Been here since 2014. I log every day. Plan on doing it for life!

I started at 20 min walk once a week, to three times a week. At my craziest I did 2 hour workouts M-F and 3 hour workouts Sat & Sun. I have backed off to 1 hour M-F and Sat & Sun 2 hours. Close to maintenance I added weightlifting.

Here is a funny story. I took my body weight scale to a week long family vacation in Vegas. My brother as a joke, started putting quarters on the edges to mess with me. His plan was to add and subtract quarters so I would significantly gain and lose wt while on vacation. I saw through his evil plan and laughed hysterically!

I don't take my food scale; but I do take my body weight scale. Even though I eat more on vacation, it has helped to to not be shocked when I get back. I know I will be able to get the vacation weight off. I has helped me mentally.

I worked with a guy who was so cheap. We ask who wanted breakfast burritos, collected $4/each (he declined). Later, he served me my burrito (should have been suspicious). A coworker said he only gave you half your burrito and is eating the other half. I walked into his desk and said in front of everybody, "Are you eating…

A follow up to this post. October 2016 I schedule my annual physical. At the appointment, my MD and I do not talk about hypertension, do not talk about obesity, do not talk about insomnia; we do talk about exercise, posture, stretching, Cross-Fit; and the words "I am proud of you".
-
I donated items to thrift stores and bought items for in between sizes. Now I am at goal, I still shop at thrift stores!

I went for my annual physical. After a 50 lb wt loss and 1 year of maintenance; the MD did not talk about high blood pressure, did not talk about high cholesterol, did not talk about wt loss, did not talk about insomnia. The MD and I DID talk about lifting, form, Cross-Fit, stretching; and the words "I am proud of you" was…

I visited my daughter at her new teaching job. I meal prepped two Bento's for her lunch and gave her the boxes. Should have taken a picture. Hopefully we have a new convert in the San Jose, CA teacher group.

I participated in a Triathlon!

Right after my weight loss my face looked really gaunt and saggy. This lends itself to looking too thin. At you height and weight you are right in the middle of BMI. If you give yourself some time and do some weight lifting your face and body will normalize. That has been my experience.

Try the couch to 5 K program and Stronglifts 5X5. That worked for me!

I used to do 3 hour workouts on the weekend and 2 hour workouts M-F. I year into maintenance I have dialed back to 2 hours weekends, 1 hour M-F; but it took me a while to get my mindset right. I can now not exercise and not freak that I would go back to my old sedentary obese ways.

I am 4'11" and you can see my pictures on the Success Story thread posted today Obese to Triathlete

Thank you everyone for your great support! I could not have done it without the MFP community.

My SO would complain that I would never eat the same foods with him. So we had a date night and I planned my calories for the dinner. Afterwards, while he was at work, he insisted that I eat the left-overs if I loved him. I politely told him, why am I supposed to eat food to show you my love when you are at work? He would…

I went through a divorce after 24 years. It is tough, there will be good days and bad. I am now mentally, financially, and physically much better off. Look to the future, set short term and long term goals. I am a planner; so there can be a plan A, B, or C. However, sometimes it just goes a crazy way you would never…

I used to eat fast due to kids and wanting my food hot. Now my kids are in college and I savor my food. I eat so slowly at dinner my mother has asked on 2 separate occasions for my brother to get the car. To which he answered your daughter is not finished eating.

I keep carrot sticks and sugar snap peas to snack on.

I have done WW. WW is basically a calorie counter also, just using points. I like the idea of actually knowing the calories of foods. When the WW subscription expired, I switched to MFP. Plus WW was not encouraging for me. I have lost 50 lbs on MFP.

Not my food scale, but my body wt scale. I weigh myself daily. Just so I can keep myself aware, and possibly keep me in check.
-
I take my scale with me on vacation. I eat when it is great, and pass when it is not. I eat really small for two meals a day and save for the one big meal. I try to exercise while on vacation. Either swimming or hiking.
-
I bring healthy snacks. Sugar snap peas, carrot sticks, air popped popcorn. & I walk.

Used it to track my blood pressure. I put my blood pressure in notes. I took my printed food log to my MD and asked to be taken off all my high blood pressure medication. I am now off all prescription medication!
