Happy Tuesday! Home to about 3, then going to sit with kiddos. Lisa has volleyball and Rob is taking Max to soccer practice unless he gets home late from work than I will. Lisa booked me for Tuesdays in October so she could join a volleyball league. Not sure about November.
Like Lin, nothing exciting going on here. Have a good day.

Hello, my furnace was serviced today. I was quite happy with the team that was here. An experienced technician training a smart gal. They listened to me and were meticulous on the service and associated paperwork. I was pleased with them. I like people who don’t duck questions and are glad to explain things.
I started to look at options for a birthday card for a friend who hates that her birthday is on Halloween.
My friend had surgery yesterday but I haven’t heard anything about how she is getting along. I hope she is okay.
Otherwise, I continue to be busy with the job of cleaning up water. Only a couple of days until they are supposed to be here to replace the leaky tank. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Be safe everyone.Lin 🙋🏼♀️

Happy Wednesday. A cold and rather grey start to my day but at least it’s dry enough for me to wash a load of laundry. George was happy to trot across the moors with a coat on but I did notice him shivering slightly when we got back into the car so turned the heater on full blast! Back home he has enjoyed cooked chicken and is snoozing on my bed while I make plans to prepare a chicken casserole and also make dog biscuits now that a banana has ripened. If it remains dry I will spend time in my garden this afternoon. My laundry is currently hanging on an airer in the dining room but it will go outside if it brightens.
This photo was taken Friday night, enjoying fish and chips at the local with Charmaine and shows how wild my hair was! Cut and tidied yesterday so I’m back in charge!
My hairdresser’s French Bulldog was in the Salon and very subdued so when I told her about George’s teeth extractions and how much better he was feeling, she said she will persuade her husband to book a vet appointment for him because his breath isn’t great!
Good job Lin! Your furnace is serviced so you should be cosy in the coming Winter months. Nearly Thursday! My school friend messaged yesterday to let me know her sister recommended she watch a series on our Drama channel called Harry Wild so I watched an episode last night. My friend then sent a “don’t blame me” message this morning apologising for her sister’s recommendation! A ridiculous storyline and amateurish, even with Jane Seymour playing the main character so definitely one to avoid.Hello to Sandy and Barbie, plus anyone else checking in.
Take care and stay safe.

Happy Wednesday! Kind of chilly today so will dress warm for our luncheon today. It is one of the four amigos birthday Saturday, she will be 91. We are celebrating today as she will be with family on her actual day. We call ourselves sisters not by blood but by love.
Jackie, nice picture, I think you look great even with longer hair. I am with George, I get chilled easy so hate being outside during the winter months.
Lin, I am glad your furnace is serviced and you had intellegent people explaining things. Now to get that leak fixed tomorrow.
Barbie, hope all is well with you and the critters.
Have a good day.

😀 I have replanted nearly all of the special iris I pulled up and thinned. There are about ten more tasks to do outside to get the yard ready for winter. If I do one each day, I'll be finished by the end of October. Then I can tidy the garage.
😀 By the time I do yard work for the day, I have no mental energy for calling and making appointments. I need to call for an appointment to have a bone density test. Medicare pays only every two years and my last one was in October two years ago and I don't see my doctor until February so there's no hurry. It's time to call and schedule the yearly maintenance for my furnace and heat pump. It has generally been done in December.
😀 I consistently go to my meetings on Zoom, eat my regular meals, ride my exercise bike, walk, and spend time with the dogs. I have lots of time for reading and have a new book waiting for me at the library so Annie and I will drive over there when they open this morning. I ordered several used books from eBay to fill in series' that I'd started but couldn't find the next book at the library or paperback swap.
😀 Even in our good weather, I see very few people in my neighbourhood outside.
😀 Sandy, I'm am consistently colder than other people. I routinely wear long sleeves and long pants. I often wear three long sleeve shirts and sometimes a hat in the house and keep the thermostat at 72 during the day. Outdoors I have warm jackets and hats and in the winter wear fleece leggings under my long pants.
😀 Lin, when I was doing all my closet cleaning I wondered why I kept so many older towels since Jake stopped bathing the dogs at home about ten years ago. Then when Annie tipped over a giant water bowl and I had towels to mop up the water, I knew why I had them. It has been years since I've had trouble with dishwasher, washer, or water heater, but i's reassuring to have the towels just in case. It must be so frustrating for you to have all that water to mop up for so long.
😀 Jackie, You look great. Going out to lunch is a nice treat.

Finally it is Thursday and just a couple of hours until the techs are to show up. I wonder how long my water will be off?
🤞🏻🤞🏻that I have talented personnel working on this job
Be safe everyone.Jackie, I love the photo. Your hair looked fine to me. Nice plate of fish and chips by the way.
Barbie, you are on track to completing your outdoors work. Excellent. Hope you picked up your book at the library. The weather here is too severe to wait until December for a furnace checkup unless you are trying to skip a year. My dad did that. He switched the air filter himself and had the furnace folks come to vacuum out the furnace etc. every couple of years. Saved some money.
Sandy, how wonderful to have friend sisters. ❤️❤️
Must keep moving along.Lin 🙋🏼♀️

I’m thinking of you Lin and keeping fingers crossed your leak is finally fixed.
A beautiful day, warm and sunny so after a long walk with George I set up to cut wood for the wood burner, donated by friend Linda’s neighbour, then dug out overgrown Comfrey that had spread too far. Rain is forecast for the weekend so tomorrow, apart from shopping first thing and the usual walk with George, I will continue with my garden chores. Bags of enriched compost need to be spread round the flower beds but I might leave that job until after the visit next month of the gardener who will cut back boundary hedges otherwise he will be walking all over it!
It is nearly bedtime so I will wish you all goodnight.

😀 I got my new book "We'll Prescribe You Another Cat", mailed a book to another paperback swap member, and did yard work that included using the leaf blower to clean off the driveway, patio, and sidewalks. I had to put Annie in the house because she tried to bite the leaf blower. I was glad I did that yesterday because today started with drizzle and I needed dry surfaces for the leaf blower to work.
😀 Lin, fingers crossed for success with your water repair.

Happy Friday! Laundry has been started and catching up on computer. John and Laurie will arrive between 3 and 4 so I have time to tidy up the house with a quick vaccum and dusting. They will be here until Monday when Laurie goes to her migraine doctor downtown. I will probably spend the night at Rob's Sunday since I don't want to get up at 5:30 to drive to their house in the morning, although I might change my mind. Not sure what our plans are with the kids as Max has soccer games tonight, tomorrow and possibly two on Sunday if the make it to the championship which sad to say but probably not. Laurie had Covid two weeks ago even though she had the booster and her doctor told her to be careful so she doesn't get pnuemonia. She is leery of going to see the kids since they are in school and around other kids and crowds. It might just be me and John who visit if at all.
Have a good day everyone, I slept in today and I am behind.

Hello. The techs were here yesterday afternoon but only one of two tanks had arrived. The other is on back order. The one they had was installed and has stopped the leak for now. They have no idea when the other one will arrive. They have none in stock so many people may be in need of repairs and they will all be waiting. Now I can catch up on my normal laundry.
My friend who had surgery in Iowa City on Monday did get back to town on Tuesday evening. I tried to get in touch with her and she did finally respond to a text message saying she really did not feel at all well. I called a mutual friend and she told me she had called her and it was unusual but she didn’t want to talk and didn’t want a visit. That was upsetting. This morning I found out her family had taken her to the emergency room. They kept her and she is being treated for very low blood pressure and is receiving blood transfusions. I am very concerned for her.
Sandy, a busy few days on the way. I am sorry Laurie had Covid recently. Hope she is feeling well.Jackie, hello to you and George. I hope you do not have a rainy weekend.
Barbie, glad you got your books sorted. Now are you expecting a rainy weekend? It’s big deal Friday night high school football game matchup. Meanwhile, the forecast indicates rain may be rolling in later this afternoon. I am sure all the friends and family will ignore the weather in order to root for their team.
Time to work on a birthday card.
Be well everyone.

Nothing much going on today. I popped George in my car, drove to town for some groceries then walked him on the moors. A rather grey start to the day with heavy clouds hanging over us but I could see bright blue skies along the coastline so knew at some point the day would become brighter. The sun did appear in the afternoon so I got a few more jobs completed in my garden. Rain arriving tomorrow afternoon followed by unsettled days or, as a weather forecaster said, soggy, not foggy!
Only half a job done Lin but thank goodness, that pesky leak is repaired. I’m so sorry about your friend being unwell. Hopefully blood transfusions will help improve her condition. She is in the best place for now.
Enjoy your visitors Sandy. Busy as ever! Good luck Max! ⚽️
Barbie, my latest “toy” in the garden is a leaf blower and I wonder why I didn’t buy one years ago! My getting older has something to do with looking for easier options, that’s for sure!
Take care

Happy Sunday. Nearly midday but I haven’t walked George yet because there is a gale blowing rain in a horizontal direction! Nothing more than some housework planned and a Google search for a few Christmas cards. I try to start looking early each year but always end up in a rush so let’s see what happens this year!
Another teapot full of Eastern promise Lin!
Enjoy time with your family Sandy.
Take care

Happy Sunday! Not much time again as I am going to Mass at 11:30. We saw the kids yesterday and had a great dinner at Wildfire. Not sure what we are doing today. I will be leaving them to spend the night at Rob's to get the kids off to school in the morning. I will come back home for my eye appointment and go back tomorrow night to do it again and every night until Thursday when Rob returns from New York.
Hope all are well and staying healthy. Have a good day.

😀 I continue to check off items on the list of things to do to get the yard ready for winter. During the rainy part of the day I worked in the garage. Making good progress. My walking friend is back from two weeks in Texas so we walked together in the afternoon. Annie walked with us but the wind and two little white dogs made her crazy so we took her home and walked more by ourselves.

It has been a windy and wet Monday so George had a walk round a local field with its historical burial stones. I accidentally timed it right because it stopped raining while we were out. When we came away from the site I cut through the edge of the village on a very narrow lane for a short cut to the local store and although I hadn’t heard one vehicle drive past the field as we walked, I met a car on the narrowest bend. Over the years I’ve come to recognise drivers who have no intention of reversing because they nudge forward to get ever closer so back I went and once he got past me on a wider section I raced on before anyone else came along!! The rest of my day has been quiet but I have been looking at indoor jobs and will get myself organised in the morning to start because it looks like we are going to have a wet and windy week.
Take care everyone.

Hello….a chilly morning with strong winds. Time to look for a warm jacket to wear as I do some errands this morning. Nothing exciting here of late. Household tasks and Zoom classes. I did call a friend yesterday and we had a very long conversation. We are officially caught up. And as that conversation ended another friend called and we had a nice conversation as well. All of her family will be gathering for Thanksgiving at a restaurant in an Amish village. They like it, no one has to cook or clean and they can eat, talk, and laugh as long as they want. Sounds like a good solution for them.
Jackie, your narrow lanes are so dangerous. I am glad you are okay. Take care during your wet and windy weather.Barbie, excellent progress on your chore list. Well done.
Sandy, I hope your eye appointment went well.
Be safe my friends.

Happy Tuesday! Back home after sending kids off to school. I will be going back this afternoon to take Max to soccer practice and spend the night again. This waking up early is for the birds. (pun intended) I will be glad when Rob returns from New York on Thursday. I am booked for the weekend with a Gala on Friday night, a birthday part for a one year old on Saturday and a Black Hawk hockey game on Sunday. And next week is busy again. I need a vacation! lol
Trying to catch up on my computer and have to pack an overnight bag again. Have a good day.

Here I am Sandy! Yesterday turned out to be busy because we were forecast a dry morning so, after hanging laundry out to dry then walking George on the moors, I drove to the town about 10 miles away where my hairdresser is based. A new store was advertising all sorts of bargains as well as Crown emulsion paint the colour I used in my snug. I need to freshen up the walls! They also sell deep fitted sheets that I use on my bed but I thought it very disappointing and actually in a mess with rather tacky Christmas items stacked high. I did manage to find the last pot of paint of my required colour but the bedding was mostly poor quality. I found one pack, double the price of all the others, made of bamboo cotton that feels soft and is apparently “thermoregulating”, whatever that means!! I picked up groceries at another store then freturned home just in time to take my laundry in because within 10 minutes it was raining again.
This morning I have been waiting for heavy showers to clear so George can have his walk. It is turning colder some won’t go far. Charmaine has messaged to let me know Aldi stores have the comfortable walking socks in that she once gave me, now twice the price, so I will drive into town and hopefully find they have in my size.
The sun is shining so I will again attempt to go for a walk. Every time I put my coat on another shower arrives!
Gosh Sandy, you are busy!
Similar weather Lin! Take care and keep warm.
I’m off to test our weather!

Yesterday was a nasty day. I was so dizzy all day and couldn’t do the errand I was planning on. I was able to eat but otherwise was glad to not have fallen.
Today is a better day. I did get my donations for the homeless project boxed up and took them over to a friend’s home and left them in her attached breezeway. Thank goodness that is off my list.We had a heavy frost this morning. It was chilly out there.
Just have chores on my list for today.

Happy Thursday! I am home and must admit, exhausted. I skipped my meeting to take the day for myself. I am doing some laundry as I want to try and get my prescription for my glasses filled tomorrow. Rob will be home later tonight so all is good. I hope to catch up on my sleep tonight for my busy schedule.
Lin, sorry you were dizzy, that is a terrible feeling. I think I mentioned that Babe has an autoimmune disease that made him dizzy all the time sometime worse than others. It is cold here as well and my heat is on.
Jackie, you also have a busy schedule with all that you do. Glad you found your paint and I think sheets, you sort of confused me but that's easy to do. lol
Barbie, hope all is well with you.
Have a good day.

🌻 My latest adventures have been computer related. I've known for a long time that I'd have to upgrade to Windows11 but didn't want to have to deal with it. Jake's computer that he bought shortly before he before he died has Windows 11 but all my files are on my much older computer (it had Windows 7 when I bought it). When I got a reminder that support for Windows 10 was ending, the reminder told me that my computer was too old for Windows 11 and I should shop for a new computer. Thinking it might be a scam luring me into buying a computer I didn't need, I took the computer to Parker, the wonderful computer repair guy who has solved other problems for me. He confirmed that my computer was too old to support Windows 11 and told me what was necessary for me to move all my files and programs to Jake's new computer. Since it would require leaving both computers overnight, I had to wait until I had a few days when I wasn't hosting meetings on Zoom. I saved my most important files onto flash drives. I took both computer to Parker on Monday and didn't get them back until Wednesday. Fortunately I still had the disc from QuickBooks so I didn't have to buy new software (very pricy). Once home, I found that I had to look up passwords for sites that I used to be able to get to automatically. There are more adjustments about the location of the computer—-not unlike moving furniture—and where to put things that I'm used to having near the computer. Being a creature of habit is a good thing until things change.
🌞 The weather has been nice enough for me to continue my projects to get ready for winter but rain is predicted starting today and for the next week. I'll walk in the rain but won't work in the yard.
😍 Larissa said that she'd probably drive up for a long weekend at the beginning of November and at first I thought it sounded a long way off until I realized that it was already the middle of October,.
🐶 Annie stole a dryer ball as I was emptying the dryer so now the carpet is full of black fuzz.

Happy Friday! Felt good to sleep in my own bed but wish I could have slept longer. Trying to decide where to go for glasses since I have problems with new glasses because of my stignatism along with my macular degeneration. I wish I had a membership to Costco because they were the best in filling my last one when my son and DIL took me. Is it worth the $65 to join just for glasses? I don't buy in bulk and have my groceries delivered from Walmart so I don't have to carry them up the 14 stairs to my condo. Tonight is the Gala fundraiser but wish I could cancel but won't. The party for the one year old was cancelled for tomorrow as the child has hand, foot and mouth disease. The mom is very upset as she invited 65 people and had many preparations already purchased. Not sure if there will be a raincheck. I am sorry for the child but glad I have the day to myself.
Barbie, always something isn't there? I am glad you have a guy that can help you with the computers. My son is my guy, he used to be a computer troubleshooter before he retired. Little Annie is in trouble again but she is so cute.
Have a good day and stay healthy.
