@trooworld The son coming this time is his oldest, along with Joe’s two oldest grandkids. It’s been years since he's seen the kids, and it’s a little sad that this will likely be their last time. I hope they all make the most of it. 🙂 I’m glad you had fun at the museum. I would love to have seen those exhibits. I love art so much! Probably because I am the least artistic person I’ve ever met. 😆 Ugh, over the ordeal with the couches. Just think that before your weight loss, you probably wouldn’t have been able to move those couches with just your husband, so way to go!!! 😎
@Veta2018 Ohhhh my goodness! Your neighbor could be a TikTok sensation. 😮
Good morning! Today is the day that Joe’s son and two grandkids come. Alyssa just graduated from college and is looking for a job, and Evan is a sophomore at Kent State. I’m hoping they all talk a lot and let Joe listen. I have prepared them to the best of my ability, as Joe’s ability to have a conversation is extremely limited. He has now entered a new phase where, in the evenings, he becomes very chatty. Last night, we sat in bed and had a “conversation” where all he did was string random words together and then look at me and expect a response. I’ve turned it into a game where I also say random phrases like, “Yeah, that sounds about right,” or “I’m not sure but maybe.” We went for 30 minutes last night and I never did figure out what he was going on and on about, but he was happy that I agreed with him. 😀4 -

My scale went haywire, showing all kinds of numbers. Then it settled on this. I'm hoping a new battery will take away all those extra pounds.1 -
@Cornanda – So excited that the Mayo Clinic diet is working for you! And a late congrats to your daughter getting her new place. But whew…3 flights and no elevator option?!? I think your manager is scared you’re going to take her job since she can’t get the bottlenecks under control. If she’s given you good evaluations every year, maybe she was having a bad day? That’s a tough cookie to chew. Hang in there.
@TeresaW2024 – Yay for good days! I hope the momentum keeps going while Joe’s son and family are visiting.
@trooworld – The Couch Fiasco. Ugh – glad you got all that rearranging done. Hopefully the connectors are easy to put on.
@Veta2018 – Your neighbor’s husband is living in LaLaLand. His wife is NOT fine if she’s passed out like that at 10am. At first, I wanted to laugh, but that’s just unsafe and scary. I hope she gets help soon.
@txcritter69 – That picture of Tigger is perfection!
@19shmoo69 – I can’t believe you didn’t mention coffee in your intro! Not saying you’ve been abducted by aliens, but……
Oh how it sucks to be back to work this morning. I cannot wait to retire! 3 ½ years to go, but it seems like an eternity! I am happy to report that I was under calories yesterday and got my 5,000 steps (which is good for my mucked up ankle). I started looking through my food logs from back in the day when I lost 60 pounds, trying to find any patterns. Haven’t had an epiphany yet, but I’m planning on continuing through them this evening. Anyway, loads of work to get caught up on, so off I go. I hope everyone has a marvelous Monday! Drink your water!
2025 is MY year!

MY INTRODUCTION
Hi all! Austin here. I live in Austin, Texas, with my husband, Eric, plus a small menagerie (indoor cats Piku and Habibi; Beaver, a huge comet/goldfish; Fujin, a green cheek conure; and 5 backyard chickens including Blanca, the beauty, Elizabeth the bossy and Amelia, my flyer). My hobbies include math, reading, managing a Scout troop's parent committee, working on a literary conference, and birdwatching.
My weigh-in day is Monday. I am at 206.4 and am looking to (re)lose about 90 pounds.
It has been a good week, though I wish the scale will had moved more this week. I got in over 13 hours of exercise and ate lots of vegetables and fruits, which is key for me.
My big plans for this week are:
- Food plan and then shopping
- Hit my vegetables goal
- Daily exercise
- 3 strength workouts
Thanks for being here! I am looking forward to a great August!

Hi 👋
I'm back! Im very tired, but had a great time. I didn't take very many pictures, but here's one of grumpy stumpy
@Katmary71 I'm not sure where Lk. Tapps is, but I'm just across the pond (a ferry ride) from Seattle.
Y'all have a great day 😀

Here's my short intro for any "newbies" to our team:
I'm Brian, 68 years old and a retired widower (My husband died in 2001 from pulmonary hypertension at the young age of 50.) I now live in North-Central PA - it'll be 5 years the end of this October!😲 I live in a teeny, tiny "fallen on hard times" town, which is so much of PA now. (I've seen photos of this town once being a small bustling metropolis in the 1800s when it had logging and a large natural health spa… now it's all shuttered, empty storefronts, with some dairy farms and corn growers on the outskirts!😐️) I moved here from Metro-NYC, because there was no low-cost housing for Seniors or Disabled w/o a 10+ year waiting list there, and I was through living 9 months in a Shelter, then another 9 months "couchsurfing" with friends in upstate NY. I broke my hip in 2017, and Medicaid gave me a lousy hip repair, 2018 I finally got an official MS diagnosis, which allowed me to get SS/SSI.
Heavy all my life, I ate myself up to 268 lbs by 5/31/24… that's when I became disgusted with myself, and decided to start on my health and wellness journey. Last week I made it down to 199.6 lbs, but it was short-lived. I've had to eat more beef and protein this week, as my doctor said my bloodwork showed me as being "somewhat anemic". So now, I've added Iron to my expanding regimen of vitamins and minerals and supplements, Oh My!!!🙄 I had been doing 14 hours of cardio a week, but it's down to 5-7 hours a week, of late.
MY INTERESTS:
MUSIC: Dance/Soul/Rock of the 1960s and 1970s; Classical; World; Country; Big Band era; Pagan/New Age; great Divas & Crooners of the 1950s and 1960s.
TV: Currently Amazon Prime and BritBox, sometimes NetFlix, as I hate commercials.
READING (eclectic tastes): Progressive Christianity; geology-earth science; paranormal and haunted houses; hospitality, poverty and homelessness issues; New York City, Provincetown and New Orleans, Spain and Norway; Spanish language; spirituality; cooking and food history; LGBT literature and culture; paganism and druidism; early Celtic, Norse and Greek culture; JRR Tolkien.
I LOVE the AUTUMN and CHRISTMAS seasons.

WEIGH IN UPDATE
WEIGH INS DUE TODAY FROM @laurelfit57 @bobboyardee
Reminder To Weigh In Tomorrow to @TeresaW2024 @FushiaKat0 -
Hi friends! I’m Kathy, I co-captain Mission Slimpossibles with the amazing @trooworld and we have @micaroo4 as our awesome motivator . I’ve been in this group for 6-and-a-half years and we’re happy you’re part of our family! I log all weigh-ins, please pick a day that is easy for you to log your weight. If you can’t weigh in on your day please let me know so I can report it and you aren’t dropped. Do your best to weigh in on time unless you absolutely can’t do it as it takes extra time to deal with. Thank you!
I’ve been in this group for 6.5 years and love it, I’m blessed to have made a lot of friends here and look forward to my time on here each night. I’m 53 and live in CA with my two cats and currently have 6 foster kittens. I file claims part time, volunteer at the food bank farm and greenhouse, am involved in a community garden, and have a large garden at home. I love reading probably more than gardening and am either in a garden or reading or drying herbs/processing food from the garden this time of year. Recently fell off the wagon and I’m trying to get back on track.
Let’s have a great August!

@micaroo4 Oh my gosh you must’ve been rubbing Earl’s fav spot in the picture he looks happy!
@baodell17724 I’m glad you have an answer about feeling so tired, hope you’re feeling better and back to feeling better soon.
@trooworld You look so happy, healthy, and beautiful in that photo in your bio I love it! Dogs are stinkin cute as can be too! Great job getting in the workout even with a headache! Ugh the couch sounds like a nightmare. The exhibit you sound to sounds fascinating!
@Veta2018 that pesto pasta looks delicious! Congratulations to being in your new house! Benny is just beautiful. Wow I love your garden space and new home very beautiful. Yikes your neighbor sounds challenging!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Love the photo of your family that’s a lot of babies! I know you’re loving every minute of it. I didn’t realize it was from your gallbladder that you went vegan I’m so glad it helps. Is there anything that can be done for your ankle not requiring another surgery? Thank you. Poor Oliver I’m glad he’s big enough for the meds but hope the other issues improve soon. LOL I’m with Byron back off my popcorn!
@Cornanda WOW I’m sorry to hear about that review that is odd to get good reviews and hear that. You could be softer with her now that you know but her feeling like she’s not doing a good job is more of a “her” problem, you wouldn’t be asking so many questions if she was giving all the information for you to do your job right? It does sound tricky maybe you both can work on communication and see where you stand in a month or so? A break now sounds like perfect timing even though I’m sure you’re worried about your Dad’s surgery. Love the Gus figure!
@gemwolf110 The last chat is closed on your weigh in day so this one. It’s already been calculated so I’ll need to notify the spreadsheet owner as your last weigh in is in the new spreadsheet already as your starting weight for August, I’ll ask her to change it.
@TeresaW2024 I’m so glad Joe is loving the recliner! I’m so glad you had your own celebration with Hanna. Hope the visiting goes well!
@txcritter69 your house and pets and beautiful!
GO MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLES ON 3RD PLACE! Way to go @littlebabekitty @sleepygirl79 @19shmoo69 on leading the pack last week!
JULY TOP WINNER IS MISSION SLIMPOSSIBLES, GREAT JOB EVERYONE! You absolutely crushed it @digger61 way to go! @AustinRuadhain @Cornanda great job leading the pack!
@19shmoo69 Great to see an intro from you! I’m glad you’re not giving up on the running group keep up the great work!

ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING CO-CAPTAIN?
I've been part of the support of this team for 6 years and would like to retire my position as co-captain. I just don't have the time for all the extras that go into this role right now but want to stay active in the group. If any of you are interested please contact me, I'm willing to offer support getting you started with the spreadsheet and reporting things. It will need to be someone who can come on most days in the week. The spreadsheet part isn't bad unless there's late weigh-ins then everything needs to be reported in the captain's thread so it can be handled on the spreadsheet. Daily it's logging the weigh ins and doing weigh in update posts then keeping up with the group. @trooworld is an awesome Co-captain and is the best partner and @micaroo4 is great at motivating and keeping up with people so the team's solid and of course the members are wonderful. Thank you.

@Katmary71 lets maybe skip this week as I’m now 2 days behind. Thanks

Huge shout-out to @Katmary71 for all her hard work as co captain- a heartfelt thank you!
Tuesday- No time to get properly caught up, but I am reading all the intros with interest and it's great to hear what everyone is up to good and not so good. (that's life, right?!) Thank you SO much for the support with my parents medical issues and the debacle with my manager. Appreciate you all very much.
I took today off as I didn't feel like dealing with her- I did work Monday. She called me and kind of apologized and said she lost her cool and that I speak appropriately 99.5% of the time…… glad I have some time away to think through how I will manage things going forward.
Being off today gives me time to pack in a leisurely fashion and spend extra time with DH and the pup who I will be missing very much while I am gone. I fly out Wed. Dad's surgery is Thurs.

@TeresaW2024 Oh I see . Yes, that is sad. I hope it's a good visit. Thank you, I love that museum. It's my favorite museum in Balboa Park! You would love Balboa Park: there is the photographic museum, the Timken Museum (free!) which is an art museum, and the art museum. There are many more museums there but those are the artistic ones besides the Mingei (the one we went to). That's true, I couldn't have done that! I hope the visit went well. That's sweet that you have those conversations with Joe at night.
@vegan4lyfe2012 I am sorry about the gain , hopefully it's just the battery. Thanks, yes, I hope they are. I hope they don't require a special tool! I can't wait to retire, either: I've got so many hobbies and not enough time! LOL 3 1/2 years isn't too bad. I have about 10-15. Good job with the eating, tracking, and steps!
@AustinRuadhain Congrats on the loss and your progress ! Great that you are measuring as well. Yippeee on being down in inches, too! And excellent exercise time.
@DrewsAnna I'm glad you had fun .
@baodell17724 Since you like geology /earth sciences, you may be interested in this newish coffee table book: Earth: The Definitive Visual Guide I work at a library and we just got this book. It's a really nice coffee table book with digestible information! I love Autumn and Christmas, too!
@Katmary71 Thank you ! The couch was a pain in the buttocks lol. I'm sorry to hear you want to step down as co-captain. You are awesome at it! I appreciate so much your work that you have done. Big hugs and hopes that someone steps up.
@Cornanda I'm glad you took the day off . I hope all goes well at your parent's house and with your dad's surgery.
Hi all. Not much going on here. I made a recipe from a Skinnytaste cookbook last night for dinner: American Cheesy Goulash (from Skinnytaste One and Done cookbook). I used Trader Joe's Unexpected Cheddar in it, which I really like. The recipe is nice and easy. Today, I have my last PT session, which is a relief to be done with.
Tracked yesterday? No

@Katmary71 I understand that you need to find someone else to take over as co-captain, and I hope someone will step up to relieve you. You have been an outstanding leader, and we all appreciate you sooooo much! ❣️
@Cornada, is it possible for you to go all passive-aggressive and just not talk anymore at work unless absolutely necessary? I would have to quit because my mouth has a mind of its own! 😂 Enjoy your day with your DH and sweet Gus. Have a good flight, and I’m praying for your dad to have a quick recovery! ♥️
@trooworld When I was a young teenager, we lived with my uncle John in Huntington Beach for a short time, and he took us to Balboa Island. I still remember what a fun day that was! We watched salt-water taffy being made, and that left a lasting impression on my young life. To this day, I can never pass up that yummy, chewy candy! 😀
Good morning! Our visit went really well yesterday, and Joe thoroughly enjoyed his family. He mostly just sat and listened to them talk about their lives, which is what we wanted. ☺️This morning, however, hasn’t been as good! Joe had to use the bathroom and then proceeded to pass out hard on me. I tried for almost 15 minutes to get him to wake up, and finally had to get my sister to help me get him back into bed. I’m going to need to make some adjustments to our approach to him in the mornings because these passing-out episodes are much more intense than they used to be. Today, we have the chaplain and social worker from our hospice care team visiting us. I hope I like them! 🤨
Question: Have you found any unexpected benefits to losing weight or living healthier? When I had lost the 80 lbs. I felt amazing! I was healthier, much more fit, and could wear cute clothes that showed off my shape and didn’t just try to cover it up. I am going to get those benefits back!!!

Good Morning
My name for those who don’t already know me is Missy, I’m from the littlest state of Rhode Island. I live with my 4 dogs ( 3 huskies and a bichon, bichon rules the roost), I work a desk job as a payroll accountant, and have only 4 classes left until I obtain my MBA degree in late June 2026 if all goes well. I try to regularly go to Zumba, and aqua classes. I’ve lost weight before and got to my goal weight twice but didn’t last long after getting a sedentary job and back then third shift (wouldn’t recommend that btw) it threw my system all out of whack, when I gained all this weight and haven’t been able to really get a good handle on it). Have about 80 to 110 pounds to lose.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good Morning!
Where is the summer going? Already August?!? Well I finally doing it. Decluttering the house, I’m in Day 5 and have a half dumpster full so far. Have 5 days left still a lot to go through. Definitely burning calories on this adventure. I’m also feeling so much better. I’m hoping this taming the chaos in the house leads to taming the chaos in the kitchen and getting back on track with losing weight and getting healthy again.
How is everyone else doing?

Have you found any unexpected benefits to losing weight or living healthier? I think the most unexpected benefit was how good my hands looked. I didn't really think my hands looked "fat", but it was amazing how much more delicate and defined my hands and fingers looked as my body fat diminished.

@DrewsAnna – Grumpy Stumpy is hilarious! Thank you for the morning chuckle!
@baodell17724 – What a journey you’ve been on. A difficult one, for sure, but you have really shone through – Down almost 70 pounds since last year! You’ll be back into Onederland in no time! Ugh – that article about snacking hits too hard (I’ll elaborate below). Autumn and Halloween are my favorite times of the year 😊
@Katmary71 – Thank you for all the work you put into being co-captain. I appreciate you doing it, along with @trooworld and @micaroo4 ❤️
@Cornanda – I’m glad she apologized. I hope you’re able to have a relaxing day today. I’ll be praying for you and your family. Safe travels!
@trooworld – I should probably clarify my retirement plan. I can retire at 55 with my full government pension, but it will only be equal to about half of my current income. So I will still have to work part time. Most people at the county come back after retirement and do part time in another department. I’m interested in possibly working over at the courthouse (I’m in the administration side now). But, it still opens up more time for me to see the grands, do my crafting and watch the horror movies 🎃
@TeresaW2024 – I’m glad the visit went well yesterday. I’m so sorry about the passing out episodes. That has got to be so physically and emotionally draining. I’m glad your sister helps you with him.
@gemwolf110 - Awesome job with the decluttering! It definitely affects our minds. I need to do some of that as well. Decluttering and reorganizing. GO YOU!
I was doing so freaking good yesterday (I'm listing everything I had for the day so you all can tell me if you see a pattern that I don't when I totally failed in the evening)
> Breakfast at 9am: V8 and banana
> Lunch at 12:30pm: half a Moe’s bowl (tofu, beans, rice, guac, pico, lettuce, peppers, onions)
> Dinner at 5:30pm: 2 veggie paninis (sourdough, avocado, peppers, onions, zucchini, eggplant, tomato, cheeze)
…The sourdough loaf I bought was a small one, so I made 2 paninis. One wasn’t enough, but 2 was too much. I should’ve stopped after 1 ½. But I didn’t. Clean Plate Club, ya know? So, I was too full. Still too full even when I started roaming the kitchen for snacks. I don’t know what came over me. I then proceeded to eat:
> 8:00pm: 3 servings of Tomato Basil Harvest Snaps
> 10:00pm: 12 Ritz crackers with cream cheeze
> AND midnight: a package of miso ramen!
Like seriously?!? The only thing I can attribute such nonsense to is that I saw my therapist right before dinner and it was a very emotional session. I’m trying to not be mad at myself. I logged all the extra points as my flex points (WW), so I’m technically still good for the week (still have 8 flex points left). BUT I have to seriously keep it in check. Ugh!Thoughts and prayers continued for Oliver, please. The new medicine has to be weaned up, so he’s only on half of the therapeutic dose for another week or so and he had a 2 minute seizure last night. It knocked him out for a while. My poor Ollipop.
Have you found any unexpected benefits to losing weight or living healthier?
When I initially lost 60 pounds back in the day, my steps were lighter and I could do so many activities with my children. I enjoyed wearing all the fun clothes and I loved that I could actually see my hour-glass shape again. I carry 2 photos of me from back then in my wallet as a reminder of where I want to be a year from now.2 -
For the gardeners in this group: This made me smile, thinking here are plants that I won't easily be able to kill !!! 🙄

I bought a new keyboard, sometimes I need to look at the letters on the keys and several were worn off on my old keyboard, I wanted the same one, but they retired the Microsoft keyboard I liked so I bought a Kensington. It's a bit smaller, so I'm learning how to type on it.
It's time to build a sandcastle contest room, I need some inspiration.
Have you found any unexpected benefits to losing weight or living healthier?
Yes I no longer have to pay attention to the weight loss commercials. I now wear my wedding ring on my middle finger, it was falling off and I didn't want to lose it. I love being a size medium, I shop on Amazon a lot and all of the clothes I buy in a medium size fit me. I'm motivated to keep the weight off, my underwear just fits me and if I gain weight, I will have to buy a bigger size and I refuse to do that.

I'm up at this crazy hour because I just caught a mouse. I use live traps, so I had to get dressed and drive him somewhere else to re-home him. This is the second mouse I've caught this summer. It was Earl who alerted me to the mouse in the kitchen - I had not seen any mouse signs in cabinets, drawers, or under the sink. I put one trap under the sink and one under the stove. We caught him under the stove. I've taped up every where I can see where they might get in, but they still find a way inside.

ICE BREAKER QUESTION: What is your usual breakfast? Mine is a spoonful of peanut butter or a handful of nuts; something with some fat content so that my vitamins will be better absorbed; plus an ice cold Diet Coke.

@micaroo4 I caught 3 or 4 mice 🐁 that came inside for the first time. Normally they stayed in the garage. My pest control guy said they have been seeing more mice inside homes than in previous years.

Good Morning!
Starting Day 6 of the clutter purge, making good progress. I’m definitely starting to feel all the activity and to add to it I went to the golf driving range yesterday with a friend to try out some new clubs I got in preparation for a golf tournament that is in 2 weeks. Haven’t golfed in 20 years so I’m feeling it this morning! Forgot how different muscle groups it uses that weren’t being used for awhile.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
