HOW IT ALL WORKS: The August challenge runs for five weeks, from August 3rd - August 30th.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get August on the road! 😎

MY INTRODUCTION
Hi all! My name is Mica, and I live in Dover New Hampshire with my boyfriend Rich and my fabulous cat Earl. I'm 69 years old, and I work 3 days a week as a bookkeeper in a plastics factory. I plan to retire in July 2026. I'm at my goal weight (range 127-133).

Weigh-In: SATURDAY
Starting Weight: 286.2 lbs (6 / 1 / 2024)
Past Weight: 199.6 lbs
Current Weight: 202.2 lbs
Up 2.6 lbs
——————
Exercise💦: 5 hours this week
[Well, my stay in “onederland” was very short – 48 hours !!! I expected under normal circumstances that my weight would bounce back up (and down, again… repeat) as I weigh daily. My weight this week went up more – and I expect I’ll be losing slower 😐️ – because of Tuesday’s 6-month GP checkup. My bloodwork showed I was “somewhat anemic,” 😕 and while not a cause for alarm, doctor wants me to take a daily iron supplement, eat some lean red meat once a week, and eat more protein in general. I knew I needed more protein… but now I know why I’ve been so tired, and my exercising has decreased by half, each week. Eight years ago (60 years of age) I went through a one-month period being very anemic and had 5 blood transfusions over a weekend in the hospital… and yes, the doctors were stymied as to the reason, except probably it was dietary.]

Hi Everyone!
I'm Valeta. I am 51 years old and live with my Husband and dog(Benny) in NW Indiana. I lost 60 lbs. here with all your great support. Then, I stopped tracking my food and made bad food choices. In the past year and a half I put back on 13 pounds. I'd like to lose those pounds again. We recently moved into our new house that we've been building for the past 4 years. (out of pocket) So we have no mortgage. Yeah! Which comes and good timing with my husband retiring from his union job. The house still need trim around the windows, but I couldn't wait any longer to move in. I also enjoy spending time with my grandson and in my garden.
This is Benny
This is my grandson, Carson.
This is the before and after of our new home.

My name is Jennifer and I’m a single 51 year old living in beautiful Southwest Michigan, right on the Lake (throw a stone across the Lake and you’d hit Chicago). I have an American Blue rabbit (her name is Kismet). I have 3 children in their 20s and 5 grandchildren (the oldest turned 2 in April). I go by Grammy since I consider them to be my Grammy Awards 😊
I love to rubber stamp (I’m a Stampin’ Up demo) and make cards. I'm a Christian and also love horror movies. I’m a tea freak (I am a tea reviewer) and love love love fun indie nail polishes. I have worked in Community Development at my County for over 20 years. Tea is life.
I have always been a yo-yo dieter, but mostly up. I have just over 60 pounds to lose (goal is 155). I am, by nature, a Negative Nancy, but I am trying to stay focused and positive. I see my therapist biweekly and he’s been a tremendous help with understanding that my ADHD causes me to be a dopamine chaser…both with food and acquiring things. We are now working on tools to address it.
My Mantra: 2025 is MY year!

@AustinRuadhain - Sorry for the late reply. So when a gallbladder is removed, 9 out of 10 people are fine. Their gallbladder stem will produce bile to neutralize stomach acid. I was the not-so-lucky 10 out of 10, so I'm speaking from experience. I had to go to the potty several times a day, stomach hurt so bad, especially with meat and eggs. I was on two medications to "bind me" for about 10 years. Once I went vegan, I was able to stop those meds after 3 weeks and never had an issue like that again. I'm hoping Syd is 1 of 9. Regarding my ankle, it's getting worse. I'm getting sharp stabbing pains like I had before my surgeries, which tells me the repaired tendon has retorn or pulled away from the anchors and screws. Nice job staying away from PizzaGate!
@trooworld - Love those bracelets! So glad you had so much fun at Comic-Con and DANG that is a high-step count! That plant doesn’t even look real! No jumping on the new couch hahaha Look at that weigh-in. How amazing – you have really worked hard for it. 72 pounds down is so awesome! That is a gorgeous picture of you! Your style is so sassy and sweet! Pics of Daisy and Violet always make me chuckle out loud. They are hilariously adorable!
@Katmary71 - I'm so sorry about baby Raye.
@TeresaW2024 - Hugs and prayers for you and Joe. What a devastating but necessary decision you made. We are all here for you.
@Cornanda – Good luck with your mom and dad. He will see just how much he needs your help and I’m sure he’ll appreciate you, even if he doesn’t say it out loud.
@littlebabekitty – Awesome loss!!!
@Veta2018 – Waving down from SW Michigan! Carson is so stinking adorable! What an amazing job you did on your new house – and debt-free, too? Bet that feels so good! Totally jealous of your garden :)
I took last week off of work and enjoyed a staycation. I had a movie marathon with my mother on Monday. Tuesday ended up being at DeVos in Grand Rapids because of Oliver having so many breakout seizures. He now weighs enough to have a rescue medicine and they also added on a daily medicine that is specifically for focalized epilepsy. So far, it’s working but giving the poor baby loose stools. The doctor also is doing a referral since Oliver is 18 months old and still not walking more than 4 or 5 steps. He swings his right leg out and around instead of bending the knee, so he’ll be checked for cerebral palsy. The icing on the cake was him taking a slow motion fall while playing a few days ago and he fractured his wrist. Poor little guy can’t win for losing.
Back to my week off, I missed so many shows from 1995 to 2018 while raising my children, but have heard about so many later on. I bought Harper’s Island based on an online recommendation and binge-watched it. Loved it! Spent a little time with the grands – going to a children’s museum and taking Byron and Brayden to see the Smurfs. I spent a minimal amount of time in the craft room cuz it was just to muggy hot in there and I still haven’t put in the window a/c. Went grocery shopping last night and got lots of healthy foods to start the new week off right. Hoping my weigh in tomorrow is decent since I indulged in alcohol almost every night while “vacationing” LOLs. Ok Ok. Just Smirnoff Ice, but still. Added empty calories none-the-less.
Gotta share this adorable picture of Byron's little hand on the popcorn. He just wanted to make sure everyone knew it was his. I ate around his hand LOLs

Hello Slims, I'm Lisa- Been in this group for about 5 years now. I really appreciate the support it provides. I have struggled with my weight since young adulthood, successfully getting rid of extra weight several times. The struggle became real as I aged. Currently, I am having success with the Mayo Clinic diet. It's been fun fitting into clothes that I have not worn in YEARS.
I live in Florida, been married to DH for 33 years, 2 adult children off doing young adulting and my pup- Gus. For exercise, I walk, strength train, stationary bike and do step aerobics. I love nature and reading.
In a few days, I am heading to Wisconsin to spend some time helping my parents out as my Dad is having surgery. My Mom has dementia. I hope to be able to pop in here, but we'll see.
Got called on the carpet at work on Friday- asked a question about workflow bottlenecks that leave us with nothing to do. My manager told me that I am aggressive and bossy and I ask too many questions that make her feel she is not doing a good job. (she has given me great evaluations every year though…. hmm….) I'm glad that I will be away from work for awhile to think things over. It seems things may be tricky going forward.
Here is a little AI thing that my sister made of Gus-

@Cornanda - hmmm...aggressive, bossy, asking too many questions and making the boss feel like she's not doing her job…sounds like ME! I've been told to pace myself - my reply is that I DO pace myself, this is my pace, too bad if you can't keep up! Someone has to get the work done! 😉

Hello Slimpossibles! I am Teresa, a long-time member of this fantastic group. I live in Georgia with my husband, mother, sister, and little dog Maggie Mae. I work part-time from home as a ministry assistant for my church. Right now, the biggest obstacle to my weight loss has been the last four years of my much older husband’s dementia and failing health. I had lost 80 lbs. before he got sick, but stress and lack of willpower had me gaining most of the weight back. I hate the idea of turning 60 next year, still at this weight, so I’m really trying to get back to healthy eating and exercise, but life is hard, and last week I had to call hospice to come and help us as my husband’s decline has gotten to the point where he can barely walk. I mostly cling to my faith to get me through the days, but I also gain a great deal from being able to come here and discuss what is going on, and receiving so much amazing support from people who have truly become my friends.🙂

@vegan4lyfe2012 Sounds like you had a very nice staycation. Ohhh, poor Oliver breaking his little wrist! ☹️I hope his wrist heals quickly and that his little body will adjust to the medicine. Aw, I love a little chubby hand! 😍
@Cornanda What the heck is wrong with your boss? I just know that you are the best employee, and she is obviously too insecure in herself to appreciate you.😡 I am saying a prayer for your trip to Wisconsin and that you will have the patience and wisdom in navigating both your dad’s recovery and your mom’s health. Action figure Gus is the cutest!!! 😍
Good morning! Yesterday was the best day I’ve had in weeks! Joe had zero dizzy episodes and was able to take a shower, which made me incredibly happy! He is loving his new power recliner, and after his shower, I wrapped him in a blanket and turned the heat feature on to warm his old bones. We also had a fun time when the girls came over to celebrate Hanna’s fifth birthday! Her big party is today, but since we can’t go, we had our own party with McDonald’s, mini cupcakes, and presents. Today, I need to mop my floors and do some house cleaning because tomorrow Joe’s oldest son and his two kids are coming to visit for a few hours. They are over on the coast for a vacation and will make the five-hour drive each way to see him. I’m just praying he has a good day and will be able to enjoy seeing them. Have a good day! 🤗My best girlfriends!! 😍😍

Oh my gosh! My neighbor keeps mowing parts of my yard. It bothers me because it's different lengths then what I mow. Also, she mows the grass clippings into my driveway and the street. Yesterday, I caught her passed out on her mower next to my driveway. She was ok. Her husband said she drank a fifth of Jager and it was only 10AM.

Good morning, it seems it’s introduction time. Oddly enough I don’t introduce myself each month. But this month I will.
I’m Darren. I live in Arkansas. I am a follower of Jesus. I’ve been in the group for a really long time. I left once and came back. My weight has been an issue most of my life. My heaviest was over 312. I am currently holding at 221. I’ve not been this light in a really long time, decades perhaps. I’ve tried all sorts of diets. I have made a nutrition change. I only eat meat and animal fats. You could say that @vegan4lyfe2012 and I are opposites.
Back to the intro, I really like music, all kinds. I mostly listen to Christian music but I do occasionally listen to non-Christian music. My preference is metal and yes paint that with a broad brush. I’m not much on music sub-labels.
I enjoy running. I’ve joined a running group and have gotten separated and lost more than I have staying with the group. Lol. It’s frustrating but I’ll not give up.
I’ll end this now because if not I’ll ramble on forever.
Have a blessed day. Just so you know, you have been prayed for today.

@trooworld The son coming this time is his oldest, along with Joe’s two oldest grandkids. It’s been years since he's seen the kids, and it’s a little sad that this will likely be their last time. I hope they all make the most of it. 🙂 I’m glad you had fun at the museum. I would love to have seen those exhibits. I love art so much! Probably because I am the least artistic person I’ve ever met. 😆 Ugh, over the ordeal with the couches. Just think that before your weight loss, you probably wouldn’t have been able to move those couches with just your husband, so way to go!!! 😎
@Veta2018 Ohhhh my goodness! Your neighbor could be a TikTok sensation. 😮
Good morning! Today is the day that Joe’s son and two grandkids come. Alyssa just graduated from college and is looking for a job, and Evan is a sophomore at Kent State. I’m hoping they all talk a lot and let Joe listen. I have prepared them to the best of my ability, as Joe’s ability to have a conversation is extremely limited. He has now entered a new phase where, in the evenings, he becomes very chatty. Last night, we sat in bed and had a “conversation” where all he did was string random words together and then look at me and expect a response. I’ve turned it into a game where I also say random phrases like, “Yeah, that sounds about right,” or “I’m not sure but maybe.” We went for 30 minutes last night and I never did figure out what he was going on and on about, but he was happy that I agreed with him. 😀4 -

My scale went haywire, showing all kinds of numbers. Then it settled on this. I'm hoping a new battery will take away all those extra pounds.2 -
@Cornanda – So excited that the Mayo Clinic diet is working for you! And a late congrats to your daughter getting her new place. But whew…3 flights and no elevator option?!? I think your manager is scared you’re going to take her job since she can’t get the bottlenecks under control. If she’s given you good evaluations every year, maybe she was having a bad day? That’s a tough cookie to chew. Hang in there.
@TeresaW2024 – Yay for good days! I hope the momentum keeps going while Joe’s son and family are visiting.
@trooworld – The Couch Fiasco. Ugh – glad you got all that rearranging done. Hopefully the connectors are easy to put on.
@Veta2018 – Your neighbor’s husband is living in LaLaLand. His wife is NOT fine if she’s passed out like that at 10am. At first, I wanted to laugh, but that’s just unsafe and scary. I hope she gets help soon.
@txcritter69 – That picture of Tigger is perfection!
@19shmoo69 – I can’t believe you didn’t mention coffee in your intro! Not saying you’ve been abducted by aliens, but……
Oh how it sucks to be back to work this morning. I cannot wait to retire! 3 ½ years to go, but it seems like an eternity! I am happy to report that I was under calories yesterday and got my 5,000 steps (which is good for my mucked up ankle). I started looking through my food logs from back in the day when I lost 60 pounds, trying to find any patterns. Haven’t had an epiphany yet, but I’m planning on continuing through them this evening. Anyway, loads of work to get caught up on, so off I go. I hope everyone has a marvelous Monday! Drink your water!

MY INTRODUCTION
Hi all! Austin here. I live in Austin, Texas, with my husband, Eric, plus a small menagerie (indoor cats Piku and Habibi; Beaver, a huge comet/goldfish; Fujin, a green cheek conure; and 5 backyard chickens including Blanca, the beauty, Elizabeth the bossy and Amelia, my flyer). My hobbies include math, reading, managing a Scout troop's parent committee, working on a literary conference, and birdwatching.
My weigh-in day is Monday. I am at 206.4 and am looking to (re)lose about 90 pounds.
It has been a good week, though I wish the scale will had moved more this week. I got in over 13 hours of exercise and ate lots of vegetables and fruits, which is key for me.
My big plans for this week are:
- Food plan and then shopping
- Hit my vegetables goal
- Daily exercise
- 3 strength workouts
Thanks for being here! I am looking forward to a great August!

Here's my short intro for any "newbies" to our team:
I'm Brian, 68 years old and a retired widower (My husband died in 2001 from pulmonary hypertension at the young age of 50.) I now live in North-Central PA - it'll be 5 years the end of this October!😲 I live in a teeny, tiny "fallen on hard times" town, which is so much of PA now. (I've seen photos of this town once being a small bustling metropolis in the 1800s when it had logging and a large natural health spa… now it's all shuttered, empty storefronts, with some dairy farms and corn growers on the outskirts!😐️) I moved here from Metro-NYC, because there was no low-cost housing for Seniors or Disabled w/o a 10+ year waiting list there, and I was through living 9 months in a Shelter, then another 9 months "couchsurfing" with friends in upstate NY. I broke my hip in 2017, and Medicaid gave me a lousy hip repair, 2018 I finally got an official MS diagnosis, which allowed me to get SS/SSI.
Heavy all my life, I ate myself up to 268 lbs by 5/31/24… that's when I became disgusted with myself, and decided to start on my health and wellness journey. Last week I made it down to 199.6 lbs, but it was short-lived. I've had to eat more beef and protein this week, as my doctor said my bloodwork showed me as being "somewhat anemic". So now, I've added Iron to my expanding regimen of vitamins and minerals and supplements, Oh My!!!🙄 I had been doing 14 hours of cardio a week, but it's down to 5-7 hours a week, of late.
MY INTERESTS:
MUSIC: Dance/Soul/Rock of the 1960s and 1970s; Classical; World; Country; Big Band era; Pagan/New Age; great Divas & Crooners of the 1950s and 1960s.
TV: Currently Amazon Prime and BritBox, sometimes NetFlix, as I hate commercials.
READING (eclectic tastes): Progressive Christianity; geology-earth science; paranormal and haunted houses; hospitality, poverty and homelessness issues; New York City, Provincetown and New Orleans, Spain and Norway; Spanish language; spirituality; cooking and food history; LGBT literature and culture; paganism and druidism; early Celtic, Norse and Greek culture; JRR Tolkien.
I LOVE the AUTUMN and CHRISTMAS seasons.
