😃A lot of wind made the yard messy but did no damage. Power popped off for a moment but came right back. Annie brought in a small branch to chew on so now the carpet has branch debris along with pieces of dog toys and the dryer ball. It's good exercise for me to pick up all this stuff.

😃 I'm finding new and useful things about the new computer and Windows 11.

😱 The time change doesn't happen here until next week but I connect via Zoom with people in Scotland it will confuse me all week until the time change here.

😎 Sandy, I've always thought of my Costco membership as a recreation expense. Jake was convinced that we saved money and I didn't argue. I like their optical and vision department and I like buying boneless skinless chicken in their big packages to cook in bulk and freeze in single size portions or use to make chicken soup to freeze in individual servings so I'll continue my membership. I like walking around and seeing all the goofy things that people will buy.

😀Lin, your blueberry pancakes sound yummy, but a lot of work. It's good that you had time to work on cards.

😰Jackie, when I watch Escape to the Country and all the quaint villages, I think of you and the narrow roads you drive on. I love the houses, shops, and beautiful countryside but would be terrified on the roads. Is Cornwall where you live?

Hello, sorry I didn’t touch base yesterday. I did some cooking, tried to do my Zoom classes but overnight storms hit the areas where some instructors reside and they were dealing with power and Internet outages. Add on top of that, the music that is approved to use for the classes was unavailable as the server was down. That made for a bad morning for some folks.

A friend called to let me know she and her hubby were going on a sort of spur of the moment trip for their anniversary. They are going back to what used to be an annual destination, Maui. That was pleasant.

Later was a not so pleasant communication. A good friend has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. This was totally unexpected. She hadn’t been feeling 100% so went to the doctor. I was quite sad and upset the rest of the day.

The other friend I mentioned who was rushed to emergency more than a week ago is still in the hospital. They did a couple of procedures and are stabilizing her blood loss. This start to cancer treatment certainly has not gone smoothly.

Jackie. An extra hour sleep, did you actually get extra rest? It does take a while for laundry to dry when not using some type of electric or gas dryer. I hope you can wear those new socks soon.

Sandy, congrats on winning those earrings. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I hope you got some rest overnight. Wow, that is a big order of glasses. I hope that works.

Barbie, hello and I hope you have worked out the locations of everything around the computer.

    Take care.

Happy Sunday! I will be going to Mass this morning as I just stayed in yesterday. Later we are going to a Chicago Black Hawk Hockey game. I am not a big sports fan but it is fun to watch them in person. One of my doctor's appointments was changed as he had a family emergeny and was rescheduled for December. Good thing it is the dermatologist and not the primary doctor.

Lin, my DIL would have loved that pancake.

Jackie, glad you got your socks, hope they keep your feet warm. Our weather is starting to change as well although for almost November the temps are still pretty mild. I haven't heard of that invention but whatever works is fine with me. Mine is the dry kind, I think the wet is more severe but not sure.

Not much time so have a good day.

Happy Monday! Hockey game was fun even though the Hawks lost 3-1. I did not sleep well so hopefully I can nap before my doctor's appointment. I am not a good napper but might try. Other than that nothing else going on.

I hope you all are well and staying healthy. We never talk about our weight goals but I think we are all doing well. I, for one am 5 pounds under my goal weight and flucuate even lower. I think it is age related although I am a creature of habit and eat the same foods every day except when out for dinner. I even enjoy a glass of wine while watching TV so life is good.

    Have a great day everyone.

I lost my post! One minute here, the next gone. Miserable weather with constant showers so even my hens are having to put up with old bedding until I catch a moment to clean their house.

I am using the extra hour to get myself out and on the moors walking just after 8. It was blowing a hooley this morning but it was still enjoyable. A quiet day at home so looking at how to move furniture and stack books ready for fresh paint on the walls downstairs. I just have to motivate myself to get started initially then I’ll be fine!

Yes Barbie, I live in the county of Cornwall and have done so since late 80’s. We have a mild climate but lots of rain blowing in off the Atlantic. It is becoming a popular place for more and more moving out of large towns and cities but few have common sense on our narrow roads so I always drive defensively.

Sandy, I continue to watch what I eat, in fact probably more so as I get older. I can happily live on fruit, salads and veggies so don’t bother to log meals.

Lin, the clocks going back suits my morning routine but I am already missing the lighter evenings. I’m so sorry you have more bad news about a friend’s diagnosis.

My bedtime so I’ll wish you a good evening. Stay safe.

Happy Tuesday! Home until about 3:00 when I go to kids house to either take Max to soccer practice or Rob will and I will stay home with the other two. It depends when he can leave the office. Tomorrow I have an appointment with my finance guy in the morning and then taking my car in for oil change where they always find something extra to repair. I went to my gastro doctor yesterday and he gave me wonderful news with no more colonoscopies even though my mother died from colon cancer. He said after 80 it is not necessary unless there is some real problem like bleeding. (sorry TMI?) He made my day since I dread that test. I really like him as he explains everything and is very nice but mostly because he corrected my issues.

Jackie, I do not log food either as I weigh myself everyday and my weight stays around the same so I am happy. Sorry you get so much rain, I hate driving in rain so happy we mostly get good days. Our clocks go back Saturday and I hate that it will get dark so early.

    Hello to Lin and Barbie.

    Have a good day.

A beautiful day for a change and although breezy, I took George to the very top moors and we both did very well walking uphill. We didn’t rush so he could have fun checking out all the doggy scents. My first job back home was to clean out the hen house and also repair the plastic cover over their run that got damaged when it was very windy. Lots of stretching of arms and neck so I’m not sure how secure it is. I guess the next windy day will be the test!
I received sad news that my friend with cancer who was staying with her daughter in Yorkshire, has passed away. Her funeral will take place with family in that county but a memorial gathering is being organised in our village at a later date.

Great news Sandy that you don’t have to endure any more colonoscopies. Thankfully I’ve never had one but know from friends that have, it’s an unpleasant experience.

Dreadful weather in Jamaica. My heart goes out to everyone caught up in it.

Tomorrow I am picking Linda up and we will go for coffee and cake somewhere. I’ve just let George into my garden and it’s raining!!

    Take care.

Hello. Wet day here today and the rain is expected to continue tomorrow.

I went to a dental appointment this morning. I was surprised my dental hygienist was not in the office. The receptionist said she tried to call me but I didn’t answer. I told her I was in the middle of a live presentation but the phone indicated the caller was leaving a message. I did not receive one. Odd. Anyway my hygienist was with family as the newest grandchild was born and has many problems with the heart. Apparently the first surgery will be soon.

I guess this whole thing forced my dentist to take over since they couldn’t get in touch with me. That is fine with me. He asked me to give him a grade since he doesn’t do these routine things often. 😆

Jackie, enjoy the coffee and cake expedition. Hope you find something delicious.

Sandy, glad you are excused by your doctor from further colonoscopies. Yes! When my dad’s doctor said no further tests were required, he was upset as he wanted to continue to be checked. He had never had anything discovered at all but was just always concerned about his health.

I found out my friend who has been in the hospital for a number of weeks is still there. She most recently had a bowel blockage and had to be treated for that. They are trying to get her up and around so she can tolerate a trip to Iowa City for her first cancer treatment.

    Be safe everyone.

😀All is well here with nothing new or interesting. Periods of drizzle and sunshine allowed me to make more progress on my yard including blowing off leaves and pine needles from the driveway. A few sunflowers are still standing.

Happy Wednesday! I have an appointment with my finance guy this morning and then taking my car for an oil change and who knows what else. Rob has to work late tomorrow so I am going back so Lisa can get her hair done and I will take Max for soccer practice until she gets there to relieve me. Charlie and I stay in the car since it is just for practice because it gets too cold.

Still have to eat and get ready so have a good day.

A busier day than anticipated for me. It was cool and drizzly when I got up but after breakfast I took George round the block then loaded my car with a few promised items for Linda. A spare plastic cover to attach to the side of her greenhouse where a panel had dropped out, a Sedum plant I had got started by placing a cutting in a vase of water and a few packs of dog chews that George can no longer eat. Her son’s family have a dog called Henry who, being a Labradoodle, will love them. I collected her from home and drove to a coffee shop so we could spend time catching up on news. By the time we left the sun had come out and we have enjoyed a bright afternoon. Robbie the Smithy turned up after lunch to remove the door from my dining room wood burner and also had good news that he had persuaded the supplier of the chimney liner that is already breaking up after only 3 years, to replace it for free. The door will be returned tomorrow with new glass! Soon after he left my friend Pat phoned to tell me about her 2 weeks in Spain with a lady she only recently met. I had thought it was a risky adventure and it turned out they didn’t have much in common so fraught at times!

An attractive photo Lin, with the bamboo plants and unusual plate.

    Time for my bed!

    Stay safe.

Hello, second tank installed. The technician asked me to check every couple of hours to make sure nothing is leaking. 👀

Off in the morning to pay for the services. Hopefully I will be able to stop by the gas station that is quite close and get a fill. That place is super popular for customers getting gas and morning breakfast or treats. I hope I can get a pump!

Barbie, glad you had a lovely time at the neighborhood potluck. 👍🏻👍🏻

Sandy, I hope Rob got home early enough to take Max to practice.

Jackie, did Robbie the Smithy show up to continue the work on your home?

Only a short walk this morning because I had to be home when Robbie returned the wood burner door. It was cool and threatening to rain so I was glad to get home. Robbie was here for some time making sure everything was right but also telling me about his family history recently discovered in a national museum of chimney sweeps. When he became a chimney sweep he knew nothing of the history going back hundreds of years so quite a coincidence!

Later I phoned Sheila who did get her procedure on her back at the hospital yesterday so is finally pain free. I will visit her tomorrow for a proper catch up. Also drove into town for a few groceries and that was another day done!

    Take care everyone.

Happy Friday! Laundry is started and later a mani/pedi. Nothing else so that makes me happy. Rob did get home in time to take Max to practice so I got home early and was glad. Busy weekend with a celebration of life for my cousin tomorrow at noon follwed by an event with our num friend at 4 or 5. Sunday is Max's soccer game and I think it is his last one but not sure.

Jackie, Robbie sounds like an interesting man who knows his profession. Happy for your friend who had the back procedure, do you know what they did? My back doctor is talking about an ablasion for my back but I am not sure what that means but it sounds good.

Lin, yipee, finally got the second tank installed and hopefully no more leaks. I hope you also got a pump for gas.

Barbie, hope all is good in your neck of the woods.

Have a good day and weekend.

Happy Friday. It has been very windy but mild so I decided to skip our usual walk on the moors and instead took George to Sheila’s home and persuaded her to put a coat on and come out for a stroll in her village. Her back feels good but hips aching, probably because she hadn’t been able to walk much for several months before the procedure.
Sandy, Sheila doesn’t tend to ask questions of doctors so couldn’t say exactly what was done. A wire attached to a camera was used to insert into her back until she felt pain and that indicated an area of nerve that she thinks was then deadened. She has to keep a diary for a couple of weeks on any pain or discomfort she feels, then send it to the doctor to analyse.

Robbie is a perfectionist and over the years I’ve got to know him well. His partner has been dealing with cancer for a few years which put their plans on hold to sell the business and move to Scotland.

Lin, I do hope your water leaks are repaired and everything that needed to be done was.

Not much else happening. I did have a fire in the log burner just to test it and was delighted how easily it burnt. I’m now off to bed.

    Stay safe.

Hi, got my check dropped off and yes Sandy, I did get an open pump without a wait! Yippee! I have been checking the tanks in the basement. Looks like there are no leaks. There is only one problem, this morning the faucet that delivers filtered but not softened water, blew air and water all over me. The line seemed to have air in it again. I ran it yesterday and it was okay. We will see what happens tomorrow. I think the latest install should have had a longer period of water run through it. And actually the faucet in my upstairs bathroom also blew out an air/water mix. And it too was fine the prior evening.

Jackie, yippee, glad you tested out a log and all is working well! Nice of you to go on a -little walk with Sheila. I hope she recovers well. It was just over freezing here this morning. My neighbor waited a couple of hours to walk their little dog. The little doggie does not wear booties and not even a jacket often.

Sandy enjoy your busy weekend. Did the kiddos go out to collect treats last night or tonight? My friends have a little guy who likes to wear costumes. They took him to 3 different places to collect treats. In the old days, we just walked a bit around our neighborhood. We didn’t go anywhere else. I wonder why kids now have to go out multiple times and in different towns to be happy. Not my issue, just wondering.

    Be safe everyone.

I am ready for the Sunday morning fall back to standard time. I am tired of dark morning. Now to switch to late afternoon darkness.

Happy Sunday. I’m dodging heavy rain showers between beautiful sunshine and so far winning! Housework when I’m indoors and a few outdoor jobs when I can. Leaves to be swept up, compost to be spread and still a few tomatoes to pick.

Lin, I think the only sort of booties George would need are wellies but I did notice this morning he looked at a muddy puddle in the middle of our route, then skirted around it so, as the saying goes, you’re never too old!

I was thinking of going out but see it has started to rain even as sun shines in my window so more rainbows!

Enjoy the day and stay safe.

Happy Monday! A stay at home day so I ordered groceries to be delivered. I have some stuff to do on my computer such as finding a hotel to stay with shuttles from the airport to the hotel to the cruise port. Nothing is cheap anymore so there will be no big deals I am sure. I want to make a couple of doctor's appointments and have a sister in law in a new retirement place near me so I want to give her a call. So it will end up being a busy day in my pajamas. (will put clothes on for grocery delivery)

Hi, i spent the day sorting out winter hats, scarves, gloves, sweaters, socks, hooded sweatshirts and a couple of jackets to donate to our church’s monthly homeless project. I have everything boxed up but need to get the boxes over to my friend’s house again soon.

I also spoke with my insurance agent (health) and he provided me with lots of information I hadn’t heard. I think I am set for the upcoming year, I will keep my current plan and if they withdraw from the state during the plan year, I know which company I will switch to. That’s about as prepared as you can be.

Best wishes to you all. Stay safe.

Larissa left about noon yesterday. We were all sad. The groomer was here so the dogs were distracted. Now the dogs are clean, Annie's nails are trimmed and Bessie's longer hair on her legs has been trimmed. Larissa is a perfect houseguest. She helps with chores, doesn't need to be entertained, love the dogs and plays with them and brings and prepares her own food to eat on her own schedule.. Our shared meal was tostada salads from Taco Time which is our special meal. She went through some more of Jake's stuff and took things with her.

Happy Tuesday! Wating for my cleaning lady and later sitting for kids. I have three of the four pair of glasses I ordered and the 4th is coming today. I am not sure about my computer glasses, they seem to be giving me a headache. I am told to give them a week or two but we will see. I am actually giving them all a week or two although I am going to get them adjusted when all arrive as some are too loose. I hate buying new glasses it takes me forever to get them right.

Barbie, I am happy you had a good time with Larissa. Nice that she is not dependant on you as a guest and helps you with chores. Always good when the dogs are groomed, they not only look good they smell good. lol I am sure Larissa was grateful for some of her dad's belongings.

Lin, how nice of you to donate unwanted clothes to your church for the homeless. I just have to shop around for the best rate on my supplement. I never change medicare even though they offer dental and vision but I would lose my plan F supplement and I never pay anything our of pocket so I won't change. They don't offer it anymore so I am grandfathered in.

Jackie, you must be busy or having internet problems.

The weather has been wild all day so lost power a couple of times. When I saw the forecast for the week I prepared everything needed to clean and paint a wall in my snug that had become damp when the guttering was damaged earlier in the year. Our hot summer was perfect to dry it out so yesterday I washed the area with a vinegar and water mix. It’s an old wives solution that’s been used forever as the vinegar kills damaging spores. That was done yesterday and today I placed masking tape and plastic protective sheet on the floor, then used a stain block paint to cover any signs of damage. Tomorrow I will use emulsion paint bought last week to finish the job, put the furniture back where it belongs and my books in the bookcase. I’ve found a couple of unread novels I had forgotten about so that was a pleasant surprise!

I’ve caught up with your posts but it’s nearly midnight so I will stop here and get to bed. The wind is still howling and I’m hoping a bucket I placed outside my back door hasn’t blown away. No point looking tonight!!

Take care, or as someone pointed out a couple of days ago, we in England are now saying stay safe to each other as it feels more appropriate!
