Good work, Flying Nic! General anaesthetic does seem to hit the body in unexpected ways. Do you think that is the reason for "still sore basically all over" ?

What kind of protein are you using? I'm pondering that again....round and round I seem to go.

Still dealing with some health issues, but I did finally make a doctor's appointment to talk about some of them. Been really fighting fatigue, brain fog, memory problems, stomach issues, and body aches, but have been putting off talking to my doctor about it. But now it is impacting my ability to do my job. I just forget things, even things I do every single week. Heck, this morning I had a moment where I forgot how to send an email.

My cat also gave me a health scare, but seems to be doing okay now. I won't go into details but I threatened him last night with a vet visit. That seems to have worked. I just freak out if anything seems "off" when it comes to him. Poor thing.

Time to get a good checkup Athijade! I hope you have a good doctor that will work with you. Otherwise shop around until you get someone who listens. Kind of like getting married- you’ll know when you find the right one 😍

Today is the first day for protein. I'm using Isopure unflavored protein powder, which I already had, and Unjury Chocolate Protein powder, which I bought from my bariatric surgeon's office. I also have some optimum nutrition chocolate protein powder which would meet requirements and some lemonade flavored clear whey as well.

Horrible insomnia last night. Couldn’t get to sleep 😴. I think I may have had two hours in fits and starts. Today I feel groggy and crazy hungry. I guess somehow I’m trying to comfort eat into sleeping?

I bet your body is craving Fuel. When you don't sleep well your body doesn't have the energy to power through the day so you crave things that are not good for you in order to give yourself a boost in power. Take a nap I bet you'll feel less hungry.

Okay, so the Unjury protein powder was revolting. I am ditching that and bought some some more ON Double rich chocolate and ON vanilla ice cream last night. I've used them before and they taste pretty good.

Did great tolerating my first day of full liquids. I ate two 2oz portions of butterscotch pudding beefed up with unflavored protein powder, 3oz of cream of mushroom soup (made with fairlife skim milk and blended to break down the chunks so it was perfectly smooth) and my revolting protein drink. 54g of protein, goal of curse is to increase that. Got over 10k steps again.

This morning I am feeling alot less sore, it's mostly just in my abdomen now, to be expected. I actually feel alot closer to normal, so I cleaned my kitchen sink and counters, started a light load of laundry and unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher. Being careful of course, no heavy lifting.

    Day 5 update:

Okay. Up to 11.5k steps today. Definitely moving and feeling good. The bruising is starting to yellow, and I am itching pretty good. Yay, healing!

Got up to 75g protein, which sounds good, but... That's the only change from day 4 and I am currently experiencing my first reflux since surgery. Which meant I had to bust open a nexium and mix the granules with water. Turns out those little granules get stuck in your teeth and they are bitter as can be.

All my other food was the same, so I reckon it has to be the increased protein. Tomorrow I'm going to drop it back a bit and maybe try to get it in earlier in the day. See how it goes.

I also froze two trays of milk cubes tonight, so I can hopefully get icy cold slushy protein shakes.

How’s the recovery coming along Nic? And how are you doing Laurie?

Nothing new here. We’re having a bit of “winter”. Low 60s by day and 40s at night. The natives are bundled in puffer coats, scarves, gloves and boots.

Recovery is going great. Still obviously tender in my belly, bruising is yellowing up but it only hurts when I have to really use my core for something like sitting up from a laying position, etc.

So @Yoolypr ... how much pudding powder goes into 750g 0% Greek yogurt? and do I spoon/fork/whisk/immersion blender/hand mixer with the (which) attachment .... Just remember that there were SOME kitchen effects last time I tried this!

3/4 cup (185 grams) plain yogurt and 1 tablespoon dry sugar free pudding mix. Do not use more pudding mix or it gets pasty. Whisk by hand until creamy using a deep bowl. The point is to work air into the mix. About 85 calories total.

Knowing PAV making a single serving is not sufficient. So - multiply the ingredients proportionally. I think 750 grams (3 cups?) of yogurt and 4 tablespoons of pudding powder will work. Remember no extra pudding mix unless you want it less fluffy.

Do NOT attempt to mix it all in the yogurt container!🙄. Empty the yogurt container and add the pudding into a deeeeep bowl or better yet, a deep cooking pot with high sides. Mix using an electric hand mixer. If the bowl/pot is deep enough an immersion blender would be okay too.

Then you can move the mixture back into the original yogurt container. There will be excess quantity due to pudding and air volume. So be prepared either to eat or have another container ready.

Yes this involves washing containers, bowls, mixer and scraping out fluff. But definitely no splattered walls or kitchen counters. 🥰

So the doctor contacted me Friday (though somehow I did not see the email until last night) and wants me to keep track of what I am eating. Not how much, but just WHAT. She wants to see if my digestive issues and my fatigue and brain fog could be due to my diet. There are just a number of things it could be, so best to start gathering data that may help us figure it out. My appointment is December 5th so we may need to keep doing it after that, but every little bit helps.

    Good news, Flying Nic!

PAV - looking forward to your update....I've been really enjoying the plain greek, with a sprinkle of chocolate chips and apple slices.

Very smart approach, Athijade. Seems your doctor is a keeper (fingers crossed).

That is quite the drop in temperature, Yooly! No wonder people are bundled up.

I'm doing okay....still holding my breath waiting for next steps...but healing :)

I guess all the medical updates are of the neutral good variety?! Same here in terms of being in a holding pattern. not diagnosed with anything, not given any instructions or drugs, or appointment call back since not a priority concern... so keep waiting to be called to be given a future appointment!

So I used the jello box which comes to about 30 to 33 g and 750g yogurt. There is no way that this is more than four tablespoons in fact, it probably is less by volume

What I have failed to achieve so far is any sort of fluffiness!

I guess I will try again though. I am getting the urge of going the apple chippit route too now that Laurie has reminded me!

Now where can I find the essence of soup that is used by nongshim for their kimchi noodles and also the same for some of the 260 calorie or so pho noodle packages (ho-ya comes to mind)

Because I seem to prefer the calories to reward ratio offered by one 50 to 60 g pouch of rice noodles plus 500 to 750 g of veggies in 800g to 1000g of water to make soup.

But that leaves me with a problem of wasting one set of noodles and of incredibly high amount of sodium which am I going to assume are not to my benefit even though they don't seem to concern any of the doctor type people who look at my numbers 🤷‍♂️

Might be the brand of yogurt? I use the Kirkland Costco Greek yogurt. ve2nmndzdj8f.jpeg

Try the instructions and variations on the site https://simple-nourished-living.com/2-ingredient-greek-yogurt-pudding-fluff/

I think there’s a variation with protein powder somewhere online.

I bought some fage 2% today, it's in the list to try. Probabky with the chocolate fudge pudding, since I'm not sure how butterscotch would go with the tanginess.

Vietnamese beef stew over fluff any day! 😋

I only make fluff in small one serving size. The recipe might not translate well doubling or tripling? I leave future experiments to PAV and Nic.

I can only eat so much per day! Maybe I can try it at dinner. I already had a lemonade Creamsicle protein shake for breakfast and butterscotch protein pudding for lunch.
