I was lifting, stopped after getting pregnant, and plan to start again as soon as I'm healthy enough after delivery. I also have a spouse that lifts and could use it now. We both plan on keeping up with working out after having kids. Might not be something we look forward to doing always but I think its important to keep…

Thanks for the suggestions! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy for wanting to set up a gym in an area that kids can access.

Thanks for the reply! Do the children have access to the basement normally when you're not down there? I'm a little worried about when the kid is maybe 5 or 6 and might be running around at home without someone always watching their every move but not old enough to know not to mess with grown up equipment. But I have no…

Hm speaking of Easter food. After having a crazy calorie day yesterday, it is only 1pm out here and I've had almost 3K calories of potato chips and chocolate. I'm still working on the bag of potato chips but I already gave up and logged the whole bag... So yeah. Not sure if I am proud about this but I don't think I had…

I would vote for after surgery since it would be a natural stopping point for SL. But my vote is personality driven. I like to mentally prepare myself so I end up thinking about something for a while and then doing it so waiting a few weeks would work for me.

mirrim- I read the sticky but not a lot of information re other programs so just wondering what other people's experiences were. Dawn- I know what you mean. I chose SL because of the simplicity of only learning 5 lifts. But I think i might be ready for some additional lifts.

If I go start into lifting, I sweat a bit on deadlifts and squats but not a ton. If I do 10 mins of cardio to warm up then I continue to sweat a lot while I lift.

I think it takes a long time to put on muscle. If you are eating at maintenance rather than bulking then it will take even longer to to build. A month and a half does not seem like long enough to see major progress as far as muscle growth. Since you haven't been weighing yourself, could you actually have lost some weight?…

You dont have to eat lean Cusines just bc you don't want to or cant cook. Just eat prepackaged food that is more delicious and filling than the frozen entrees if you do not enjoy them. I don't have regular lunch meals and instead fill up on snacks through out the day until I get to dinner. I bring cheese, yogurt, beef…

Oh and I'll add that Costco rotisserie chicken us the one thing that does drive me nuts bc I like to eat it frequently and I have not been able to find something good to use for it after extensive googling. There is a post with what is supposedly an email from costco re nutritional info on the bodybuilding.com forums but…

If I'm the only person eating a whole container of something in my house (like tofu), I will just eye ball portions and log it as a ratio of what's in the whole container. I eat the entire package within a few days so any thing I misjudged should even out at the end. Makes life a lot easier for things like tofu and canned…

Thanks Sara. I went on a crazy five day eating binge right after I posted from 3/4 to 3/8 and ended up giving up on tracking towards the end of it. Weight went up to 148 but I buckled down starting 3/9 again and weight went down to 141 yesterday morning so the fluctuation range is still trending downwards. My lightest when…

Generally the store has a lot of delicious quick/ fully cooked foods (like premade salads and frozen tamales and orange chicken) and good selection of bread and wine. And insane selection of chocolates and sweets. I don't get produce or meat (except the cured meats and suasages that are next to the cheese) there bc those…

I think the guy that started stronglifts says to always do squats first because it is the most important so its best to get that out of the way before doing the other lifts. But I have the same problem where equipment is not always available. Today, I did benches first bc the squat equipment was busy. I kinda liked it…

Is your husband making sure the bar is balanced on your back right in the middle? Sometimes I have problems with the bar being a bit lopsided.

I used to drink almost every Friday night with the hubs and could down a bottle of champagne by myself. We'd drink on Saturdays too if we go out with friends etc. I didn't purposefully cut out drinking but I don't think I've had a drink in about a month. When I do drink I usually only have one now. I'd just almost always…

Thanks jenglish. I could try doing a bit more warmup sets.
-
I do the warm ups from the app. I generally do 2 to 3 min rests between sets. You are supposed to wait 5 mins if you fail before doing another set but I never take that long of a rest bc my gym is too crowded.
-
Usually I'm pretty close to actually getting it (reps of 4 instead of 5 in some sets) so I keep wanting to try it :/ Plus, its partly because I don't want to keep deloading and actually move backwards. I deload eventually but I try more than the recommended 3 times. I could be more strict with just sticking to 3 tries. I…

Doubt most people can actually burn 1,000 cals in a normal workout. Maybe if you dedicate your day to it like going on a 20 mile hike with a high elevation gain.... Machine estimates will vary pretty wildly depending on type of machine, brand etc. For instance, this morning I did the endless stair climb machine and it told…

It seems like you have some empty diary days since Feb 1st. Maybe you are eating a lot more than 1200-1350 and have been in maintenance or over in calories? I would get thyroid checked if eating 1200-1350 and exercise cals are not crazy inflated and not losing any weight. I lose about 0.5 to 1 lb a week if I average 1850…

I'm not expert but from what I've read and from my own experience, it seems common to stall or even lose some strength when eating at a deficit. I started in Oct too. Went along fine until weights got heavy around Nov then started stalling and feeling like I was getting weaker. Sometimes I was able to make a little bit of…

Fiber is a good idea actually. I don't eat a lot of grains or beans so if I'm a bit low on veggies on any day then I get like no fiber.

I understand all of this and to a certain extent I could and do avoid these situations and buffets etc. Sometimes I can't though and I would like to not have to avoid them for the rest of my life. I am losing weight okay because I do avoid and I do do things to make up for the over indulgences. That is not the problem. It…

Haha. Thanks jgnatca! Exactly what i was looking for. These is hope for the general forums.

I love an oz of gourmet hard cheese when I want a snack that is tasty and not a lot of cals. An oz is actually quite a lot when it is a really good strong tasting cheese- i can nibble on it for a while while trying TV and be really satisfied for 110 cals. It also provides some nutrition so not sure if it is is "junk"…

I've always try to pre-log but unfortunately the amount of calories do not do enough to shock me enough to not eat it. I end up doing a 3,500 calorie day and then make up for it the next two days by eating very little. I don't find that particularly healthy or sustainable long term so I am trying to work on those 3,000 cal…

Thanks Moi... I usually have no problems as long as it is not right in front of my face for instance I can cook extra for tomorrow and not eat it as long as I step away from it. I might practice putting some extra food on my plate at dinner today...

Haha. Yea. This is probably true. But I never learn. I do like that article on the science of willpower. Anyway, what I'm doing now is trying to say no to over consumption each time I am in the situation. I thought there might be little things I can work on the way to actually be successful. Oh well.
