I'm still here! Been a bit hectic here this week so I've been lurking not posting but I'm still fully on track and I have the bit firmly between my teeth....

glad to see you're around @Bella_Figura

we do have a "mild" interest in you pinging once in a while ya know Ms.

Did Bella scale the alps again? How is the garden coming up? Did you can anything? Are you selling veggies on the side of the road yet? Are you freezing them? Eating bunnies like there is no tomorrow? Did MIL survive an encounter with Bella? Did Bella survive a visit with MIL? How are Bella and Kim doing? You know... all the important to us things that are taking place across the pond! And yet we are being denied!!!!!!! :disappointed:

Absolutely right PAV! I feel abandoned when our peeps don’t check in once in a while. And I wonder -jealously - what exciting things are going on in their lives. At least I could share vicariously.

My life is anything but exciting - nothing but hospital appointments with MIL, paddling through mud at the allotment, trying not to murder MIL, taking the doggo to yet another vet appointment, having numerous Zoom meetings, trying not to murder MIL....Kim and I are both fine, though Kim is still waiting for his appointment for the heart monitor...but at least the anticoagulants seem to be working as his hand and arm have turned from purple to deep pink and he can now bend his fingers, so some of the swelling must have dispersed. We remain cheerful...

Yup - old people! Some just insist on becoming incredibly needy. Or maybe it’s just fearful of being unable to deal with an ever changing world. I’ve been there Bella and I respect you for helping MIL despite probably minimal thanks.

So I had my barium swallow study Thursday AM. Managed to keep the solution down just long enough to get some images. Then my EGD Friday. Neither test was real conclusive, as far as I can tell. I am having a PICC line placed again today with labs and start IV nutrition again tomorrow, ideally.

I really would just like some answers. We've gone ahead and booked a trip to see my family in Canada in July and I really don't need to be dealing with this at that time.

Ugh. Nic, I am so so sorry you are dealing with that again!

My mouth is still healing. I would say I am at about 80%. Still have holes in my jaw and have to be careful with what I eat. As of right now I am staying away from rice, stuff with small seeds, stuff that is crunchy or "sharp", and anything more chewy (so no steak or cubed chicken breast for example). Hopefully by next week I will be able to eat pretty much anything I want, though I may still restrict crunchy/sharp items like chips and nuts for a further week.

Glad you’re able to eat again Athijade. Exploring all the soft non chewy foods?

Nic you definitely need some answers. Uncertainties aren’t acceptable. Keep pushing for some definite diagnosis.

I spent a few hours this morning getting an MRI of my wrist. Who knew I’d have to strip down to my skivvies for a wrist exam! And I had no idea this would involve being face down on a hard slab with my arm above my head trapped in a big plastic gizmo. And then rolled into the giant tube wearing a head set to protect my ears from the noise. This lasted about 20 minutes during which I was told NOT TO MOVE. I was drooling on the pillow, had a numb arm and shoulder ache. Geez I thought this would be simple!

But I did get home in time for the big eclipse. It was cloudy but visible. k3ewxv1zcwtp.jpeg

Saw my orthopedic specialist today to decipher the MRI. Nothing serious- a small cartilage tear that will eventually heal. And a whole lot of degenerative arthritis that never bothered me before. Basically it was “sorry honey, you’re an old lady and it’s to be expected.” I can live with that and some Tylenol.

On a happier note- I’m all packed for my adventure to Seattle tomorrow morning. Flights at 6am which means leaving the house at 3am but I’m a lousy sleeper so that works fine. Five fun days exploring the Pacific Northwest- woohoo. 🎉

Both times PAV. This week in Seattle and also in September we spend 2 days in Seattle before the cruise to Alaska. The cruise is when we stop in Victoria from 8-11 pm.

Thanks for the good thoughts. We have a busy schedule planned this week. We’re saving down town and Pike Market for September.

We have a couple more possible trips for the summer. Definitely going to Ohio to visit family.

Got to log that airport time while we’re able to travel. The clock is running……

    Afternoon all!

@Yoolypr - sorry to hear about your arthritis diagnosis …. Hope you have a lovely break in Seattle ….3am start though!

@nicsflyingcircus & @Athijade - sorry to hear you both are having health probs - hope get well soon🤞

Saw Rheumy & Renal bods yesterday & blood results showing overall reducing inflammation - so on our holiday front, it is looking good for a freebie long weekend break to Barcelona in June! 😎….. Covid & Shingles vaccines are booked in!

Discussed plan to get back to work - bods advised after next OPD 02/05 - will have to phased & as long as WFH. Can live with that!
Office days often involve us eating too many goodies - far to many of us bake!

What are “bods”? Haven’t heard that one before.

Well, my follow-up was not super informative. No H. Pylori, no ulcers, no stricture, basically nothing in any of the testing to indicate what might be causing my issues.

For now, I am tolerating food and drink again, so the plan is to stop the tpn, take the picc line out and continue with my carafate 1g 4x/day and my nexium 40mg 2x/day, at least until my 6 month surgical followup in about 1 month.

Back to work tomorrow, with strict instructions that if the issues crop up again at all, to contact my surgeon immediately. Because I was able to head it off sooner this time, I did alot better health, energy and missing work wise.

Have a great trip, Yooly! Glad you received a wrist diagnosis. I hope it is up to snuff soon.

Barcelona!!!!! WOohoo :) I'm also curious about "bods" - new term to me.

Sounds really frustrating, Nic. Glad that you are in the clear on thos things. Hope the mystery just disappears. Soon. I imagine it is going to be pretty wonderful to get the picc line out!

On the plus side, it's been gorgeous here the last 4 days, upper 70's to low 80s and sunny, and I've taken advantage by spending about 2 hours each afternoon up by our pool, basking in the sun like a lizard and periodically getting waist deep into the pool as a cool down since I can't get my picc line site wet. I am pleasantly sunburned and freckly, lol.
