The stress lbs have a way to stick around, don't they! Don't worry… you'll successfully zap them sooner or later! :)

Why @Creamtea42 ? Seriously. Effing weight fluctuates, right?

The whole point of "daily weight" is to break the association and concentrate on the trend. You can't go by a single sample!

Samples cloud around the trendline. The trendline counts!

But beyond that…. seek consistency of effort. Long term compliance to the plan.. WHATEVER the plan may be.

Weight MANAGEMENT is… management. Cause life introduces mismanagement. You don't manage things that matter to you only once in a while, do you?

That's part of why I gravitated towards this group since it was echo chambering a lot of my own thoughts.

Choices we can keep on making. Doesn't mean they have to be the SAME for each of us. I get that it may be unlikely that when cooking for 5 people you will be able to weight portions consistently like I do. But consistent choices that are easy enough FOR YOU to implement. Ones that keep YOU in the game and help YOU adjust to "life" ;-)

The weight trend will, eventually, reflect the consistency of effort. One time departures are just that. They disappear in the noise. 50% of the time departures are a different story ;-)

Good on you Creamie! I’m hoping I can return from traveling with lower numbers too. Usually that happens because I have no continuous access to snacks! I need to navigate restaurant food carefully because this will be a sedentary trip.

I think you’ve made a point that resonates with me there… my downfall - very, very often is my snacking environment… when away, I feel more interested in foods I’m not familar with, but often just to look & maybe try a bit … e.g stinky tofu in Taiwan. Tried it as a cultural experience …. and what an experience … 😵‍💫

    Have a good trip!

For me it’s definitely the snacky grab and go thing. Pass through the kitchen or pantry and it’s calling my name. Hungry or not. Away from home ordering wisely in restaurants is usually safe because there are no seconds.
When visiting family I am not comfortable raiding their fridges or pantries. I’m the only overweight/obese family member. And the others are all on board to helping me maintain my weight loss. So I can’t completely embarrass myself by reverting to previous eating habits. I do find myself going to bed hungry though……🥹

    hmmm… that's a tough one.

Snacks can be downfalls: too many plus meals means I can easily end up out of bounds. But I think, looking at things retrospectively, that eating only snacks without any big defined large meals during certain time periods, actually helped me reduce portion sizes. Because after a few days of only "snack size" portions a large meal portion is… large!

But why so extra sedentary for the trip? I would think you would relish the idea of Ohio temperatures as compared to Texas? Don't ask for permission or discuss too much. Just go for a walk when you wake up or before bed or what have you… unless it isn't safe to walk around there? People can always go out with you if they want to hang out? Maybe to the store to get milk or what have you? Or to take some younger ones for ice cream for example (you would have to exercise some self restraint there or not depending… by the sounds of it you may actually have calories left because of being extra cautious during your meals there).

Back from a week at “home” with much temptation. No gain! Woohoo!
BUT leaving again tomorrow for a few days where there will be waaaay more tempting.

And you were worried about Ohio!😎

Where are we heading to? (Virtually for some of us--which just might be safer for the Calories!🙄)

Just a quick trip to where hubby went to college. But it’s still a couple of days of eating out. And of course BBQ because what else does one eat in Texas?
