Z - Zizania latifolia, commonly known as wild rice or water oats, is an aquatic grass species that produces edible grains. It is native to North America and is highly valued for its nutty flavor and chewy texture.

Wild rice is often used as an ingredient in soups, salads, stuffing, and side dishes. Despite its name, wild rice is not a true rice but a close relative.

It is nutrient-dense and a good source of protein, fiber, and various minerals. Harvesting wild rice involves gathering the mature grains from the stalks and then processing and cooking them before consumption. (Google)

    B - Broccoflower

If broccolini is the combination of regular broccoli and Chinese broccoli, broccoflower is a cross between broccoli and cauliflower. It has the same nutrition profile of broccoli and the mild delicate flavor of cauliflower. Best of both worlds!

Q - Queen Anne’s Lace is a wildflower that is also edible. The young roots can be eaten raw or cooked, and the flowers can be used as a garnish or in salads.

In all my years of life admiring Queen Anne's Lace growing in the fields, I had no idea that they were edible. I thought they were poisonous. We had some beautiful black, white and yellow circular stripped caterpillars that really liked to eat them. We would find them on our carrot tops also which makes sense because another name for Queen Anne's Lace is the wild carrot.

    X - Xoconostle

Xoconostle are sour prickly pears. On their own, they add a delightful sour note to stews and salsas and are essential for the classic dish, Mole de Olla. Our partners in Mexico, Xoxoc, take these fruit and dry them and sweeten them slightly. Google

Z - Zhe Fruit has lots of names, including che fruit, Mandarin melon berry, and cudrang.
It looks a bit like a raspberry, but the individual segments are less rounded and more geometrical.
My niece says it looks like a tiny brain growing on a tree, which isn’t all that appetizing unless you’re a zombie, of course. (Google)
