I must have clicked on another subtitle under 'Community'! Oh my. I apologize but the only one I intentionally click on is this one 'General Health, Fitness and Diet'. Oh well - appreciate your help.

Thanks for your info and the link, lemurcat. I'm going to check out. Been awhile since I glanced at book but it's interesting how they compared low fat (healthier) meat to vegetarian and lab results (I think/too many diet books). There are several threads and when I googled topic/mfp/end of June 2021 it surfaces but the…

I know a few overweight vegetarians but I do think there are many healthy, lithe, ones. I've read more than once vegetarians are the thinnest overall. I'd love to try it - I'm allergic to dairy (which I crave - didn't when younger) and need sources of protein. Don't care for meat unless it's unhealthy type and bits of…

1) MFP - I've learned here and need to check in consistently for knowledge/info. Was junky buying diet books although skeptical and read few 2) Light & Fit (Dannon) Greek yogurt mixed for tad of flavor with plain Oikos plain yogurt 3) Red seedless grapes - can't live without 4) Barely ripened bananas - lots of grocery…

It must have been - it happens. Thanks for checking. I appreciated the info on salt and BP/heart. So much good info on here.

yirara - no -- the person is strict vegetarian and has been for over 3 decades.

I was desperate but afraid of becoming addicted to sleep meds and my doctor recommended Tylenol PM which has Benadryl in it. Most OTC sleep aids have Benadryl. I read (and heard) Tylenol alone relaxes some and thus Tylenol PM must really work but I decided to start mild and buy the Pediatric Benadryl and started with 1/4…

Ahh - niner, my dream weight loss plan🤪!

I've read a few posts in the past of posters having WW memberships as well as counting calories. If I had the time to track both points/calories (and attend meetings) I might check out their info. Are meetings available online?

ccrdragon you are right on the money (actually lbs/weight!!). Plus having a special event on the horizon and one's health a good motivator. It's not easy learning to adjust to one's caloric limit for weight loss and be patient.
-
Ahh, thank you ANNPT77 for the reassurance re/the science but whatever she did worked so it had to be serious calorie deficit.

Hopefully, normal life to reach herd immunity will be the answer -- obviously, the next level of normalcy here and back again to phase 1 due to outbreak isn't working. Apparently, the new mutated virus is 30% more deadly - this is unreal.

Australia seems to have a grip on Covid, however, they've a population of what - 30-35K people (about the population of California - one state!) and the US has 330,000! Huge difference. Most people I know (over 55) have 'sheltered in place' other than necessary errands, faithfully following the mask/social distancing. When…

Might want to check out excellent posts by Emily Patterson, "Under 1200 for weight-loss." It doesn't make sense but when I cut my calories down I don't lose but gain a lb or so - if I eat the amount deemed per the charts (mfp calculator) I lose - maybe not as fast as I'd like, but it works. Friends yrs ago on Weight…

I got it -- thx.

What is a "Necrothread?" Thx

Ibride - salicylic acid is supposed to be the greatest thing - salicylic chemical peels must be something -- how often is "regular?"

Stridex is good, however, caution is needed if one is using prescribed acne meds. Many times DERMS will recommend or prescribe (or recommend OTC) an additional cleanser/cream to be used along with the acne cream/gel. The OP needs to discuss with doctor re/any OTC skin care products. I agree -- Stridex is effective OTC for…

mmapags -- NO - fruit is nutritious/healthy. Sorry about confusion but my junk is cake/icecream bite(s) per day. I'm cautious with the processed, refined, stuff.
-
earlnabby - I hear ya re/cake(-: I deprived myself for decades of dessert but I only have one med/large size bite with my Haagen Daz (bite) and save one bite for after dinner of my other fave dessert - I have to be cautious. Never could figure out why my husband could devour dessert every, single, night - no weight…

Some acne meds/creams/gels do cause the face to break out -- there's a term and it's called "purge." It does help acne, but many people experience a "purge" before the skin clears up. Just google the name of your medication to see if it's a variation of Retin A/Tretinoin, etc., and if so google for info under "purge." You…

Hi CG123 - I find that refined carbs do not help the sugar cravings - maybe for a nanosecond or so - but actually make it worse. I do have my snack of junk each day - minimal. If you like grapes (red seedless, green, black, whatever) they help/satisfy like nothing else. Any fruit that is watery-sweet should do the trick. I…

lemurcat2 - 1910 - that's awesome. I'm clueless about how I'll get all nutrients in on 1300 calories but losing weight is my first priority. ZJ03 - Thx for the above link gov/health dash-eating plan. Keep care of that blood pressure, weightgoesb - we're concerned about BP around my house, too. This Dash eating plan looks…

Great info/recipe ideas/thx. I'm not into cooking much at this point in time because of kitchen/house 'reconstruction' horror but I do cook legumes (pintos? need to do black beans prob healthier) at my Mom's kitchen maybe once a month and feel they're safe to eat for few days - I try to eat as healthy as possible - take…

oops - someone was inquiring about 1/18 not 1/19. I still left info re/this thread.

There's now a group -- under the Search tab type in The Dash Diet -- new thread 1/19 started by zeejane03. It's very interesting topic.
-
You gals/guys are so fast/efficient -- can't wait to come back and read your knowledge. BTW I just typed in Dash Diet (didn't type in 'The') and someone (past few weeks) is inquiring whether there's a DASH eating plan group. To find THIS thread I have to go into the 'Search' and type in the exact words, The Dash Diet,…

ZJ03/thanks! That's my problem -- never heard of Aldi and we must not have one here. I'll check to see about the 'KYSO' bread/thanks for all the info. I like this DASH eating plan - love starches and carbo but I have to balance out with some serious, small, portions, of protein (will try to squeeze it out of the Greek…
-
zeejane - thanks for this thread/appreciate! Just 'heard' about this under the Med eating topic again (where I get lost but need to figure out!). I was short time last week and lost my way keeping up here. Trying to figure out easiest way to buy Aldi bread - hopefully I can order a whole grain/wheat type.

Tried it all -- podiatrist, insoles/inserts, special (ugly) shoes, physical therapy -- exercises are brutal but great -- the best thing I spent money on other than PT was a pair of Mesphito sandals (Nordstroms and they resemble Birkenstocks but much better) and they saved me. Once I started wearing them (living in them) my…
