  • Just quick estimates for your food intake: 1 large egg = 75 calories 1 cup fruit = 50 calories coffee = 0 calories (sugar add 15 calories/spoon and 35/ creamer) smart one / lean cuisine = 400 each Lara bar = 190 Daily total = 1115 / day So if you add cream or sugar to your coffee add to that. If you drink anything other…
  • I'm 5ft 3 and 172lbs, I'm a size 12 (US) ish, most of my pants are 31/32 inch waists
  • I dunno about your macros, but I mix 15g of honey goats cheese with 2 tablespoons of apple balsamic vinegar. It is amazing! Sweet yet tangy, and really coats the lettuce well to disguise that "green" taste!
  • Cakemunchkin, looking at your diary it looks like you might not be logging accurately. Sometimes the estimates in MFP are off, for example a "banana" can weigh anything. Try to quantify things using a measurable scale, don't just eyeball. I don't eat much myself, but I found that that I was missestimating quite a bit when…
  • Thanks for the additional comments - going to work out my TDEE and readjust, more food is always better for me, and more motivating!!
  • Thanks for the suggestions!! @diannethegeek great information!! I will also calculate my TDEE but I don't think it would be much higher as I work a desk job, and have a long sit down and sleep commute every day. @janejellyroll I think I sabotaged myself a lot due to inaccurate measuring, and then skipping logging on…
  • I work from 730 - 330 with an hour and a half commute each way - so I feel you! I have started to bring my own lunch, all weighed and measured, to keep track of what I am eating. I try to have a 0 calorie coke to boost me in the afternoon, and I always budget for chocolate in the afternoon - either a small bar or some…
  • Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Thanks AllanMisner - I appreciate your advice, I think weights might be a good thing as I have such little upper body strength - since all I do is walk, it might be a nice change. I have plenty of body weight to abuse for weights !! Benjammin - checking out that website!! thanks…
  • Thanks Nuke_64 and cwolfman13! I really love cycling and was actually thinking about maybe starting to Cycle part of my commute, my commute is currently car -> train -> walk, so I was thinking I could try replacing the car part with biking. My only fear is I live on a very busy street with no bikelanes, it's like a 4 lane…
  • nordlead2005 - I'm small in terms of height, not in terms of weight lol. I am just about 5ft 2 and weigh about 183lbs - putting me quite firmly into the obese BMI category. My struggle is keeping to the 1200 calorie limit, that's why I wanted a little more breathing room to help me get through those hungry days.
  • I used to never have anything, but I blacked out a few times on my way to work, so now my doctor has asked that I eat a protein shake every morning before I leave the house. It's gross - lol. For me, this makes it harder to keep to my calorie goal as I love eating that that gross shake is taking up 200 calories that could…
  • Sadly BigMama24mfp for us tiny people with desk jobs, BMRs can be lower. My BMR is 1500 [edit] 1466 :( now Im even sadder [edit]. That aint a lot! So I have to go down to 1200 to feel any type of shift on my scale :( For me I tend to do a small breakfast - I have to have a Protein shake (protein powder + almond milk) as…
  • Thanks guys!! I will be trying something else - thanks for the tip about using cows milk - I cannot stomach cows milk, so that's why I use coconut. I tried it with Almond Milk today (I accidentally bought Silk almond instead of coconut) and either my tastebuds have gotten used to it, or the Almond milk mixes better. My…
  • I feel ya, no matter how much I eat I always feel like I need a bedtime snack. I will do some crackers, or rice cakes, or a sleepy time tea. I will then go and brush my teeth and use a "magic berry" flavoured mouthwash. I find the sweet taste in my mouth is enough to stop cravings.
  • Wishing you lots of luck, sometimes it's hard when other people make thoughtless comments but think of it this way you are trying to lose the weight and change that thing that's bad about you, and this time next year you won't be anything like "fat amy" but your friend will still be a *kitten* :)
  • For me I find myself in a situation of I crave sweet, then I eat sweet, so I crave salty, which I eat, which makes me crave sweets and I keep on looping around. I do the exact same thing with bananas, but I have found some ways to try and control myself. Here are some things you can try to help: - Don't carry any change -…
  • I'm open! Feel free to add.
  • Right now I am at at home person. I have tried the Gym many times, but I find the added time of preparing my clothes, going to the gym, working out, getting changed coming home - it just seems like too much effort to me and I can rarely convince myself to go. At home though, any time I am sitting on the couch for 5 minutes…
  • I love balsamic vinegar as a dressing - I just put it on, no oil or anything, but it might be a bit too "vinegary" for most people. I also tend not to dress salads if I use "wet" ingredients - for example putting goats cheese in a salad, or cut tomatoes, or pickled beets - I find the juice from these can help instead of…
  • Thanks all! Very helpful! I'm excited to go weigh dinner for tonight lol.
  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE airpopped corn! I eat it without any topping. A couple of things I do for my husband, and myself if I want a treat: - A spray bottle filled with Balsamic vinegar, and lightly spray the corn. It goes a little soggy but its amazingly delicious - 1 tablespoon of I can't believe it's not butter light, mix it…
  • Why not flip your routine? Instead of getting up extra early to go to the gym, why not just go to bed later? Instead of getting up at 4:45 - which is tough, then going, coming back, showering, off to work. Why not try doing it before bed? I also tried working out at lunch time, and driving to the gym from work, but I found…
  • Thanks for the quick responses!! This is helpful! I have my scale right next to the stove but I have been inconsistent in raw vs cooked sometimes its before it goes in the pan, sometimes it's as it goes on the plate. As for the Bacon, I removed all the fat and just had the meat, so I probably threw away about 40% of the…
  • Scottish but in Ontario! was in Guelph for a while now more GTA!
  • Pop Chips are good - they taste like chips but are more crackery, way less calories. Same goes with Wheat Thins Popped - you can get them in flavours like chips, and I think around 18 chips is 90 calories. You can find the Wheat Thin ones in the cracker aisle of the store, whereas the Pop Chips are in the crisps section.…
  • Thanks! I have a blackberry - so I would assume right off that the app doesn't work. I think I was just scared to go for the burgers and such as I had no idea what the calorific content would be - seems like it's not too bad!! Thanks RodaRose!!
  • I tried Shaun T's Insanity workout. I really liked it, it was so intense, but Shaun T is a great motivator and instructor, I hate him - he encourages me to keep going after I really should stop.
  • I struggle, but I am sticking too it. My diary is open and I eat 1200 / day. I don't eat very much though compares to other people. I usually eat 1200, then workout for 200 every day, and I'm not usually hungry. I've only been logging for 4 days this time - so maybe not a lot of help.
  • Thanks TeaBea I thought 595 was awfuly high as well for a 30 minute period. I think putting it as dance that matches the type of dance I mostly did is probably the best bet!
