HOW IT ALL WORKS: The August challenge runs for five weeks, from August 3rd - August 30th.

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get August on the road! 😎

My name is Jennifer and I’m a single 51 year old living in beautiful Southwest Michigan, right on the Lake (throw a stone across the Lake and you’d hit Chicago). I have an American Blue rabbit (her name is Kismet). I have 3 children in their 20s and 5 grandchildren (the oldest turned 2 in April). I go by Grammy since I consider them to be my Grammy Awards 😊

I love to rubber stamp (I’m a Stampin’ Up demo) and make cards. I'm a Christian and also love horror movies. I’m a tea freak (I am a tea reviewer) and love love love fun indie nail polishes. I have worked in Community Development at my County for over 20 years. Tea is life.

I have always been a yo-yo dieter, but mostly up. I have just over 60 pounds to lose (goal is 155). I am, by nature, a Negative Nancy, but I am trying to stay focused and positive. I see my therapist biweekly and he’s been a tremendous help with understanding that my ADHD causes me to be a dopamine chaser…both with food and acquiring things. We are now working on tools to address it.

My Mantra: 2025 is MY year!

Hello Slims, I'm Lisa- Been in this group for about 5 years now. I really appreciate the support it provides. I have struggled with my weight since young adulthood, successfully getting rid of extra weight several times. The struggle became real as I aged. Currently, I am having success with the Mayo Clinic diet. It's been fun fitting into clothes that I have not worn in YEARS.

I live in Florida, been married to DH for 33 years, 2 adult children off doing young adulting and my pup- Gus. For exercise, I walk, strength train, stationary bike and do step aerobics. I love nature and reading.

In a few days, I am heading to Wisconsin to spend some time helping my parents out as my Dad is having surgery. My Mom has dementia. I hope to be able to pop in here, but we'll see.

Got called on the carpet at work on Friday- asked a question about workflow bottlenecks that leave us with nothing to do. My manager told me that I am aggressive and bossy and I ask too many questions that make her feel she is not doing a good job. (she has given me great evaluations every year though…. hmm….) I'm glad that I will be away from work for awhile to think things over. It seems things may be tricky going forward.

Here is a little AI thing that my sister made of Gus-

@Cornanda - hmmm...aggressive, bossy, asking too many questions and making the boss feel like she's not doing her job…sounds like ME! I've been told to pace myself - my reply is that I DO pace myself, this is my pace, too bad if you can't keep up! Someone has to get the work done! 😉

    Sunday, August 3

    PW: 136.2 lbs

    CW: 135.6 lbs.

Oh my gosh! My neighbor keeps mowing parts of my yard. It bothers me because it's different lengths then what I mow. Also, she mows the grass clippings into my driveway and the street. Yesterday, I caught her passed out on her mower next to my driveway. She was ok. Her husband said she drank a fifth of Jager and it was only 10AM.

My weight topped out at 186 after I quit smoking. Now thanks to Wegovy I am back to the weight I was before having a heart attack and quitting smoking 155 lbs. I still have roughly 30 lbs to go. We will see when I get down to 130 if I want to keep going.

Good morning, it seems it’s introduction time. Oddly enough I don’t introduce myself each month. But this month I will.

I’m Darren. I live in Arkansas. I am a follower of Jesus. I’ve been in the group for a really long time. I left once and came back. My weight has been an issue most of my life. My heaviest was over 312. I am currently holding at 221. I’ve not been this light in a really long time, decades perhaps. I’ve tried all sorts of diets. I have made a nutrition change. I only eat meat and animal fats. You could say that @vegan4lyfe2012 and I are opposites.

Back to the intro, I really like music, all kinds. I mostly listen to Christian music but I do occasionally listen to non-Christian music. My preference is metal and yes paint that with a broad brush. I’m not much on music sub-labels.

I enjoy running. I’ve joined a running group and have gotten separated and lost more than I have staying with the group. Lol. It’s frustrating but I’ll not give up.

I’ll end this now because if not I’ll ramble on forever.

Have a blessed day. Just so you know, you have been prayed for today.

@trooworld The son coming this time is his oldest, along with Joe’s two oldest grandkids. It’s been years since he's seen the kids, and it’s a little sad that this will likely be their last time. I hope they all make the most of it. 🙂 I’m glad you had fun at the museum. I would love to have seen those exhibits. I love art so much! Probably because I am the least artistic person I’ve ever met. 😆 Ugh, over the ordeal with the couches. Just think that before your weight loss, you probably wouldn’t have been able to move those couches with just your husband, so way to go!!! 😎

@Veta2018 Ohhhh my goodness! Your neighbor could be a TikTok sensation. 😮

Good morning! Today is the day that Joe’s son and two grandkids come. Alyssa just graduated from college and is looking for a job, and Evan is a sophomore at Kent State. I’m hoping they all talk a lot and let Joe listen. I have prepared them to the best of my ability, as Joe’s ability to have a conversation is extremely limited. He has now entered a new phase where, in the evenings, he becomes very chatty. Last night, we sat in bed and had a “conversation” where all he did was string random words together and then look at me and expect a response. I’ve turned it into a game where I also say random phrases like, “Yeah, that sounds about right,” or “I’m not sure but maybe.” We went for 30 minutes last night and I never did figure out what he was going on and on about, but he was happy that I agreed with him. 😀

My scale went haywire, showing all kinds of numbers. Then it settled on this. I'm hoping a new battery will take away all those extra pounds.

@Cornanda – So excited that the Mayo Clinic diet is working for you! And a late congrats to your daughter getting her new place. But whew…3 flights and no elevator option?!? I think your manager is scared you’re going to take her job since she can’t get the bottlenecks under control. If she’s given you good evaluations every year, maybe she was having a bad day? That’s a tough cookie to chew. Hang in there.

@TeresaW2024 – Yay for good days! I hope the momentum keeps going while Joe’s son and family are visiting.

@trooworld – The Couch Fiasco. Ugh – glad you got all that rearranging done. Hopefully the connectors are easy to put on.

@Veta2018 – Your neighbor’s husband is living in LaLaLand. His wife is NOT fine if she’s passed out like that at 10am. At first, I wanted to laugh, but that’s just unsafe and scary. I hope she gets help soon.

@txcritter69 – That picture of Tigger is perfection!

@19shmoo69 – I can’t believe you didn’t mention coffee in your intro! Not saying you’ve been abducted by aliens, but……

Oh how it sucks to be back to work this morning. I cannot wait to retire! 3 ½ years to go, but it seems like an eternity! I am happy to report that I was under calories yesterday and got my 5,000 steps (which is good for my mucked up ankle). I started looking through my food logs from back in the day when I lost 60 pounds, trying to find any patterns. Haven’t had an epiphany yet, but I’m planning on continuing through them this evening. Anyway, loads of work to get caught up on, so off I go. I hope everyone has a marvelous Monday! Drink your water!

    2025 is MY year!

@Katmary71 - Tagging you to make this easy to find. Thank you very much for logging the numbers!

    Monday Weigh-In

    SW 265.2
    PW 207.8
    CW 206.4

Weight down 8.4 since June 30. I wish this moved faster, but things are headed in the right direction. I decreased my waist by 2 inches and my hips by 1 inch in July.

Exercise: I track distance walked, hiked and run. Last week I logged 39.13 miles, up from 33.14 miles the previous week. Timed exercise last week was 13:12, also up from the previous week. Onwards!

    + + + + + + + +

    MY INTRODUCTION

Hi all! Austin here. I live in Austin, Texas, with my husband, Eric, plus a small menagerie (indoor cats Piku and Habibi; Beaver, a huge comet/goldfish; Fujin, a green cheek conure; and 5 backyard chickens including Blanca, the beauty, Elizabeth the bossy and Amelia, my flyer). My hobbies include math, reading, managing a Scout troop's parent committee, working on a literary conference, and birdwatching.

My weigh-in day is Monday. I am at 206.4 and am looking to (re)lose about 90 pounds.

It has been a good week, though I wish the scale will had moved more this week. I got in over 13 hours of exercise and ate lots of vegetables and fruits, which is key for me.

My big plans for this week are:

    • Food plan and then shopping
    • Hit my vegetables goal
    • Daily exercise
    • 3 strength workouts

Thanks for being here! I am looking forward to a great August!

Here's my short intro for any "newbies" to our team:

I'm Brian, 68 years old and a retired widower (My husband died in 2001 from pulmonary hypertension at the young age of 50.) I now live in North-Central PA - it'll be 5 years the end of this October!😲 I live in a teeny, tiny "fallen on hard times" town, which is so much of PA now. (I've seen photos of this town once being a small bustling metropolis in the 1800s when it had logging and a large natural health spa… now it's all shuttered, empty storefronts, with some dairy farms and corn growers on the outskirts!😐️) I moved here from Metro-NYC, because there was no low-cost housing for Seniors or Disabled w/o a 10+ year waiting list there, and I was through living 9 months in a Shelter, then another 9 months "couchsurfing" with friends in upstate NY. I broke my hip in 2017, and Medicaid gave me a lousy hip repair, 2018 I finally got an official MS diagnosis, which allowed me to get SS/SSI.

Heavy all my life, I ate myself up to 268 lbs by 5/31/24… that's when I became disgusted with myself, and decided to start on my health and wellness journey. Last week I made it down to 199.6 lbs, but it was short-lived. I've had to eat more beef and protein this week, as my doctor said my bloodwork showed me as being "somewhat anemic". So now, I've added Iron to my expanding regimen of vitamins and minerals and supplements, Oh My!!!🙄 I had been doing 14 hours of cardio a week, but it's down to 5-7 hours a week, of late.

    MY INTERESTS:

MUSIC: Dance/Soul/Rock of the 1960s and 1970s; Classical; World; Country; Big Band era; Pagan/New Age; great Divas & Crooners of the 1950s and 1960s.

TV: Currently Amazon Prime and BritBox, sometimes NetFlix, as I hate commercials.

READING (eclectic tastes): Progressive Christianity; geology-earth science; paranormal and haunted houses; hospitality, poverty and homelessness issues; New York City, Provincetown and New Orleans, Spain and Norway; Spanish language; spirituality; cooking and food history; LGBT literature and culture; paganism and druidism; early Celtic, Norse and Greek culture; JRR Tolkien.

I LOVE the AUTUMN and CHRISTMAS seasons.
