Metformin and IBD
So I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16 (that was 17 years ago). I've struggled with weight loss for years and just read several studies that suggested Metformin was successful for both IR and non-IR PCOS...my mind was blown. I'm non-IR. My dr started me on Metformin ER 500mg 2x a day (once a day for the first week to…

New
I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS and was put on metformin ER 2x a day so any advice and tips would be great! I have adjusted pretty well to the metformin but I have noticed that if I miss a dose I get sharp pains really low in my stomach that shoot downwards. Does anyone else have this issue?

New to the site. Looking for MFP buddies!
I love that there is a forum just for PCOS! It is difficult to find people who understand the daily struggle. I would love to find some like-minded ladies so we can share our struggle together, and lift each other up when we get knocked down!

Dieting with PCOS post hysterectomy
I am a long time sufferer of PCOS, I was diagnosed with PCOS at 26 I am now 35. Unfortunately none of my doctors completely explained the disease to me. This past summer, when my pain was at it's worst, my gyn recommended a full hysterectomy, thinking it would cure me of this awful disease I agreed, two months later we…

Looking for an Answer...
I am always struggling with feelings of anxiety and sadness. I have had this issue all of my life. One moment I am really happy, and then I can become really anxious about something, I can also become easily depressed feeling and just cry on and off for a few days. I know a lot of this can be attributed to PMS, or…

PCOS and TTC
I was diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago, when my son was 3 years old. He happened after the first "unsafe" practice so my doctor has always felt like I would not struggle with a second. This is my first time TRYING to get pregnant. I got married last fall and went off BC pill the second week of October. Since then my…

How do I get rid of my belly fat?
I'm looking for advice. I've known I have PCOS since I was in 7th grade (I am 23 now) and have spent a lot of time researching and trying to better my diet. After gaining 50 lbs in the first year and a half of college, I have finally gotten myself together and lost 5 inches around my thighs and stomach in the past year (7…

What gives?
So I know I've had PCOS related symptoms for about 8 years now - mainly I deal with weight gain/difficulty losing weight, no periods on my own (BC for about 3 years, past 2 years I've discontinued it), mild facial hair and mood swings. I decided to have all my blood work and ultrasounds done July 2014 after dropping around…

Tentative PCOS diagnosis...so many questions
Hey ladies, So, my doctor recently started me on Metformin saying she thinks I have PCOS even though my tests aren't necessarily consistent. I'm wondering if anyone else got a diagnosis like this? I'm only on 500mg metformin so far, but I am already starting to lose weight, so I'm hopeful. Here's my story: Irregular…

Intro
Hi Everyone. I never formally introduced myself. My name is Lindsay (LO1421) and I was officially diagnosed with PCOS about 3 years ago. Although thinking back I've probably had it all my adult life. I was diagnosed when my husband and I were struggling with getting pregnant. It has been a very long and emotional journey.…

An introduction
I'm sure there are many, but I just received my diagnosis on Friday. I had done Insanity, P90X, P90X3, TurboFire, Chalean Extreme, Focus T25...and no weight loss whatsoever despite eating at a 1600 calorie a day diet that should have had me dropping something! I can exercise six days a week, eat a normal amount, and…

Naturopathic PCOS Treatment ~ Insinase
This group is amazing and I know there are some really knowledgeable resources around here, so thanks before I start! I've been diagnosed with PCOS about15 years ago already. Until recently I've only attempted to control it with diet and exercise. Starting in September I started seeing a Naturopathic Doctor who put me on…

Anyone here do IF in any form?
I am not doing the classic or strict version - I have no problems with gluten and I am not cutting out all carbs - but I am going back to a 16-8 plan as I've had the most success with that in the past. I kind of stumbled on this by accident - I find that if I eat in the morning, I am starving uncontrollably all day; but if…

Hi All
I have been using MFP on and off for the last couple years and after being diagnosed with PCOS last year, I've been trying to make positive changes to help manage it. I've done some pretty extensive research over the last year and now need to be more consistent in my application of everything I've learned. Feel free to add…

How long until it's time to call the doctor again?
Okay PCOS ladies... Thoughts here if you don't mind! Hadn't had a cycle since September. So, I was given medication to induce it. Well, it's now been three weeks of moderate-heavy bleeding. How long until I should call my doctor again/what should I do to hurry it along? This getting annoying. Hahah.

Hi, I joined this group a little bit ago but didn't introduce myself (at least I don't think I did). My name is Rebecca and I have had PCOS since I was 16. I am still learning new things every day about it. I could always use support or friends who understand the struggle. Rebecca

Another newb with a longish story (sorry!)
Not to PCOS, just to this group. I was an extremely active and athletic teenager - like EXTREMELY, and in fact anorexic. In spite of being excessively athletic and engaging in self-destructive levels of food restriction, I couldn't get my weight below 135 (at a height of 5'5" so no one ever caught on or felt I had a…

HI!
I am new to the group and wanted to introduce myself. I am a mom to a brilliant 3yo boy who is my world. My husband and I wanted to try for #2 shortly after my son was born but have been having some issues. I was then diagnosed mid 2014, yet still continued ttc. So now we have been trying for over 2 years. Unfortunately,…

Angry Phase - I'm going to vent, feel free to join me.
So, this is my venting post. Perhaps this isn't the best forum to post this, but I'm doing it anyways! I'm pissed. Like livid. Like WTAF angry. I know it's a phase; I know it'll pass; I know the focus of my rage doesn't deserve it.... but I feel this way anyways. A few weeks ago commemorated my 6 weeks of intense dieting.…

New to the group, weight loss, metformin, and ttc
Hi everyone! I have recently been diagnosed with pcos but I have a feeling I have had it for years. My husband and I have been ttc for a few months. I'm 40 so after 3 months the doc gave me a complete exam. I am insulin resistant so my doc put me on metformin, 1000mg in the evening. The side effects are yucky and I have…
