Don't try to lose weight on vacation. That would be a recipe for failure (at least in my book). You can try to maintain, but that may not be reasonable just due to water weight and a few treats. Personally, I work out everyday. A nice walk on the ship would be fun! I try to be reasonable or even 'good' for most breakfasts…

I usually try and be reasonable for breakfast and lunch. And 'enjoy' myself a bit more at dinner.. Also, I usually do lots of walking to offset the dinner fun!.

Chewing gum makes me hungry ( I always assumed it was from the chewing motion ). But I can suck on hard candy without it causing hunger.

I only weigh those items that I have a hard time estimating, or that are 'costly' if estimated wrong. But you need to see what works for YOU. But at a minimum I confirm my estimation on occasion. I try to have active vacations. Booking one now for a bike tour. Or do lots of walking to look at the sites. I also try to be 'fairly good' for lunch and breakfast, while allowing myself some freedom at dinner and dessert.

You need to find what 'you' like. You won't stick with it otherwise. I walk or ride my bike.

I eat reasonable. I eat everything I want. But I keep it to the 1 meal.. I don't eat high calorie leftovers for days. I also plan a nice long walk (normal). It is 1 day. Enjoy it..

I suggest you aim for small goals. I usually use every 10 pounds when I go down a 'digit'. I try not to focus on the big picture.. (it can be too overwhelming).

Buy snack sizes. Or just go and buy 1 really good gourmet cookie. I can't keep any quantity in the house.

Have you tried kayaking before? If not, maybe you should try renting a few to see what you like before you buy. Also, assuming you don't live on the water, transportation might be a concern ( weight). These might be important factors with a kayak.

I can't 'eat just one'.. so I feel your pain. when I make this complaint, my husband reminds me that you have no idea 'who just sneezed on the food'.. it makes it not so enticing!

I usually bring hardcooked eggs, cheese, carrots and fiber bars in the car. And try to encourage stopping at Subway or whatever chain works best for you. I also look at the map and 'try' to plan where to stop as best I can for longer breaks.

Yes I am the same way. Have you tried to read any of the Geneen Roth books? All you can do is try 'not' to be that way. But I struggle everyday.
