@rainyrae congratulations! I am expecting a grandson in February. It is a great motivator. I have three other grandchildren and I want to be active with them.

I think the fact our January challenge starts on New Years Eve gives us time to look at what has worked the last year and that we can continue doing in 2024. We can also reflect on what didn’t work and what we can change to make 2024 a success. Please share with the team.

What did work last year-I actually started to reach out. I have been apart of MFP for many years. I have not had great success. Mainly because I know what I should do but I don't do it. I have learned what foods are triggers for me and that I just need to avoid. My change for 2024 is avoid the things that are triggers. I have been more active lately and I plan to continue with that. I am loving having these groups. It helps so much.
My plan is to reach step goal of 9,000 steps. I also plan on working out 4-5 times a week. I would like to say more but I am setting the goal realistic and anything else is a bonus. I will weight in on Saturdays. December I weighed in at 197, That was higher than what I started in December. I was sick the last two weeks of December and I snacked a lot and didn't eat a lot of meals. So I was not surprised.

My husband decided that he was going to do a dry January challenge and I very rarely have a drink so that isn’t much of a challenge to me. So I decided that I would do no candy or desserts in January which will be very difficult for me. End of day two now and I am really craving chocolate. I am trying to tell myself if I can just get through one week it will be a little easier and then who knows, maybe after the month ends, it won’t be difficult at all and I’ll just continue. I think I may just need to go to bed early to keep from eating it. Hopefully tomorrow is a little better.

I seem to have a road block about working out ... I am terrified to get more injured ...I hate to admit that I did not workout yesterday...I had a migraine yesterday and my foot said nope not today...

That is a valid fear. Maybe you could start off with a shorter goal. Put on a seated exercise video and set a timer for 5 minutes. Do this for a few days and bump it up by a minute or two. Also, it is important to listen to your body. I had a terrible headache also and I was lying down all afternoon and evening. Have you started physio yet?

Have fun and win big. I missed out on exploring the strip because of all the walking. We stayed at the flamingo but if I ever go back I will stay at the Paris. I loved the look of everything in that casino.

I think a few of us are finding the cravings worse since the holidays. When you get a chocolate craving try to do something that will distract you. Are you able to remove all chocolate in your place for the next month? Maybe you can get your husband to hide it. If I think something is going to be too much of a temptation, my husband hides it.

Thankfully I swam yesterday morning and was able to convert it to steps. I didn’t sleep well last night because of my old friend called pain. I am playing it by ear if I will swim or do mini walks. Yesterday at the pool I ran into a lady I haven’t seen since May. She couldn’t believe how much weight I have lost. It sure feels good to get compliments about your

Trying to not let the stress get those numbers up. Been eating pretty well, but did get some discount M&Ms as well as some sour patch kids that were on sale . I've also been on a milkshake kick, but I've been making them at home, so for liquid I use a meal replacement shake, that helps, right 😅 thanks for being here ya'll!

That is exactly what I did. I told him not only to take the chocolate to the basement but to hide it as well 😂

I’m planning to start swimming next week. It’s an activity that I truly enjoy and my community just built a new gym with a pool. Starting to feel a little better so I’m hoping to follow through with that plan. How do you convert it to steps?

I’m planning to start my step goal next week. This week is a bust with being under the weather. My goal will be 6000/day. I can post what few steps I am getting this week but I’m mainly resting.

It’s definitely better than getting it at an ice cream shop with higher protein count I would imagine and it’s great that you’ve been eating well. Maybe you could make the milkshake, then portion it out into just 1/2 cup servings to enjoy when stress gets the best of you. I’m a stress eater too at times and a short 5-10 minute walk helps me sometimes.

Motto: 🏋🏾‍♀️ Don't think, just do it!!

Recap: I didn't want to budge this morning but I got it in! Weights: Shoulders, Back and Chest - 2 exercises each body part. 30 minutes on the treadmill. The scale remained the same after 4 days of splurging... It was all the walking!! I increased weights on my roll machine today and contemplated on my laterals (next time)! Also back on the fast train today (IF) only 5 minutes left. I can do it

    - THOUGHTS: You have to be willing to change what you think is good enough!

@summersixties ~ It was a conscious break...and that makes all the difference. You'll be back in no time! I think that's a good reason to have a range weight goal to provide a bit of flexibility.

    @Chickieboom22 ~ {{hugs}}

@Megan_smartiepants1970 ~ Getting hurts is obviously a real fear. Maybe just start with some stretches that don't require you to be on your foot/feet. That's still exercise. Start slow and at your comfort level. You will get there.

@prodigal6766 ~ you don't need to do anything for January. Once you're in you're in...unless you stop participating🙂

    Step Challenge - Goal 8500
    12/31 - 18,504
    1/1 14,231
1/2 6,138 - travel day and lost 2 hours with the time change. I really want to get back to averaging 10k a day. 🏋🏾‍♀️ Don't think, just do it!!
