Friday Weigh In
PW: 257.3
CW: 257.1
Tiny loss but we'll take it. had a poor night of sleep. Luckily work was quiet. I honestly spent the last 2.5 hours of the workday napping on my couch. First nap on my NEW couch, and it gets the napping seal of approval!!
Going to take a walk now. Feeling a little restless and the rain/thunder has moved on for now. Tomorrow should clear up for kayaking!7 -
Wow what a day!
First of all - weigh in. Not fabulous, but certainly within the normal fluctuations

After getting through a morning of errands, too much car, and not much movement, I had lunch with a musician I wanted to meet for a project I'm putting together for December. What a wonderful person! We had a great meeting, I had a tofu-veg bowl kind of thing that I could not finish. The discussion was very nourishing, though. Then I went and had a lovely session with Jasper - out on the trail fussing through the deer flies and all, but enjoying the wind and the warm afternoon, views, and just hanging out together. Then a friend called - this is a young man I consider to be yet another adopted son. His partner died of cancer a few days ago (they are in their 30s) and he was in pieces. He is a good friend of my daughter, so we were both hearing from him - this young man is the kind of person who will always be there for someone in need, so now we need to make sure he is supported. He is far away, and no matter what we are going to make sure that he is not alone right now.
In short - a busy and useful day. I hope you all had a good one and will continue to do so tomorrow!6 -
@lauren_989 I hope your father's surgery goes well and that your time in RI and Boston is good, even in not easy. Many hugs to you!3

Made it to the end of the week! After being really hungry last night, I decided I'm going to take a week or so in maintenance mode to let my body take a break from my deficit. Still going to be tracking and weighing, just a bit of a rest so I stay on track in the long run.4
-
@jugar sorry to hear about you and your daughter's friend's partner passing from cancer. 30s is very young! I am glad he has you to lean on, even if you are not (distance) close.
@Lyss983 sometimes a maintenance break is ok and needed! The key to remember (or remind myself) is maintenance and not what I was eating before 😂4 -

This had been a rough week. Lots going on and not enough time to focus on my weight loss. I need to get better at balancing things.
I have a fun week planned with a few bike rides with friends. I know that my diet is what really derails me. I need to get better at planning meals. I fly by the seat of my pants too much and don't always choose wisely.
Have a great weekend!3 -

Good on you for posting - the next 7 days are yours - you got this Shawn3 -
Happy Saturday. We're in for a rainy weekend but it hasn't started so far so we got out around lunchtime to walk the dog and get about half the target steps. Movement is hard to come by at the trailer without going for a walk so if I don't get out again I'll be short. There is not enough room inside the trailer to make them up inside!
Lots going on, our city is now under a state of emergency as the feeder main of the water supply is going to take 3-5 weeks more to repair, this is after a full week of being under restriction already. Obviously it could be worse but they don't want us doing anything unnecessary indoors and outdoor water use is banned - so skip showers, limit laundry, limit dishes, etc. Our laundry room is toppling over with dirty clothes that I thought I'd be able to start washing next week but now with 3-5 more weeks of this it's going to stay that way.
We may be back to working from home, waiting to hear.. the city has asked those who can to do so as water usage is lower when employees are not in their buildings. I do better with health and fitness when I'm not commuting (or at least that was true during COVID) so maybe Brad and I can make that the silver lining.5 -

Apologies for the late post!3 -
@Barbara13B I hope you have a better week and have fun biking with friends!
@micki48 got your updated weight. Every tenth sure does count! 😄
@ashleycarole86 oh wow! Another 3-5 weeks is a long time to limit water use! Hopefully you can work from home.
I got up early this morning and went for a 5.6 mile walk with a walking/running group this morning. It was nice to get out before it got too hot! I ate well today and tomorrow will prep for the week!4 -

Another week down! I am happy that I have kept up with the squat challenge - I hope it is going well for you too @Gidgitgoescrzy and others. We're up to 30 now and it feels good 🦵
I'm heading to Alberta on Tuesday to visit my daughter for 9 days - good thing we're not going to be in Calgary with the difficult water problems I hope you are able to work from home and wash at least a few clothes @ashleycarole86 - it is hard not having water, that's for sure. We might go to Calgary on the last day before I leave, so I'll let you know if we're going to be passing through. It would be great to see you.
Great job on the 5.6 miles this morning @lauren_989 ! And staying on track, meal prepping - sounds like you are on a roll3 -
The last couple days I’ve been a little off food wise. Nothing terrible but more snacking than I was doing. I’m sure it’s the job thing. I just want to know for sure for sure. I feel like then I’ll relax.
I had all kinds of snacks out when my daughter came over Friday after work. We also opened a bottle of wine and I had a glass and a half.
Time to log it all and rein it in. Sitting in my yard tonight. Hubby’s hot Indian music on and there are sirens coming from the road. Not the most chill. 😂 I just did a calming guided meditation. It was helpful. It is soooooo lovely out tonight. Cool, no humidity. Smell of someone’s fire pit in the air. I’m feeling very grateful and lucky to have this home and yard to enjoy. The milkweed flowers smell lovely too.
Made sure to hit my 7k today. Missed it the last two days.
@jugar Sending prayers for your young friend and his devastating loss. He is lucky to have you and your daughter. ❤️
@lauren_989 Gook luck with your travels north. Hope your dad’s surgery goes smoothly.
@ashleycarole86 Wow! Water restrictions for that long. That’s an adjustment. Hope you find that silver lining.
@Kali225 Hope kayaking was wonderful. That storm sure pushed out the heat and left us with a beautiful day and night here in Philadelphia.
Have a great night everyone.3 -

Happy Saturday! Tried out a "make your own workout" app and seemed to go well, so I'll try it again tomorrow. Also got a set of resistance bands in, looking forward to adding those into the workout rotation!3

The horse show went well. We are headed home right now and it is going to be a late night! I am impressed with my niece driving us through Salt Lake City towing a horse trailer and three horses! All of this after she was awarded grand champion for the youth division!
My doctor did send the biopsy order in. I just have to get it scheduled. I left a message to schedule it yesterday.
I have to spend tomorrow fishing on the lake with the owners of our company who are in town from Germany. It will be fun, but it will be another long day after this horse show.
Here are a couple of pictures from the show. Enjoy!

Happy June 16th! I've missed you all and am getting back into the swing of things. I'd like to change my weigh in day to Wednesday, please.
My tracking has been non-existent, as has my exercise. I realize how easily overwhelmed my emotional system has been, especially this year with the death of my brother in May, 2023 and Dad this April. It's better when I can keep my head in today and not get worked up about future events.
So, with that in mind, I'll track my food today, take a walk, and make better food choices with more veggies and fewer processed foods like crackers, which have been tasting really good for a few days!
I'm catching up on all of the posts since the beginning of this month. I'm glad you're here to keep me moving forward. Every step counts.
Thanks!
PS @Lyss983 and @Kali225 I'm definitely an unfrosted strawberry pop tart aficionado, AND rarely buy them because, well, I'll eat them all!4 -

I can change your weigh in day to Wednesday. I know you have been going through a lot recently! Don't forget you also have the option to be on the support team if needed. Thinking about you!2 -

Thanks for the motivation with the squat challenge! I know I really really need some sort of strength training. Daily squats don't quite work for me atm,...
Here's a quick thought for you to consider: After using the toilet, start to stand up (without using your arms to push on your thighs), then start to sit again (but don't touchdown on the seat). Repeat 2-3 times every time you use the toilet. Then, stand all the way up and move on with your day. I promise you that within 1 week, your thighs will be so much stronger that you'll feel more confident doing more "regular" squats. What are squats good for if not to help us use the toilet without struggling to push/pull ourselves up into our old-person years?
I've given that advice to a lot of older people at the therapeutic pool where I worked, and they reported great success. So simple, yet effective. One of my favorite combinations!
Let me know if it works for you.
