by Adrienne, and still no go lol.5 -

I made a joke that if I lost weight it would be because of a blood donation. I guess I just stuck to my goals better than I realized despite the holiday, birthday, and family in town last week.2 -

You've got it! Good luck with the Dad move. I just hope he isn't going to be trying to star in The Great Escape like my dad! He just can't resist trying to explore anyplace they make it hard to get to....2 -

Hats off!!!2 -
Mighty quiet in here today! I had a lot of running around today - some friends are leaving for the UK tomorrow and they had to spend most of yesterday sandbagging in case of floods from the river that runs right by their house. I had a great time helping them out getting ready for their trip today - it was mayhem, but a lot of fun. Hopefully they'll get on their way OK tomorrow!
Tomorrow is Wednesday already - our wonderful solo appearance will be:
@jeezlawheeze
Still waiting for news from @strong_fit_ells and @graceojo999
Thanks!1 -
Well I know the stress levels are hovering in the red because I've chewed 9 out of 10 finger nails to rags. Getting ready to move my Dad into aged care and spent this morning clearing piles of papers off my dining table. I've set copious reminder messages on my phone for the coming days so there will be so much binging and bonging I'd be forgiven for thinking I'm living inside a cuckoo clock. So grateful for my Dads kind and generous neighbour who gave me a small flat screen TV that will fit nicely in the room he will be moving to. Bought a small bar fridge this afternoon because when you've been having a couple of beers every day for 70+ years that's not a habit that's going to break and thankfully the aged care home recognises that simple truth.
Reminding myself that this is but a moment in time. Keep breathing. It's just like eating an elephant...take it one bite at a time.6 -
@lauren989 to improve mobility and strength of some smaller muscle groups. Also if I can get into it, maybe yoga will provide some stress relief and a routine before bed could help me get to sleep.
@wdalzell5401 I hope your Dad's move goes well. It sounds as though you do so much for him.3 -
@DD265 - I agree with @wdalzell5401 about Yoga with Adrienne; she has a lot of video content. I’ve also used some of the yoga videos from Move with Nicole or Boho Beautiful Yoga, both on YouTube.1

Eegads! How did it get to be Wednesday already? I guess flooding in the rest of the state has something to do with my distraction levels. My food logging has been steadier and I'll be exercising at the indoor pool at my other job this afternoon.
In the meantime, I'm feeling pretty stuck with my "to-do" list with little energy at the end of the work day to do much of anything. I'm going to make myself a shorter list with do-able items and let you know how that goes. I'm famous for using "all-or-nothing" strategies which, as you probably can tell, don't work!! Giving myself grace today and doing the best I can without expecting perfection. It's a start.
Have a lovely day/evening, lovelies.3 -

@wdalzell5401 Sorry you're going through a season of stress with your dad right now. Sounds like progress is being made but it's understandable it's coming with considerable stress.
@DD265 Another vote for Yoga with Adriene. Her classes are lovely.
Thank you to all the lovely teammates that wished me and @bowens1973 well in our Sunday bike event.
WE DID IT! Wow, was the heat intense. Being under a heat warning in a province that's hotter than mine and then riding 121 KM is an experience, to say the least. The first 80 KM or so I felt really good and then things got pretty hard (of course, the heat was really setting in by then). I kept up with water and managed to not get too dehydrated although a slight headache afterwards tells me I had some effects.. and understandably so.
I have the most wicked blisters but other than that I'm no worse for wear. I feel good. It took me just under 6.5 hours but with aid stations stops, moving time was in the 5.5 hour range so I averaged just under 22 KM/hr which is right in the range I was hoping for.
A motivation for getting back down to my previous low weight as biking is definitely easier with less weight on the frame. But all in all, a beautiful day and I'm so proud of our accomplishment. Brad came in a bit before me... he found this race tougher than the Vancouver to Whistler race he does just because the heat was so intense. Love being a couple that works out together.
One of our friends that was riding in the race got stung by a bee while he was riding and had to drop out as he is anaphylactic. Poor guy. He administered an Epi Pen and got himself to a hospital 3 KM away so all was well other than not being able to finish his event.
The group of friends that was together for the race all went their separate ways yesterday, so Brad and I are now in Kelowna just the two of us until Saturday. Today we are doing a walking food tour... combining our meal with exercise.. can't beat that.
Thank you again for all the lovely encouragement. I'll leave you with this race photo of me coming into the finish line.
