  • I haven't weighed myself in a while (just starting over with my fitness stuff) I will update goals if actual weight is off from my estimate below. STARTING WEIGHT AND DATE WITH MFP (MY FITNESS PAL): 265 lbs CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT: 265 lbs Sept.2: Sept. 9: Sept.16: Sept.23: Sept.30: Sept. Goal: 261 Sept. Actual: Oct. 7:…
  • Congrats on your weight loss. Something that jumped out at me was you saying that you were waiting to live a full life until after you reached your weight loss goal. Your life is happening now, and you are worth living it right now to the fullest, whatever that means to you. Being thinner will not magically solve the other…
  • Glad to see other Packers fans here! B) It was a nail-biter for sure this weekend. JFT 9/25: - Pack lunch (did it) - Eat lunch (you would think this would be a given, but I struggle historically...did it!) - No sneaking office junk food (mostly yes, snagged a few apples someone brought in!) - Sign up for a gym membership…
  • Love this thread. It is easy to use an ambivalent significant other as an excuse (I'm guilty of it for sure). At the end of the day though I am my own person and I make my own decisions. I had been waiting to get my husband on board for a gym membership but I think I'm just gonna start myself, and he can join later if he…
  • I get beans from the co-op down the street and grind them at home. I am still not brave enough for black coffee so I drink mine with some creamer with minimal added chemicals (I love the taste of the chemicals, but am trying to cut back on processed stuff :p ).
  • I have a close friend who was able to go off most of her RA medications following the AIP closely. No more steroid injections! If you struggle with autoimmune diseases, I would certainly give it a shot. I've seen the progress and results with my own eyes.
  • Late to the thread but I kicked off half marathon training this month for my race in November. 7/05 - 3 7/07 - 2 7/09 - 3 7/10 - 3 Slowly but surely. Heat was oppressive this week, got a ways to go before any reprieve. Gonna be pushing through in any case.
  • JFT 5/2/16 1. Drink 64 oz water at work 2. Eat lunch I packed 3. Make planned dinner 4. Go for a walk in the evening
  • Stumptuous.com! Lots of no nonsense info from a strong and fit lady. I understand wanting a female centered website due to the comfort zone factor, but people are right that gender doesn't matter a ton for this stuff. That being said, I like going to sites that feature ladies for inspiration!
  • Me too. Just purchased as well. It is syncing exercise calories to mfp though. Who knows? I'm giving it a bit more time to figure it out since this is my first day logging with the new watch.
  • Glad to see this thread. Been plodding around with walk/run intervals the last month or so and just signed up for a group running program with our local Fleet Feet that starts in March to train for a 5k. Will likely lurk until then. Baby steps is the name of the game for me. Used to be in much better shape and I still…
  • I love this thread. NSV this morning - woke up early with my alarm with no snoozing, did some yoga, ate breakfast, and am ready to face the day! Breaking out of a month-long late to bed, morning struggle routine.
  • Great post. Very motivational. I know a lot of people who would have had a million excuses not to start. Congrats on your success. You seem immeasurably happier in the second picture, which is what it's all about at the end if the day!
  • Chobani apple cinnamon... So good!! I mix a few spoonfuls of benefiber in as well, and it is crazy filling.
  • 8/1 - 3 mi 8/2 - 2 mi (5 mi planned) Shin splints! Ugh! Ended my 5 mile run early (was doing a mile loop around the park thankfully) and have my fingers and toes crossed that it'll be better today. Combination of increasing mileage and buying new shoes. Might try sticking my super foot insoles into the new shoes and see…
  • Just pulled the trigger on a half in November, so it's time to get training. I'm in for 75 this month. Let's do it!
  • Start tracking your walks on your phone to see if you can go a little bit faster or a little bit longer. Running is great for this if you can get up to that fitness- working towards a mileage or speed goal gives you more of an incentive to get out there. If that carrot doesn't get you out there, find something you like…
  • 26, going to add you. The more the merrier!
  • And here's the kicker, if you are just planning on making these changes until the weight comes off, then going back to eating mindlessly, chances are you'll be back in a few years back where you started. Think about finding forever lifestyle changes and try not to obsess over each pound. Best of luck!
  • Mine was when the cashier at McDonalds remembered my breakfast order since I was in there nearly every day. UGH. I don't want to be that obese woman who stops at Mcdonalds on her way to work every day, but there I was. I now make a week's worth of greek yogurt parfaits on Sunday to take with me in the morning. Instead of…
  • Shifting calories around to hit a weekly goal is smart. Right now I've been doing enough activity on the weekends to balance my increased intake, but that might be an idea that gets used when winter rolls around and moving around outside isn't really as much of an option. Brilliant!
  • 5'10", currently between 215-220. Looking to eventually get back down to 160 or so and go from there. First looking forward to getting out of the obese category in 20 lbs or so! I'm about 10 lbs down from my heavist so still a ways to go, but slowly but surely we'll get there!
  • Seconding the headphones suggestion. I'm in my own little world at the gym and if people want to give me looks or make snide comments, I don't notice! It sounds like the other people in your life giving you a hard time about your diet are scared that you are going to succeed and they would rather have you stay with them…
  • Runkeeper! I've also used strava in the past and really liked it, but I get the "elite" features of Runkeeper because I have a Samsung phone. Who knew? If only my pace was "elite" as well...lol.
  • Love yoga! I'm generally a pretty anxious person and yoga helps me unwind and appreciate myself and my life as it is. My muscles and joints appreciate it too - especially my hip flexors! I run (well, plod) and have chronic low back pain so loosening that particular joint has been very helpful. Yay yoga!

  • I'm not dismissing the fear - it totally does happen. I run during the daylight and make a conscious effort to run in well populated places or roads. When I lived in rough neighborhoods, I carried pepper spray on my belt loop. I've read the statistics of attacks in areas I live in and try to stay informed of the danger. I…
  • Goodness, carrying a knife in your hand? I can't imagine. I figure I'm statistically more likely to get hit by a car while running compared to any abduction situation. There is a reason these things are newsworthy - they are exceedingly rare. Don't run at night, keep to popular paths or busy streets and you'll be fine.…
  • I have a ton of knee length drawstring wicking fabric ones from Walmart - danskin maybe? They are fitted but not compression. I love them! Comfy, super stretchy, stay up with the drawstring, don't chafe, and are super cheap.
  • Just got my Charge HR - loving it! www.fitbit.com/user/2DZR3P Add me! Always glad to have more friends on these types of things.
  • We use the word "allege" in various forms at my job fairly frequently, and my cube neighbor consistently says "allegated" instead of "alleged". I can't bring myself to correct her, it's been too long at this point. I can only hope she isn't writing it that way into official government docs. I'm not a grammar nazi by any…
