  • OMG just stop - I didn't have high blood sugar numbers because I was on medication for Diabetes and controlling my sugar. All of the DRs that I have seen have said DKA that happened because of the Jaridance. (there is even a class action law suit about this) but I guess Dr Sunny Bunny knows all.
  • I really was in dka my ph was 7.203 and my anime gap was 24. They were giving me both insulin and sugar as treatment. This dr was not the one that treated me at the hospital. I went to the nearest ER for a racing heart rate. That is when they discovered the dka. This DKA was likely caused by taking Jardiance - apparently…
  • She said I don’t want my body making ketones and I need glucose for fuel. She also told me low fat. I actually haven’t done it. I am still eating keto. Shhhh. I had a ton of sugar in the hospital though by iv and these d50 tubes.
  • Well she is not a fan of the keto diet. I said I would consider it but I was making no promises. So far I haven’t done it.
  • Well went to the endo who wants me to be eating 15grams of carbs at each meal. Not sure how I feel about that because I know it won't be good for my blood sugar. I said I would try to eat more at least until all of my numbers are completely back.
  • The only difference is that I didn't have high glucose levels -
  • I had DKA and the anion gap and a ph and blood tests performed ever four hours around the clock. I did have dka with all the lab work to prove it. I don’t know why you would think you know my story better than me. There are unusual cases. I am one of those. The drs agreed that it didn’t make sense but it still was. Telling…
  • Maybe I am the fool as I had no idea about this possible side effect until I was in the hospital. Also many medical providers and prescribing doctors don’t know as I had been to a minor emergency place and my pcp who both dismissed me. It was a scary experience for sure and I thought I was doing all the right things for my…
  • It is apparently a rare side effect of Jardiance that generally happens within 2 weeks of starting the medication. I had been taking it since June.
  • No I haven’t had a blood sugar reading over 200 in months. My blood sugar when I arrived at the ER was 99. I have been really working on keeping my blood sugar in range and being healthy since I saw 7.4 as my a1c in early December. The only explanation I was given was the Jardiance. I spent two days in icu and two days in…
  • Well my journey had an interesting twist. Very scary too. If you are on Jardiance be careful. Good news my a1c is 6.1. Bad news I just got out of the hospital from dka. I am now off all meds but of course my sugars are higher. Ugh.
  • You do not have to have type 1 to have dka. Please don’t tell people that. There are lots of crazy scenarios that can lead to dka. I just had one occur and I am type 2. I even have well controlled blood glucose levels. Mine was a combo of the drug Jardiance and a Keto diet.
  • Wow thanks for all the advice. I had blood work done on dec 13. So pretty recently. My a1c was 7. I took myself off one of my diabetic meds altogether because. I have an appointment with a new dr in a couple weeks. We will see how keto friendly they are but ultimately my choice. My youthful appearance might be deceiving as…
  • I am not opposed to Chiropractic care but I need someone to help manage my mess at this point. Even reducing my meds I am getting lows. Two today had to eat carbs to correct. Anyone have a recommendation for a meter with cheap strips. I am going to be out of strips before I can renew my script.
  • Thanks - I looked at that list but the one in Dallas is not a medical doctor and the one in Irving it seems is not longer at the practice. I have never been to an endo although I have thought I might should.
  • I am in Dallas Texas I looked at a couple of those sights but really only found nutritionist and chiropractors. Those are good but I need a physician to help manage diabetes
  • Dallas Texas I just started Keto but did low carb way back in 2005 when I was desperate to get pregnant. I lost 60 lbs. I regained 20 at some point and type 2 diabetes. So here I go. Week one in the books.
  • It is not a statin as I had a bad reaction to statins in the past. My problem is it has not done anything to help my cholesterol
  • Doctor reduced my meds. Didn't really have a care in the world about why my blood sugar was suddenly lower or why I had lost weight. I think I need a new doctor. I also woke up sick this morning so that should take care of the lows for a few days. lol I have been taking fenofibrate for my cholesterol it has not make any…
  • Again a day of fighting low blood sugar. Got down to 43 at one point. I have an apt in the morning and took less meds tonight.
  • 73. Probably not a good thing as it dropped all morning.
  • Yeah I will call and try to get in. Usually only takes a few days. I am over due for a bp check because I changed meds. I have had to eat more carbs today because it isn’t safe for by sugar to be so low and driving my kids around and such. Not what I wanted but had to be done.
  • Yeah I am pretty sure it isn't the metformin as I have taken it before for PCOS and fertility. I have really been low all day - I had some extra carbs with my lunch again as my sugar was in the 50s before lunch. Even now it is just 73. I guess I should probably make a doctor appointment.
  • I was at work and lifesavers is all I had. And I felt like I was going to pass out - I think a 48 has to be treated. I don't always eat in the morning either and always hold my metformin until I do - I know that if I take it on an empty stomach it will make me sick. I have been on these meds for about 6 months - but I…
  • Yesterday I struggled with low blood sugar all day from about an hour after my workout. I have an appointment with my doctor next week so will talk to her.
  • Corn meat needs to cook low and slow to be tender. I generally cook it all day while I am at work. My family loves it. Try it again cook it on low for 8-10 hours it is delicious
  • Okay well if it's normal then I guess it is what it is. Thanks
  • go see a good doctor and get an MRI and see what is really going on. The weakness can lead to something called drop foot it is permanent. I had compressed nerves from a ruptured disk. I did everything to make it better including losing 50lbs. In the end I had surgery. This was a good decision in my case. I felt better…
  • I drink my breakfast ... I like it. It is easy I can take it with me it is low calorie and keeps me full. I take it to work with me and drink it all morning sometimes. Do what you like. eating or drinking you breakfast is a personal choice
