Thanks @frankwbrown for the links, so far so good. I was happy to see your comments about Tai Chi. I am adding it in November but had never tried it before.2 -

Same weight 3 weeks in a row! Considering the I have really been slacking, I'm actually happy with this. However, time to get back to doing the basics, tracking, water, steps...4 -
My Wonderful Team:
The break that I took for the past few months from weigh-ins wasn't good to me...correction, I wasn't good to myself. Started cutting corners and eating out too much. Yesterday, I began the work of getting my head on straight, revisiting the scale, swallowing my pride and admitting that it's time to get back to work. For the past week, I've been making plans, cleaning bad things out of the house and working on my emotional self.
@pupowl Please add me back to the roster for the first week of November. My SW is 337.6 (added to the chart). I would like to do Monday weigh-ins. I'm working now on swelling issues for my left knee.
I won't apologize because I didn't wrong anyone else and I'm trying not to shame myself. I'm disappointed and I'm sure many of us have been there. All I can do is do the work and watch the numbers come down. I will say that many of you inspire me and I'm hoping to soak that up as I get "restarted" for the umpteenth time. Thank you for being a constant source of encouragement and support. Found the below picture on Google and it seemed fitting...here we go!

I find myself reading this quote frequently:
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
It has helped me take a breath and interrupt the doom loop I sometimes find myself in.
So does blasting Nina Simone’s Feeling Good 😊

That’s a great quote @p8m6bwghh9! Thanks for sharing it. I also liked the one @Cyncia85 posted.
I’ve been keeping up with everyone’s comments. I haven’t been very good about responding lately, but I appreciate the energy, encouragement, and support you all bring to the team. I’m on a very slow trajectory, moving toward my goal weight, and recognizing that my current daily calorie target is probably what I’ll need to maintain my goal — once I get there. I’d still like to add more protein and reduce my carbs and fat intake, but I’ll probably stick to my current activity level.
I’ll be spending two months in Boston so I’ll need to establish a regular workout routine there. It will be completely different than my current routine so I’m already trying to visualize it, even though it’s still about a month away!
So, I’ll need to remind myself to choose the “pain of discipline” over the “pain of regret!” 😊

Welcome back, @jessicakrall8!
Congratulations on facing your fears! You’re absolutely right that many of us have been there and it’s so true that we need to shutdown any tinges of shame as soon as possible. Shame is never a helpful emotion so this is an important part of moving forward.
After losing 43 pounds, and reaching my goal, I gained about half of the weight back. Let’s use our successful experiences - and what we’ve learned along the way - to continue improving our health. It’s not a short-term aim. It’s a lifelong endeavor — never too early and never too late!
You’ve interrupted the negative cycle and you’re shifting it to a positive one. Good for you!5 -

You've reminded me of a quote I saw recently. I don't remember where I saw it, and I couldn't remember
exactly how it went, but a search found this:
I'm also reminded of this song, "the Bird Song" by Victoria Vox, a young woman from whom I had ukulele lessons, at the California Coast Music Camp a number of years ago.

Victoria Vox is talented!— and funny, too. Thanks @frankwbrown!
Congratulations @izzyred9400, @angmarie28, and @Cyncia85 for making the leader board! 🎉5 -

Well, I've never weighed so much. I need to balance exercise/rest/getting things done because I haven't been overeating. Just love PCOS and whatever else is going on inside my body. Gaining over 10 pounds in two weeks is just odd. Hopefully, my doctor's visit in two weeks will shed some light on the problem.6 -

HI, sorry I have been MIA for all of September and most of Oct. I was checking in to keep up with all of you, just not very often. Welcome back @jessicakrall84 -
Sorry for missing week 3 weigh in, was on the road with no scale in sight and now back from vac.
Weight today is 148.8 lbs, so no real significant change. Zero steps recorded this past weekend since I was on the road driving and sitting all day.Ate out lots of times, sweets every night, counted no calories. Thankfully my hiking activity canceled out most of the food intake!
Back home today and diet starts right now. Watch is on my wrist and back to the routine!6 -
Hi All
I tend to stress eat - especially those sweet and salty snacks. Maybe get a pop (I'm from Chicagoland). I usually don't buy these things when I grocery shop. Well I ended up with them in the house - some were part of a gift bag, others I bought. I faltered this past week with these 'goodies' in the house.
I'm reminded of a tool I learned in therapy: TRAP and TRAC(K)
TRAP = Trigger. Response. Avoidance Pattern.
So for me I have my triggers. And the avoidance pattern in this example is eating the junk food. Mindless eating too.
Now, to get back on TRAC(K)
Trigger. Respond with Active Coping. What are the actions I can take to cope in a healthier/helpful way?4 -

@sunshinezombiegirl1 I'm sure that you didn't gain an actual 10 lbs in two weeks. Most likely sodium / carb / water weight. Of course that's easy for me to say to you, not so easy to say to myself. I bet the Dr will say something similar.2 -

@Cyncia85 I also drink pop. Well not really, gave it up a while ago, but still refuse to say soda. I like your TRAP and TRAC examples.3 -
Thanks @frankwbrown I had never heard her😃. Do you still play ukulele?
@Cyncia85 @DaffyGirl88 I grew up pop too. Worked as a waitress in my teens, someone ordered soda and gave me a weird look when I said OK and brought them a club soda 😂5 -
I’m from Boston and we used to refer to soft drinks as ‘tonic’ growing up. We moved around a lot while my father was a hockey player, so we confused many restaurant servers with our drink requests. They thought we wanted tonic water.
Later, when I was a waitress in high school, I had to explain the difference between a milk shake and a frappe, along with many other unique expressions. When my sons were very young, they used to tell people they could speak English, Spanish, Japanese — and Boston!3 -

@globalhiker You were listed as NWI, so just remember to weigh in on Saturday this week and all will be good.

Day 3 of "back-at-it" and so far so good...every day about 200-240 under my calorie limit...still dealing with swelling, but it's a little better today...less pain, just a little stiffness...trying to walk in small amounts inside to hit my goal each day...I'm so stubborn...

For me a frappe is an iced coffee drink I had in Crete4

@PatriceFitnessPal My husband was in the Navy so we moved around a lot also. He was on the USS Constitution so we had to learn to speak Boston also. LOL Our biggest problem was with sandwiches, subs, hoagies and grinders. WTH is a grinder?!?4

Wow! 🤩 My nephew loved to watch the annual turning of ‘Old Ironsides.’ It must have been interesting to work on the oldest ship in the Navy!2 -

I'm still struggling with hip pain. I'm not able to run right now, but I still went to the gym last night and just walked on the treadmill, in addition to walks with my boys. Luckily, walking doesn't bother my hip too much.

@p8m6bwghh9, I still have my ukulele but I haven't been playing it. I play the guitar instead. But after watching that video, I'm wanting to get my ukulele out! It's got a unique sound that a guitar can't replicate.
Playing guitar and ukulele is not like playing two instruments, like piano and guitar, or even violin and mandolin. A ukulele is essentially a small four-stringed guitar with slightly higher tuning. All the chord shapes on the bottom four strings of a guitar work on a ukulele. You just have to remember the resulting chord is a fourth higher in pitch: an E becomes an A, an A becomes a D, a D becomes a G, a G becomes a C, a C becomes an F, an F becomes a B♭/A#, etc.
