😀 Sandy, Son and DIL eleven children between them but not all of them are well connected with them. John has two born to him children and two step children, one that he raised since she was 3 years old (her father died in a motorcycle accident the day John and her mother got married). None of them keep in touch with him. Andrea has five born to her children and two sons of her second husband who died about ten years ago. The born to her children include one who is 18 and lives with them and the others who drop in a lot. The other two have distanced themselves since their dad died.
😀 Jackie, the news about George sounds good but the news about that selfish driver doesn't sound so good. So glad you cool headed response resulted in only a bit of damage.
😀 Lin, I got my last Covid shot in April and don't when I should get another one. I messaged my doctor to find out when I should get another. I'll wait to go for a flu shot in case I get them both on the same visit.to the pharmacy.
😀 My garage is looking a lot better now that John has taken care of the things that I didn't want or didn't recognize. I took a load to the charity shop yesterday and began the process of sweeping under and behind the shelving and rearranging things to suit me. It will take awhile since I like to work only about 30 minutes in a session.
😀 I finished trimming the smoke plant with the battery powered trimmer. It is trimmed and looks like someone who got their hair cut by a six year old using scissors for the first time but it will grow back next season.
😀 I skipped my regular morning Zoom meeting yesterday to go the neighbourhood "Fit and Fall-proof class". it's a fun class of easy exercise meant for seniors at all levels of fitness including those who need to sit for part of it. The group was very friendly and I heard some news about a neighbour that I wouldn't have heard otherwise.
😀 A friend is coming for a visit today. She likes dogs and the dogs like her.

Yesterday was very busy after our morning walk. Glad you enjoyed George’s wiggle Lin! ❤️🐶
Lots of gardening before a visit from a gardening business. I walked round with him showing what needs to be cut back but also saying I might manage some myself but at least the pressure is off! He won’t be here until mid November. Last job was for me to cut the grass so looking out from my garden room it all looks incredibly tidy. Fine if I don’t walk to the far end!
Today began with another walk on the moors where I bumped into a couple I hadn’t seen for months and heard that was because the husband has been receiving cancer treatment. He has an appointment with his consultant next week and is hoping for an all clear. When we got home I loaded my car with items for the tip and also managed to repair my wing mirror with a bit of luck and some duck tape! George came with me and once unloaded I went to the local farm supply store for a bag of treats for the hens and a pack of soft treats for George because he is still struggling with the old ones he used to love. I won’t do much this afternoon because I can feel all the activity is catching up with me!
Another pretty tea set Lin. Beautiful Autumnal colours.
Happy Wednesday. Stay safe in this crazy world. 😌😉

Happy Wednesday! I didn't sleep well again so very tired today. I am waiting for my Walmart grocery order and vacuumed the whole house as the carpet cleaner instructed. I also removed my round area rug yesterday and spent so much time removing the two sided tape. I don't think I am going to put it back down as the carpet underneath is so much cleaner than the rest of my carpet. I never eat at the table as I eat on my cocktail tail that pulls up to eat off of it. I think it would be easier to keep the carpet cleaner without the area rug. Then I moved small pieces of furniture into my walk in closet so he could clean more carpet. They do not move furniture only the exposed areas. I can't fit my dining room table in my kitchen so I am going to put it on the area rug in front of my couch so he can clean the dining area with no furniture. Too much information but that has been my day.
Barbie, sounds like a great big family even though they don't see them all which is sad but happens. Babe's kids hated me even though his daughter still texts me like she likes me.
They are coming at 8:30am to clean the carpet tomorrow so I have to get up early and get ready for my meeting. He said they should be done in time for me to go and it will give rug time to dry. I am going to sit after my meeting for a couple of hours so I am hoping that is enough time. Have a good night.

Happy Thursday! Had my alarm set for 7 but woke up at 6 to be ready for carpet cleaners who were supposed to be here at 8:30 but just texted to say they will be here around 9. Still waiting. I am hoping to make my meeting but at this rate I don't know if I will. Just showed up and said he should be done by the time I have to leave. 😊
Have a good day.

I’ve enjoyed a day out with my friend Linda. We drove to a Cornish company that produces bags of rich garden compost at a very reasonable price. Linda drove because she has a large vehicle so we could stack the bags in the back, then drive to one of our favourite garden centres for early lunch of smoked salmon with a beautiful Hollandaise sauce. It was sunny and warm so we sat outside with cups of coffee, chatting for a couple of hours. We did stroll round after looking at the plants for sale but they were incredibly expensive and I am working towards splitting plants or collecting seeds to save money! The compost has been unloaded by my gate and because they are heavy I will probably open one at a time and fill trugs rather than try to carry a full bag. My friend Charmaine messaged later to tell me her eye operation went well but she cannot drive for the next week so won’t be visiting at the weekend after all. I wasn’t surprised because I was thinking her too optimistic!
I must get out first thing to shop for groceries so as it’s gone midnight, I had better get to bed!

Good evening. I wasn’t here yesterday as my Internet connection went out last night. I couldn’t get to any sites. Isn’t that fu?
Today, I had a nice day with lovely electronic cards from a few lovely friends, texts, a couple of Facebook posts, some emails, a gift arrived the mail and some birthday cards appeared as well. I am very thankful to be remembered.
Jackie, thank you for the best wishes and the cute bear. Very thoughtful. A lovely day with your friend Linda. I thought of going to a nursery this morning but thought I would likely bring home more than I needed. Good idea to not try to lug incredibly heavy bags. That wouldn’t be good for your back.
Sandy, I hope the carpet cleaning turned out well.
Barbie, how are you and feisty Annie doing?Did a few Zoom classes today and tomorrow among the classes, there is a line dance party mid-afternoon.
Be safe all.

Happy Friday! Carpet looks great and they finished so I could go to meeting and then sit for a couple of hours. Today I am running fans and getting the carpet to completely dry before putting the pieces I could move back. It is a light color and I am hoping if I ask people to take off their shoes I can keep it cleaner. Is that rude? They bug man came and sprayed and said what the landlord did should keep the mice out and I haven't seen another since. I did laundry and staying in today and for the weekend except for Church if I can. I am so tired I need a break.
Lin, I am so sorry I was late with your birthday wishes but now you can celebrate twice. lol
Want to put things back where they belong so I will be back tomorrow. Have a good day.

😀 Sandy, I know a lot of people who have a no shoes rule. It's not unusual and it's not rude. It's your house and your rules.

Good evening. The line dancing party today was great. For some reason, I still had all of the dances in my memory banks. I also exchanged texts with a friend I hadn’t heard from for a long time. She had a health issue this year. Kidney cancer found on an imaging study related to her Crohn’s disease. It turned out to be extremely small and they froze the spot. I am sure she will have plenty of follow-ups.
Tomorrow is the block party. I have decided not to attend. And there is a church potluck and business meeting Sunday evening. Both events require making/taking food. The church potluck requires several dishes and a dessert. Nope.
I will just do my regular stuff over the weekend.
Be safe my friends. Have happy days and thank you for the birthday wishes.

Happy Saturday! I am on hold with Comcast as I received an email they received my cancellation request which I did not request. This happened to me once before and I had to get a new account and lost all my recordings. I am ready to drop them and get a new service but I do like their internet. Nothing else going on except for Church later.
Lin, you must be in good shape to do all those line dances. When my kids were young I took them to a dude ranch with other friends and their kids and we all loved line dancing. Can't you just stop by and say hi to your neighbors without eating anything?
Barbie, thanks. I did put up a sign asking to people to take off their shoes. I even ordered some shoe coverings to put on their shoes if they don't want to take them off.
Jackie, hope all is well with you and George.
Have a good day.

Hello, going to write a quick note. I was able to connect to my Zoom classes this morning. Then my Internet connection went out. I have been fussing around with it for hours. It just seemed to reconnect. So before it disappears again, I wanted to say hello.
Definitely not interested in the party. I don’t have food to take, my lawn chair is heavy and I would have to drag that down there and there is not much shade.Sandy, glad you are looking after yourself and also glad the pest control company said the landlord’s efforts to keep the mice away were good.
Hello Barbie and Jackie. I hope you are having a pleasant weekend.
I am going to try to register for tomorrow’s Zoom classes before the Internet changes its mind about functioning.
See you tomorrow.Lin 🙋🏼♀️

I have been battling to get on to MFP as it sends me round in circles! It was another day of gardening and then trying to attach a plastic sheet to the hens’ run to protect them from rain. A lot of arm stretching meant a bad job so I will return another day to see if I can make improvements.
Today wasn’t so warm or sunny but I enjoyed my walk with George, then bought a few groceries at the local store. Rain arrived so I did a few chores in the cottage, then watched the final of the women’s rugby cup final. England beat Canada in an entertaining match which was a great result although having lived in Canada for nearly 10 years I wouldn’t have minded if they won the cup.
I have messaged Charmaine who was in a lot of pain after her eye procedure and said it was like having rocks in her eye! Painkillers are helping a bit but sleep is hard to come by.
I’m with you on all that cooking Lin. Gone are the days I want to go to all that effort. I just about put a meal together for one or two friends!
Bedtime for me. Take care

Happy Sunday! Lazy day on the computer playing games. Thinking of going for a walk since it's a beautiful day. Trying to plan a cruise in March with Cheryl and two other friends. We found a good deal now all we have to do is get everyone to agree. I have a grandson getting married in January in Florida and a granddaughter getting married in May in Virginia. Lots of traveling next year because I want to see my daughter finished remodel in Arizona and my son wants me to visit in Southern Illinois. I think I need a job. lol
Lin and Jackie, sorry you are having internet problems. I got an email Friday saying they got my cancellation request for my internet and TV from Xfinity. This is the second time this has happened and I never requested a cancellation. He said they are reducing my bill and adding more stations along with Apple TV and Netflix but I will believe it when I see it. They are also sending a new box so we will see.
Hi Barbie and critters.
Have a good day.

Hello, I received a plan update from my insurance company. I was just gutted to find out my beloved Silver Sneakers benefit will be unavailable in 2026. I have so enjoyed these classes, instructors, other participants. My life will be diminished, I really got a lot of happiness from everything that is offered. I will try to get the most out of the last 3 months while hunting for some type of substitute.
Sandy, a year of travel! I hope you can get everyone to agree on cruise details. Best wishes on getting your Comcast subscription sorted out. Extras would be nice. I really wish my Internet would just be fast and reliable. It never has been. My mobile phone service, when on cellular rather than WiFi, is also slow. I must live in a signal desert.
Jackie, I am glad you enjoyed your walk with George. Is he feeling fairly good now?
Barbie hello!

😀 Yard and garage cleanup are a slow but steady enterprise. My pumpkin patch yielded three small greenish pumpkins (the seed package said they would be blue). The sunflowers are tall and beautiful but starting to tip over. I have sunflowers in several vases in the house. The tomatoes are still producing. I am probably going to settle for thinning only one patch of iris this year.
😀 I pay a lot of money each month for internet/wifi from Astound but have been fortunate in getting consistently good connection. I go to a lot of Zoom meetings and watch a lot of streaming TV, so it's important.

Happy Monday! I have a hair appointment this morning for color and cut. Getting ready for out Casino trip next week. I had the weirdest day yesterday with Comcast. I googled how to activate the stream saver they offered me and one of the answers was from a different race but when I clicked on the link all of my Xfinity online account was in Spanish. I tried everything to correct it and couldn't figure it out. I went on their chat and was on it for over an hour with two different people. They claimed they were helping me but instead were trying to sell me a new package. The first guy was very polite and did not pressure me but the second guy was very pushy. He claimed it was taking some time to fix the langauge problem and insisted that I change my account because it was going to expire in the next month. He was very convincing so I agreed to the new package which is only $15 dollars more than the one I have now. But before he could fix the language problem my computer lost internet which I honesty believe he did something to cause that. I ended up calling Xfinity which I will do in the future and after another half hour he was able to fix everything. I am going to go to the store to talk to someone in person today because I now have two different emails with two different amounts from two different people. If I didn't like their internet so much I would get a new provider.
On that long drawn out post I will say have a great day.

Happy Monday. It seems George and I enjoyed the best part of the day walking on the moors this morning because clouds have now rolled up and it’s feeling colder. We stayed on a level, open area for nearly an hour but I felt uncomfortable when a man walking his dog some distance away decided to change course and come in our direction. I wouldn’t normally mind but he was dressed in black shiny clothes, including hat and gloves in warm sunshine and got so close that George went into protection mode and growled at him and his dog. He didn’t speak and I wasn’t scared but thought it best to slip George’s lead on and walk away towards the car park and noticed he watched us for a while before going in a different direction. We did see friendly horses that made up for Mr Weird!
I too had issues with my tv internet programmes yesterday. A friend told me there had been a programme on our Channel 5 about Cornwall during the day so I thought I would log on to their internet channel that shows all past and present programmes but when I scanned the digital box on my iPhone to log on it asked for my email address but then didn’t recognise it and asked me to register as a new member. First thing they want is my email but then I’m told my email already exists! Round in circles I go again!George’s groomer has booked his session on October 12th so I am trimming long hair around his face until she can visit. Her mother has developed some form of heart valve disease after the sepsis so remains in hospital and the prognosis isn’t good. I will hear all about it when she visits.
It’s cup of tea time and also time to feed the hens their afternoon corn.
Take care and stay safe.

Sandy, I hope your hair appointment went well and you are happy with the result. I hope you get the Comcast thing straightened out and you end up getting a good deal.
Jackie, I love the photo of George with the horses. I am glad you steered clear of that somewhat sketchy guy. Must not be overly trusting of strangers. Sorry technology seems to be at war with us. It would be lovely to have a few days with all tech things working properly.
I did finally get an appointment for repair on my Kinetico water system. Unfortunately the appointment isn’t until October 9th. Meanwhile, I will be mopping up water each day.
I made a trip to the credit union to get my CD renewed with the addition of a little bit of money. Most of the staff was at a different location training on the new system they are working to install. Unfortunately for me, there were problems with what I thought was a simple transaction. It took just under an hour to get things straightened with 3 calls to other branches asking for help. I was so glad when it was accomplished.
I called a friend and we talked for a while as she was sitting in the reception area at a law firm as her husband and grandson were trying to get something sorted out. She was recounting some of the problems they have faced recently. Is no one exempt????
Please take care everyone.

Happy Tuesday! I went to the Xfinity store and finally have everything done with a reasonable bill. Today I received a new Xfinity box which I am returning as I am happy with I have. I also had a package delivered with my address but not my name so I will take that to Fed Ex and tell them to return to sender. So much running around and wasting time. Tonight I am joining a friend for dinner. She was a volunteer for our Fest and they have a dinner for the volunteers and their guests so she invited me. Tomorrow morning I am taking Cheryl for her appointment for a breast biopsy. She wanted to drive herself but I insisted on driving her.
Lin, love my hair it was a much needed haircut. It is terrible to get an appointment anymore. I called my eye doctor to see if I could change an appointment I have in October but the next available would be January so I kept my appointment even though I will be spending the night at the kids house since Rob is going a work trip from Monday to Thursday. I have to be there at 6am so Lisa can leave for work and I can get the kids off to school so it will be easier to sleep there and go back home after they are in school and come back at night to sleep.
Jackie, I also love the picture of George with the horses, so cute. Technology is great except when it isn't. I am glad you were cautious with the strange man, you just never know.
Have a good day.

Nothing exciting or strange today! It was very foggy first thing so I didn’t go too far with George on the moors and kept an eye on him so he didn’t disappear, but he still managed to walk in mud along the way. That meant his baby bath with sudsy water to stand in when we got home! I managed more gardening once the fog lifted and late afternoon drove into town for a few items. George came with me so I could walk him round the block from the store because I was curious to see what has been built in what was once another car park. I don’t often look at what is happening in our town because it changed so much when a livestock market closed and small businesses connected to it also disappeared. A missed opportunity to my mind because offices have been put up when what is really needed is affordable housing. I need to come back as a politician in my next life!!
Lin, was it the Credit Union where a cashier couldn’t do basic maths on a transaction? Sounds like the new system isn’t helping much! Sorry you have such a long wait to repair your water system. We’re all in the same boat (no pun intended!) in trying to organise appointments.
Busy, busy Sandy. You put me to shame! Enjoy your dinner tonight.
Bedtime for me.
Take care and stay safe.

😀 My internet is expensive but has been consistently working. I use it for so many things that it's worth the expense.
😀 I thought briefly about starting to get my hair cut professionally and then realized that if it were shorter and styled, I'd have to maintain it with regular visits to a salon and that didn't sound appealing so I chopped off a few inches and called it good.
😀 Jackie, I feel so fortunate to have the safe environment in my neighborhood for walking alone and with my dogs. It's not as interesting or scenic as your walks with George. My longest walks are before 8AM so I rarely see anyone. When I walk with my friend at 4PM there are a few more people and sometimes a dog. On a clear day we can see the Olympic Mountains that are snow topped most of the year.
😀 Yesterday I skipped my usual 9AM Zoom meeting to go to the neighbourhood Fit and Fall Proof class. Its a professionally designed class of low impact simple exercises that can be done by anyone at any age or fitness level. The leader is a man who is a bit of a scene stealer in most settings but has the perfect personality to lead the class and maintain the momentum. Most of the participants attend regularly but the routines are easy enough to pick up immediately. Yes, I could do all that stuff at home, but I don't. I am a self starter and consistent walker but home exercise is something I haven't done consistently. Our clubhouse is less than a five minute walk away so I can get there easily, participate in the class, and be home in less than 90 minutes. Even so, Annie greets me like I've been gone for a month.
😀 If the rains holds off, I can do some work in the yard later, If not, there is always mopping and vacuuming. Yesterday I succeeded in changing the sheets without a dog in middle of the bed wanting to play.

Happy Wednesday! Taking Cheryl for her biopsy around 10am. Other than going to the bank later that is my day and I am okay with that.
Barbie, I am not good at exercise at home except for my recumbent bike and I have been lax on that during the summer because of how busy I am. For some reason I am at my lowest weight in years. I am sure it is because of how active I am and I do watch what I eat. I only have basic TV with internet. I too count on my internet so it is hard for me to switch from Xfinity because I love their internet. My bill will now be $105 a month but I have no premium channels. I do have friendly TV for $80 a year which would about $8 a month because it has the History Channel and Game Show Network which I love.
Jackie, there are always changes going on around here. Right now they have torn up the main street from my house and I haven't seen anyone working on it in days. I have no idea what they are doing but it is annoying. Glad you had a safe walk.
Lin, hope all is well.
Have a good day.

Hello, I ended up not feeling well late yesterday afternoon. I just quit for the day and got some extra sleep.
Jackie, the credit union I went to is the other one I belong to. I joined that one when I moved here in 1990. At that time, it was the employee credit union of the company I worked for. Things have changed a lot since then and they are usually pretty good but this system change has them a bit off kilter.
Sorry office space took over when shops and parking would be more useful for residents.Barbie, wow, Annie had to pine for your company for 90 minutes! And it is wonderful that you have a very safe neighborhood. It is not as safe here as it was when I moved in
Sandy, I hope Cheryl is okay. Good of you to take her for the biopsy.
Be happy my friends.

Thursday already. The days continue to fly by. This morning I went into town to shop and took George with me, thinking I could then bring the groceries home before putting my walking shoes on and walking on the moors. As I turned on to the track leading to my cottage I saw a large truck where neighbours and I park so turned round and went straight to our usual walking area, then remembered I had my new shoes on so stayed on a gravel path. Just as well too because it was another foggy morning. Chatted to a couple of dog walkers on the way round and luckily, when we got home the truck had gone so I could put my car away in my garage.
A quiet day after that because I had one of my rare blood sugar crashes that left me feeling drained. I did have a snooze on the sofa at some point and woke up feeling fine.
Barbie, I would love to see your Olympic Mountains on my walks. More hills than mountains for me!Sandy, I do hope Cheryl’s biopsy goes alright. She will have to wait for the result, right?
Lin, I do hope you are having a better day. So many changes and few of them for the better!
Off to bed for me. We had a whisper from the incoming storm this evening but all quiet now. More to follow tomorrow so a walk on the moors may not be recommended!
Stay safe.

Hello, my trip to the car dealership went well except they found several extra things that needed attention. I opted out of 2 of the 4 extra repairs. I hope I don’t regret it. Other than a drained wallet it was okay. Picked up a few groceries on the way home. Then right up on exercise. My Internet didn’t work well at that point.
Good evening and hope everyone is getting rest.

😥 No dancing this morning. I have to host a meeting on Zoom (all the other leaders are on vacation). In the evening at 6:30 which is what time I usually go to bed, I'm a five minute speaker on a panel that happens yearly. The dogs will be confused at staying up so late.
😱 I made myself crazy Wednesday night when I saw the email reminder about the need to make an appointment for Bessie's yearly wellness appointment. She can't get into the car by herself and I can't lift her (she weighs 50 pounds) so I need help. Last year, Jake called our friend and handyman to help and he put Bessie in the car, rode to the vet with me (that's when Jake wasn't allowed to drive) while Jake stayed home with Annie (that's when we weren't leaving her home alone). Then the friend got Bessie out of the car, waited in the waiting room while Bessie had her exam, lifted her back into the car and got her out again when we got home. He said I didn't need to pay him, but I did anyway. I started to worry about how I would handle it this year. Finally after worrying overnight, I texted the friend to see if he would do it again and he replied immediately that he'd be glad to. I can so easily make my self crazy.
😀 I'm better at dealing with more traditional needs like home and car repairs because there people and businesses that do those things, but where do you find someone to go on this crazy take your dog to the vet event?
