Given what you were doing marmalade was definitely a bunny... and double yump for joy!

Yep, marmalade definitely counts on a post-breast-cancer-mammography day. Woohoo, post cancer!

    Awww....thank you all.

Doing better today! two clementines and greek yoghurt with almonds and 3 small dates for breakfast. NO marmalade. With any luck there will not be any marmalade for awhile I could say "with any discipline" but that is even scarcer than bunnies :)

Marmalade has to be one of the cutest of bunnies though!
So glad you got through this PTSD test episode and feeling better already. Very tough mentally. But we know you're tough - and resilient! ❤️

Starting off the year on the right foot, eating tamed back down into submission (but still a few leftover indulgences I'm fitting in - very few though, I have mostly purged!), and daily activity reinstated.
Must remove the decor though still - next week!

I babysat 4 days last week, full days since school on break and hosted family gathering on the 1st, so I am pooped!
Both my grandchildren (love them dearly and mostly love having them to myself lol) are challenging behaviour-wise, girl has ADHD and anxiety, boy is mildly autistic and incredibly bright - Covid isolation did neither of them any favour...my son (their dad) has ADHD, and their mother suffers from anxiety but copes well, poor girlie got both - no idea where the autism comes from! The incredibly bright comes through my son 😆😇🥰

Off to my daughter's shortly for a night or 2, babysit after school on Monday too but that'll be a piece of cake comparatively (figuratively lol).

Hello everyone and salutations from Sunny Athens!!

Happy New Year! Hope everyone is doing well, and Yooly so glad to hear of the good post-op news!!

Ehm...did a lot of eating over the holidays, so I think January is diet month for me. :D
Actually looking forward for the challenge ahead, it's been a while since I went full science mode... :p

Went for a little hike over to Piraeus today, thought I might share a couple of pics. The weather has been surprisingly mild so far, and I am really happy for it too.. B)

You’re looking good Dante! Welcome back. I hope you’ll find time to post too.

Beautiful photos of beautiful Greece. I’ve never been there but those pictures do inspire me to begin checking travel options. Hopefully I’ll be cleared to travel in a few months. Hubby is getting a pacemaker next month. Between the two of us visiting Greece is going to wait for a while.

Aww… Thank you BCLady Bug ❤️ I love reading about you and your grandchildren. How wonderful to have such a close relationship with them. I think my heart might just burst if I had three 🤣

Ah thanks man. Sort of. I have a normal daypack that I use for pretty much everything (long walks, groceries, packing, hiking etc).

Conveniently enough, this has a separate flat compartment at the back for a large water bladder. I use said compartment to carry a 12kg ruck plate, something like this. Fits like a glove.

It is fun to carry around when going out for a walk, since you can get a little more exercise done at the same time. The weight is perfectly distributed this way (the pack helps with that if you set it up properly on you), and you really get accustomed to the extra weight pretty fast. :)

Cough cough errr.... just remember to have both hands free especially if scrambling across the street with a not 1000% perfectly fitted 50lb weighted vest which has surprisingly since been relegated to holding down a tarp!

Amazon did refund the money a few months after I bought it because the bottom strap broke the first week after I got it and they were unable to replace the unit. But I haven't experimented with weighted stuff since then, especially since the landing did involve some skin and a few drops of blood🤷‍♂️

But that pack looks very "quality" to me! It could be the guy wearing it too!🤪

My goodness Yooly, that doesn't look much different than my weather (and Pav's), just less sun 😅

We have had very few nights go below freezing this year, many seasonal plants, especially in sheltered locations, are still struggling along.

Yup, really thick fog around all day yesterday, seems to have lifted up now. Nice to see the sky!

January is our most wintery month, it can persist until March but most years over by mid to late Feb - when we had the Olympics here in 2010 the cherry trees were in blossom and they had to truck in snow...🙄

Just turned off tracking. Thanks for the heads up PAV. Although honestly is any site or app remotely secure?

    No :disappointed:

And every time you turn off tracking watch how the "helpful" apps fully respect your choice by taking every single possible opportunity to turn it back on for your convenience or to tell you about everything that will not work with tracking turned off... but it is 1000% absolutely your totally respected choice.... oh yes, for real, pinky finger.

On my way to see the retinal/Cataract surgeon.

All triggery again. This time I’m on the bus so I won’t be all weepy 😜

Not sure I want anyone poking in my eye again. just the idea of an examination By a stranger feels pretty yucky . Alas with any luck cataract surgery will improve the vision in that eye And I will know what My “final” vision Will be.

It’s been a year and a half since the dettached retina. I think it’s as healed as it’s going to be.

I ate a decent bowl of yoghurt with Dates and almonds Before I left … So I will hopefully have some control if I stop at a coffee shop afterwards. I’m not sure how well I will see for an hour or so because of the drops so I’ll hunker down before I get on the bus.

    I’m allowed a treat.

    One.

    😁

    🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

All went good … I had a Very reasonable tea and bran muffin afterwards.

I was very relieved to find out that the worsening vision in my good eye (Corrected to 20/80!) is not the retina but a second very fast growing cataract.

I had my eyes checked in June there was no sign of a cataract in that eye then.

I knew that the surgery to correct the detached retina was going to trigger a fast growing cataract - I guess the other eye was jealous 😜

The surgeon expects to improve the vision in the detached retina but he’s not sure to what degree. My fingers will be crossed from now until then 😁

His name is Dr. Fava. As a vegetarian I really appreciate that name 😁

You had me running scared there reading. Good to hear that you have middling good news on the eye front. And that you survived the aftermath too!

I have had a good friend going through doing BOTH eyes within a month's time because of fast growing cataracts... and she's 7 years younger! She actually had one scheduled for mid December and one for late January and they moved her January one to mid November because things were progressing so fast. All good in terms of results!

Interesting, last Spring when I went for an eye exam and new glasses, the optometrist referred me to an ophthalmologist as he saw signs of cataract. My impression was early stages, maybe something to be monitored. That referral happened end of October and to my surprise she took one quick look and announced I had cataracts in both eyes, and need surgery...I was so shocked. I'm waiting for the dates, they do them 6 weeks apart, probably Feb & March for me.

I am still surprised as I don't think my vision is cloudy or hazy, maybe a bit when night driving, but perhaps afterwards I'll be like, oh my! 😅

I have had eye operations in both eyes to correct double vision, which has mostly worked, but maybe that's why both eyes are now afflicted with cataracts. I am so grateful for my eyesight, having something wrong with it sure drives home how very important it is.

Laurie, you did marvelous with tea and a muffin afterwards, go you!

That is pretty darn young for cataracts. Glad it has gone well for her! Thank you for sharing. You gotta love success stories.
Was speaking with my ex husband last night - we married quite young and for a couple of decades - fortunately still "family" in a good way. His vision was always horrible. Couldn't be correct to better than 20/40 - 20/60. He describes his cataract surgeries last years a miraculous. For the first time in his life he has decent vision.

And you, BC LadyBug. Strange. Suddenly cataracts are growing fast! I remember my mom having to wait for years before they advanced to the surgery stage. I wonder about the surgery causing the cataracts? For my left eye that is the case. My son had a cataract in his early twenties brought on by a severe eye injury. Any which way, I'm glad your surgery is coming soon! We can both celebrate our brilliant vision this summer :)

Where is our Yooly???? I imagine you have cataract stories to share?????

No winter tires here! And the city treats the roads with sand or brine solution. No snow plows. Have never even seen a snow shovel for sale at Home Depot or elsewhere.
It’s barely an inch of snow but lots of slick spots. We’ll go slow- it’s less than ten miles.
Temps will be nearly 70 by Sunday so it’s all good 👍.
