HOW IT ALL WORKS: The September challenge runs for four weeks, from September 1st - September 29th.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get September on the road!

Good morning, it seems today is another start of a month of encouraging each other towards our personal victories in the health, fitness and life goals. With all that said I guess I can start by introducing myself. @trooworld and @Katmary71 our FANTABULOUS TEAM CAPTAINS. (can you hear the theme music playing as I type their names?)
I am the motivator. I can honestly say I am not good at this position. I do what I can. This position and that of the captains require a great deal of typing and I am just terrible at typing and spelling for that matter.
Enough of the work talk. I have been battling weight issues all of my life. I did at one point join the Army. I did not pass basic training as I was slow runner. Fast forward to the present. My daughter in law is my encouragement coach. My life goal that is set before me is to pass the Army Physical Fitness Test I failed when I was 18. I could take the easy way out and pro-rate it to my age but that is not sufficient. I did not fail as an old man, so I am not going to pass it as an old man. I flunked the test as an 18-year-old so that is the test I have to pass.
At my heaviest I was over 312. I do not know my actual heaviest weight as I stopped weighing myself at 312. Fast forward a few years after that decision and I started eating better and exercising. Sometime during that I stepped on the scale at 307. In all reality who knows what I actually lost. Uniquely I was not an athlete in school. I did and still do like basketball. But my go to exercise is running. Well, I call it running others may call it walking.
Let me say something about the meal plan I literally will have to stick to for the rest of my life. I only eat meat. I try and speak very little about it on here as there are people that it may bother. There is a person whom I consider a friend on here (she is not the only person I consider a friend). Her username is @vegan4lyfe2012 as you can tell by her name, she is a vegan. We are opposites in a couple of ways. Dietary options are one and I will not dialog about it. However, she drinks tea instead of coffee and in that I will throw out some banter towards her.
Moving on, I will at times ask for prayer or even say that I have prayed for you or everybody. I am a Christian. If that part bothers, you then shrug it off and scroll past that request.
Other times as others on here do I will share a grandchild moment. To clarify I will use the term Mago. It is not his name, but it is Japanese for grandson. I chose to be called by Sofu which is Japanese for grandpa. Some of the new people may be thinking but I am not Japanese. It is a long story.
I can honestly say that this is a really super-duper awesome group of people that are the real motivators.
I will end this for now but remember to stay hydrated and moving even if just a little bit.
To all the coffee drinkers out there I lift my coffee cup. To all the tea drinkers out there I lift my coffee cup.
P. S. If you all could see the red lines, this laptop has me to go double check and correct you would know why I don't post a whole lot. LOL5 -

I just deleted my whole post, so I am starting over🙈
@katmary71 I am so happy for you and your cats that that roommate is gone! I'm sure you will sleep much easier once you have your locks re-keyed.
@Cornanda those pictures of Ty on the hill, were hilarious. She reminded me of a small rebellious child who was not going to do something you asked, even though it was easier. I asked her for a stand, but she was determined to do a down, and she held that down as she slid all the way to the bottom🤣. How old is Gus now, I still think of him as a little puppy. I have been out of touch, what happened to your hip?
@TeresaW2024 our BER months aren't too bad it is January and February that are usually the worst. So glad your weather is cooling down, I can't imagine living in heat all the time.
@trooworld wow! Don't you feel like when you sleep longer than you usually do, it's like a present :-) :-). I had a great sleep last night as well. It sounds like you had an absolutely lovely Sunday, please let me know how that orange chicken and broccoli turned out.
Today's pictures are from our picnic today :-). Vannie looks like such a pretty little lady (she was just groomed ) and Ty has the longest tongue of any dog I have ever had🤣
Her tongue doesn't normally stick out, just when we have been playing hard and she is panting

@19shmoo69 I really loved reading your intro that was awesome!
Hi everyone! I'm Kathy, I co-captain with the amazing @trooworld , @19shmoo69 is our wonderful motivator. I've been on this team since the start of 2019 and was the motivator until the start of this year when I became co-captain. This team has helped me keep my sanity through my pain condition returning and many other life adventures, I hope you find it a safe haven too. I'm currently trading administrative work for treatment and supplements with a functional medicine practitioner, we work out of a spa and out of a Ministry where she also teaches nutrition classes. I do part-time work filing claims for my brother, volunteer as secretary for a local charity and my HOA, and volunteer at the food bank farm/greenhouse a few days a week. I love gardening, reading, and metal concerts! I have CRPS and am still recovering from a back fusion revision/fusion, I do chair cardio, weights, and stretching most days.
I'm also in charge of logging everyone's weights each week. If you have any issues around weighing in or needing your day changed please let me know. I hope everyone will continue to weigh in if there's a bad week but if you're on vacation or in the hospital I get it and we can log your previous weight or excuse the week but please don't pass on weigh-ins too often.
Let's have a great September!2 -

Sorry. Forgot until now. Couple hours overdue.2 -
Good Morning! I am Lisa. I live in FL with my husband of 32 years and our two adult children are still here. We have a small dog named Gus. I have struggled with weight since young adulthood- lost good amounts and gained them back a couple of times. The struggle is real now at my "mature" age. It's hard to get the scale to budge. I've been in this group since about 2020, I think- love the support and friendship here. Shootouts to @trooworld @katmary71 and @19shmoo69 for keeping everything running for us.
@Katmary71 - I'm glad you told the roommate to go, yet you are aware that he may still give you some trouble. I will be glad when your locks are rekeyed.
@trooworld - Thank you for telling me what you are reading. I am loving Cloud Cuckoo Land.
@19shmoo69 - I raise my coffee cup to your long and funny post.
@laurelfit57 - Your pups are cute again today. Gus is 2 now. He seems calmer and doesn't lose his mind every time he gets excited about something. We were talking the other day about some things he used to do that he doesn't anymore- like sneak pieces of mulch into the house. I got bursitis in my hip- and I don't know what caused it.
My question today is- Has anyone tried Noom? I feel I've been stuck for a long time now. I need to shake up my routine, but am struggling to decide how.

Good morning Slims!
I'm Mica, one of the maintainiacs of the Mission Slimpossible team. At my heaviest, I was 220. I currently maintain in my goal range of 127-133 (center weight 130). I track my food as accurately as possible and I weigh myself every morning. Maintaining is hard work! I eat mostly vegetarian, lots of beans!
I'm 68, semi-retired, working 3 days a week as a bookkeeper at a plastics factory. I live with my boyfriend of 20 years, Rich. I got Rich working at Walmart 😄; he's still working there. I have a beautiful cat named Earl.

MY INTRODUCTION
Hi everyone. My name is Chris. I live in Southern California with my husband, cute one-eyed pirate pug named Daisy (8 yrs old) and pug pup name Violet who just turned 2 yrs old. Up until my mid-20s, I was a healthy weight but then the mid-20s hit and along with that came medications that made me gain weight as well as poor lifestyle choices. I am in the process of getting weight loss surgery, I'm just waiting for the surgery date. For exercise, I like to walk with my husband and friends, however I am limited by moderate/severe arthritis in the knees. I plan on starting water aerobics soon, this has been in the plans for a couple of weeks but schedule conflicts and most recently, sickness, has waylaid my plans. My husband and I love to cook, I've got 8,698 recipes saved but who's counting? LOL Seriously, I do and they are all organized, so if you need a recipe for ANYTHING, let me know! I've got everything from healthy foods to pet treats to recipes for cleaning supplies. I have about 85 lbs to lose. My hobbies: reading, making artwork and crafts, photography, and cooking. I do straight-up calorie counting of healthy foods with MFP Premium.
Now, it's your turn! Tell us about YOU!1 -
@19shmoo69 @maryirisfroehlich @865jessica @Jactop @lislisa123 Way to make it onto the leaderboard! Woo hoo! A special shoutout goes to those who stayed in the green the whole month: @lislisa123 @865jessica And shoutout to the whole team for achieving 3rd place for August! Woot woot!
@morenin Welcome back! Yay!!! How have you been?
@txcritter69 Congrats on the loss!
@19shmoo69 It's always nice to read more about you, my friend! More than a few sentences. Although I really understand why you don't post more.
@laurelfit57 Oh how frustrating to lose your whole post! Yes, it is a present when I sleep in. This morning, I slept in until 5 and I woke up and was still so tired. Maybe I did too much yesterday. I didn't end up making the orange chicken but here's the recipe: https://foodyschmoodyblog.com/fake-out-take-out-orange-chicken Oh my, Ty, your tongue is long! LOL Vannie is so beautiful. Great pics!
@Cornanda I know I have some form of that book. I will have to give it a go! I tried Noom. It was interesting. Lots of psychology behind it. I think it would work if you have the time to do what they ask. But you have to read stuff every day, and it takes like 20 mins to do the reading. I gave up on it but it may be right for you? Awwww! Gus is adorable!!!
Hi all. I worked most of the day deep cleaning our condo. We took 7 bags of clothing and shoes to the Goodwill. Most of those bags were mine. I may have more bags of shoes, I have to go through another area in my closet where I keep shoes. I don't know if the Goodwill is open today and I'm really worn out anyway. I didn't cook last night, no energy. Instead, we got a salad pack and a frozen pizza.

Good morning! I love reading opening posts from all our awesome members.
My name is Teresa, and I've been here for a long time. I was once even the leader of this wonderful group! I left the group for a long while when our life got complicated when my much older husband first had lung cancer and several other health issues that must be closely monitored. After many months, we had to admit that his chemo brain was more, and he was diagnosed with dementia. My Joe is my life and incredibly gentle, kind, and exasperating. Being a caregiver is the hardest thing I will probably ever do, and as a Christian, I pray for a strength that I know only God can provide.
We live with my mom, sister, and little dog, Maggie Mae. I work part-time for our small Baptist church as their secretary and am blessed that most of my work can be done from home. I've battled my weight since I was 13 and have done all the diets and even lost 80 lbs, but when Joe got sick, and I had some serious family issues, my stress was so high that I gained all the weight back. I came back to the Slimpossibles for the accountability and support.
About three months ago, I saw Jason Seib, who runs the Diligent Mind Self-Care program, and his words resonated with me so much that I jumped in with both feet and joined. I have been working on my mindset to stop the diet mentality and embrace the health mentality. Yeah, there is a difference. I'm not weighing at this time because I wanted to see what would happen if I didn't weigh, measure, track, or count anything. So far, I'm loving the freedom!
For workouts, I love weight lifting and rebounding (mini trampoline) and have my own workout room in my home. And my hobby is putting together jigsaw puzzles. Anything over 2000 pieces is my jam! I'm here to support you all, and so appreciate the support that you give me.

My question today is- Has anyone tried Noom? I feel I've been stuck for a long time now. I need to shake up my routine, but am struggling to decide how.
I have been a Noom subscriber, and it used to be helpful, but they cheaped down the support available. Instead of actual human coaches, you now go through the learning course provided with the machine "cheering" you on, instead of having someone to ask questions of. It's basically like reading a weight loss book with quizzes- only more expensive. They also got me into bad habits like weighing myself every day, which I am still trying to unlearn.2 -

Moving back in the right direction at least!
Had a great day yesterday with a visit to a war of 1812 Fort, then a hike down the Niagara gorge to the whirlpool a little downstream from
The falls. It was 300feet down some pretty steep steps, then back up again. I didn’t run yesterday but between the climb and the 9 hours we spent walking I think I did ok.
Enjoy Labour Day to everyone who is having a holiday today.5 -
Good morning,
Welcome to the newcomers and welcome back @morenin!
Intro:
I am Sandy, I live in Copperas Cove Tx. with my husband John Tigger (the cat) and Diesel (the dog). I have 2 children both married and have 5 grandsons.
I am currently trying to lose the weight I gained after I quit smoking back in 2013 due to having a heart attack and was told only 2 thing could have caused it. My smoking or the fact that it was hereditary on my dad's side. He passed away at the age of 57 from heart failure. The only thing I could do was quit. But now I still battle with the 25+ lbs I need to lose. My ideal weight is supposed to be 125ish but if I see 140 I think I would be happy. We will see. So as of right know my goal is 140.
I'm a retired correctional officer and I spend a lot of time with my fur baby Diesel. I spend my morning reading everyone's posts but lately I have not been chiming in, been pretty boring over here in my world.🤣
Diesel's training is coming along. He is still a mess, but getting better.
I did not reach my monthly goal last month so, it will be this month's goal I want to be below 165 by the end of Sept. I can do this.
I hope everyone enjoys the last little bit of the summer and is ready for some cooler weather.

@Cornanda it seems like just a couple of months ago that you were putting up Gus's puppy pictures. You give me hope that my pup will settle down! I broke ties have it as eating mulch, then they put some new mulch on my perennial bed. I took Ty out to the bathroom and lo and behold guess what she pooped out, the new mulch🤣. We had to start all over again. I'm so sorry about your hip! I really hope you get some relief soon. Gus is still as cute as ever, what a cute picture!
@ Do you think you are still tired because of the bug whatever it was that you had? That orange chicken looks delicious, thank you!
I made a serious error in judgement this morning. I thought that I would do 30 minutes of my shred video(strength training) before going to spin class. It wasn't pretty🤣. My quads just gave out. Lesson learned and I will rework my workout schedule.
It was a busy, super hot day here today, 93°, in September no less! The dogs walks wiped both them and me out. We honestly didn't go far. I have stayed on schedule and on track today. I did manage to track ahead of time, so I was able to get a much better picture of what I was doing. I upped my protein and my water :-).2
