Happy Friday! I am meeting friends for lunch at noon and then an errand. Laundry has been started. We leave Monday morning for our casino trip so trying to get organized.

Barbie, I presume Bessie can't jump in the car by herself correct? It is hard to ask for help but people are willing to help if we do. I can't lift anything heavy so I have to rely on others to help me. You go to bed at 6:30? That is amazing since I go to bed at midnight. Of course I sleep to 8 and you get up at in the middle of the night. We do what works best for us right? 😍

Lin, I have to bring my car in soon and know they are going to find lots of extra things to fix. I wish I knew which were important and which I could say no.

Jackie, sorry about that sugar crash, are you diabetic or just a rare thing that happens when you don't eat? Yes, Cheryl will get her results next week. I am sure she is nervously waiting for the results but at least Marisa is back living with her so will keep her busy.

    Have a good day.

Happy Saturday! Family zoom call at 12:30 and then later going to see Max's soccer game. I will go to Lisa's house first as it is a long drive so we will go together.

Hope you all have a good day.

Hello. Nothing interesting yesterday and later in the afternoon my lungs were aching and last night I coughed and coughed for hours. That was unpleasant.

I am tuned in for the homecoming parade from my Alma mater University. It is the 150th birthday. I hope that it is interesting.

The only thing that took a long time yesterday was again a banking issue. The bank that has been generous with my renewal rates but my banker retired and the guy handling my business now doesn’t have as much sway with rates. Anyway, his boss said no more rate bumps since I didn’t have a checking account. So we worked on getting a checking account opened. I received a lot of documents to review via Docusign. That took a while. I put a check in the mail this morning to cover the minimal required deposit.

    Not a lot of fun.

    Be safe everyone.

Almost midnight. Our first winter storm arrived with heavy rain and gales so yesterday, after a short walk with George, I stayed at home. Two phone calls from friends, each with news of the death of people I knew and another who is terminally ill who is the kindest, most thoughtful person. She has gone to stay with her daughter in Yorkshire so no chance to visit.

Not much going on except I am collecting ingredients to make soft dog biscuits. I just have to wait for a banana to ripen and soften to add to the mix!

    Very smart teapot Lin!

    Enjoy the soccer match Sandy.

    Stay safe.

Happy Sunday! Going to Mass this morning and then an errand at Walmart. Will come home and pack for my trip tomorrow. We are meeting at ten at one of the ladies home who does the driving. Will be back Wednesday late afternoon. Wish me luck!!

Jackie, what a sad day for you with such bad news. I hope today is better and you and George can go for a nice walk.

Lin, I hope the parade was good, it must bring back good memories.

Barbie, hope you and Annie are doing well. I saw an episode of Shark Tank last night and someone was pitching a blow up doll to sit with your dog if they have separation anxiety. It is on Amazon but currently unavailable. Here is a snippet of the directions. Made me laugh.

    image.png

    Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

    • Important Note: As seen on Shark Tank. The Instructions for Gerty must be followed carefully for Gerty to be effective (Dress Gerty in old clothes, and introduce Gerty as if she were a real human for up to 24 hours). If the instructions are not followed correctly, Gerty will not work as expected

There were more instructions but thought you would get a giggle out of this.

Have a good day, I iwll try to check in while I am gone.

Happy Sunday. Gerty is hilarious Sandy and I can believe if she wears the owner’s clothes the scent should work. My friend Linda has told me her son and his wife always use specific calming music off YouTube and Spotify for their Labradoodle Henry and she noticed when she childminds her granddaughter and he is in the home with the music on, he’s incredibly chilled! Have you tried the special dog music on Annie Barbie?

I had a power cut first thing and assume a fallen tree was being cut and removed. No point staying at home so I took George for his walk on the moors and noticed how the temperature has fallen. It was still enjoyable and the power was back on when we returned. Unfortunately my milk dropped on to my cereal in a blob, obviously turned, so this afternoon I drove into town to replace it and also withdraw some cash for emergencies. My usual bank has closed and with others already gone, we are left with one Spanish bank branch. When I moved here the town was vibrant but today it is sadly quiet and run down. I took George with me for an afternoon stroll but could tell he would rather be on the moors!
I’m getting itchy feet again!! 👀

Lin, several friends currently have coughs that won’t go away and we are told a new Covid variant is giving people coughs. My friend Christine is suffering and knew about this Covid because the GP receptionist told her, so she got hold of a test which showed negative but then admitted it was an out of date test! We did laugh about that!

My afternoon cuppa is finished so I will check if the hens want corn.

    Stay safe.

😀 Sandy, Gerty is adorable but unfortunately Annie, with her powerful jaws and delight in chewing would probably pop the inflatable arm almost immediately and she expressed her affection for it.

😀 Jackie, I leave the TV on with music or a pleasant movie while I'm gone. Jake taught that to me years ago. He liked to leave the dogs classic country music to listen to.

😀 Lin, I hope you are feeling better.

😀 Starting tomorrow for a week, out neighbourhood will have an area set aside for bringing yard waste. I have two huge garbage bags filled with stuff and will have more as the week progresses. I'll be debating about what to do with the sunflowers and tomatoes that are still alive and healthy.

Hello, I spent yesterday with household chores, a few Zoom classes, tackling once again working on a design for Christmas cards and doing a bit of stamping. I tried to listen to the church service on YouTube but the lady who was at the pulpit has Parkinson’s and her voice is highly affected and I really could not understand much. The coughing comes and goes.

A number of locals are unwell. One lady in particular from my church has been to the doctor several times. I am told she tested positive for Covid, flu and pneumonia. Is that even possible? She is just resting at home and is taking several prescriptions.

Barbie, difficult decision regarding the tomatoes and sunflowers. In this climate it would be time to take them out as the weather can turn cold very quickly. Best wishes on that.

    Sandy, enjoy your trip!

Jackie, I heard of the heavy storm. I hope it is over now and you and your dear pets are safe. We are having a day of some rain and highs in the low to mid 60’s. Quite a change from the high 80’s. The wind isn’t gusting today which is good. Over the weekend it was hot, dry and windy. There were several fires in fields being harvested. Hello George.

Take care everyone. Back to my laundry!

😀 took two bags of yard waste to the drop off site, refilled them later to take today. I have the rest of the week to decide what to do about the tomatoes and sunflowers. I spend only about an hour a day dealing with the yard. The stuff I put in the bags wouldn't have been easy to put in the garbage can. Everything else can be discarded over time in the garbage can. My yard is a happy place for me.

😱 I learned the hard way that a birthday card with plastic googly eyes needs extra postage. I was so proud of myself that I had mailed grandson's card to him early enough, then it came back to me saying the postage was insufficient. I put it in a new envelope with a note and took it took it to the postage for the right postage. Also texted him to say that the card was in the mail. I had texted him on his birthday so the date had been acknowledged.

😀 Great granddaughters' birthdays are next week. They are a challenge. They are a year apart in age. I've never met them but have seen pictures. Their birthdays are a day apart. Meanwhile their mom broke up with her boyfriend and doesn't have a permanent address. She's the one I mailed Jake's ashes to. I texted her and found out that she is at a different friend's house now and not at the same address where I sent the ashes. She is fortunate to have friends who will take her in with two teenage daughters.

😀 My computer got a notice that it's time to upgrade to Windows 11 but the hardware is too old so it's time to shop for a new computer. Jake bought a new computer last November but all my important programs and files are on this computer so I paid a visit to the computer repair guy who helped me before. He explained the solution to me but said it would require leaving both computers with him overnight so I have to wait until I have back to back weekdays with no Zoom meeting to host. I can go to a Zoom meeting on my phone but I need the computer for all that's involved in hosting. I like and trust him and have the money to pay for the process.

😀 Annie did a great job this morning finding toys to play with and not demanding my undivided attention.

It has been a warm and sunny day so after a walk on the moors with George I continued to work in my garden. My friend Charmaine messaged me her plans to visit on Friday and stay overnight then return to her son’s university because he is about to complete work towards a Duke of Edinburgh gold award. It was set up by Prince Phillip as a fun way of challenging young people to achieve special goals. Tonight we enjoyed a view of a Harvest moon. It looks huge and is lighting up my garden!

Wow, Jackie, what a delightful photo!

Another mundane day. Crazy loud day here with a company taking down tree branches and putting them through a chipper. Wow!

Need to move along. I have been watching the usual Tuesday evening YouTube card class. Cannot sit any longer.

Barbie, good job Annie! Take the victories.

Oops! I’m sorry I missed checking in yesterday but I was clearing the spare room ready for Charmaine’s visit tomorrow. Piles of papers and more clothes to be got rid of which was a job I started but never finished. She will only be staying one night so I’m sure can accept one corner of the bedroom tidily piled high! This afternoon I attended the funeral of a lady in the village I knew. It was in our village church and the vicar was from another area that she had specifically requested even though he had retired. I got the impression he had found her difficult but intelligent in life, which was my thought too, but gave her a good send off and I discovered an extra cemetery in the middle of a housing estate I hadn’t known existed! She is at peace lying next to her parents.

It is late afternoon but I’m going to clean the shower room now rather than leave until tomorrow in case Charmaine arrives at the crack of dawn!

Good luck with the repairs Lin. It’s been too long for you to be dealing with a leak.

Pleased to read you enjoyed your trip Sandy. Welcome home!

    Stay safe

Hello, the technicians arrived late this afternoon and just spent some time diagnosing the problem. It cannot be fixed. They have to order a new unit and then I need to get back on the schedule for installation. It will be a few more weeks of mopping up water each day. They gave me a sort of estimate…..didn’t write anything down. I pretty much received a text in less than a half hour—-please post good reviews on all the social media apps. But no hint of when they they will be able to come back to do the work.

Jackie, have a pleasant visit with Charmaine. Staying with a friend overnight doesn’t allow for criticism ! 😁

WOW… seems like 100 years ago since I last checked in. Sandy, Lin and Barbie – you guys are amazing. For some reason, the old days of posting on Senior Golden Sneakers crossed my mind (what little I have).

Hope everyone is doing well. I've kept that 200 lbs off now for over 10 yrs with my intermittent fasting (yes I still do it 16:8) with a few small blips every once in a while but noting outrageous. I'll never forget the support and friendship of the group.

Hard to believe there is only 76 days until Christmas - time flies. This weekend, I‘ll likely stop back so I can read thru the posts of the last 6 months and see what everyone has been doing.

In the meantime – warmest wishes😊 to everyone! Bob

😀 The latest adventures with Annie, the two year old puppy—-she has been bringing both red and green cherry tomatoes into the house and playing with them like rocks or balls. Fortunately they aren't too juicy so they don't make too much mess on the carpet.

😀 As the season changes, I realize that I'm grateful to not have to pick tomatoes twice a day and am enjoying walking in the dark in the morning. Annie doesn't like the dark so she doesn't walk long so my walks are at least 60 minutes alone. My sunflowers are drooping and I hope they'll stay upright long enough for the birds to eat the seeds.

😥 The internet went out suddenly while I was online at a meeting. When I called the provider, my call dropped before they could connect me with an agent. It came back on less than an hour later shortly after I reminded myself how to use the DVD to put on a movie to keep the dogs entertained while I was outside

🎵 My dancing friend begged off walking yesterday because of a sore foot. I hope she'll be better so we can dance today. We haven't danced in awhile because she was on vacation for over a week and came back with a bad cold.

😀 Bob, what a pleasant surprise to see you again. Congrats on staying with your healthy plan.

😥 Lin, what a bummer to have to keep mopping water until the new installation.

😀 Jackie, having company is a good push to get things done. I hope it's a great visit.

Happy Saturday! Sorry I didn't post yesterday I had to be at my sons by 10 am so he could get a back injection because the kids were off from school for parent conferences. I went back home to go to Walmart and try on the dress I bought for my granddaughter's wedding which was delivered while I was gone. It's a beautiful dress but even though I ordered petite it's still too long. It has a sort of cape attached and my DIL thinks I might be too short for that style. I have 30 days to return it and she is coming in next Friday so I will try it on for her and see what she thinks. She would be the one hemming it for me. I later went back to my son's to take Max to soccer practice as my son's leg was sore from the injection. Today is a nothing day although I have been busy on my computer trying to get things done.

Bob, how nice to hear from you and congratulations on keeping the weight off. I too, have been successful in maintaining my goal weight or under. Right now I am almost 7 pounds lighter than my goal weight. I didn't need that reminder for Christmas, time is flying too fast. lol

Barbie, that Annie is a stinker but you have to love her. I am with Annie, I don't like the dark either. Good idea with the DVD player, as long as there is noise the dogs should be content.

Lin, what a mess, I am so sorry it is going to take longer to fix your problem. What exactly are they replacing? Busy Thursday but today is my day.

Jackie, enjoy your visit with Charmaine. Always nice when good friends visit. Sorry about your friend who passed but it sounds like a nice service.

Time to fold the clothes and make another call to the medical people who sent me a bill that I shouldn't receive. It is the third time they are sending the same bill and each time they say they will take care of it.

    Have a good day.

Hello, good news, I have an appointment for the repair guys to return and fix my water conditioning system. Next Thursday afternoon. Meanwhile the leak has become more serious. I have to check every few hours. Thank heavens my basement is unfinished.

Good to hear from you Bob. Thanks for the update.

Sandy, I hope that dress will work out for you.

Barbie, I hope your friend’s foot is better. Did you get to dance today?

😱 My friend texted this morning that her foot was still bad, so no dancing. I was determined to not waste the time so I thought for a few minutes and remembered that I'd been trying to figure out a time to get my flu and covid shots. I loaded Annie into the car and headed for town. I decided to stop at the bank first and get some cash. The bank wasn't open yet (it was 8:55) so instead of going to the drive through, I parked the car and waited by the door. I had a pleasant chat with a woman who thought the bank opened at 8. The teller was quick and offered to get me a balance or an envelope which I declined so I asked her for a dog biscuit for Annie since we missed the drive through. She was happy to oblige. The pharmacy was happy to give me vaccines as a walk in without an appointment so my morning was well spent.

Happy Saturday! Nothing going on until Church and then to Cheryl's SIL for dinner. We take turns making dinner but not very often so it has been a few months. I was chilled so put my heat on to warm up the place a little.

Barbie, good for you, I want to get my shots as well so thanks for the reminder. I think I will try to go tomorrow. Glad Annie got her treat from the bank.

Lin, happy to hear you will have a new water system next week and can stop mopping up water in your basement.

😀 I'm glad I got the vaccines but I did suffer a few side effects. I had trouble sleeping and felt horrible when I got up. Fortunately I had no obligations other than walking and feeding the dogs. I got a few naps sitting on the couch with Annie and was feeling better by afternoon. I got my 10,000 steps and ate my regular meals. Today I am feeling like my regular self.

😀 Further adventures with Annie. I'd like to vacuum, but first i have to pick up the rocks, cherry tomatoes, and scraps of toys that's she's chewed up, then I have to put her outside because she puts her nose right up to the vacuum and barks while the machine is running. I'd like to do laundry but she grabs items out of my hands as I carry things from the bathroom to the laundry room. She doesn't chew on any of the items but when I try to pick them up, she grabs them away again. As long as I am sitting in my chair or on the couch or riding the exercise bike, she'll lie quietly nearby.

Happy Sunday. I had a busy and enjoyable couple of days with my friend, finishing with a dog walk on the moors yesterday and Cornish pasty! Our dry, mild weather continues so I’m taking the opportunity to continue pruning, cutting grass and burning what I can in the incinerator. George’s groomer visited this morning so thank goodness, his overgrown coat has been cut quite short again. Her mother remains in hospital and sadly is coming to terms with an end of life diagnosis because an infection has got into her heart and being in her mid 90’s, her immune system isn’t strong enough to fight it. She can go home though, once arrangements have been made, but understandably Debbie will have to prioritise caring for her rather than her grooming business.

Lin, I’m so sorry to read that your leak has got worse. Water can be so destructive so Thursday can’t come soon enough. Can’t your repair guy make an earlier emergency visit? A gorgeous pink tea set! ❤️

Well done for maintaining your goal Bob. Are you still taking lots of wonderful photos?

I’m still considering whether to have a flu jab and am getting plenty of text reminders so can’t easily forget it!

    My bedtime so take care.

Barbie, Annie does cause some extra fuss. Glad the injections didn’t cause too much suffering. Glad you got your steps in as well as some naps.

Jackie, glad you had fun with your friend and happy George got a nice trim.

Well zipping down to the basement repeatedly is a good thing I guess. I expect both my water bill and my gas bill to be higher this month.

Thursday cannot get here fast enough.

The plumbing and heating guys are coming to service my furnace and humidifier on Tuesday.

Be well everyone and enjoy the holiday.

Happy Monday! A nothing day for me so I hope to catch up on all my shows. So far all I have is a sore arm from my vaccines and I can deal with that. I have to order some groceries to be ready for John and Laurie's visit on Friday-Monday. This morning we had low clouds, drizzle and very murky light so I didn’t rush to take our walk because it was also cold and I knew George would be missing his fur coat. When we did walk I took him along the lowest path that was still in the clouds and carried on for an hour because he was enjoying himself so much. He did wear one of his raincoats to keep him warm. It felt good to walk so far, including a long, steady climb up to another track back to the car park. It hasn’t been gardening weather so some of the Buddleia branches pruned yesterday are still waiting for me to cut up.

My hair has grown far too long but I’ve an appointment in the morning and afterwards will stop at a new store in the town the salon is to get a few ideas for Christmas presents.

    Take care
