  • Seriously. And I'm saying this as a person with hella loose skin after losing 130lb. I look pretty awesome with clothes on. With clothes off... well, I put my body through a lot being really fat for my whole life. These things have consequences. Fat or thin, loose skin or not, your value as a person doesn't change. But you…

  • Mine's a lot better, but honestly at 15 pounds from goal it's really not great. I think I'll just have to have success stories in other areas. I expect the thing will improve a bit as my core strengthens, but it'll never be particularly lovely. My best solution is to remind myself that a strong, healthy body is more…
  • For the first time in months, I took my bike instead of the car, even though it was dark and cold and I was late and could have made excuses. And I made it up all the hills :)
  • Hahaha I "use" bone broth all the time. Because I'm poor. Soup from scratch is delicious, healthy, filling, and unbelievably dirt cheap. It hasn't made me young and radiant though. If anything, all the weight I've lost is bringing out fine lines that I never knew I had :/
  • At my highest (above 275) they were about 19-19.5. I'm nearing 160 now and they're 15.5. I'm 5'4", for reference. I'm hoping for a smidge more before I hit goal, but big ol' calves are kinda my thing, so I'm not holding my breath.
  • In 2-3 lbs I'll weigh less than my hubby, which for some reason is a giant deal to me. It might be the fact that he's 10" taller than me! I would have already achieved this one two weeks ago but the jerk started biking to work and lost 5 lbs. Jerk.
  • I've always been fat (I started somewhere above 275 at 5'4"), and as an adult I've always been confident. I wear bright colours, dress to be seen, smile and greet strangers, hold my head high, etc. I didn't have the negative experiences that so many fat women have, and I count myself lucky. But no matter how visible I made…
  • I'm *very* handy with a sewing machine and always take loose clothes in, but between my original size 24 and my current 14 I have exactly zero of my favourite dresses left. I can generally get an extra two sizes out of something with alterations, but after that... Nope. Just starts to get weird and does the dress and my…
  • My collar bones show enough now that I was able to notice for the first time that they are really rather lopsided. Adds character ;)
  • I was walking my kid home from school, and she challenged me to a race up a fairly big hill. We ran the whole thing! When I first started this whole thing, I had to stop halfway up that hill, even at a slow walk. It was a good day :)
  • Today I lifted two oak trees. Well, in pieces, to take them to the splitter. But still. On Thursday I'll lift those bad boys two more times to haul and then stack the wood. It's nice getting paid to get my exercise in :)
  • I make clothes for fun. I can't wait for my size to stop changing so I can feel like it's worth putting in the time and care again!
  • Home made soups generally come in under 400 for a nice big serving, especially if you keep the fats lower. Curried butternut squash, ham and pea, sausage and potato/bean... So many options, so little time.
  • I'm going camping next week with my in-laws and I can't wait to enjoy all the active things that I kinda hated last year. My a** is going to fit in the kayaks! The 3 mile walk to the beach is way shorter than my regular walks! I can run with my kid, and climb up hills, and do all those things I've been missing for years.…
  • Do you sew, or have a friend who does? Maybe you could barter with them for some alterations. Some things can't be taken in enough, but others can. I've managed to make some of my things last from a 24 to about an 18, though most of them really can't go any smaller without looking ridiculous. Also, old clothes can be cut…
  • I bought a cardigan in size L and it fits! I haven't worn a large in 12 years. Also grabbed some new workout gear and I'm shocked at how not-horrible it looks.
  • You look beautiful and you deserve every ounce of pride and happiness. Congratulations on both your fitness and your marriage!
