  • I'm in! Feel free to add me as a friend. I'll smack you around a lil bit!
  • Hi. Are you limiting your calories at all on the days when you tend to eat poorly?
  • Planks are great for your core. Fitnessblender.com has amazing core workouts. You can pick and choose from several with different levels of difficulty and length of workout. The videos are on YouTube and they are free! Good luck!

  • ^That's what I'm talking about. No, it isn't definitely not a donut! Hahaha! But if you do not really WANT the donut but seeing it makes you want something sweet, maybe you can satisfy that urge with something like this and know you did your body good rather than feel guilty for caving in or feeling bad that hubby tempted…
  • I have a specific goal I am working towards, so I am very choosy about what I indulge in and how often. For me, a donut represents nothing but empty calories. I weigh what I could eat that I enjoy and will help me towards my goal vs that very momentary pleasure of a donut. If I am just craving something sweet, I'll eat an…
  • I believe you have the right setting. I think that sedentary applies to your daily activities outside of exercise. If that is wrong, someone will correct me. As for eating back calories, most people advise eating back 50%-75% of your earned calories so you are not falling below the 1200 mark because of your calorie…
  • A lot of people log their exercise but for the calories burned they use "1". That way they have accounted for the activity and time spent doing it but the earned calories won't show up. This is the only way I am aware of to circumvent the padded calories from exercise.
  • Hi. Welcome to MFP. If you want to start adding friends for support and motivation, feel free to add me. I'd love to help any way I can. Since you are a male and because of your size (ht/wt) I don't know if that's the right range but I feel like there are others on here who will be happy to advise on that. But your PLAN…
  • I love the Vega's protein powder and smoothie powder but not a huge fan of the bars. I am okay with the quest bars but the high alcohol sugar content bothers my stomach so I don't eat them as much. For me it's combat bars all the way. The texture and flavor are very pleasant and they are high in protein of course. If you…
  • Feel free to add me, Adele. Also working on reducing Body Fat %. Currently at 23.4% working towards 19 to 20%. It's work but well worth it to watch that number go down! -Cheryl
  • If you use MFP's data base you can get a lot of basic information. Otherwise the nutritional info on food packaging will help. To get portions right you need to measure liquids and weigh non liquids. Investing in a food scale will help you immensely. If you are able to log your food accurately you'll have greater success…
  • I agree with that^. I wouldn't recommend anyone have it instead of their supper at night. Or even to replace a meal if they are eating only 3 meals a day. I blend the packet with a 32g protein muscle milk which adds calories and obviously protein. And I also eat a pretty substantial breakfast and healthy snacks (such as…
  • I love it and I do use it as a meal replacement Monday through Friday when I am working. I find it tasty and satisfying. Shakeology works for me and here is why. When I am at work, my only viable options are fast food places nearby and that's really no option. I'm not willing to eat at McDonalds every day because it's…
  • Hahaha. End anything with yo and I find it very difficult to argue with. ;) Wish I could do them well. My form sucks.
  • Lol - Emilia I just read your profile. Lifting is my fav too. Too funny!
  • Jinx!
  • Go into Settings. Diary Settings and scroll down. There are 6 fields you can name anything you want.
  • Interesting thread. Aside from planks and crunches (which have been discussed) what is the general consensus on best exercise to strengthen and define abs? Not spot reducing. Just concentrating on those muscles in particular.
  • I agree completely. It feels amazing. There are a lot of variations too. I like the one legged deadlift also but the traditional one with legs straight is my fav. I am a huge propenent for lifting overall. I am one happy girl when I have my weights. I just resumed my program after about 6 weeks and I have that day after…
  • You're onto something here. I can feel it. ;) Ever think of writing a book? You need to share.
  • Hi Joe. Stranger things have happened. Best of luck - keep us updated!
  • ^Lived in Winthrop, MA for a few years. LOVED it up there! Back home in Texas now. Dallas/Fort Worth Area.
  • What an excellent outpouring of support! You came to the right place and will be encouraged along the way. We love to celebrate each other's successes. Great advice on here. If you want to do it right, make sure you are eating properly. Otherwise you may sabotage your progress. Best of luck on winning your wager!
  • Personally, it makes no difference to me if anyone's diary is public or not. The option is there to set it to whatever preference we want. I don't see the point in judging anyone on which preference they choose. I have never been curious about what others are eating unless they were asking for specific advice about what…

  • First of all, WELL DONE! You've done something amazing by changing your lifestyle and succeeding with your weight loss. Moreover, you are healthier and that's so important. I also was a fat kid and teenager. I lost weight when I was 17 but had done a lot of damage to my body by being obese in my formative years. For years…
  • I like to use Grillmates Marinades. They are a powder in a packet (with the sauces and gravies at the grocery) and you just add olive oil, water and some types you also add balsalmic vinegar. I usually put the powder into a gallon ziplock bag mix the ingredients in the bag then add my boneless, skinless chicken breasts…
  • Accountability - not just to my peers on MFP but myself. I usually log it before I eat it and if I don't like how it affects the rest of my day (like I can't have a reasonable dinner because I ate a lot of empty calories for a snack) I might decide NOT to have that snack or justify it by doing enough cardio later in the…
