You are all rockstars. @Poke987, I'm so sorry about your running buddy. I hope she's feeling better. Today marks two weeks since I've run. Eeek. I'm giving it a shot on Monday to see how it goes. If I have pain, I'm going to the doctor (I hate going to doctors, fyi), but I can't not run anymore. I actually really enjoy it…

Just signed up for another HM on Sept. 20. Will have seven weeks until the other one I signed up for on Nov. 8. No other races right now.

I'm signed up for the HM in my town in November. I cannot wait (although my tendonitis needs to heal - bah). I am shooting for a 2:05-2:10 time and hoping for 1:58. I've missed running this week. I miss eating the extras that running allows me to eat as well! :) I'm also looking at some trail runs prior to that (either 10k…

@FireStorm1972 What an incredible first HM. Those are impressive bragging rights over your much younger brother. Congratulations! Your winner was fast. The one I was in the men's winner came in at 1:19:43 (age 28) and the women's winner came in at 1:32:16 (age 20).

@poke987 WooHoo!!! Congratulations! You should be so proud of your accomplishment. I hope you get to relax & get super-spoiled tomorrow. @FireStorm1972 have a great time tomorrow!
-
Good luck this weekend!! @poke987 & @FireStorm1972 be sure to report back!
-
@poke987 I'm glad your foot is better! I thought I'd try 2-3 miles of run/walking today, but left calf and right tendons said nope after 15 seconds. Sadness. I really find I'm missing running.
-
Oh no!! Glad it's not broken and that you don't need stitches. I'd say skip tomorrow's 2 miler. I can't imagine it'll impact your run overall, but that wound can. Could you have the wound glued shut with that medical glue? I'm not one to run to the doctor, but maybe it's worth talking to a medical professional to see if…

I realized I missed a few posts: @GreatCthulhu congratulations!! -- you did great!! I hope you had a fun time! @Just_Ceci I agree you are impressive! 75 miles is a big number.

@FireStorm1972 I wish I'd used my small handheld bottle thing (attaches to hand, so I don't actively need to clutch it). It was hot and full sun and I ran on roads the entire way. The aid stations didn't always have enough in the cups. At the end, I could've used more liquid as I started getting chills from heat exhaustion…

I have to say that La Crosse, Wisconsin, puts on a great event. Lots of volunteers, so many people lining the streets & cheering, and lots of cowbells! It was 59F at the start and bright, full sun - it got hot by the end. I finished at 2:16:06. The post-race beer never tasted so good! I started last week thinking the best…

@cjwachsmuth you can make great progress in seven weeks. Just don't push to injury. If your long runs are giving you problems, I've read plenty of reputable sources that say that the miles count more than the pace. So, take it slow and you'll still gain the benefits. Or, check out Jeff Galloway. He's an ex-olympian runner…
-
@poke987 you are definitely a runner! Plus, you ran 6 seconds slower than last week, but it felt really good and your baby probably weighs another 1/2 pound more? He or she is taking up more space? I think you were running better for sure. I figured out I have peroneal tendonitis. Sadness. Compression socks are helping…

4 miles in 40 min. one last training run remaining. @FireStorm1972 it looks like you'll be more than alright by race day. @Just_Ceci those compliments must feel really good.
-
@Firestorm would compression sleeves/running tights/shorts help you at all? Or does the tape do the same thing? I have something going on my right ankle going straight up the side, and I wore a compression sock today and it made a huge difference. Plus, I out-ran my lungs again, which I haven't done lately. I ran 5…

Ran 4 miles today in 40:24. Wind was quite a bit less today, thankfully. The plan I've been mostly following is Jeff Galloway's walk-run program. I thought that with being so far out of shape and not having enough time to really train, I'd use his program to at least finish the half without injury. As I've progressed, I've…

@FireStorm1972 you totally have this. The adrenalin on race day will pull you through. You'll be great and finish strong. I ran for 40 minutes today (the plan I follow has minute goals Tu/Thu & distance for the weekend long run). Unfortunately, I did not get out before the winds hit. 26mph winds are not fun to run into.…

I'm sure you'll catch back up to your normal level of fitness before your half. Seems like you have a really good base. Ran 8 today. Realized I screwed up on my training when I planned out the weeks b/c I did it so late and then missed a few on vacation (was skiing and the roadways weren't great for running). So, I…
-
Congratulations @Just_Ceci !! Happy for you that the weather was perfect and that you had a great first half marathon. Looks like you finished well, too. So, do you have another planned? I'm off in a few to go run 11 miles.
-
@Just_Ceci good luck on your run! @poke987 don't stress yourself too much - you've been doing great and you are carrying a baby. That's a big undertaking alone! I ended up with new shoes as mine were worn out. Also, turns out that when I took a seminar a few years ago on running form and I changed from heel striking to…

@Just_Ceci (you changed your name!) to high humidity. Unless you like that, of course. Glad your arm is better. I ran on Sunday. The original plan was that I wake up early and run before mass and brunch, but last minute decided to go to the early mass, so no time. Then, brunch was amazing, yet sat with me all day.…

Find a Teavana or a David's Tea. There are so many types and blends, you are bound to find something you really like.

Oh my gosh! How long has that museum been there?! I used to go to Bella Vista ALL. THE. TIME. to visit my grandmother (passed away five years ago now) and I never knew this was there. It looks like a fantastic place to go run. I need to start venturing out more. I tend to just leave from my front door and stay in the…

On the treadmill today - got 40 minutes on it. One month to go as of today. @poke987 you are fast! @Ceci_O_K how do you like running on gravel/dirt? Maybe dumb question as you got a PR... Is the weather still predicted to be hot?
-
I'm sorry to read about illness and injuries. That's never fun. Hope you are both healed soon. I ran 4 miles this morning, but had to break down and go get a new rescue inhaler this afternoon. Haven't dealt with asthma in nearly 10 years and after three runs of it hinting at its return (I'd just take a walking break or go…
-
Got out early enough today to get my 9.5 miles in before the hail hit. Still slow like a turtle, but only two 1-minute walking breaks.
-
Sick kid @ home, so treadmill today. Ran for 40 minutes. 4 min run/1 walk. Very slowly, but surely my lung capacity is improving.
-
That stinks. I'm sorry. Bummer about the lost paint as well. :(

I've been going to a barre class 3x/week since mid-November and it's helped me immensely with flexibility. Even when I did yoga, I was never this flexible. Also, my core strength has greatly improved. My ribcage expanded with my first pregnancy and hadn't gone back all the way and now I'm smaller in the ribcage than I was…

Mine is five weeks from this Saturday. I'm feeling OK about it. Bummed I didn't start training in time to really be prepared, but not much to do about it now except keep going. I will be run/walking throughout, and I have to keep telling myself that's OK -- it was always more about hanging out with my cousins, anyway. Now,…
