Clover, If someone de-friends you, they wouldn't be listed as a friend on your profile page and your picture wouldn't be among their friends on their profile page
speaking of your picture, I like your new one.

MuffRuff, you are an amazing exerciser...how great to find a workout that you like

    Jem_Girl, you are doing great

Thanks Barbie. Guess I'm just self centered. It's NOT always about me. This person posts several times a day, and suddenly stopped. She posted again late last night - apparently something going on in her own life - imagine that.

I think your warrior pose looks like a gymnastics or ballet position. We will see gals doing that on a balance beam in the Olympics.

MuffRuff - I am always amazed by your workouts.
Jem-girl - You are doing great.

I did a hula hoop workout dvd last night, just using a wave hoop from the toy dept. It was fun and a good ab workout. I think I'll order a weighted fitness hoop.

Just got in from a bike ride with the hubby. First bike ride in I don't know how many years. At least 4. I haven't fully recovered yet... Proud that we went but incredibly worn out. Abs... so sore.

    Thanks again Barbie.

MuffRuff, you really have done a tremendous number of squats and lunges. Last night I did my squats all at one time. Usually I split them up into 2 or 3 sets. Your legs are amazingly strong.

Jem-girl, did you get a new bike? Biking is fun, very low impact, and fairly easy. And you don't have to ride 20 miles; you can just go up and down the street a few times. Have fun!

I guess I'll start new thread before July gets here. Our little group helps me remember to do some strength building. Thank you for that.

    06/27/2012 - 300 squats and lunges

I started Killer Buns and Thighs on monday. When I first got the dvd I tried it only to fail because I was not conditioned enough. Now I am able to do level one with greater ease. On another note, the crickets here have been out of control due to the heat.

barbiecat - I actually stopped counting my squats. I think we would all be amazed by the number will have done so far. It feels good to have a support group that is not so big that everyone is just a number. You really impress me with the amount of exercises you do each day.

clover5 - At first I did not think that this challenge would help me much at all. However, it has even with little things like walking up the stairs. My other exercises have helped as well. I am glad that you did your squats all at once, doesn't it feel good to know that you can achieve such a goal? I talked with a woman cashier in Walmart once when I went to buy some workout dvds, and she told me that she could not do even one squat. This statement really made me thankful for such a group as this one.

Jem_Girl - bike riding sounds fun. It must be even more fun riding with your husband. I used to ride my bike at home, where my parents live. However, I am actually scared to ride in the city where I go to college because of the driving, traffic, and people on the road. I do not want to get hit by a car as I have almost with just walking and having cars run the stop sign. Hopefully one day I will find a trail or somewhere to go riding. I actually want some inline skates, but the ones I want are really expensive. Keep up the great work!

 I love this thread and you supportive fitness buddies...you encourage me to challenge myself.

:flowerforyou: I fell off a bike many years ago and have not wanted to ride again for a great many safety reasons. We had an exercise bike in our living room for over a year and I rode it several times a day.

:flowerforyou: MuffRuff, I am retired and have a lot of time to do the things I want to do.....i don't do much housework, I don't cook elaborate meals, I've cut way back on crafts, and I don't have a lot of family that places demands on me so I can exercise all I want.

:flowerforyou: today I taught a line dance class for my friend....I've been doing this for a few weeks because her husband's healthy had taken a turn for the worse and he died yesterday     so I'll be filling in for her for awhile longer until she feels ready to teach again.

Yep, I love this group. It's nice to have a place to share fitness (or other) things with just a few like-minded people. And it's good to know the responses are always going to be supportive!

As for our bike ride on Tues., we didn't go out and get new bikes, just pulled out ones that had been cobwebbing it up in the back of the shed. We actually had to patch the tire on mine, but we'd conveniently noticed a bike tire repair kit lying around not too long ago (fate!). We used mountain bikes, which are probably better for where we live. We live near the end of one of the rail trails (railroad line converted into a walking/biking trail) so it isn't paved like the ones in town but is in good condition and only has slight inclines. We're supposed to go again this evening although we'll see how the butt-bruises and lower back holds up. We're going to aim for 20 - 30 minutes this time (instead of the hour+ we did last time). I'll let you know how it goes!

@muff, I don't think I'd ever bike on roads or around a city. I don't think it's an unreasonable fear since when I was in high school a friend's younger brother died when he was hit by a car while biking next to a road. I have three brothers and have always worried about something happening to one of them, so this made a big impression on me. All of the "trails" in the nearest town are separate from the roads (except at a few crossings). I'm really happy with the town for taking on the project, and I'm lucky to live so close to one of the trailheads/parking areas. I hope a trail or similar becomes available to you!

@clover Hah! I'm glad I'm not the only one who forgets.

@barbie :frown: I remember when you mentioned teaching the line dances. What a sad conclusion to that turn. Good on you for being there to help out.

:laugh:Clover, the great thing about making a resolution to do something is that it gets you out of bed, if necessary, to get it done.

:flowerforyou: Jem Girl, your trails for bike riding sound great.....we have a trail here that is used by bikes and people walking or running and in a few places by horses (there's a side path for the horses).....I walk the trail and find that most of the bike riders know how to call ahead or ring their bells to let the walkers know that they are coming up behind them

:flowerforyou: I skipped my weight training today in favor of spending time moving and arranging rocks...I carried a few rocks that were heavier than any of the weights I lift (but I didn't lift the rocks over my head  )
