I've been swimming a 1/2 mile every morning at the YMCA. My knees and back have never felt better. Also, I've dropped 45 pounds in 6 months. I feel good about that too.

Focus on smaller goals. Two or three pounds at a time. I've lost 26% of my body weight over 16 months this way.

Your scale is your friend. It's the best motivator I have. If I gain a little then that helps me to remotivate. I weigh every day. Gain one, lose two. I've been doing this for 50 pounds.

You can add me too. I've had very good success with MFP.

Don't worry about it. It's ok to stray now and then. I don't plan for cheat days but there are certainly some days where things don't go as planned for whatever reason. The way I see it, the important thing is to stay mindful of my goals and to not be to tough on myself when I slip a little.

I've run into that too. It's a big change for you and remember that it can also be a big change for them.

Think long term nutrition. It's easy to want instant satisfaction and looking forward to reaching your goal is great motivation but its ok to take it slow.

What are you looking for? Weight loss? Gain? Mass? There are different types of protein for each.

Its funny but I'm reluctant to buy smaller pants for some reason. I should be wearing 36 waist now but I'm still wearing my old 38s.

Plateaus are part of the process. They're tough to deal with but they're unavoidable for me. Pushing through them helps to power my resolve. To get through them I back off my daily goals a little and take it easy on myself. My trick is to not fall completely off the wagon.

Baby steps. Shoot for 2 pounds at a time. You'll bounce a bit. Down 2, up one, etc. Its the net result that counts. You will get there. It's not easy especially when you have a good loss and then hit a plateau for a while. Just push through.

Top to bottom

Plateaus suck but they are part of the process. Keep your eyes on the horizon and just keep going. They are just bumps in the road. We all get them and get over them. You will too.
-
Me too. Feel free to add me.

I had a similar experience. I lost 30 pounds over 8 months and then found half it it again. I hopped back on the wagon six weeks ago and I'm back on track. Just fight one battle at a time.

You aren't alone. As we get older it becomes more difficult to lose weight. Eat healthy and exercise. Just work on overall health and the pounds will slowly come off. It's not a race.
-
Plateaus are part of the process. I've been bouncing around the same 10 pounds for a couple of months. It's frustrating but I'm keeping focused on the long term.

There are many, many people around you on the same path. You just don't know who they are yet. Losing focus and getting side tracked is human and we all do it. It's ok. Focus on the journey not the destination.

Keep your chin up.

2 pounds at a time is my goal. I seem to lose 2 and then gain one back so it kind of a pound at a time for me. That might seem like it will take forever but it seems like I've already been trying forever with no good results so at this point I can be patient. Two pounds a week for just a year ends up being a lot. It will…

or keep better healthy snacks around. A big glass of water is a great way to fill up too.

Get a water cooler and 5 gallon bottles. I even refill my bottles from the tap. Some lemon and lime slices are always ready to go too.
-
Me. I'm here.
-
You aren't starting over. It's a journey you've already started. You just took a break for a bit. It's ok. We all do it.

I can be tough to stay motivated especially when you think you're making progress and something happens. Some days I get on the scale and SURPRISE! I gained a couple of pounds. It happens. Keep looking for long term results and measure progress different ways. I track weight, fat %, fit of my clothes, and most importantly…
