PAV - yes - multiple times - so far received the "it will get better" over and over. Going today again at 1:50. I don't think it is an infection - I think it is inflammation and I needed the steroid drops a bit longer than 4 weeks because problems started the week after I stopped the drops. But, like you, I'm not a doctor.

Makes me a bit crazy when they leave you hanging trying to do the doctor figuring. It happens so often that I'm not surprised anymore. But still. 🤨 I'm 7 1/2 weeks post surgery now. First 4 weeks were amazing - then things started to go south. I've waited long enough for it to "get better."

A good haul of bunnies today - a huge tuna salad for dinner with red cabbage, carrot, red/yellow/orange pepper, cucumber, spring onion, capers, tomatoes and beetroot…and a fruit salad with apple, raspberrries and strawberries for dessert.

Young lady? that WAS a Booja… cause I don't see no intact boojas in that picture! The slaughter of the boojas appears complete! Initial eval is that it would require some stretch hamstering to become a bunny! Let's call it a non bunny for now! 😜

(had 26.2g of kinder cocoa eggs while investigating the suitability of boojas for bunny credits!)

I'm impressed with the purity of your thoughts! How did it go with the "people processing mill" you were scheduled to visit at 13:50?

Going to try and find the “Laughing Cow” …. Tried one once -but was years and years ago … low cals but meh!
Maybe I can find LC Jalapino here in UK, or something lower calorie than my Wensleydales ..with their wicked tempting cranberries / apricots or a new one I found with mango and ginger …. Mmm 😬

You might have to allow some time to pass between the Wensleydales and the LC, Creamtea or you will probably be sorely disappointed. LC feels like an immense treasure to me because it came from out of the blue and replaced eating … nothing :( No wonder it is so so so delicious :)

"How did it go with the "people processing mill" you were scheduled to visit at 13:50?"

I left in tears. The surgeon yelled at me as he left the examination room and I followed him down the hall yelling my praises for his fine surgical skills and the vision he restored.

It felt terrible. It turned into an ego driven battle. I think he is an extraordinary surgeon. The vision I have in that eye is light years beyond what I had hoped. And very much better than anyone I've spoken to who has had a retinal detachment. I've told him that more times than I can count - and I'm not kidding - I have been over the moon about the surgery.

But my eye is not happy. And even if he says all is okay - my eye is still unhappy. People have asked me "what's wrong with your eye" because it is dark-looking, half closed and leaky (just tears but wet and runny).

Five people close to me, and many I speak with online have had this surgery and not had this situation come up.

I certainly don't think it has anything to do with the surgery per se, nor the surgeon or his ability - but that doesn't mean that there isn't something going on with my eye! And unfortunately his focus is strictly on the idea that he thinks I'm insulting his ability.

He asked me what he needed to do to make me happy. I couldn't answer. By that time I was in the lobby, standing incredulous and somewhat in shock in front of many people, in tears. I'm not an opthamologist or cataract surgeon - I have no idea what is going on or what should be done. That is kinda why I went back to him yesterday. Everything inside my eye looks good. But not so much outside and my vision has dropped from slightly better than 20/20 to 20/60 in the past 3 weeks.

In hindsight I wish I had answered something along the lines of - I would like you to acknowledge the something is happening with my eye and to help it get better - or if there is nothing that can be done - tell me what is happening and why there is nothing to do but wait.

I think I am reacting to stopping the steroid drops cold turkey. This all started 2 or 3 days after that and has just become worse in the 3 weeks since. I asked him if it could be a reaction to stopping the drops - that maybe I need to continue them a bit longer and he didn't/couldn't hear me. He just said my eye had been through surgery and lots of medications and needed time to heal. I get that - but it has been 7 weeks and things are going downhill - after a fantastic recovery and fantastic vision and comfort at the four week mark.

A mystery still to be solved.

Unfortunately I think I will need a new surgeon for the second eye. That relationship/trust is over.

So sorry about your awful doctors appointment! No matter how great he is as a surgeon, obviously he isn’t great at listening or empathy. There is something wrong and the doctor should be working on helping rather than making you feel terrible. NO doctor is that awesome!
Find someone else right away before it gets worse and unfixable.

Thank you, Yooly. It was so very unpleasant. Thank goodness it is behind me now. I have lined up another surgeon to see on May 15th. She is a very well rated young surgeon (especially young looking - but not really so young in years :) ) She replaced my long time opthalmologist in Toronto when he retired. But I was hoping to go to someone a bit closer.
I do not mind travelling now :)
I'm sorry my previous surgeon was having a bad day. But. That was enough for me.
After all this - I feel I need to postpone my second surgery for awhile anyway. Let this eye fully heal and get myself and my long-eared companion home from Newfoundland before taking on any new surgical adventures.
I appreciate you for bringing me a dose of Yooly wisdom - I know you are having your own battles at the moment.

Laurie you might be able to follow up with your GP?

WRITE down the facts on a cue card so you don't have to do it in conversation 😊

    1/1 surgery

    3/1 success eye 20/20

    15/1 steroids discontinued

    19/1 eye red and droopy

23/1 eye evaluated at 20/60 and walking around with eye half shut

23/1 surgeon reports that surgery successful but did not address redness and drooping

And hand it to the gp for advice on what to do next as red and droopy doesn't seem right.

Possibly the gp could ASK the other surgeon via fax to expand your appointment to include a second opinion exam of the recovery status of the first eye if that is not already planned (which I would think it would be)

Ugh. Effing bods with egos. And appearing to not listen to people because they don't have time and they do have preconceived notions 😡

No no no - that is not having a bad day. He’s a total *kitten*! Move on ❤️

Yep, I agree with the others - this bod behaviour is totally unacceptable. What a god complex! And the emotional intelligence and empathy of a sociopath. Insist on a timely second opinion, even if you have to travel further than you'd like to get it…

Let's put up some bunnies for discussion!

About 200g of green giant cauli + vegies rice and 200g of stick carrots plus 75g of fresh / green onions would make: about 5.5 bunnies!!!!

Lots of bunnies here…peppers, carrots, courgette, cherry tomatoes, beets, red onions (all roasted in the air fryer) and then apple, strawberries, raspberries and watermelon.

@Creamtea42 I used to have an MFP friend from your neck of the woods who used to log "low fat" creme fraiche products all the time and seemed to think that they were the cat's meow.

Is that a possible alternative to laughing cow for you?

Also I seem to remember some tiny little square cubes of cream cheese from France that you would have to spend an hour unwrapping…. something like these maybe? https://www.ribambel.com/apericube

Actually EXACTLY these… I think they were made by Kiri at the time? Or they were NEAR the kiri?

And good night to our Bella! Well done on the bunnies! Plus all the fruit bunnies too!

@PAV8888 - Apericube - they look cute! And if take time to unwrap - well … hopefully gobble less?

Don’t tend to do the low fat dairy - specially yogs and creme fraiche - something about the texture I can’t cope with - makes me retch!

@lauriekallis -I agree with everyone too - what a git! Glad you are seeing another bod.

Loads of bunnies here today too - nice weather bringing them out! Large Medveggies with a dollop of olive oil!

Great idea - structure and language, PAV.
I'm seeing second surgeon in 11 days. Will prepare myself. Don't really expect GP to help to be honest - she is very good with sending things to specialists.

For better or worse I started steroid drops again yesterday. Half dosage. Thinking I can carry on at this rate for a week or so - then taper down. What a difference. Eye is no longer red, no longer uncomfortable, eyelid is lifting :)

There is a risk of these drops causing increased intraocular pressure - but from past experience that takes a few weeks to develop and can be treated with another type of eyedrops. So I should be able to catch that if necessary when seeing the new surgeon.

In all the chaos, "god complex" surgeon - :) I like that, Bella - did begrudgingly admit that posterior capsule opacification (PCO) / a secondary cataract was developing - that is easy enough to treat with a few seconds of laser and very common I believe. It explains the 20-60 vision,

I can't wait to have all this behind me!!! I'm tired of not being able to see properly and of being "visually confused" all the time. It takes up a lot of my attention/focus.

A huge bowl of salad for lunch was the limit of the bunnies today. We had homemade pizza for dinner so it didn't leave any calories for fruity snacks.

    Yeah.

But it pisses me off (obviously due to personal issues) when they don't appear to even listen and refuse to address what you directly ask.

I asked twenty times: if my blood pressure is normal why blood pressure medication? Answer was simple BUT never given: because our guidelines say we will keep giving you meds till you start to continuously fall down on your head (or are threatening to punch us in the face if we don't reduce and even then we will try to convince you to just hold), or your systolic (high) number hits as low as 85, and you can forget about what you thought off as normal in the past.

Having to decide on our own whether to medicate or not and at what level feels, somehow, upside down to me.

I agree. I'm a bit wary of doing these drops - but what a difference! :)
Your bunnies look amazing. What have you dressed them with?
