  • Cut out processed foods and refined sugar. Eat mostly fruits, veggies and lean meats. If you want carbs, eat whole grains. Also, exercise, specifically high intensity and heavy weights, will improve your numbers.
  • This is horrible advice!! Lifting helps increase your metabolism and in the long run, you will lose body fat lifting. It wouldn't hurt for you to add in cardio as well and mix it into your lifting routine. The only reason to not lift weights is because you want to be as skinny as possibly and actually being healthy and fit…
  • I get a lot of pressure from my Dr to lower my cholesterol, because the total is 220. However, I lift weights A LOT and workout everyday (I do Crossfit) My HDL is up around 80 while most people's is hardly above 30. My LDL is in the high end of the acceptable range and my triglycerides are well below where they need to be.…
  • I agree with not wanting to eat boring food, but you can add a little Himalayan salt and all sorts of spices to make things taste better without adding the calories of salad dressings, ketchup and other things like that. I find 1200 calories is plenty of food for me if I cut out all the little extras most people use to…
  • I personally adjust it to be highest in fat(70%), moderate in protein(25%) and very low carb(5%). I also hit the gym very heavily with both cardio and heavy weights. I actually do crossfit. On days I workout, I add maybe 20g or so more of carbs. This has been working very well for me to drop the pounds I need and sustain…
  • I know how you feel. But if your trying to date, just make sure the guy you end up with would love you regardless of size. I started dating my boyfriend at my fittest, 5'4" and 140#. I am now up to 160# and when I complained about my weight to him he said he hadn't even noticed. It's easy to attract shallow guys at your…
  • I am an personal trainer/coach and I always recommend, especially at the start of a new diet and exercise plan to pay more attention to how your clothes fit than the number on the scale. Try taking measurements of your body instead of weighing yourself often. I would say weigh yourself once a week and no more. If you…
  • The most helpful thing I've found is going to bed early to make sure I get 8-9 hours of sleep and having coffee set and ready to go in the AM :)
  • Hey girls, If you have not heard it yet, muscle is more dense than fat. That means when you gain 1 pound of muscle, it takes up less space in your body than 1 pound of fat. So if you are faithfully working out and generally eating less carbs and a reasonable amount of calories, it is completely normal to gain weight before…
  • Hi, I don't know if this would be possible in the area you live in, but look into joining a crossfit gym. I know there is a lot of taboo out there about them but most of it is not true. I have been a crossfit coach for years now and the benefits are great! you will learn how to give your body a good workout and most gyms…
