Happy Birthday, Ellie @strong_fit_ells!! Enjoy your time celebrating!
I shoveled for a total of 90 minutes today. Wow...is that an exercise! The only problem is my shoulder decently hurts...so I hope I didn't hurt it too bad and it recovers quickly. It is 36F today, and the street has melted, which is a good thing, because it was a sheet of ice this morning!
I have definitely enjoyed being inside today as well and am almost done with a puzzle that I got for Christmas.
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!4 -

Jan 11 exercise:
6635 steps
Met my goal of a stronger week 2 than week 1, and that was after being away from the bike for three of the days that week!
Today we are watching the Bills game at a local pub, using some of our tasting credits at a winery we're members at, and then we fly home tonight. It was a great weekend getaway!3 -

Happy belated birthday @strong_fit_ells!! 🎉
@micki48 - I agree with Ashley; that on this very tiring days, it’s good to think about small things you can do to move. I also like to make sure I get my workouts done before work; if I don’t, I will be too exhausted. I had to adjust my sleeping schedule so I go to bed earlier than I used to, but it works for me and it’s helped me be very consistent with getting my movement in. I also find that when I workout in the morning, I generally feel more energetic and in an overall better mood than on days I don’t.3 -
Steps for the week were down because of the new addition - he's too little and unvaxxed to go for public walks, and can't be left alone, plus he gets me up at 5am haha

S - 5407 - forgot to wear my watch but deep cleaned the whole house, plus 45 minute swim.4 -
Well, Murf is not only adorable, he's making me change for the better. Since he came into our home, I've been getting up crazy early (usually around 5:30-6am because he's done sleeping and needs play and supervision. I've been so productive in this time, cleaning, food prepping, making bread, and now I've started doing 10-15 minute yoga morning sessions, and I can't believe how good I feel after. I'm going to build up to longer sessions, though I need to time it to when he's having his 7am nap, because yoga with a puppy who is super excited that you're on the floor isn't very relaxing! (super cute, though...)5

That is awesome! Way to make use of your extra hours and getting meal prep and yoga in! Hopefully you are able to go to sleep a little earlier so you are getting the sleep you need1 -
Happy Monday all! @strong_fit_ells - happy belated birthday!
@lauren_989 - great job on the 90 minutes of shoveling! That is definitely a workout! I'm glad your shoulder is feeling better! I hurt mine, too on Thursday when I fell doing a box jump But, a muscle relaxer and a good night of sleep on Friday seemed to do wonders for it.
@Alatariel75 - Puppies can be the best at getting us up earlier and getting things done. I'm glad you're able to take advantage of the awesome puppy powers!
@ashleycarole86 - Thursday, January 9 - 11,632 steps, 45 minutes of jogging/walking, 1 hour of CrossFit
Friday, January 10 - 8,636 steps, 1 hour of spin class, 1 hour of CrossFit
Saturday, January 11 - 9,657 steps, 2 hours of pickleball
Sunday, January 12 - 8,621 steps, 2 hours of pickleball
I am going to join a core challenge with the CrossFit gym that starts this Wednesday. It's a 30 day challenge with a different core workout every day. I'm not sure I'm completely ready for it, but I am going to dive in anyway.4 -

It was crazy slow at work, I snacked more than I should have. My plan is to make healthier snacks for this week. I made blueberry muffins with a Weight Watcher recipe and boiled some eggs. My sister bought me some cross country skis, so I have just been practicing in the yard. I am pretty sore. It is definitely a work out. I hope everyone has a good week.3 -
@strong_fit_ells Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day
@lauren_989 Bummer about the shoulder even if it was good exercise 😕 Fingers crossed it recovers soon
@ashleycarole86 Sounds like a great get away for you guys. Hope you feel recharged.
@micki48 I can relate to being tired after work. My husband teaches 1st grade and I spend most of my time with special needs elementary students. We are tired most days. Teaching is mentally, emotionally and physically challenging. You probably get a lot of NEAT movement in at work. Walking students up and down halls, going to the copier, walking around the classroom, bending down next to students, spending 20 minutes craming kids into snowsuit for a 10 minute recess, walking to the staff room and taking kids out to buses. I'm going to guess you don't spend much time at your desk during the day. I have definitely started thinking about traditional exercise differently. My husband and I try to just go for a walk here and there. You probably get in a lot of NEAT activities at home with your husband being injured. All of these things add up. Maybe look at how much time during the day you spend doing things vs. How much time you sit. I would guess you are more active than you realize.
I waited until the end of the day to track my food and I was 200 calories over. I can't do that and need to log first, then eat!2 -
Morning all!
We had a busy day yesterday - worked from home, two of our pets to the vet, our dog getting groomed.. and some stressful happenings.
All that to say, we barely moved yesterday!
Today we work from the office so our steps will be up and the plan will be to ride the Peloton after work. Have a good day!3 -
@micki48 - give yourself some grace. I try when I'm too tired to just break things down in smaller tasks, perhaps I can't get to the laundry, but I'll put in one load and get to the others another day. That way I feel like I made some progress. Also, if you need help it's ok to ask for it.
@strong_fit_ells - Happy Birthday!!
@lauren_989 - you must have had alot of snow - or have a large yard to shovel. Great job getting it done.
@Alatariel75 - I am one that gets up early too. Find I have time to myself and get a good start to the day and a feeling of accomplishment. Although I'm in bed early too.

Slight increase but I know I'm making progress. I've cut down with alcohol which has helped- not doing dry January but only making exceptions for social occasions. Was up early to get a quick workout in and get the dog walked before heading out the door and have plans to go skating with the family this evening and take advantage of our warm weather.
Have a great Tuesday3 -
@strong_fit_ells happy birthday!!
@lauren_989 I hope the shoulder is feeling better, a while back I had a session with a PT who pushed a little too hard, too fast and I couldn’t move my arms for days. Made for ‘interesting’ bathroom times, ahem.
@MaddawgMadsen I look forward to hearing about your core challenge! Core is my weakness, it’s one of those “it’s so weak, I don’t know how to strat getting it strong” things. I’d love to know what sort of things they have you doing!
@Heathere244 cross country skiing looks so fun! I’d love to give it a try one day. I imagine it’s hard work!
@cleaneater80 cutting down alcohol was a huge help to me, honestly. I was drinking too much and it was making me lazy on top of being too many calories! I haven’t quit, but I limit it to ‘occasions’ and not just ‘coz I feel like it’.
Up early again today, got the vet OK to take Murf for walks around the local area, so that will be fun! It won't be exercise for me, just training and engagement for him, but he will love the change of scenery!

Eek! Rough week for me eating wise. I need to stop snacking and getting food from the break room. I have been exercising and walking...but I can't outrun a bad diet!4 -

OK, I thought this week was going to be a bit of a bust because I haven't been getting my walks in due to puppy, but the longer days, and the daily swims plus it being hot so meat and salad weather seems to have done the trick! I also think I was still carrying a LOT of bloating from the holiday period, I could feel it in my fingers, and the way my rings fit.2 -
Sun Jan 12 - 16124 steps
Mon Jan 13 - 2853 steps
Got our Peloton ride in tonight after a long day of work. First time in a week - we did other exercise but with us being away from the bike for four days it was nice to have it back to use! I took a ton of steps today too so it helped offset my low day yesterday!3 -
Happy Wednesday, things have been good over here, nothing interesting. Food has been okay, my lack of preparation this week is showing. My husband is back in WV after a month of being home, so I'm just not back into the swing of that, so my dinners have been ehhhh.
I did get my bike out of the spare room closet, and put it in the living room, so I did 5 minutes on Monday, and 7 minutes last night, tonight I will do 10, and so on. I am keeping up with my down dog challenge, that is going well.
Okay back to work.
Have a nice day !3 -
Jan 14 exercise:
32 minutes Peloton + 12729 steps
Brad and I got on the bike last night as planned. Woo hoo. Looking to do the same tonight!4 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy it's hard readjusting when you've had him home for a month! I'm curious about your down dog challenge (sorry if you described it earlier!), what does that entail?
@ashleycarole86 woohoo to Peleton consistency!! It's so good that you and Brad are on board together!
I'm sore today, I was walking across the park on my way back from the shop yesterday and got distracted by a really cool bird (yes, really), stepped in a hole and fell over like a dork. Scraped knees and palms, and bruised pride! Then I went to taekwondo, and got thrown onto the mat a few times, because why not haha. I had a nasty leg cramp in the middle of the night, despite taking magnesium, so this morning's yoga will be GENTLE!
Little brat pup got me up at 5:20am, and is sound asleep now 30 minutes later, while I'm now wide awake.
LOL, I just realised I had an MFP dream last night, I was browsing the community looking for the discussion where someone was arguing that you couldn't drink anything while intermittent fasting and I'd been conversing with them couldn't find it, then realised I dreamed it.2 -

Thanks for the reminder @conleywoods You and your husband know exactly what it’s like. I wish I could make myself get up early to do it before work but that is never going to happen. I do enjoy exercising first thing in he morning but now that I’m working there is no time for that. I generally get over 7,000 steps mostly from school. Thanks for the reminder about the NEAT calories. Thanks also @cleaneater80. That’s about all I can manage these days. Grace it is. I want to be a bear 🐻 and just hibernate and come out skinny in the spring. 😂 💐
I’ve been lax logging this week. Step it up Michele.3
