MFP has me calculated at 1,580 cal/day for a 2lb/week loss (plus exercise) set on lightly active. I'm 6'1" 236 lbs this morning. I've been eating about 1,600 cal since late December (not eating back exercise generally speaking) and I've lost an average of about 2 lbs a week after the first ten I lost in two weeks, down…

Where did you come up with 1,700? I'm 6'1" and 236lbs at the moment and MFP tells me to eat around 1,600 cals a day to lose 2 lbs a week. If your goal is to lose about 1 lb a week, then you may be around the right number. To lose 30 lbs by July, I think you're perhaps high depending how much exercise you intend to do.

Congratulations...it sounds like we may be very similar in terms of ability to gain or lose weight. When I'm on the wagon I drop fast too (28 down since early Jan), but also much like you say. When I'm off the wagon, I can eat (and drink at times, though not to the extent you've stated, way to go on taking that head on)…

Awesome, congratulations! I'm 28 lbs down, 7 to go to "overweight" which I hope to hit in the coming weeks.

Probably not a huge help for OP, but when I'm trying to reduce the calories I intake but still enjoy a drink with friends or colleagues, I avoid draft beer and drink either scotch or gin and soda. My bigger problem than drinking is the terrible food that alcohol is the gateway to eating!

Wow you're almost the same profile as me. I started at 264.5 on Dec 28th and currently at 242.2. I also have lost a lot in the past and found it hard past 220. Not sure about you, but I've also found it easy to maintain below 230 until I really let things get out of hand! I'm hoping to stick with things to get back below…

Rightly or wrongly, I get through those days on a combination of trying to keep busy, coffee and sucking it up. Going to bed earlier seems to help too.

I lost 60 before (and gained it back) and am 20 into losing it again. The losing is doable, the lifestyle changes to keep it off is the hard part in my view. You can do it!

Ottawa as well

17 in the first three weeks, 8.5 the first week. Slowing down significantly now to be 2-3 per week avg most likely based on my past experience. I am hoping to lose about 65 total.

I hope we can keep this thread going with great ideas. I travel for work freqently, but most of my trips are 3-5 days in duration. Some of what I do include taking ziplock bags with 1/2 cup of oatmeal that I can microwave in my hotel rooms. I also try to pack two sandwiches which get me through the time on the plane, plus…

how is everyone doing almost two weeks in?

The first ten lbs for me means two things: 1. I'm actually serious about this and then tell myself I have to keep going so I don't lose momentum; and, 2. My clothes that I was wearing too tight or uncomfortable in now fit correctly.

This is a great thread. I was last under 200 in 2012 for the first time since grade school after I first discovered the app and this site in 2011. Sadly the 55 lbs I worked so hard to lose crept back again and I started this week at 264.5. I have 62 to go to hit that goal again. I'm committed to getting it off an am…

wait list me.

I would love to lose 65 in 2015, but have set a goal of 45 and if I exceed that all the better. I lost 55 using this in 2011 and sadly gained it back...hopefully can make a more permanent difference this time around. Lots of us are with you in this.

In 2011-2012, I lost 55 lbs using a combination of this app and dedication to cycling (250+ lbs to under 200). I managed to keep half of it off for four years, then a combination of poor eating, work travel and not enough exercise has me back over 250 again. I'm motivated to get back into better shape and am hoping to push…
