Um, you do realize that the instant pot is a pressure cooker? So she is making bone broth the way that you are suggesting. Sorry didn't realize this was an old thread before hitting reply.

Try using butternut squash. Pumpkin you buy is not the same pumpkin that they use in the cans. The canned stuff is pie pumpkin and the same color as butternut squash.

If you are wide enough to take up 2 seats on the subway, I have some sympathy. But in rush hour if you are making people stand cause your family jewels need to breathe, then you don't need them.

Hmmm. I think that most of what he talks about i can see as being consequences not necessarily of conscious choices, but how american lifestyle is not set up to help people be healthy. But the subject of thin privileged... Yes there is something in the fact that a lot of essential services that are not set up for heavier…

My mother really formed my relationship with food. Up until 7th grade I was always the tallest heaviest kid. I was very muscular, however, not fat. At 10 I was 5 foot and 116 lbs, and everyone freaked out. The dr suggested a diet which of course my mom through out and just cut out all snacks and monitored my food. I was…

The general rule when my son was young was that he had to try everything on his plate. When he was done he was done. Now that he is 15 and going through a growth spurt the rule is I buy one bag of chips and something sweet each week. He takes protein bars for lunch since he refuses to take a lunch. I buy bags of pears and…

? Why not milkshakes, egg nog, nut butters, butter. I don't get what is wrong with real food. Any higher fat food would work.

The fattier the meat the better. I get a thick cut (filet mignon, yum), freeze it, and plop on high in the oil less fryer for 15 to 20 min. the fat gets crispy and it's medium rare.

I have let people know that I work with once there were questions about why I weigh my food or if I was eating enough. It's not like I don't eat lol. I eat between 1800 and 2000 calories a day. And I'm not trying to hide the fact, it's just that it hasn't come up in conversation with some people. Like the fact that I am 54.

I moved and basically have only talked to a couple of people who knew me 100 lbs ago, so I don't really get the comments except for the ex who always manages to tell me how great I look.

I would soak the beans overnight and cook with fresh water because it removes some indigestible sugars. if you tend to flatulence from beans, you definitely should presoak.

FYI my percentages are based on 1800-2000 kcals a day

Closer to 400 g or you could go for 300 gm protein and 222 g fat. Cheese, nut butters, sour cream, butter, avocado. Heck with those calories guac and chips!! Deviled eggs, yumm. Lots of stuff that goes down easier than chicken breast. People who are saying go high protein are not dealing with a need for 4K kcals. I grew up…

Except that my 15 yo is always hungry enough to eat about 2 lbs of apples

I do the same with baked chicken breast. If I feel like I'm starving and I eat it, I know I was.

When i tore my meniscus I started lifting weights using machines. When my knee healed I started using free weights.

It's not holiday treats that is causing obesity. It's the everyday stuff. Candy and chips and not enough movement. Everyone here is all CICO and treats in moderation. It's the same for kids. FYI as a kid I had a lot more candy and salty treats, but like everyone else at the time I was constantly moving.

Nope not my type of cookie. I like hard cookies like biscotti and pfefferneuse (homemade not the soft icky ones in the store), shortbread cookies, or crispy cookies.

I moved from a Lifestyle group (active weight loss) to a Maintenance group because I have been cycling the same 5 lbs for 4 months and I haven't been feeling well. 3 weeks into the new group and I am down those 5 lbs and starting to feel good again.

There are several ways to approach meal planning. First what is it that you want a meal plan to do? Are you looking for nutrition? portion control? Look up calorie/portion information on foods you are eating. Then log the portions and meals into MFP. Some people prelog for a day or a week. One note is that eating pretty…

When I eat out I take photographs of all my food before I eat, so I don't forget what I ate.

You have to figure out when you are truly hungry and when you aren't. For me, if I am hungry for chicken breast and willing to eat it straight out of the fridge, then I eat cause I know I'm hungry. If I just need to chew on something I have baby carrots and celery in there.

Except the hunching shoulders and laughing too much though especially hunching shoulders tend to be extreme cases or related to too much computer time.

I had an episode of severe stomach pain and what felt like gas after eating tortilla chips. Something I never eat. I actually got up so fast to run to the restroom that I passed out. Turns out the passing out wasn't a huge deal, but 6 months later I found out that the stomach pain was a gallstone.
