Checking in better late than never to say that sounds mighty positive all things considered mrs Yooly....keeping everything crossed for you!

Thanks Bella! I’m hoping it all works out well. I’ve got traveling to do!2

Banana cream pie is a hard no. Threw it away after a bite. It tasted like the circus peanuts candy. So gross. Ate a key lime pie instead.3

Circus peanuts candy: I'm sure there is a story lurking here somewhere!!!!🤔0

I've actually had three good days in a row, for the first time since about 1977 (or at least that's how it feels)...the fear of another bout of heartburn is keeping me on the straight and narrow.2

Bella - is the heartburn related to a particular food? Obviously the straight and narrow is worth the effort to avoid the discomfort.0 -

Pastry of any kind is the worse culprit (so no mince pies for me this year!) but it also came on last weekend with a vengeance after I had some biscuits covered with not very good quality chocolate... I had about 4 a day for 4 days in a row and this it was enough to cause some major discomfort that's only just now subsiding. But red wine also seems to set it off...and peanuts...and rich/fried/fatty/creamy foods like mayonnaise. I seem to be fine with spicy food, onions, citrus fruit and tomatoes, which are big triggers for lots of folks...but pastry, chocolate, wine and french fries seem to be off the menu for me this Christmas...

...And as Kim can't drink much and has to avoid lots of different foods because of his medicine-induced gout it seems we need to think of other ways than food/drink to get in the festive spirit this year....which I guess is no bad thing.3

Exactky right, @Yoolypr. So gross.
I just spent most of the third day in a row doing deep cleaning: vacuuming, mopping, bathrooms (2 plus a half bath), baseboards, walls, etc ahead of having all my out if home kids and my parents here. There will be 8 people in the house, easier if it's clean first, heh.3 -
what is this clean we are discussing? I did vacuum up more than a small dog though earlier today! At least that's the evidence that came out of the vacuum canister!2
-
Bella you will probably come up ahead if you do that!
Here in the world of no limits! we're experimenting with the Creamie--and freezing my little paws off!
So far I've come up with a COUPLE of "pints" that are at around 200 Cal each!
Today's experiment for future eating is Silk "festive" nog with a bit of silk zero sugar vanilla almond milk added in. One pint got 10g of gold rum. The other pint got 5g of cocoa powder and a drop of sucralose. These two are coming in at under 200 Cal too.
Today's eating pint was 150g frozen cherries, 53g fudgesicle, 3g of cocoa and about 150g silk zero sugar vanilla almond milk... just about 210 Cal.4 -
Surgery this morning. OW!🤕3
-
Yooly - Are you out and functioning already? My goodness!
Hope all went smoothly.1 -
Yup - it was outpatient surgery so I am home. Partial mastectomy. I’m not feeling too bad. Waiting on the pathology report is nerve wracking though. I’ll know in a few days if the future is more surgery or radiation.
In the meantime there are Christmas cookies to be baked!3 -
Just came over to see how it went! Happy to hear you're home and functioning! 2/2 surgery peops at home and (semi)functional! Yeah! 😎1
-
In other news.... not sure if anyone needs to see pictures of the size of problem that is brewing at my place! 🤯🤷♂️2
-
Fingers crossed for you, Yooly. I didn't like wearing those shoes. I hope this is a one and done for you.
I want to see pictures, PAV!
Today, I might just be back. Weighed myself (a bit better than I thought - but I did think the worst), tracked breakfast. Am really ready to get my life back in order. From my current vantage point, the worst part of 5 surgeries over 2 years is the weight gain that happened (lol - like I had no control ) along the way.
I'm ready to be a lighter me again. Before some part of my body gives up carrying this extra weight.
I think I missed something, PAV. You are home from surgery also? I am going to go visit other threads now...
Good to read from you, Bella!
NIC - you are such an inspiration. Thank you for being here.1 -
Glad the day surgery went ok Yooly!0
-
Thanks Bella and Laurie! I feel well and am hoping for good pathology reports soon.
Awaiting PAVs disaster photos- curiosity is killing me.
Now that you’re back to your first home Laurie perhaps life will be a bit less stressful? Time to think and plan better eating? I know I too am fighting the impulse to just eat the wallpaper. But my weight is up enough to make some clothes a bit less comfortable than last year. I’m determined to not let medical problems be exacerbated by weight gain. No point being unhappy on two fronts! I have some control over what I eat.2 -
Yes, Yooly. Stick to your guns. Much better than to go hunting for them later0

Finished baking the last of the cookies. Just need to get the previously made/frozen cookies out, plate up and ready to go. Haven’t sampled any - May have licked my fingers a time or two……
I need a nap 😴2 -
Well thank you for these visuals, Yooly2

Yeah - I know but I was proud of myself for getting it done. Not very helpful though.
I did have to try one of the little round ones - peanut butter cookie with a Reese’s peanut butter cup buried inside. ‘‘Twas divine! Unnecessary but divine.2 -
I would've definitely sampled 1 of each minimum!! They look great and job well done to you2
-
First of all:
these look *KITTENING* AWESOME!
I mean seriously: the whole set-up! WOW!
And second:
Are you kidding me?
You had ONE?
Who ARE you IRON LADY?

Pathology report came in. Clean margins, 1cm tumor, no lymph node involved. So if you gotta have cancer it’s the best surgical outcome. I will have to do a round of preventative radiation after the holidays. But it’s really great news after a very stressful month.
Taking a deep breath and making travel plans for spring!6 -
Yay, that's the best news Yooly! So glad it's not a really evil cancer!2
-
What a relief Yooly! Nice Christmas news. Sorry you have to go through all this.
I've had a lovely weekend with my daughter and my son's children - we took them to a hockey game (AHL) on Friday night. Her company shares ownership of a box suite, and the kids love it! My son took them to a game last Spring and they were not all that engaged, hadn't thought about how hockey game = box suite to them lol.
Then Saturday afternoon we went to a Pantomime - my parents used to take my two every year, so keeping up the tradition. The younger one (boy, 8) got very into it as the play went on, booing & cheering & so forth. Perfect show to go to with a loud boy.
Sunday will be hanging with my daughter, sleeping in & bingeing Xmas movies with a big bowl of popcorn, a visit to the hot tub followed by at home paraffin wax foot treatments, with dinner ordered in. So relaxing before the hustle of the next few days!3 -
Sounds like BC is having a lovely Christmas!🎅🏻. And thanks Bella - I am definitely more hopeful.
Today the last of the cookies will be delivered. There was a lot of comfort in being able to accomplish this yearly tradition.
There are plenty of leftover cookies in the freezer for hubby and son. Maybe me too? Haven’t needed to sample because friends keep dropping off awesome get well food! All in all not a bad holiday so far.1
