Hello everyone!
My name is Jennifer and I’m a single 50 year old. I have an American Blue rabbit (her name is Kismet). I have 3 children in their 20s and they have all blessed me…I went from zero to 4 grandchildren in the past 14 months! I love to rubber stamp (I’m a Stampin’ Up demo) and make cards. I'm an active member of my church, and also love horror movies. I have worked in Community Development at my County for 19 years.
I have always been a yo-yo dieter, but mainly up. When I lose weight, I can never seem to keep it off for longer than a year. I have 52 pounds to lose. Today is Day 1 with starting back on my old fashioned 2010 WW points program. For me, there’s just something about putting pen to paper in this online world that is nostalgic. I read through all my previous weeks and enjoyed the little notes I had added to my weekly forms. I am feeling so motivated! I put my lunch together last night, weighing everything and writing down the points so I wouldn’t have to worry about it this morning. I usually end up working through my breaks at work, but I made sure to take my morning break so I could walk. My ankle was hurting and I was sweating and thirsty after just a 15 minute walk, but I’ve gotta start somewhere, right?

Congrats to everyone that made the Leaderboard!
@trooworld – Fitting in walking is a double edged sword. I get so busy at work and then it’s already lunchtime and I didn’t have my morning walk. I’m setting a LOT of reminders on my phone now. I’m so sorry you’re struggling at the conference. I get it. I have a yearly work conference and I always try to get a peripheral seat. Sending you a big virtual hug.
@TeresaW2024 – That puzzle is AMAZING! And I think the missing piece is adorable.
@19shmoo69 – Oh that puppy is gonna melt your heart!
@laurelfit57 – Your haul from the farmers market sounds perfect!
@FoxyMoxie04 – Welcome! You are absolutely right – I need that reminder often that everyone’s journey is different.
@NanaB1835 – Welcome!
@txcritter69 – So glad Diesel started eating. And Woot Woot that your face is healed and you can get back outside in the wee early morning hours
I met up with an old friend for dinner on Saturday and she’s been able to maintain her weight loss for over a decade. She’s a slow eater and I noticed that I was pacing her. I ate half my meal and realized right away that I was full, so I set the other half aside to have later. I don’t want to overwhelm myself with too many things this month, but I will also try to eat a little slower.

Ack. I'm sorry. I can only promise to do better this month. It was food. I didn't wildly overeat, but I ate sweets, and I cannot do that. I am so glad to be turning over a new page today.
I am sorry to have been quiet! I had decided I would go do all the health checks and then had a (for me) Scary Result. Much stress and activity around that. I'd like to not get a call back on a mammogram again anytime soon. As a lucky winner, I got to have a much more rigorous session and some more checks, and we seem now to have determined that I am fine. And I am also done being sore. Geez. So, yeah, ate a bit of my stress.
On the plus side, I have been overall getting in more movement.
My plan for this week:
- Track my food on MFP (I like the food racking here better than LoseIt; I did create an account there so I can avoid losing track of some folks I'm find of that aren't in this group)
- Actually do wind down 30 minutes before bed (books allowed)
- Garmin "Rise & Grind" badge: I am playing to earn a badge for getting in exercise before 7 AM each morning this week. I did it today!
- Step Goal for the week: 70,000
- Bicycling Goal for the week: 25 miles2 -
@trooworld So glad yesterday was better, hoping today was the same! It is hard when you're eating out at something like a convention, good for you tracking everything! Last week I did not eat well, and I did not track
@TeresaW2024 poor Maggie! Have you thought of using a baby onesie on her? That's what I did with Vannie when she had her surgery and it was much better for her than the cone.
@Vegan4lyfe212 wow! Look at you and those beautiful grandbabies!! Eating slow, I know it works, but I always seem to be in such a hurry. If you can do it I should be able to do it!
@19shmoo69 huge congratulations to you!!
Well… I finally made it to the gym today and did an hour of weight/strength training, it felt really good! I am signed up for a spin class tomorrow morning, I have no idea about this instructor but I really need to get back to spinning and commit to it twice a week. Slowly but surely my pulse keeps going up, blood pressure is fine but I know exercise really helps to keep me in order, so no more mucking about.
My eating was on track and I went out to the farm to visit with my cousin, it was a beautiful day 😊3 -

No change. That’s ok. I have been sick. I have been medicated and in bed for a week. So hoping to jump back in. Praying to get back on track. Too many excuses and jumping off the wagon has gone on.
July intro
I am an expat mom of 3 from the midwest. Currently in Istanbul. As most know I really enjoy it here. There’s an amazing expat community, beautiful locals and a ton of historical places. Weather is great and the food is well great for low carb, if you skip the Turkish breads.
I adore this group and sad that I haven’t been keeping up. It shows in my gains. Ugh! So you new members, do your check ins, they help tremendously. The support here is great.
Working on my 10k steps daily, trying to get my carbs back down this week (withdrawals) and maybe push to get a work out in.
Praying there’s a loss next week. I need motivation.
Congrats to the board makers, welcome to the new members and hi to all the rest.
I hope to do accountability check ins daily. So they may be just only that. I will read up though.3 -
DOG POST
@19shmoo69 - OMG Mr Darcy! Too cute
@TeresaW2024 - Maggie is being a diva about her cone too. Her poor leg.
@txcritter69 - glad Diesel ate and hope he's ready to start learning now!
@laurelfit57 - How are Ty and Vannie?
@Katmary71 - Yes, he's going to be 2 in a few more days. I can't believe it either. He's finally settling down and starting to act like a gentleman.
@trooworld - Say hi to Violet and Daisy from Gus
Have a nice Tuesday!

Happy Canada Day!!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Those babies!!!I’m glad you are back on track and feeling motivated. Just remember that motivation is a feeling, and those often change, as we well know. Commit yourself to do everything right for this week. Then, commit for next week. Rinse and repeat. I’m a very fast eater and feel like I’m always trying to slow down.
@AustinRuadhain I had the same issue with sweets! I am so glad that everything came back OK with your health scare.
@laurelfit57 I ordered a one-leg sleeve that ties around her body, and so far, so good! She is very aware that her leg hurts, so she hasn’t wanted to do anything with it. Let’s hope that continues until next Monday’s staple removal day.
@AmbersWay I’m glad you are having a positive experience living in Istanbul. I would love to see all those historical sites and eat their food. Just check in when you can.
Good morning! Well, my weight isn’t going in the right direction again!I know it’s because of the ice cream in the evenings. We ate the last of it last night and have already told my people not to expect anymore! Today, I need to run to work and then to Aldi. I’ll go when Maggie is high on her meds and can stay in her crate with Joe watching her. Have a good day!

@trooworld
Is it too late to be an active member for July? If not, I think my weigh-days were Fridays and my SW would be 266.2
Thank you for good wishes, my surgery went fine and I've healed up well. I'm back to both jobs which makes my bank account happy. I'm not completely released for lifting heavy stuff or swimming but that should change in a couple weeks. I'm very happy to be up and moving again though. It feels good.
My Dr was able to prescribe wegovy to me and I was actually able to fill it. I'd been on saxenda but it's super hard to find; I could never find it for more than a month or two and I'd have to stop. I'm only on my first week but I'm looking forward to the food noise going away. I think outside of losing weight, that's the best part. No food noise.2 -
Good morning,
@vegan4lyfe2012 I love the picture of you and them babies. When we go out to eat I ask for a Togo box at the beginning of my meal, half everything on my plate box and it up to take it home. It really helps with not over eating.
@megnolia82 🎉Happy Anniversary!🎉 Congrats on 18 yrs.
@AustinRuadhain I am glad that you had a great outcome from all the tests done. It is crazy how they mess with your mind over the mammograms. I have gone through it twice. Your stomach stays in knots the whole time. Your plan for this week sounds solid. You got this.
@laurelfit57 Sounds like you had a great day yesterday and I hope spin class goes well today.
@AmbersWay I am glad to see that you are ready to tackle this new month.
@Cornanda I hope Diesel is not being hardheaded about learning he's new norm. I am so ready for him to be back home.
@TeresaW2024 Smart choice on the Ice cream. I have been doing the same here. If it is not in the house I cannot crave it.
@trooworld So glad the convention went better after the first day. Have a great day with your friend at the meditation garden today. Hello Violet and Daisy.
Diesel started place and E collar conditioning yesterday. So we will see how well he does over the next few days.
Me I am not doing so well mentally, I did not realize until last night just how much him being away was affecting me. I am having a real hard time with this. I was up until 1230 this morning having a meltdown. So for today my goal is to move as much as possible to get my steps in. I am trying to talk myself into doing a workout DVD. We will see.
Have a blessed day!3 -
@megnolia82 – Happy Belated Anniversary!
@AustinRuadhain – So glad your scary results ended with good news. Five years ago they kept me at imaging all day. They took images and spotted something way towards the back. Made me redo images two more times. Then they had me come back the next day for an ultrasound. Within a few minutes, they were able to determine it was just a fluid filled cyst and I was fine. That was an extremely stressful two days. Now I get the 3-D imaging and it’s a quick 20 minute appt.
@laurelfit57 & @trooworld – Yeah. Eating fast is something I do a lot without realizing it until I’m with a slow eater…and there aren’t many slow eaters left in my little world. Let’s just try to make a conscious effort to slow it down a bit.
@AmbersWay – Welcome back to the wagon!
@Cornanda – LOL on the dog post
@TeresaW2024 – Yes, I know I lose motivation quickly. I can definitely take it one week at a time
@trooworld – It’s just so easy to work through breaks. Man. If I got paid for every lunch hour I worked through… Glad the convention got better for you. How funny that someone was sneaking in their pug to their booth! Your day at a meditation garden with your friend sounds like a much needed respite. Hope you can relax and catch up. Your Daisy and Violet are too stinkin’ cute
@bethanie0825 – I missed it…what surgery did you have? I’m glad you’ve healed well. Good to see you back on here!
@txcritter69 – Immediately boxing up half the meal right off the bat is a terrific idea. I should start doing that. I am so sorry that you’re struggling so much with Diesel being away. Can you maybe do a little gardening to take your mind off of missing him?
Yesterday was a great day with both food and exercise. However, with my bad ankle, I have learned that when I get over 9,000 steps in a day, my foot is trashed for the next day. I completely overdid it yesterday, so I’m not doing any focused walking today so my ankle can heal. Tomorrow evening is my Village’s fireworks. They are considered one of the top displays in the Midwest. It starts at 5pm and goes until after the display. It’s like a carnival atmosphere. I’m just about a 15 minute walk to the fields, so I’ll baby-wear Oliver and walk down. Not sure if Hunter will want to try with her two littles, but even if Ollie and I go to it alone, we’re sure to bump into lots of people we know. I love my yearly tradition that started when my son was a baby and we saw Independence Day at the theater. After the fireworks, I stay up until about 2am watching that movie. Sometimes I’m joined by my children and their friends, sometimes not. But it’s something I’ve done every year since 1996. Happy Independence Week to all my U.S. Peeps!

Happy Independance day everybody! I hope you get to see some amazing fireworks. We usually sit on our balcony with binoculars and watch the firework show that Canyon Lakes puts on, they put a barge in the lake and shoot the fireworks from there. It's nice to be able to stay at home and miss the crowds.
Congratulations to the team member on the Leaderboard, well done.
It's hot here, I'm staying cool in the house doing stuff. My weight is holding study I cut back on the number of cherries I was eating. Yesterday I went to Sams Club to get a roasted chicken and they had cherries again. I got 2lbs.
Try to stay cool and remember to stay hydrated, it's easy to forget this time of year for some odd reason.

Today
8.4k steps
Lots of liquids (meds dehydrated me and I felt it on my kidney, so no more allergy meds)
Calories are a bit under. Had too many carbs. Went out for coffee with the kids. I split carrot cake into 3 so I had a small amount.
Had a good day. I’ll post pictures of historical place when my friend comes next week. Then I’ll be going into the old part of the city.
Love the doggie pictures. This is an old but fave for two of my girls.

Thanks, that did not show up on my feed. I've looked a few times.
I've noticed if the results come up small sometimes if you reload the page it will come up larger. I'm nearsighted but in my 50s so when it comes up tiny I can't see anything.0 -

Welp, I had to go sit at my daughter's work place until she got off work. A guy showed up asking common sense questions repeatedly. It bothered her so off I went. I had to shift my whole schedule for today. She's worth it.4
-
@Cornanda ty and Vannie are still the goofballs that keep me laughing♥️
@TeresaW2024 I am so glad that you were able to get something for dear Maggie Mae that wasn't the cone of shame. I can't resist ice cream, but I found a great substitute at Costco. Chocolate ice cream is my thing and these organic fudge bars are amazing.
@trooworld I am so glad that today went so much better. That picture of Daisy and Violet melts my heart! They cuddle!!
@Txcritter69 I am so sorry that you are struggling with diesel being gone, it is amazing how they are just part of our heart. Big hugs being sent to you!
@vegan4lyfe2012 that Fourth of July celebration sounds like so much fun! It's always good to know what your limits are
@Ambersway I love that picture of your dogs!
I actually made it to spin class this morning, I just about talked myself out of it lol. It was a super busy day, I went to spin class, then did some cleaning, grocery shopping and was going to cook up dinner for the next few nights but by the time I got home and got both of the dogs walked I didn't have time for any cooking🤣. I am really looking forward to the day I can walk the dogs together! I did a distance agility class with Vannie this afternoon, we're getting quite good at it. I am too slow to keep up with her as she runs the course, she is so dang fast!
I am exhausted, I did 19,275 steps thus far today. I am now going to pass out on the couch, hope everyone had a great day!
These two still fight over the tiniest ball🤣
4 -
@vegan4lyfe2012 I love that photo of the 5 of you, so precious! Interesting I'm sure your friend was very inspiring, she sounds like a great person to hang out with for you! I tend to eat fast too. Enjoy the fireworks!
@megnolia82 Happy Canada Day and anniversary!
@AustinRuadhain Yikes I'm so glad you're okay, that sounds pretty scary! I like your plans for the week.
@laurelfit57 I hope the spin class goes well and you like the instructor. You sound like you're doing great! Those fudge bars look amazing! You got a lot done today! Your pups are too cute together!
@AmbersWay Oh no I hope you're starting to feel better when you read this! I love that no matter what is going on you haven't disappeared and you've been through some tough stuff since you've joined the group. Ugh going back to low carb after eating “normal” is a tough one, I hate those cravings. Great job portioning the carrot cake! What a beautiful pic of your pups!
@Cornanda Happy Tuesday!
@TeresaW2024 Love your advice to Jennifer I needed to hear that too! It's a tough week with the 4th, hope you avoided the ice cream at Aldi's! I've been eating dessert the last couple nights and froze half of it today.
@trooworld Yay I'm so glad the convention was better yesterday. Aw too cute on the pug! I hope you share pics of the meditation garden sounds very cool! Aw are these the same two that used to fight? I LOVE this! Hey you're the one who recommended The Women by Kristin Hannah right? I just started it and it's real familiar but just came out this year, feels like I read it a few years ago but had a publisher year as this year.
@bethanie0825 I'm so glad your surgery is behind you and you're healing well and back at work. I hope the wegovy goes well for you.
@txcritter69 I'm so sorry you're having a tough time, thank goodness he'll be back soon. I hope you got the exercise in it may cheer you up a bit.
@FushiaKat Great to see you! Happy Independence Day! Sounds like a fun way to watch fireworks, I've done that in Tahoe where we climbed a mountain to watch fireworks. I've been eating a lot of cherries too, it's hard not to eat a lot of fruit in summer! Hey cherries aren't here for that long enjoy them while you can (it's not ice cream right?).
@19shmoo69 Where is your daughter working? Yep your daughter is worth it, you never know, I vote for trusting instincts and being careful.
Hi team! Had my surgeon appointment this morning, he thinks I have another auto immune issue but I need a referral from my primary and couldn't get even a phone appt for 6 weeks. I wish I didn't have stuff where I had to keep dealing with the medical system but if it could help my pain issues I'll find a way. We're in the middle of a heat wave, it was 107 today and will be warmer tomorrow. I have my niece kitty here for the week, not looking forward to the 4th with three scared kitties! Have a great night and wonderful Wednesday.2 -
@19shmoo69 You are a good dad!
@laurelfit57 Those fudge bars look so good. I need to go to Costco! Vannie and Ty look like they are kissing, but really, they are in an epic tug-of-war with a tiny ball.
@Katmary71 That is so frustrating that you can even talk to your doctor for 6 weeks! In the meantime, are you able to manage your pain? Ugh the heat! I keep telling myself that this is summer, and it is what it is. One time, when I was a kid living in Bakersfield, I stayed the night with my cousin, and for some unknown reason, I didn’t have any shoes. The next day, we had to walk back to my house, which was several blocks away, and it was well over 100 degrees. We shared one pair of flip-flops and kept switching them on our feet. I guess my cousin didn’t own another pair of shoes so we could have our own.
Good morning! Not much going on here today. I will do a workout and do some housework, but that is it. I just saw on the news how many people will be traveling on July 4th, and I can’t think of doing anything worse.I’m home until church on Sunday, which works fine for me. I failed my 24-hour fast yesterday but plan to try again today. It’s OK to do hard things! Ya’ll have a good day.
