Good morning, y'all!! 😁
Got up early this morning, it's already SO humid outside, so decided to walk indoors again and got a nice 45 minutes in, while putting away laundry, folding clothes, washing dishes, cleaning the bathrooms and the like. Feeling strong today and am halfway to my step goal for the day already!! After that, I fixed a nice hot turkey sandwich, a leftover piece and a half of chicken, the last banana and lots of ice water! Gonna be a hot one today, that's for sure…maybe even a stray thunderstorm…maybe that will take the edge off of the humidity (I hope!)…
Got a few more things to do today…hoping to bake some chicken, but hate to heat up the kitchen, ya know?! Not sure…
What's on tap for your day today?!! My colleague at work, left for a two-week vacation, so work will be insane this week. It's just two of us left, with him gone, so should make time go fast, but will certainly be crazy! I'm a month away from my next week off, so counting that down…
Hope you all have a lovely day today!!!
Jessica

Good morning! A little Monday motivation from James Clear’s Atomic Habits:
"Whenever you are stuck searching for the optimal plan, remember:
Getting started changes everything."

Here are the results for week 3 of the Step Challenge:
Check out @Zaxa2021's average of over 16,000 steps/day!Notice the last column: it's your average steps for the week plus your standard deviation. If you're unfamiliar with standard deviation (SD), here's one definition: "In statistics, standard deviation (SD) is a measure of the amount of variation or dispersion in a set of data." A small standard deviation (SD) indicates you were fairly consistent with your steps, while a larger SD indicates a wider variance in your steps. There's no better or worse SD — it just shows the variance in your steps. One day of a long hike followed by one day of rest will result in a larger SD, whereas if you hit close to the same steps every day, you'll have a smaller SD.
Roughly ⅔ of your steps fall within one standard deviation of your average, and roughly 95% will fall within two standard deviations.

@jessicakrall8 - Congratulations on sticking with your nutrition and exercise tracking routine for EIGHT years! It’s truly a way of life.
I’ve been a MFP member for 5.5 years and I didn’t know I had received a badge on my sign up anniversary in January 2025 until I saw your post above.
I was surprised to learn that 580,500 other members received the 5th anniversary badge. I’ll bet there are far fewer people who have earned the 8th anniversary badge, but it got me wondering how many people have downloaded the MFP app and how many active users there are here — A LOT!
A nutritionist recommended MFP to me because it has the largest index of nutrition information, by far, compared to other apps that help track food, log exercise calories burned, and other health indicators — like steps and body measurements.
Good work and thank you for leading our group along with @frankwbrown, @nancyinmiami, and @LaurieWrobo.
Your data analysis notes are interesting and helpful @frankwbrown and I’ve been reading - and using - all your great tips for dealing with tough days when we feel tired or have trouble getting started @nancyinmiami. I really appreciate your help building positive habits and momentum!! Many thanks 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

@jessicakrall8 Congratulations! You made me curious… so I looked up my own…
So this is year 11 for me — however, I was inactive (literally) for quite a few years of those years!2 -

Good morning! A tip from James Clear:
"Strangely, life gets harder when you try to make it easy.
- Exercising might be hard, but never moving makes life harder.
- Mastering your craft is hard, but having no skills is harder.
- Uncomfortable conversations are hard, but avoiding every conflict is harder.
Easy has a cost."

This account is just 2 years old. But out of curiosity, I resurrected an old account that I created in 2013, when I was in college. I have used it off and on (mainly off) for years.
Apparently, my weight has been as low as 120 and as high as 180. It kinda makes me sad that this is a continual battle for me that I have to keep going back to. Food and weight has always been an issue for me. I'm know I'm being more healthy with my weight loss this time than prior attempts. I'm hopeful that I am making permanent changes that I'll be able to maintain.
