I haven't been on here since last year.....I had to also look in my mirror and been completely honest with myself. I'm going through menopause and the weight seems to have accelerated! I'm am going to drop the extra 80lbs that is causing me to slug along. So it's nice to know I'm not alone in my journey.

I'm 56 and Had a hysterectomy in 2007, that sent me into early menopause! I have been fighting my weight ever since. I am currently doing strength training and walking on a treadmill for cardio. I currently take bioidentical hormones and have been off and on for about 3 years. I still have hot flashes and night sweats but…

Depends on what kind of strength training you're doing. I lift heavy so my "cardio" as you put it is pretty good. Cardio has it's place, but doing it for long periods of time will cause you to go into a "catabolic" burn, where your using your muscle store and quit burning fat. You can utilize both cardio and weight…

What? Strength Training does not transfer to calorie burn???? You've got to be kidding me! You WILL burn calories when you strength train....where did you get your information from? If you follow the Body Beast program, the nutrition is layed out for you. You can't lift and not expect to be burning anything...If you follow…

What? Why not??? I have a pre-workout protein drink to make sure that I have adequate caloric stores for my body to use...then when I finish with my workout, I have a recovery shake when I get home! But like someone said, it's all a matter of personal choice!

I just finished my first round of Body Beast, it is not intended to be anything like P90 or Insanity...it's weight lifting using different workout styles. If you're gaining weight and are not satisfied then I suggest you incorporate the cardio from either of the beach body programs you've done or perhaps do a "hybrid"…

I agree with every word!!!!
-
I've done 3 Rounds of the program, I lost 9 pounds and 14 1/2 inches. If you real the whole article, you would have put a few more things into your comment instead of picking and choosing to suit what you wanted to. It is a sound nutritional program. If you haven't done the whole program don't knock it! Not all programs…

I'm doing Body Beast also, I'm in week 9 Beast Phase, I have so far dropped 3.5 lbs, -2% body fat, and increased lean muscle mass 13%. I would recommend it highly for women! I don't use the Beach Body supplements, too expensive, I do use a good protein powder, pre-workout and post-workout drink and follow a sound nutrition…

Hey Shawna, I would love to help cheer you on and motivate you! Add me and off we go!!! BTW, I have about 80 pounds to lose so I'm giving it my best shot too!!!

D, I have the one for women, and I love it! Even though I'm doing another program now, I think it's great for women. I don't believe there is a "workout log" but you can get one off of amazon pretty cheap. The women's version is a bit different considering your using it. But like the men's version, very sound information…

My husband used this book in the beginning, good solid foundation if you're just getting started, I do know that every now and then he will refer back to this book. I concur with the lady and the gentlemen on this thread!

Magsmichelle, you should be proud of your 70lbs. weight loss! That is amazing that you did it all on your own! May I suggest that in addition to the scale, you get a really good pair of Calipers, sometimes we don't actually see the results as far as strength that we'd like to. Fat Calipers are a great way to monitor body…

Each of your meals should consist of three primary macronutrients: Protein, Carbohydrates, and Fats. Protein is the most important nutrient for gaining mass, because only protein can be converted to muscle. Your body breaks dietary protein down into building blocks called amino acids, which are then reassembled into your…
-
First off, throw out that stupid scale....Go to a gym and have a fitness professional measure you with Fat Calipers, You may actually be getting some gains but because you are overweight you can't see them. I'm doing Body Beast and I started the program at 220, too k my measurements and Fat Caliper test and I've allready…

Oh you were doing so well until you referred to the "general population' as being "mediocre"...I'm part of the general population and believe you me I'm anything but "mediocre"....

Beautifully put from the guy with the muscles!

that's what I do, I don't worry about intake of fats before or after working out....if you are spreading your "healthy" fats throughout your day you should be just fine. Spot on post

I will be more than happy to help with support, besides I love babies!

You can't "bulk up" we women don't have the testosterone that men do, You have beautiful muscle definition! I would give heaven and earth to have those biceps! Be proud. Not all women can put that kind of muscle on! I would rather have great muscle definition and be toned and tight any day! I'm doing Body Beast right now…

Hey, whatever works for you!!!

Try going to facebook and posing your question here: BodyBeast4women, maybe they can give you the answers I could not....good luck!
-
Orfygirl, that's pretty much what I said, just put it differently. I don't advocate anyone do as I do. She asked a question so I gave her what worked for me....that's all!

I too am trying to lose 80lbs. Body Beast is a weight training program that first came out for men, but more and more women are starting to use it. I don't know if you've seen the infomercials for it but it can seem pretty intimidating. If you're still curious, you can go to facebook and type: BodyBeast4women. I love the…

I eat the majority of my calories in the morning and at lunch. I don't like the idea of going to bed with alot of food on my stomach. I do agree with mommyofjan that planning your meals in very important!
